Hi everyone!

Well, I got my BFP on Friday morning and it is only just starting to sink in! According to my dates I am due 2nd Feb and I thought it would be nice to have a Feb babies thread, where we can all share our news/worries/excitement!

Cant wait to hear from you

Hi everyone. Just wanted to say that it hasn't worked out this time for me. Yesterday at 4:30 my nausea stopped suddenly and I knew something was wrong. By 5 I'd started bleeding and phoned the out of hours Dr who confirmed that I'm having an early miscarriage. Had a very bad night and I'm in a bit of pain but have been prescribed tramadol which is taking the edge off. Emotionally I'm all over the place but M is being marvelous and I know we'll be ok.

I really hope everyone here has a very sticky bean. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of you. I'll pop back now and then to see how you're all doing.

Take care.

banana87 · 06/06/2010 11:38

applecharlotte: yep, normal. I felt really sick yesterday but not much today. The same happened last time and I wished sickness on myself which I honestly never ever wished I had!!

carabee · 06/06/2010 11:42

Starflowergirl - i'm so, so sorry - take really good care of yourself [hug]

AmIGoingMad · 06/06/2010 11:59

suzym1984 · 06/06/2010 12:09

applecharlotte Yes!! I am doing a test every other day still! I keep telling myself, right this will be the last test, then 2 days later take another one! Although I do love seeing that line getting darker !

Starflowergirl I am so sorry to hear your sad news. Look after yourself [hugs]

Starflower, so very sorry to hear that, hugs to you xx

OliviaMumsnet · 06/06/2010 12:29

Hello all you newly pregnant people - congratulations!

We've been alerted to another thread in our AnteNatal topic here where you can find some more newly pregnant people.

We're going to point them in your direction too - maybe a good idea to keep to one topic- we'll let you choose
Thanks

Pink10 · 06/06/2010 13:02

Hi, I'm so pleased I found this thread
Congratulations everyone
Starflowergirl I'm so sorry [hugs] my fear is mc'ing but I'm trying to think if god-forbid that happens I at least know I can get pregnant, hope this is some comfort to you [hugs].
I conceived mid May, took one of the early pregnancy tests the day I was due on which showed 2 pink lines - told Husband straight-away who is very happy took another one last week to be sure, 2 pink lines again. Yesterday took a clear blue test which read Pregnant 2-3 weeks. Have told a few in total; family/friends as so excited. Seeing the Doctor end of this week when I'll just be over 4wks and once confirmed will tell other Family but will try and wait until 12wks before letting other friends know.
My symptoms were constantly needing a wee which made me think I might be pregnant, have also be soo tired and lethargic and chest is so sore and heavy. Oh and also eating so much! Have put 4lbs unsurprisingly!
Sorry long 1st post! I'm so pleased to be able to 'speak' to other people also pregnant at same time as this is our 1st Baby there is so much I need to know!

applecharlotte · 06/06/2010 13:24

Pink10 - Welcome and congratulations! We have a stats list somewhere you can add yourself too I think.

Starflowergirl - so sorry to hear your news, hope you're not in too much pain . Take care of yourself and let us know how you are soon please x

DetectivePotato · 06/06/2010 16:47

diddygirl · 06/06/2010 17:26

Starflower - thinking of you. Your time will come so don't give up x

earlgreyismynectar · 06/06/2010 20:03

Hi everyone and welcome all newbies to out thread!

suzym I too am a hopeless liar which is why I think trying to get to 5 months is optimistic!! I'd already thought of the anti-biotics excuse! Saying it with a straight face is the key! Aw! too exciting! It's so lovely letting others in on it, it always makes everyone so happy!

applecharlotte, carabee, banana, I had a symptom free day yesterday, which despite knowing this happens is still disconcerting so I found myself buying a Tesco preg test!... Never did this in my last pregnancy but then I discovered that one a little later so I put all of these symptoms down to my due AF! Anyway, it was a relief to see it positive!...

By contrast, I've had a lot of cramp today and then this aft I had really sharp, stabbing pains in my lower left area at pubic bone, I figured it was the ovaries. The pain was so sharp and severe it just stopped me in my tracks. Anyone else experienced this? I was thinking the worst as it was a pain beyond cramp. I googled it
and have found enough out there for similar to reassure me, so far so good.

By the way I noticed Costco sells a 2 pack of Bio Oil (200ml size) for £20. Not sure if that's a lot cheaper than a single in Boots or not but worth checking out if so! We'd be in an oil slick with that quantity with no chance of stretch marks getting a look in!!

Special wave hello to Mrs Teapot! You and I are the prima gravida (I think?!) of this forum! Sounds better than it is!! Like you I still feel int 20s! HOW can that be?!

Take care all you lovely mama's & mama's to be :-)

banana87 · 06/06/2010 20:04

Sorry starflower ((hugs)). Wish there was something I could say other than I know exactly how you must feel having been there myself. Take care.

suzym1984 · 06/06/2010 20:26

Hi earlgrey you are so right, keeping a straight face is key....but I find it so hard! I have always been a smirker when I have had to tell a lie!

I was having a symptom free day today too (bit got a BFP this morning....my 8th!) then I fell asleep on the couch for an hour this afternoon (very unlike me) and now I am starving....so back to normal for me!

I also have experienced stabbing pain, low down on one side. It was so bad I couldnt even touch that area of skin. I assumed it was due to things 'stretching' inside.

Oh, and I have been using "Rescue oil", which is a much cheaper version of bio oil. I have been smothering myself in it twice a day, and have used half a bottle in a week! Makes my skin feel lovely. I figure when I start to put weight on then I will start using the proper stuff. Or maybe a combo of the two. I know what you mean about an oil slick tho.....I will be sliding out of bed tonight!

Speaking of grease....does anyone find that their hair is greasier? I usually wash mine every other day, but now it needs doing every day, weird!

GinaFB · 06/06/2010 21:52

starflowergirl I am so sorry, be gentle with youself x

pipsicles · 06/06/2010 22:25

Hello all! I got my BFP about 12 hours ago and my feet haven't really touched the ground all day!

I'm back to school tomorrow (secondary English teacher) and had set aside today for marking and planning - that has gone straight out the window!!!

We've told what feels like loads of people today - some might think we're stupid, but we've figured that we'd want their support if anything does go wrong anyway, so we've told my family and close friends. DH's family are visiting next weekend, so we'll do that then!!!

I really can't believe it's actually happened! I am a real example of the cliche "just forget about it and it will happen"! I kept thinking that was the most ridiculous advice in the world because it was all I could think about, but then various things happened that caused me to be more than a little distracted from the job in hand and, hey presto!

I wasn't really sure which of the two threads to post on, but this seemed to have more posts, so have landed here for the time being.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all over the coming months and waiting for it to sink in still!

P.S. Really sorry to hear your news starflower

LalZee83 · 06/06/2010 22:54

Does anyone else feel much warmer and gassy ? Funny how little they tell you about these things although I suppose it's part and parcel of being a first timer. Am off to GP tomorrow with DH, going to be in late for work, having to make up some illness reason... Sheesh it's not going to be easy being a secret squirrel for the next few weeks!!

earlgreyismynectar · 06/06/2010 23:11

Hi all & welcome more newbies! Gosh we're busy! Regarding the joining of the 2 threads(?!) I would suggest that since we are all very much in the pregnancy stage now it would be logical for the party to stay here! (ok I'm biased) but I have read the other thread in it's entirety and already feel I know them all! Might be an idea to have a quick scan and see their stories then welcome them here so at least they don't feel all their stories are lost? Come on over to Feb 2011 babies!

suzym so glad to hear of others experiencing this sharp pain as it's quite frightening in it's intensity. There are 2 threads on this Pregnancy forum on exactly the same (one this page, the other a few pages back) reassuring to read. Oh and yes I'm just away to wash my hair!! I seem to remember we do "bloom" at some point but can't remember when!!

Wind? Yes. Bloated like a beachball? Yes. Cramps? Yes. Big boobs? Yes (sorry misTfied!! at least you won't sag!!). Raging thirst? Yes. That's about it!

Night night ladies :-)

newdad75 · 07/06/2010 00:05

Hi All,

A new expectant dad here. The lovely lady took a digital test (sorry I don't know the acronyms yet) last week that said she was "Pregnant 3+ Weeks". She has since done an online due date predictor which come out at the 6th of Feb. Booking an appointment with the GP next week.

Am terrified, excited and feel like I want to tell the world!! Bloody hard not saying anything in the pub last night with my 3 best mates 2 of whom already have kids.

Am really looking forward to following this thread and getting any advice I can. Please include any thoughts you think might help and tips that will score me brownie points with the lady.

Thanks and good luck...

newdad75 · 07/06/2010 00:06

Sorry was also going to say congratulations to you all as well...

suzym1984 · 07/06/2010 07:09

Morning all!

earlgrey Sooo glad the greasy hair thing is not just me...its charming isnt it?! And beachball....oh yes! I am sure people at work today will be able to tell, as my boobs and stomach are so swolen!

newdad Welcome! and congratulations! I would love my DH to join a thread like this. Off the top of my head, make sure you make her plenty of cuppas, offer to do the tea if she is tired after work, do any heavy lifting (e.g. hoovering the stairs, carrying heavy shopping). And also, read up about pregnancy so that you will understand what she is going through.
And of course, keep checking in with us!

I dont undertsand the whole "2 thread" business! I actually spoke on the other thread v early on, and everyone seems lovely. However, I think the "pregnancy2 forum is busier, which is why I keep logging on to this.

Come over here please!!! We will give you a warm welcome!!!!

Have a lovely day everyone (and fingers crossed for me that I dont puke in my classrrom bin today!)

LalZee83 · 07/06/2010 08:00

Welcome NewDad. Get ready for some delightful symptom discussions, some of which might gross you out, but will help you to help your lady.
10/10 for effort!!

Ladies, good luck with the nausea... nothing worse than puking at work, is there? Luckily mine hasnt kicked in yet although I am not naive enough to believe I won't get it.

Have a good day everyone

GinaFB · 07/06/2010 09:43

I've added newdad75, Pink10 and pipsicles as I couldn't see them on the stats list. I've also taken off StarflowerGirl (and I'm sending her a huge hug - I had an ectopic in March and know that it's hideous to lose a baby)

Having just read the whole thread I thought I'd throw in some other comments:

Exercise: I did regular running up to 7 months with DS1 - Actually I even did a 5k Race for Life with 3 weeks to due date. I also did pregnancy Pilates which was great for core muscles and helps keep you continent after the birth...! With the running I wore a heart rate monitor with an alarm set to go off if my pulse went above 160BPM - I was told that above 170BPM is when you might damage the baby.... I think you can do more damage by being a sloth though :-)

Symptoms I didn't get any morning sickness with DS1 - VERY lucky I know. Actually I tell a lie I had one afternoon of being nausious with heartburn but that was it. I put that down to not having ANY caffine - no diet coke etc, etc, drinking vast amounts of water and drinking goats milk not cows milk...

Testing Yesterday I didn't feel pregnant at all (having felt HUGE and really pregnant for the last 10 days) so this morning I did another test and yep - there was the nice dark blue line :-) phew. And now I feel all pregnant again which is great.

Scans and Appointments I lost a baby in march as it was ectopic so I had to have a 5 week scan with this one (and every pregnancy I have again actually - can't have another ectopic or I'll have no fallopian tubes left...!) At 5 weeks the only thing we could see was the sac - and that was 3.5mm across. But it was beautifully nestled in my uterus which was the main thing. As we couldn't actually see the baby I can go back at 7 weeks but DH want's to wait to 12 weeks because of the risks of over-scanning the baby. Having had the 5 week scan I don't need to have the initial appointment with the doctor and should just get an appointment for the 12 week scan through the post which will be the beginning of the 'normal' process.

Telling people We're not going to tell people until 12 weeks after the all clear from the 12 week scan - apart from you lot. that said I may tell one of my baby friends this thursday as she is also pregnant again knows what I went through with the ectopic.

Phew - huge post - must do some work now!!
