Hi spikeycat, try buying the travel sickness bands they are for morning sickness too. There are no side effects and after a few days I can sense an improvement (not a big one mind), but anything is better than the way I have been feeling. Or if you have a juicer, try jucing peaches and root ginger or apples and root ginger it honestly works, I was quite shocked but it really does. If you haven't a juicer, just add crushed root ginger to your fav juice. These are the only suggestions I have at the mo, sorry if they are of no help. Phoned the docs this morning to see if I get an earlier appointment than the one I have been given 5th of September!!! first visit to the midwife. Apparently it is normal in my area to have your first appointment with them at 12 weeks, but I am sure with ds I was seen at 8 weeks. Seems such a long time to wait just to hear a heart beat. Oh well 4 more weeks to go eh. Hope everyone else is feeling ok today.

morocco · 23/07/2003 11:04

morning everyone
sorry to hear about the morning sickness spikeycat - I just feel a bit queasy when I brush my teeth but last time it was v late about 10 weeks before I got it - it lasted til 4 months though! As yours has started nice and early at least it should finish early too! I drank lots of ginger tea and changed my toothpaste to something non minty as that just made me puke. also eating biscuits or crackers in bed before you get up might settle your stomach a bit.

can we get our exemption certificates yet then? my last one hasn't run out yet!

how ya doing lewei?

spikeycat · 23/07/2003 11:14

My last one hasn't run out either!!! I'm still waiting for the midwive to call, aparently round here THEY visit YOU through the pregnancy, oh well, I'll call if I don't hear anything by tomorrow. Thanks for all the tips everyone

spikeycat · 23/07/2003 11:22

thats done it, Ds was crawling round the living room when he burped, brought up his porridge and when I caught him he was playing with his sick, cue me - Sick!! He thought it very funny

Tillysmummy · 23/07/2003 13:39

Sorry your feeling sick SpikeyCat. No great tips just what the other have suggested. I found ginger drinks very helpful last time and eating regularly (every 10 mins !!!) - white toast was all I fancied with butter so I ate loads of it.
Hi Quackers, im fine thank you. Still lots of funny pains around that area but that's it.

quackers · 23/07/2003 13:49

Oh, so you have pains too, that'sreassuring! I read that webiste about nuchals. Its very good! I recognise the consultant from the telly!!
Spikeycat, how's it going this afters, still sicky?

Tillysmummy · 23/07/2003 14:01

Yes all the time. Shooting pains and sometimes period type pains. Really irritating ! Not to mention worrying !

spikeycat · 23/07/2003 14:04

Not so bad now, when josh went for his afternoon nap I had alie down, was just drifting off when the little tike woke up - I am sure he has a built in radar that goes off when mummy is about to go to sleep!

quackers · 23/07/2003 14:24

They do!! They not as dumb as you think are they!! TM, I asked about this on the m/c after pg thread. The general response is it's normal to have some pains like this. I have never been a worrier. Even when I bled at 8 weeks with my DD I just remained calm. I am an absolute bag of nerves and obssesedthis time! Must be cos you don't know what to feel first time and then with next pgs, you wonder why this, why that! Compare to m/c baby all the time too.
Lewei! How's that finger, how you doing!

chiggles · 24/07/2003 08:05

Just popping to say 'Hello' to everyone again. Just scanned through recent messages and am reassured to see that others of you don't have any sickness yet. I get like a muscle pain in my tummy sometimes when I get up, got them with my first too but that was after a few months. Haven't gone off coffee yet and I did the first time, couldn't even smell it without feeling sick.
Elvis, just to let you know, with my first I felt sick all the time for the first 3 months, (never was though, think that's cause I can't stand it!) if I was eating I was OK and I had a boy.
Glad you're all getting on OK. It seems funny telling people I haven't even met about this when dh family still haven't been told. O well, they can wait.

quackers · 24/07/2003 09:05

HiChiggles, glad your ok and doing just as we are! No sickness etc... I get that muscle pain, like cramp when gettingup! Its the muscles being so relaxed - shame I'm not!!! My back aches already, god help me if I get to 7 months+ !!

chatee · 24/07/2003 09:55

well morning everyone, how are we all?
had my scan on tuesday and saw the little"bean" and heartbeat.consultant was brilliant and has an interest in 'unusual'shaped uterus and talked through all my questions (and more).Dh nearly passed out when she said i can confirm there is only one in there
Has given me a high dose folic acid for the next month and booked me in for another scan in a months time and put me in the high risk pregnancy clinic-so i'm quite relaxed at the moment other than the morning sickness and the horrendous backache at night.
DD enjoyed her stay at Nanny and Grandad house so we're in the process of getting her back into shape after being spoilt rotten and having sole attention at the slightest whim!but it's good to have her home-i did enjoy doing nothing on monday
Well thinking of you all lol

morocco · 24/07/2003 10:42

great news chatee about the scan - consultant sounds a bit funny - fancy anyone having an interest in unusual shpaed uteruses!! great dinner party conversation I imagine. Of course, I'm joking and it's great that you have found somone who is so helpful.

welcome back chiggles

how are you today spikeycat? I read on the other message about your dodgy curry - have you been to the docs yet?

today I have a bad cold and feel like crap - haven't been ill for about a year so typical that this arrives now and in the middle of summer too. Am I right in remembering that our immune systems are lowered right now and that's why we pick up these bugs more easily?

thinking of you today lewei

Tillysmummy · 24/07/2003 12:11

Chatee how any weeks are you ? Just i am going to go for an early scan too and was thinking of going at 7 weeks.
I feel sick today and excruciatingly tired again. Going to make the most of dd's nap now. I will hopefully chat to you all later.

chatee · 24/07/2003 13:20

i reckon 7-8 weeks and consultant agreed but will do a dating scan at 12 weeks
lewei hope you're ok- someone earlier on the thread said about the fear of the toilet and i do agree with them

LEWEI · 24/07/2003 13:43

Hi everyone, I am still around. Well so far so good, yesterday and today were my real danger days.
I had some nasty period pains last night but they were gone this morning, no bleeding at all. I will wait till monday before feeling more +ve.
Good signs are the morning sickness has worsened and i have a craving for sausages with sweet chilli dip!!!!!!
The finger is healing well and the boobs are growing by the day!!!
Hope you are all well.

quackers · 25/07/2003 09:16

Morning all! How is everyone? I rang the hospital yesterday to clarify about an early scan as I was getting worried. I spoke to my consultants Sec and she was so nice. She said she would look out for my referral and would deal with it, so my mind has been our at ease a bit. Annoying when your area has no EPU or policy for early scans. I made my presence known! Glad you saw the little bean Chatee, must be SO reassuring!!

Tillysmummy · 25/07/2003 15:31

Hi Quackers et all. God I feel sick today. Two days now of feeling v sick. I know it sounds bizarre but im quite pleased. How is everyone else ? Did my 5th pregnancy test yesterday ! I am not normal....

quackers · 25/07/2003 15:40

Hi TM, good to hear from you. Bet you're glad you're feeling sick. I feel a bit nauseous today but nothing of note. My skin is terrible, all greasy and getting spots and I couldn;t keep of the loo this am. I had spots with my first but not the one I lost so feel a little more confident today. I still don't know when you're due. Doc gave me a good way of working it out - add 9 months and 7 days. So my last P was 20th June, so I would be due 27th March, or therabouts. All the websites give me earlier because they allow for my short cycle. This is the time apparantly when those HCG levels start to go through the roof!

Tillysmummy · 25/07/2003 16:57

Hi Quackers, I do feel very sick indeed. Glad you are too. It's a good sign isn't it ? So you saw the doctor for your booking in today ? Is that 9 months and 7 days for me too ? And is it from the first or last day of period.

quackers · 25/07/2003 17:03

First day of P. Add on 9 months and then another 7 days. I'm not sick, sick, I just felt a little queasy this am, but I have only ever had little bits anyway. Skin is really annoying though! Good sign though, means my jormones are raging!!

quackers · 28/07/2003 10:11

Morning all, how is everyone today? Well I'm 5 and 1/2 weeks now. It is going very slow!!! I found out very early so this first bit has dragged. In fact now I think I found out when I was 3 weeks. I had only implanted the day before and I did a test. Gosh that was nearly 3 weeks ago. I am never off the toilet and have felt a little queasy in the eves - not morning, same as with my first. Tea and coffee - yuk, I am stuck for things to drink, I wasn't a big tea and coffee drinker before but there's only so many glasses of Ribena a day i can have!!!

Hilary · 28/07/2003 11:37

I'm not on hot drinks at all either as hot seems to make my tummy churn, as does milk. So my drinks of choice are water, ribena and vanilla coke - have you tried it? For some reason it does seem to help with the sicky feeling a bit. As well as being delicious that is!

quackers · 28/07/2003 11:50

Hi Hilary! Yes I like vanilla coke too. It's in the morning when I get up mmm ribena or milk?? Big decision eh!! Miss tea but tastes awful! I'm really hungry today - going for an early lunch!

Neen99 · 28/07/2003 12:00

Just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS to you all!

IMO March is the best time of year to have a baby - you'll have a lovely bump to snuggle up to and keep you warm during the Winter months, you'll probably be going on maternity leave when the weather is still wet and windy and all your workmates will be jealous! The run up to Christmas makes all those slow middle months go a lot quicker too!

I had my ds1 in March last year, and had a fantastic pregnancy with him, it was so lovely when we came home from hospital with him, and the daffodils had come out in the garden.
The weather was lovely in months after having him, not too hot but lovely and fresh and sunny so we could go on lots of walks and outings with him.

This time round (I'm due to have another baby in 3 weeks) it's been a lot less enjoyable pregnancy, because of the weather mainly.
My Winter pregnancy was so much better!

So, sorry to hijack your thread, just wanted to say good luck to you all, enjoy it!
