Hi everyone!

Well, I got my BFP on Friday morning and it is only just starting to sink in! According to my dates I am due 2nd Feb and I thought it would be nice to have a Feb babies thread, where we can all share our news/worries/excitement!

Cant wait to hear from you

Hi everyone!!

carabee I was very worried about telling my parents too, they can be difficult to predict, last pregnancy they reacted as if the world was coming to an end and then got better! This time they were thrilled. I think after losing the baby in Feb they had adjusted their thinking!

Has anyone else been told they are "glowing" yet!! My DP and a close friend at work both said it today! I now have a big cheesy grin on my face!!

Saw my GP to update her and she has said that she is going to write straight to the consultant in Southampton to make sure that I get consultant led care. She wants to make sure we get as many scans etc as possible to detect any problems early. Has anyone else had Consultant led instead of Midwife led care before?

Dee36 · 02/06/2010 13:29

suzym1984 - glad to hear you got to see the midwife - my appointment to be booked in is 3 weeks time !! So I went to the GP this morning and to be honest it was a total waste of time. So I'll just have to be patient now ! Advice is pretty unclear on whether I can take prescription tablets (omeprazole) for a hiatus hernia (hole in the top of my stomach) so I'm going with not at the moment.

My DH and I haven't told anyone yet and I think we're planning on doing it about 8 weeks but not sure if I'll make it that long without telling someone ! Esp as 3 close friends all pg, with one due only 6 weeks before me !

GinaFB my DH said I was glowing yesterday but I think I'd just put some bronzer on !

HazB2010 · 02/06/2010 16:46

hi all - just been to see my GP. He reckons I'm five weeks on, took BP, gave me a factsheet (don't smoke, don't drink), asked where I wanted to drop (OK, he phrased it more nicely), and sent me on my merry way with the Team Midwife answer phone number.Oh, and he has me down for 5 or 6 Feb due date : )
Waited 45 mins for a 2 min appt, but figure I'll have to get used to developing my patience.

HazB2010 · 02/06/2010 17:39

He also said my first scan would be at 15 weeks (thought it was earlier - how will I wait that long?!), and blood tests would start in week 7...

suzym1984 · 02/06/2010 18:42

oooh HAzB 15 weeks is a loooooong time! my sheet says that mine will be between 11 and 12 weeks, although MW did say I might have an earlier one as my dates are a little unclear.

Evening everyone,

Gosh things seem to be moving for a few of you.

IIRC, my surgery don't want to know until about 8-9 weeks when you have a pointless GP booking in session to sign a few forms, then you book a midwife appt and she comes out to see you in your own home.

HazB2010 - I'm guessing they don't offer you two scans where you are then? Is it just the one at 15 weeks?

Dee36 · 02/06/2010 20:09

yes mine said 12 weeks or so for the first scan and also think we're going to get a private nuchal scan done at some point between 11-14 weeks.

HazB2010 · 02/06/2010 20:09

Not sure - apparently the midwives will ring me 'sometime' so I'm going to quiz them. Hope Dr was saying 15 weeks so when I get an earlier one, i.e. at 12 weeks, it makes them look good! Not that impressed otherwise...

diddygirl · 02/06/2010 20:10

Hello everyone

Please can I join tooooo??!!! I got my BFP last Thurs which means I'll be due on 4th Feb!

Just a question, have been getting sore tummy aches every morning, so much so that they have been waking me up. Then when I go to the loo there is very light brownish spotting. This will be my second child and I don't remember any of this first time round. Is this 'normal'?

Not told anyone yet, currently on holiday. Can't wait to start telling people!

All the best to fellow February arrivals xx

earlgreyismynectar · 03/06/2010 06:26

Hello again everyone!

Congratulations to everyone with pregnancy confirmed and loads of luck if you're still waiting!

Well, the back of 5am this morning I test with the first pee of the day, today is AF day and oh my goodness, I got a very strong positive!! (you were right all who said it'll get stronger!) I'm pregnant and can't quite believe it despite feeling it!! I had to wait for that clear cross to appear! Oh and you gals are officially the first to know as DP is offshore and won't phone till lunchtime!! According to date calculator my due date is Feb 11th. I think I'll make appt to see the nurse for additional medical led confirmation... Feel queasy but think it might be butterflies...

Suzym, hasB, starflower, thanks for your welcome, star - hope you're feeling better. MissT I'm thrilled for you too and your blossoming family! People carrier-tastic! You must be able to get nice ones?! Or what about a proper old fashioned VW campervan?! Orange and white with an awning... :-) Hello pink elephant, mrs teapot and carabee. I'm 39, trying not to focus too much on age but I was 35 with my last and thrilled to not be classed as officially old back then! Wondering what may be different this time around. Feel fit & healthy though! Carabee, I too have concerns about telling some people, not so much family as friends as judgement has been made on DP and I don't always help but I see this as a new chapter. Keeping it from my friends till at least 3 months as I was let down last time by a (still) v good friend who simply could not contain her excitement & little did I know it was all around work at 6 weeks! She has felt suitably terrible ever since! So this one is going to be a big fat secret at work for as long as poss! I'll tell my family though.

Everyone else hello! :-) I really look forward to sharing over the next few months now I'm officially on the Feb11 thread! All the best x

diddygirl, I'm not sure about your symptoms but if I were you would see a doc to be on the safe side, take care x

suzym1984 · 03/06/2010 08:29

Welcome and congratulations diddygirl! Its so exciting that we are all due around the same time!

I too keep getting tummy pains every morning, and I think I might be wind . Try peppermint tea if you think the same. I also have had some brown spotting, had it all week when af was due. Every morning when I wiped, but not enough to use a pad. MW said that its fine as long as blood isnt red, or accompanined by strong pains. If u are unsure tho, give your GP a ring

earlgrey congrats on finally getting your BFP! I feel honoured that we are the first to know!

Well, DH and I told our parents and brothers and sisters last night...they were SO excited!! Both mams are already taling about retiring now! and my mam is going to get a new bathroom to get rid of the shower cubicle and have a nice big bath for grandkids! so much excitement all round!

StarflowerGirl · 03/06/2010 09:04

Congrats diddygirl. I've been getting tummy pains in the morning too and had a teeny bit of spotting on Monday but none since. If you're feeling anxious or worried I think it really would set your mind at rest to talk to your GP or practice nurse (if they have one). It's always better to ask and be told it's normal than be worrying about it.

suzym Glad your first midwife meeting went well. I hope I get a bag of freebies when I eventually get to see one. I'm anybody's for a bag of freebies! I'm glad I'm not the only one still testing too. I've run out of "proper" tests and have only got internet cheapies left which are not the easiest things to test with especially since this infection means I'm barely passing the faintest dribble of wee at the moment.

Thanks everyone for you well wishes. I'm feeling a bit better today having spent yesterday in bed resting up. Still feel quite queasy in the mornings but it seems to wear off around lunchtime.

We told M's (my partner) mum yesterday and she was shocked but thrilled. I'm trying to work up the courage to tell my dad as he doesn't handle change very well and I'm worried he'll be disappointed as he really wants me to finish studying for my degree. I feel a bit silly though; I'm 35 and I'm scared of telling my dad that I'm pregnant!

banana87 · 03/06/2010 09:42

Hi all,

Can I join too? Got my BFP on holiday in Malaysia on Sun (faint line) then a BFP on CBD on Monday. Due date 5th Feb. I have one DD who is 20 months.

I have had a bit of brown discharge only when I wipe and last night serious cramps ( I ended up having to take 6 Neurofen over 12 hours...on the plane, a complete nightmare!) but I think it might have been wind pain.

Going to the GP today just to check I am not having a m/c, not that they will be able to tell me this early.

As for symptoms, tired yet anxious so not sleeping well, hungry but then quickly go off food, a bit queasy at times, lightheaded, and majorly sensitive...tearing up over commercials on TV! Boobs slightly painful and feel bigger, nipples seem to be getting darker....

Off to catch up on this thread and looking forward to getting to "know" you all!!

StarflowerGirl · 03/06/2010 13:38

Welcome banana congrats on your BFP! What a wonderful place to test positive - Malaysia! I'm more than a bit jealous. I hope your GPs appointment goes well. Please let us know how you get on.

lindamgw · 03/06/2010 15:52

Hello all,

I haven't ever joined one of these things before but thought I would as I am new to all this...

Not entirely sure whether I'm pregnant or not, we weren't trying as such, but I had come off the pill, had my first pill-free period and was due to start my period on Sat, nothing as yet. Just bought a pregnancy test and am now waiting til tomorrow morning to see if I actually am!

It's all a bit weird at the moment, don't want to get happy yet in case I am not... scary stuff!!!

MrsTeapot207 · 03/06/2010 17:05

Carabee - Don't worry, your mum and dad will adore their grandchild, despite how they feel about your dh. And as for the age thing, just do it! I wish I'd started sooner..I'm 42, and hoping this pregnancy will become my first, and probably only, child.

Like you, I'm now doubting I'm preganant too. It's all feeling a bit surreal, actually. I don't think it will sink in until a. I see the little thing waving at me on a scan or b. I have some other symptoms apart from humungus bosoms and a weariness.

Mind, I think my mind is going already - I've lost my garden trowel somewhere this afternoon, planting out some petunias. Can't find it anywhere! And I've just found the dishcloth in the fridge. Hmmm....

MrsTeapot207 · 03/06/2010 17:17

GinaFB - I just read your post! I had consultant-led care during my last (alas, short) pregnancy. It was because I was over 40, but I was very grateful for it in the end. He was wonderful, and very caring during the gloomy days when my mc became inevitable. I found him easy to talk to, and, even when he was busy delivering babies etc, his support team were fantastic. I always had someone to talk to.

I'm hoping I get him again this time!

Good luck!

PS: I think I'm due 2nd Feb, but I'll see what the midwife says at my first appointment on June 22nd - can't wait!

diddygirl · 03/06/2010 18:21

Thank you so much for your replies. I know you are not doctors but it helps to hear other people have/are experiencing the same symptoms. I will make an appt to see my doc when I get back to the UK.

Shall we start a list of all our due dates??

Here's mine:

Hello everyone! I've done four positive tests and period was due today so I'm really hoping it's not a chemical pregnancy. Really glad to hear also that other people have had low backache - I've had that, a generally strange feeling around my middle and wind - but not sickness or big boobs, which worried me. Sounds like that might be normal though ... I'm seeing the dr tomorrow so will find out for sure then.
Can I ask - what is AF? Does it mean your period?
I also wondered - is there a list of sensible questions you should ask your dr when you first go anywhere on mumsnet? I know I'll walk out and think of a million things I wanted to know!

Mrsteapot my mind is also going already......god knows what I'll be like later in the pregnancy! I cant seem to string a sensible sentence together!

HazB very brave of you watching one born every minute! I watched it first time round, but not sure now that I am pregnant.Im still trying to pretend that labour wont happen!

grumpling Congrats and welcome! AF stands for "aunt flow"......so yep, your period!

Wow I can't keep up! This thread is growing. Hello everyone who's joined, its so nice to read about people with exactly the same symptoms. Is anyone else really really thirsty all the time? I can't get enough water in me at the moment. Is that normal? This is all so new and strange.
