Hello! Have been directed this way by quakers for advice from spikeycat - am pregnant with 5 and a half month old and bit taken aback, not yet been to doctors and not told parents! Bit nervous of peoples reactions!! We are all fine with small age gap, but daunting nonetheless. Knackered already, not lost weight from last time, completely unfit etc, still breastfeeding twice / three times a day. Any tips?!

quackers · 28/07/2003 13:11

Hi SJR!! Welcome!! Spikeycat hasn't been around today - yet! Just wanted to say welcome to this thread and great to have you here. Hope we all do well!!

sjr · 28/07/2003 13:16

Thanks again! Have just been reading about the virtues of vanilla coke ... i've never even heard of it but am going to give it a whirl!

andi1 · 28/07/2003 13:23

Am also due in March and this will be first pregnancy. All very exciting for us both!

Tillysmummy · 28/07/2003 13:55

Hello all and congratulations and welcome to the new arrivals.

Well I feel well and truly sick today ! Nevermind. Vanilla coke ?? May have to give that a whirl. Drinking lemonade by the gallon at the moment
I too have a new best friend Quackers, the loo !!!

quackers · 28/07/2003 14:00

Lovely isn't it! Good to hear from you TM!! Missed you! I feel alittle more queasy now but not majorly at the mo. Just have to plan my journeys so that there's toilet on route just in case! Reminds me of the weeks before my first was born - I was on the loo every 15 mins! I could have wrote a book on the toilets where I live!!
Welcome to all new arrivals!!

Tillysmummy · 28/07/2003 14:24

Hi Quackers,
Great to hear from you too ! 5 weeks and 5 days are we !!! Not that im counting or anything !! Ha ha !
Feeling quite queasy this pm. Felt fine this morning. Seem to be constantly hungry at mo. Don't remember being like that with dd. Do you ?

quackers · 28/07/2003 14:49

You're as bad as me - counting! Yes I have felt a little queasy all day today, nothing major but enough to satisfy my urge for sickness. I am SO hungry though, need regular boosts of food! No I wasn't bothered about food with my DD!! I have been on the April thread too as my dd was over a week late, so as i have nothing better to do at work I might hover a lttle!

sjr · 28/07/2003 15:01

Am also constantly hungry, but what's best to satisfy? Tricky isn't it?!

quackers · 28/07/2003 15:04

I love soup and crusty bread or weetabix. With my first I had about 6 weetabix a day - I adored it! I haven't really gone off anything yet and usually have done by now. I just need spicy food, as much as possible. Don't like rich food though at the mo, just simple fish fingers, chips and beans anyday!!!

sjr · 28/07/2003 15:10

Chips and weetabix seem to do the trick for me too - separately of course - mind you, there's a thought ...!

quackers · 28/07/2003 15:19

oooh, that could be interesting!! I love chips!!!! Could eat them all the time, but don't unfortunately. What date are u due?

chatee · 28/07/2003 15:19

hi all. this has been a busy thread this morning!
well i'm still getting the sicky feelings and a really bad backache at night(funny i know i had them with dd but don't remember it being this bad!)
i too have to eat small amounts and often ...dd is enjoying her mid afternoon biscuit(normally fruit but mummy has a choc chip cookie attack)around this time
welcome sjr and andi1 hope you're both well...
Lewei how are you??
quackers-know what you mean about simple food, no sunday roast for us yesterday muumy fancied mash potatoes, sausages, carrots and broccoli with lashings of gravy....yyyuuuuummmmmmmmyy!
Not feeling as stressed today as we are on a weeks holiday just relaxing at home

sjr · 28/07/2003 15:35

Hello all! Am not sure of my due date as only had one light period since 1st born. I did a pregnancy test at around the time I thought next one was due which was negative ... since then no unprotected sex but then did my next one last week after no bleed since and feeling "wierd, I think I'm pregnant, I can't drink a whole glass of wine" type thing ... and lo and behold this one was positive. So just did a calculator thing on basis of that light (2 months ago) period (but to be honest date is not precise) and it came out as Feb 29th!!!! But could be anytime between Feb 20th and end of March really!! Will have to go to doctor's and get scan sorted out!

spikeycat · 28/07/2003 15:38

hello all, I see I have been missed I have been recovering from my food poisening and have also had sd's staying (they are still here, but my dp has taken them off for a few days in the tent leaving me and a grumpy teething little man here).
SJR, I have told my sister and my brother, and got congratulations from them but other than that I've not said anything, as I can not be arsed to listen to negativity on the subject. Took a while to get used to the idea and although the tiredness is crippling me at the mo we all know what you get at the end is worth it! And, they will get to grow up close as well, which will be nice (all that arguing and ganging up on mum that me and my brother did (18 months between us) comes to mind!)

Tillysmummy · 28/07/2003 16:56

Well what to eat? Now let's see, at moment white toast (normally wouldn't dream of touching it !!) and chocolate which of course means I have to buy dd chocolate too ! Cereal also good, fruit n fibre with lashings of ice cold milk.

spikeycat · 28/07/2003 17:25

what about a nice domino's pizza all to myself - yum yum!

sjr · 28/07/2003 17:46

hi spikeycat! The tiredness is crippling me too but, like you say, you just get on with it. Domino's pizza sounds good.

spikeycat · 28/07/2003 18:07

And mr. magoo has just gone to bed for the night, house to myself, a pizza, the only thing missing is a bottle of wine, and that will be missing for a few more months yet

Have you told your dp yet SJR?

sjr · 28/07/2003 18:21

yes have told dp and he is fine with it; he has 2 by previous partner, so it'll make it number 4 for him! and all under 5...

spikeycat · 28/07/2003 18:38

my dp has 2 by an ex wife tow, so it will no 4 for him too - uncanny eh!

sjr · 28/07/2003 18:59

Spikeycat - that's good to know Sometimes think it is such a tangled web ... not enough days in the week, "they are not my children" etc etc ... but VERY good to be aware we are not the only ones. Sometimes it is very hard especially at the moment with emotions and hormones going crackers.

chatee · 28/07/2003 19:53

well i've just had my tea-we had to go out as i was desperate for some chinese noodles!!must be mad we had to drive about 8 miles from our village to the nearest town (one way) but bless dh,
dd says she enjoyed eating her "Doodles"

TerriB · 28/07/2003 20:18

Hi everyone, well it's now 'official', with a hospital test proving positive!! I am due on March 12, and this will be number 3. Oh God, how will I cope?!

morocco · 28/07/2003 20:29

hello new arrivals!
I've had my scan!!! and all is OK - I have a bean with a little heart beating away at 146bpm. Such a fantastic moment as I'd been really nervous beforehand - did I really feel pregnant etc. EDD 3 March which is a little earlier than I thought but I'm crap at dates so there we go.

It's been a killer week. I've had flu (well OK a v bad cold but I felt as miserable as if it was flu) and had to pack and then travel to the UK for our summer hols with ds in tow. Luckily dh came along too for the bit to London but today the train journey was just me and ds who was playing up like mad. Now I'm knackered so thank god the grandparents are here to play the doting role. ds is having a whale of a time.

My breasts finally feel pregnant now I've stopped bf - all pert again too which is nice. I'm going to try contacting midwifves in the area tomorrow - apparently we ahve a brand spanking new maternity hospital in the area so that sounds great.

hope you're all well
