Hi everyone!

Well, I got my BFP on Friday morning and it is only just starting to sink in! According to my dates I am due 2nd Feb and I thought it would be nice to have a Feb babies thread, where we can all share our news/worries/excitement!

Cant wait to hear from you

Hi all, new here. 5 weeks and supposed due date 23rd Feb. Was yesterday playing a quiz game a t a pub and one of the questions was: which star sign would you be if you were born on the 23rd of Feb? Spooky!
Have my first GP appointment on Wed. Do they always do a scan early on? I'd love to know if all is ok.

Congrats on all the twin posibilities round here!

Ledkr - Im glad your IBS has settled - I wish mine had too. I get terrible cramps that can last for up to 20-30 mins. It's teaching me breathing control which can't be bad, but just worried the effects on pregnancy and work. I used to take peppermint oil capsules which worked well but am reluctant to take anything during so early on on in preg tho I'm sure they're ok as they're natural. Thoughts on work?

Welcome knittakid!! Congrats!

sweetnitanitro · 27/06/2010 12:17

Congrats and welcome knittakid is this your first? Normally you get a scan at around 12 weeks but you can pay to have an early one if you like.

ledkr I did wonder if it was that as well but I was running around like a loon yesterday and it wasn't til I sat down to feed DD that I got any cramps. Maybe I was just too busy to get cramps

ledkr · 27/06/2010 14:00

i told work very early on as it was a very new job(got transfered)and had such bad pains that thought would start to mc and thought i would have to go home or to dr and wanted them to realise i was not taking the p.I kind of glad i told them too cos one day evryone was helping carry some heavy boxes and i had to say i had a bad back!!which is not a complete lie

gigglet · 27/06/2010 14:43

Hello everyone, I've been on a lovely holiday for the past week and I'm slowly catching up with all the posts.

Although I'm only 5+2, I managed to put on a kilo over the holiday! I would like to blame it on the pregnancy but I can't

I get light headed really easily and my boobs just permanently hurt... no other symptoms yet.

I'm really dreading morning sickness. I'm hoping I'm one of the lucky ones who don't get it.

KnitterNotTwitter · 27/06/2010 19:22

Hey gorgeous people. I've started the new post here.

See you there soon....

angels1 · 27/06/2010 19:23

Hello all. Not a great week end for me - symptoms seem to be worsening - I can't do anything for long before I become overwhelmed with tiredness and HAVE to lie down. Tis frustrating Also not helped by the hot weather and loud neighbours waking me up half the night last night so I couldn't sleep properly

tabbycat I sympathise with IBS - I suffer quite badly. Haven't had any terrible spasms yet since pg, just the usual bloating etc. If you IBS is anything like mine (where in the space of 10 minutes you can be fine to doubled up in agony unable to move) it could make working really difficult. The only thing that really helps me mid spasm is to lie still and take buscopan, but we probably can't take that at the min. I don't know how I'd cope if I got a bad spasm at work - I mean, I just can't walk when it gets bad. Maybe telling your employers your concern and see what they say or ask doctors advice? It's hard as I think people hear 'IBS' and think you just have to go to the loo all the time, they actually don't realise how painful it can be You can take peppermint oil as a preventative (or at least help) daily, but not sure on pg women (I know you can overdose on ginger in pg, so maybe the same is the case for peppermint).
good luck on the twins btw

sweetnitanitro · 27/06/2010 19:50

angels I was prescribed Buscopan in my last pregnancy (wrongly, I didn't have gastroenteritis in the end ) so it is safe to take but I would probably talk it over with your GP first.

brockleyD -- Yes, FMC did an external scan at around 8-9 weeks when I was pregnant with DD. The woman doing it did say that they'd do a transvaginal scan if they couldn't get a clear image, but said it in a tone that implied that it was very unlikely they'd need to IYSWIM. It was very clear and she even switched to 3D for part of it, which I found easier to see what was what at that stage as you could see the little arm and leg buds. I think I will probably cave and get one done there again this time, and possibly do a private nuchal scan there as well as they factor in more things than the NHS scan. Apart from anything else I am paranoid about twins. I have taken to referring to this pregnancy as "the triplets" to freak DH out and I think subconsciously something has stuck...

Congratulations on your own twins, tabbycat!
