Hi everyone!

Well, I got my BFP on Friday morning and it is only just starting to sink in! According to my dates I am due 2nd Feb and I thought it would be nice to have a Feb babies thread, where we can all share our news/worries/excitement!

Cant wait to hear from you

Sorry if that was a bit garbled - discreetly posting at work (naughty!)

StarflowerGirl · 01/06/2010 12:45

applecharlotte not garbled at all! (despite sneaky work posting ) Thanks for the info, I'll pop over to H&B later and pick up some of those cranberry tablets. Like you I've had recurring uti's as, up until recently, I was on immunosuppression therapy and caught every little infection that passed me by. Don't know why I didn't put two and two together this time and realise it was another uti. I just put it all down to being pregnant.

PinkElephant73 · 01/06/2010 13:38

Can I join too - just had BFP in my lunchhour at work - have not told OH yet! Am only 4+4 at the moment so fingers crossed all goes ok, very excited though!

applecharlotte · 01/06/2010 14:23

PinkEl - congrats!! Thats crazy doing it at work. How on earth are you able to concentrate?! I'm 4+5 so we are one day different! Hope it goes well with OH. How are you planning on breaking the news?

HazB2010 · 01/06/2010 14:23

Congratulations!! Think we're on the same day count too...
Guess you'll have an exciting afternoon at work!

MrsTeapot207 · 01/06/2010 15:04

Congratulations everyone!

I'm so pleased I've found you all!

Last autumn I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks, and, at the enormous age of 42, decided it was almost time to give up on the idea really.

Mr Teapot and I were engaged, so I threw myself into our wedding preparations, and we had a wonderful day on May 1st, followed by a heavenly honeymoon in Mauritius.

I had secretly hoped I could enjoy a cocktail filled holiday, and get pregnant on my honeymoon. Well, to our complete delight and amazement, my period didn't arrive last week, so, on Friday, TWO Clearblue tests confirmed that my wishes had come true!! I keep pinching myself! We're absolutely over the moon.

But also I'm now terrified that the same will happen again, so I don't want to tell too many people this time. Last time I got too excited and told so many of my friends at around the 6 week point, that the 'un-telling' was awful a month later. That's why it's so nice to find some pals in the same boat.

I'm feeling pretty well at the moment (but last time the sickness kicked in at 4/5 weeks) but I'm pretty tired, and my boobs feel like balloons! Really sore and swollen. And I'm ravenous all the time - but maybe that's just normal for me!!

I'm wondering about the gym too - Mr T suggests I just have a little walk on the treadmill, and not get too puffed out or try to lift anything- but do let me know if anyone has any advice?

Looking forward to keeping in touch over the next few months, and sharing our stories.

GinaFB · 01/06/2010 15:14

Hello everyone! I am due 6th Feb 2011 and am very excited!

In February my DP and I made the difficult decision to medically terminate at 21 weeks as our little girl was diagnosed with a sever case of Spina Bifida. Needless to say we are trying not to both be a huge bundle of nerves this time!!

Exercise wise, I am taking it very steady and doing nothing more strenuous than walking! (only because I have heard scare stories of peiople who have miscarried/lost babies after doing things like ...washing windows.)

Like some of you others I am super windy and now super constipated!!!

StarflowerGirl · 01/06/2010 15:36

Congrats PinkElephant! wow, you tested at work? You must be finding it impossible to concentrate on anything else now. I know I would be!

Congrats MrsTeapot! I can understand why you're nervous about telling anyone yet. I'm so sorry for your previous loss.

Congrats GinaFB! I'm so sorry to hear of your previous loss too. I completely agree about taking things very steady now and not doing anything strenuous.

I've had the confirmation that I have a nasty bladder infection. I've been prescribed a week long course of Amoxicillin (safe in pregnancy apparently) to get rid of it. I'm feeling a little better already just by knowing what it is because I was conjuring up all sorts of scary things!

PinkElephant73 · 01/06/2010 15:41

hi AppleCharlotte and Haz, thanks for your messages! AF was overdue and I have resisted testing until today as kept getting those AF type twinges as if about to start and but maybe was implantation pains instead. having been trying for 9 months on and off so did not want to get hopes up too much.

Anyway, today my willpower cracked and popped out at lunchtime to Superdrug to buy a test, quickly did it in the shopping centre loo before meeting a friend for lunch! (Didnt tell her either!)
I have resisted texting OH as want to tell him face to face tonight, but had to get it off my chest to someone

Mrs Teapot congrats how fab to have a honeymoon baby. dont worry too much about the mc, lots of people have a m/c with the first pg and no further problems. I am not going to tell anyone except OH til 12 weeks though, as I dont want to tempt fate either.

GinaFB you and I have the same due date I think! Fingers crossed all is ok for you this time round.

I need a wee constantly...I thought it was a serious case of symptom spotting but maybe not this time!

PinkElephant73 · 01/06/2010 15:43

PS Starflower Girl...dont tell my boss but I have not had the most productive day at work today! Hope your UTI clears up quickly and you feel better soon

GinaFB · 01/06/2010 15:59

PinkElephant73 I am up and down to the loo as well!!

We have told a few people, only close family though, after our loss earlier in the year we wanted to share the news immediately with those closest to us! Its so good to be able to come on here and talk about it though!

StarflowerGirl I really hope that you are feeling better soon, the antibiotics should clear it up soon shouldn't it?!?!

MrsTeapot207 · 01/06/2010 16:08

Oh PinkElly - that's so wonderful! I'm not surprised you haven't done a thing all day... Thank you for the encouraging message about the MC - I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

GinaFB - I'm so sorry for your loss too; it mmust have been an awful time for you. It's inevitably going to be tense this time, until you have all your tests done, but I'm sure you will get the very best attention. All good luck for you this time! Thinking of you... Thank you for the window washing tip mind - I hate that job, so that's me off the hook for aa few months, I hope

Starflowergirl - I have a very good friend who's a doctor, and although she dislikes the stuff, she drank a litre or two of cranberry juice a day throughout her last two pregnancies as she was tortured with bladder infections in her first one. She reckons it's the magic bullet. Hope you feel better soon!

And I confess, the constipation has hit me too! Good job I work from home and can trump to my heart's content without anyone being overcome by fumes.

personmaker · 01/06/2010 16:40

Hi everyone!

Got a positive result Saturday morning with a digital. My partner dipped and gave me the result - his face said everything though!

I have a 4 year old son, and brought him into the world fairly much alone, so having a loving, interested and enthusiatic daddy waiting in the wings is a new one for me!

Unsure of ovulation dates, but assume i'm due around 7th Feb. Retested this morning with a good old fashioned test and the line was so faint. My period is definitely due by now! Could this be because it wasn't an early morning sample (infact i had to squeeze enough out to test!)????

Have no symptoms except sore boobs - I was sick as a dog last time so i'm of course thinking the worse!

We're not telling anyone for a while...

Except you girls!

Hope to get to know you all over the coming months...

personmaker · 01/06/2010 16:45

Oh and i concur on the wind and constipation front! My toilet has just decided to block up too - dignity loss:commence.

suzym1984 · 01/06/2010 17:16

Hi everyone, my god I leave this thread for a few hours and there are loads of BFPs!

Pinkelephant Huge congratulations!!! How funny doing a test at work...bet you couldnt wipe the smile off your face!

Personmaker Welcome! and Congratulations! However, I am very sorry to hear about your blocked toilet .

I have been out to lunch today with a friend and had to rush home straight after as my stomach felt like it was going to burst! Never experienced wind like this before.

Oh, and I love the idea of pregnancy yoga! I can read back over the messages at who posted this, but could you please tell me where/what dvd you use?

Very excited for midwife tomorrow, 9.15am. Gonna hopefully get a scan date, but I will let you know what she says, and useful info!

Well, better go and eat my 4th meal of the day so far!

Oh and starflowergirl I hope you get rid of that nasty bladder infection soon, and get plenty of rest

earlgreyismynectar · 01/06/2010 18:38

Hello all! Thanks for your welcome and encouraging stories about faint lines! I'm going to re-test on AF day which is Thursday... I will let you know then.. It's lovely to read your stories and being able to share on here! Till then! ....

Dee36 · 01/06/2010 19:31

please can I join too ?! I should just say now I'm very excited to be here

wow - can't believe there are so many people here already ! how am I going to remember everyone's names ?!!

so, got a BFP on Friday last week after feeling weird last week - freezing cold, peeing all the time and just a bit strange. AF was due last Tuesday and I think I'm 5+4 and due on 4th Feb...

tested again last night just to be sure, and yes there's still a strong blue line. Haven't really felt properly sick yet but had a few wobbly moments and very gassy in the stomach

only people that know so far are me, my hubby and you gals... trying to work out when to tell and we think maybe parents and close friends at 8 weeks but undecided yet.. Going to docs tomorrow as need to work out what pills can be taken for my nasty hiatus hernia which gives me lots of acid at the best of times, never mind while being pg...

lovely to 'meet' you all and looking forward to sharing this journey with you....oh and congrats to everyone !

CluckyKate · 01/06/2010 20:44

Ooh - hello everyone [wavey]....can I join???

After 2 weeks of symptom spotting I finally tested positive last Thursday and now.....zero symptoms
Anyway, that now makes me bang on 5 weeks and due on 3rd Feb.

Anyway, am v. v. excited - so much so that we've already told parents (did the same this early on when expecting DD) and have spilt the beans to one or two select friends and, of course, you lot .

Last time I found the doctors to be completely hopeless & a complete waste of time so am bypassing them & going straight to the midwife....earliest they'll see me is at 8 weeks so fingers crossed I'll still be pregnant by then.

So, it's 5 weeks gone and just another 35 to go....gosh, isn't it going fast.

DetectivePotato · 01/06/2010 21:07

I need to join too!!!! Done 2 tests this afternoon. First the line was very faint and I wasn't sure. Got DH to get a first response test. Definite BFP.

According to online calculator I'm due on 9th Feb.

MissTFied · 01/06/2010 22:19

Hello all,

Congratulations to everyone, and thanks for the welcome.

I never joined boards with my others, so this will be a exciting experience.

It seems more real today, and especially now I've shared the secret with you lot.

I'm quite a night owl (only chance I get to concentrate on anything on my own, so I make the most of it) and will definitely be reading all your posts most evenings.

I think I'm due 5th Feb.

Good luck to all!

PS. People carriers are flippin' ugly. I shall have to research an alternative.

suzym1984 · 02/06/2010 08:14

Welcome and congratulations to Dee36, Cluckykate and Detectivepotato!

Dee36 I know what you mean about a few 'wobbly' moments! Last night I was in the cinema and thought I was going to faint or be sick (but SATC2 was fab!).

Cluckykate Youve told your parents already? That's amazing! How did you tell them? How did they take the news? Me and DH were going to wait till 8 weeks, but think I migh crack and tell my mam this weekend. I plan to text her the photo I took of the digital "pregnant".....or is that cheesey?

Detectivepotato welcome to the thread, isnt it lovely to have a due date? According to the online things I am due 2nd Feb!

Anyway, off to my midwife drop in session soon, wish me luck!

My DH is panicking saying that we didn't plan it properly as DS's birthday is 31st Jan and he was 10 days early. Considering that I have endometriosis and were told it was unlikely we would ever conceive naturally, especially after taking 3 years with DS, this one was after the first time trying!! Still can't believe it! I may need to do another test soon. Just to make sure.

Midwife app isn't until 23rd June. Grrr. I hate waiting.

Already told my dad, brothers, nan and grandad and MIL. Going to tell a few close friends and that will be it. I can't wait until 12 weeks to tell people as I figure if something awful happened, my closest friends and family would know anyway.

carabee · 02/06/2010 11:00

Hello all, so many feb babies - I can't keep up with you all!! I'm thinking about everyone and hoping you're all ok so far

I'm beginning to doubt i'm pregnant now - I don't seem to be as sick as I was last week - I did another digital test yesterday and it still was positive, but being a natural worrier, I'm wondering now......

I'm dreading telling my mum and dad, they're not the easiest people, and they don't like my dh - trouble is I'm 38!!!!!!!!!!!!!

suzym1984 · 02/06/2010 12:09

Detectivepotato I am pleased that you have told most of your family, as DH and I now think we will tell family tonight (I just cant keep it in any longer)!

carabee I keep taking tests, it is getting ridiculous now! I also feel a bit better today, although have had one dizzy spell. I had NO idea how crazy and worries pregnancy would make me! And good luck telling your mam and dad.

Well, I went to the midwife drop in and it was really good, I got a huge bag full of stuff- books, magazine, info cards, and also vouchers for freebies. I also had to say my hospital preference. She said that someone would be in touch in a few days to book booking in appt. To be honest, there was so much info that my head was spinning!

Have a lovely day everyone
