Good luck Lewei this week, I know the 24th is the day and will be thinking of u!
I would love some tomato soup!!! I had Tesco fresh veg yesterday and it was heaven!!!

moosh · 21/07/2003 19:43

Hi everyone. Not visiting this thread as often as you guys but its nice to read all your symptoms because they are exactly the same as mine. Still feeling very nauseas (excuse spelling if wrong) and smells really getting to me now. All food tastes really nasty now, but in the same context I can't stop thinking about food, but am forcing myself to eat because I need the nutrients. I am trying out the travel sickness bands at the moment, especially for work where I can't sit down and relax. I think they are working a little bit, willing to try anything. My tummy is swelling so quickly this time, with d.s now 3.5 I began to show at 6 months and then ballooned, but this time I am ballooning already !!! Hope you are all well and will probably post next week but will keep reading your notes. I have to limit myself to once a week or I will be well and truly hooked on mumsnet because it is addictive.

Elvis · 21/07/2003 21:22

I'm still here!! Have been busy with ds birthday party, work night ut (watching everyone else get very drunk while sipping my 15th glass of water!!!) and generally feeling crappy. I threw up for the first time ever last night - grim. This is the first pg where I've had real nausea. Dh thinks this means it's a girl. Anyone agree??? Why does everything smell so strong? I feel like I'm living in a world where the smell level has been turned up to high. However, all healthy signs as I keep telling myself.

Tillysmummy · 22/07/2003 10:34

Hi Quackers et all. Didn't manage to get on yesterdy, had a friend all day.
well I can safely say I don't feel pregnant at all. Just got a bit of a funny mouth taste, sore boobs and the odd tummy pain but really want to feel sick. Oh feel tired and quite dizzy sometimes too.
Maybe it's too early for morning sickness? I seem to remember last time it was around 6-7 weeks.
How is everyone. Miss paranoid pants this end !

quackers · 22/07/2003 11:03

HI TM, good to hear form you!! I don't feel aprticulalry pg. I have back ache and headaches almost every day which is annoying, no sickness yet though. V Tired most days too. It's still early for us I think. With my first it didn't start until 6 weeks so we'll have to hang fire. WEll, just been to Doc's, not my ususal one. He was ok but gave my EDD as 29/3/04!!! which is ridiculous as my cycle is only 24/25 days. I'm 5 weeks today but he has me as 4 weeks and 2 days!! I kow in the grand scheme it doesn't matter but in thr early days nearly a week can make a difference. I said my cycle is short. I even know I conceived on day 11. He didn't send me for a blood test either and I'm RH neg! I asked for an early scan and he said 'who told you that'! I said my other Doc and the hospital did. So in the end he requested an early scan. No idea when it will be though. Sorry I'm grumbling. Just a bit frustrated. I think I'll go back in a couple of weeks and see my ususal Doc.

Tillysmummy · 22/07/2003 11:25

Hi Quackers. Well your experience sounds near same as mine. My docs has the most incompitent excuses for secretaries ever !!! They booked me an appointment for yesterday with doc when I said last week that I couldn't make antenatal clinic tomorrow. When went to docs yesterday he said 'oh they should have booked you a double appointment' and seemed to not have time to do half the things, no dipstick to test the wee I so carefully collected in ever so clean tuppa ware pot !!! He did give me an early scan form though. Don't know when I can do this though. Don't want to go too early.
When do you think it can be done / from what stage ? I think last time I had it done at about 7 or 8 weeks.
I am feeling grumbly today too ! So we can grumble together.
How is everyone else ? Does anyone have the fear of going to the loo I do ? It's ridiculous but I am nervous every time I go of something falling out.

Elvis · 22/07/2003 12:59

I had an early scan a couple of weeks ago. Apparently the heartbeat can be seen at 6 weeks, so any time from then I think.

quackers · 22/07/2003 13:17

Yes, I think they can do an internal one at 6 weeks to see heartbeat but where I am I think they do abdominal at 8 weeks. I don't know when I will get it though the Doc just put a note on the bottom of my form to the consultant to say 'has been promised an early scan' crap eh! There so backward here!! I had my first down south and they were fab as I had early bleeding in that one, funnily enough, she was ok in the end. It's the last pg where I didn't bleed that didn't make it. I just feel like they brush you off and I know my ususal Doc wouldn't have done that. isn't it funny how you grumble about small things. I just want to feel that they recognise I need an early scan and abit of extra care - no blood test though is poor. Will go back in a couple of weeks.
TM, that's really poor too. I bet they were rushing you , how frustrating. I didn't take a sample, but he asked where it was. He did do weight, b/p etc... Oh I will just have to hang fire and chill out a bit. Moany day 2day!!! Doctors!!

Tillysmummy · 22/07/2003 13:41

Thanks Elvis and Quackers. I may wait till I am 7 weeks and then go. On the other hand next week is tempting.

They did bp and weight and told me all the things I shouldn't do
Have to make another appointment on a Wednesday for a blood test and real booking in.

quackers · 22/07/2003 13:47

Souns good TM, at least they book u in properly etc... I'm really cheesed off!! Will be going back defo for a blood test. Going off to start a thread on neighbours extensions. Ours has just had one done and they have had a great big window put in overlooking our garden!!

Tillysmummy · 22/07/2003 14:00

God, another 11 weeks to know that everything is ok. Seems like an age....

quackers · 22/07/2003 14:08

Why is it 11 weeks? I thought you were going for scan at 7/8 weeks? Did you get a due date yet? I bet you're given earlier as your cycle is longer so we may have a few days between us after all. Can't be many though. Are you at work today? Is it Tus you're i the office? I know you;re at home Fri's. Graet being p/t isn;t it!! I bought a good pg book yesterday, all I seem to do is go on Mumsnet and read pg books!!! At work at home, you'd think we'd be sick of it!! I coud watch the discovery health channel again yesterday! Its been 5 months since I could watch it and now it makes me blubber - big baby aren't I!!!

morocco · 22/07/2003 14:14

sorry to hear some of you are getting the run around at the doctors. Can I ask what a 'booking in' appointment is?
I've got my scan on Friday and am v nervous about the whole thing but don't feel any different to how I did before and all was OK last week so we'll see. This time if all is OK there should be a little heart beating away. I think though that 6 weeks is pretty much the earliest date for seeing the heart . Last time I was scanned at 5 weeks 4 days as the dates were out a bit and the doc didn't see a heartbeat and wrote 'possible abnormal pregnancy' or something like that on my notes - I was so upset and cried for days. Then I had another scan a week later and voila - heart beating away fine - he was just a bit younger than expected.

Poor dh is stil puking his guts at home - moral - don't eat month old manky lettuce that's been festering in a plastic bag at the bag of the fridge. Now you know why I refused it!

Can I ask you guys another question - I've already asked eleswher on mumsnet but I'd like your opinions too. When are you going to visit the hospitals to have a look round/talk to midwives? I'm getting obsessed about it already - desperate to avoid c section if at all possible. Do you think it's OK to phone up and ask the hospitals about their policies even if you're less than 2 months pregnant?

Minor disaster on the 'avoid toxoplasmosis' front today. The kitten had for some strange reason decided to do a poo in the kitchen sink - bleurrgh. I cleaned it up before I even thought about it and then spent the next half hour washing my hands in bleach. B*gger

quackers · 22/07/2003 14:23

Hi Morocco, glad you didn't have an experience with the lettuce!!! Poor DH!!
I remember our hospital didn't show us round the unit until I was about 32-34 weeks. It was the last week of parentcraft classes and I was petrified when I saw it! They showed me this high risk room and I thought , don't want o go there - where did I end up - the high risk room. It was fine though, really, DD had very abnormal heart beats, one minute 190 bpm and then 50 bpm so was induced. Seeing programmes on telly makes me think she should have been Cesaerian though. Glad she got out ok!!! Or there would have been big trouble!!! I would ring up if you want to, the receptionists sometimes are able to deal with stuff like that.

Tillysmummy · 22/07/2003 14:30

Quackers, I mean another 11 weeks until I can stop worrying so much although of course I know that I can mc later than that just less likely. Hey ho. Will just have to wait and see.
Hi Morocco I have decided that I am not going to have early scan before 7 weeks. Worried about it not showing up. Sorry about your dh being poorly ! Re hospital show arounds. I concur with Quackers, with my dd I didn't get an appointment until about 32 weeks. Even then there were a lot of people further gone than me. Good luck !
Don't worry about the cat pooh, im sure it will be fine. I ate a medium rare steak on Sat and thought to myself at the time I shouldn't be doing it but it was too late, completely forgot until too late.

Tillysmummy · 22/07/2003 14:32

Sorry Quackers, forgot to say, yes am in office today and tomorrow pm (have seminar in morning).

quackers · 22/07/2003 14:36

Oh I see TM, yes absolutley. I agree about the scan though. Doe sthta mean you can just go along and get scanned when you feel like for your early one?? The normal first scan here is 16/17 weeks!!!! Terrible and then again at 19/20!! We don't even book in properly with the hospital until 16 weeks. Bit backward here. I got a scan at 8,12,14 and 16 weeks with my DD at the previous hossie. Medium rare steak!! OOOh I had steak too on Saturday, love it with chillies on!! I adore hotf food. Curries knocked me sick in my last pg but this time I crave them!!!

Tillysmummy · 22/07/2003 15:13

I love hot too ! The more chilli the better. Another reason for dh to tell me off ! What does sthta mean ? So you had a lot of scans with dd?
I will go for my early scan on the NHS and then will pay to go privately for my nuchal scan between 10 and 14 weeks and then next NHS one is about 20 weeks I think. Where are you living ?

quackers · 22/07/2003 17:14

Just my bad typing TM!!!! Sorry. I was trying to ask if you could choose to go along when u like for an early scan.
I was going to ask tyou about this tommorow!! I wanted to know where I could get a nuchal scan and how much it would cost. Thought you might know and be able to recommend? I don't get one here - Isle of Man. They only routinely scan at 16 weeks, but hopefully i will get an initial one at 8/9 weeks. Obviously I'll have to come over for it.

Tillysmummy · 22/07/2003 20:20

Quackers I think I can choose. Don't really know he just gave me the slip and told me to go along so I guess so.

The place where I had it done before is the Fetal Medicine Centre in London. The web address is www.fetalmedicine.com

They book you from between 10 and 14 weeks. Good luck and let me know how you get on. I have stuffed my face again with Green & Blacks dark choc ice cream. Yum !

quackers · 22/07/2003 21:16

Thanks TM. Is the nuchal important to you? I can't work out at the mo, but feel it would be ebenficial if they won't scan at 12 weeks here and want to leave me till 16 weeks, Couldn't do that. have really bad twinges where baby is implanted. Hope its just growing pains! I'll check out that website! Cheers!

spikeycat · 23/07/2003 08:07

Morning sickness kicked in this morning - help - I never had this last time and I feel rotten

quackers · 23/07/2003 09:03

Oh dear! Am I right that you're about 6/7 weeks now. I was starting to worry a bit that I don't feel sick yet but I'm only 5 weeks today, even though Doc says I'm 4+4.
TM, how are you today? Moaning over and a new day! Although feel a bit moody today I'm not as tired so hopefully ahev a good day. Am going to try and go swimming in my lunch hour but its raining and hate coming back out in the rain - hope it stops! Hey, another pg bonus - FREE dental treatment - got Dentists tonight, I'm going to see if he can do any jobs on my teeth for free! Wayhay!!
How are you all? Lewei, Chiggles etc....
I think we will have a new addition soon. Terri, I read on another thread is pg and hopefully coming to join us!

spikeycat · 23/07/2003 10:00
