Hi everyone just wanted to let you know our son Kade was born on Friday 7lb 14, 5 hour labour in the Hospital birthing pool from first contraction

Full details here in case anyone has time to escape from their busy lives
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1370/580003

I hope you're all well. Sorry I've struggled to keep up with all your news. I'm hoping to catch up when feeding. Now I'm off to look up all my silly questions

Congratulations Cityangel!!! Sounds like a pretty exciting labour all told! Glat it all happened relatively smoothly.

Firsty - glad too that you had a good weekend with Ty - I wouldn't worry about the food you've given him - treats every so often should be encouraged - give them all sorts of tastes. In the long run, if you never let them have certain foods, they'll do anything to get hold of them when older. I used to binge on 6 bags of crisps at once when I went to uni as suddenly I was in charge of my own shopping!. My friend also told me that her DD shoplifted some sweets as she was so desperate for some!

DD wants me to play cooking with her, so I'd better go now - having a really low day - despite not working and being with my children, I still get Mondayitis and miss DH - is that sad?!

Take care all

Thanks Firsty! Could meet him, but always get the feeling that he'd rather not! You right though, I'm still adjusting to not going back to work - still dreaming about it every night! Sure i've made the right decision, but so wish my B*Tard boss hadn't been so rubbish!!!
And i'm missing adult company - 8 weeks summer holiday is a long time to entertain a restless 4 year old!!!!

Right - DD wants the 'puter better go now and Toby is about to shut the screen down! He's trying to type with me`!!131

Could be hormonal I suppose - not sure yet when PMT starts and finishes with the coil now I'm not really get periods anymore.

bye-bye!

Cityangel - big Congratulations on the birth of your son Kade. I hope you enjoy every minute of him. If you have more questions - ask away here, we will always try to help too. It is so exciting having a new baby.

Chooster · 05/08/2008 10:38

Hey city - have posted on your birth thread... That was definately a speedy first birth wasn't it . Sounds good though... and great that Kade is feeding well so early on as this can often cause a lot of early issues. I bet you must be thrilled he is here...

I reckon Monday-itis is common among SAHM's as well as working mums fettle as, the fun weekend time is over and now its back to the normal routines. You're obviously still getting used to things too... I think its lovely you miss your DH .

Great that you had a nice break with Ty Firsty, do you still have enough holiday to so that quite often? Theo has also had so many things at this age that Max hadn't, chicken nuggets, chips, chocolate, ice-cream, cake etc... .

babylove123 · 05/08/2008 11:49

Hey Everyone,

Well i have some news..............

It looks like i'm having a little girl!!!! There was 4 of us staring at the screen on Saturday and there was nothing to see - no bits on show! She had her legs wide open too (hope she learns to close them tight when shes a little older!!!) lol. We're so glad to finally know what she is! We went shopping and DP was in his element, of u filled baskets with stuff for her! It was so sweet to see!!! She has a new interest - we've gone off Abba (thank goodness!) It is now incy wincy spider! DP does it (actions and all) over my bump and she goes nuts! She loves it! Lol i think DP is getting fed up but he'll do anything for his daughter!

Fettle - You have tall babies too! DP makes a joke of me giving birth where he does these actions and says "we have a head, the shoulders are out, the body and the legs.....more legs......and more legs.....oh and some feet!" lol! Hehe at Totty, just think of it this way......if he turns into a handsome teenager then he'll be known as "top totty" anyway!

Honeyapple - hope you're having a nice week off!

Cityangel - CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Well done you!!!! So glad Kade arrived safely and you're both doing well! a 5 hour labour?! Send me some of you quick labour dust my way pl!!!!

Oh and just to mention.....Mondayitis is very normal for everyone, i get it every week. It sucks!

Ttyl

greedygreedyguzzler · 05/08/2008 12:49

well done again city! enjoy enjoy enjoy!

babylove - im so glad you finally know what you are having! seems so much more real once you know doesnt it? you can decide on names now too...........although i always found it harder to pick a name once i knew the sex for some reason!

fettle .....STOP dreaming about work!!!! START dreaming about sex!!! do you know whenever i have a rude dream about anyone else other than dh my concience kicks in and wont let me do anything..............how crap is that that i cant even sleep with anyone else in my dreams? i always get so far and then remember dh and decide its not worth risking my marriage.............and then i always wake up feeling frustrated! sorry, just had to share as i had one of these annoying dreams last night!!

talking of eating crap foods marcy got hold of a packet of prawn cocktail crisps yesterday and was happily munching her way through them until i noticed!!!

my big two are staying at my mums tonight and tomorrow and so its just me and marcy as dh is away. i have to say i am feeling a bit worried about how i am going to entertain her all day. i know i should look at it as quality time with her, but i think i will get really lonely without my 2 little mates to chatter to. anyway............guess we will go swimming.....she will like that......and then..........erm........

hows work going chooster? boys not missing you too much?

hope Tys birthday was fab firsty.....did he get some exciting presents? bet you can tbelieve hes one alreday hey?!! and it goes quicker and quicker from now on!!!.before you knwo it he will be at school!

how you doing mrs? tell us more about little xavier? you're not going to disappear again are you?

hey rainbowdays! how are you doing? you've not been around much recently either. hows little jak doing?

i LOVE the summer hols! have i said that already!!!?? they just dont seem long enough this year though. cant believe its a year ago i was moaning on about our extension not being finished and panicking that marcy was going to be born amongst lots of rubble. really doesnt seem like a year ago at all!

better go.........patients to prod!

Babylove - fantastic news on the girl!!! They are great - but then so are boys!!!

Thanks for the mondayitis support! Think it was hormonal my excessive mood as I've severe period pains today (TMI, I know!!!)

hopefully by the end of this week, work will be out of my mind - I have to go in to return my laptop and security card etc and my feedback form as to why I've left.......could be interesting reading that one!

But really felt that I'd made the right decision when I found out last night that a so-called friend from work has deleted me from her facebook friends! Made me realise that I wasn't really wanted back there anyway! Definitely rather be with my children who love me, although shopping for bargains, than the alternative!

So looking forward to our holiday - only 13 sleeps to go!!!

Chooster - Toby has had so much cr*p to eat already compared to DD at this stage, it is shocking!
Right need to go - he's just done another poo!! That's the 4th today - maybe I should stop feeding him.....!

Byeeeeee!!!!!

babylove123 · 06/08/2008 14:59

Hiya,

Greedy - We have got our name picked out but at the moment, we're not setting it in stone. Whilst people have already started calling her it, i worry that she'll be born and she wont look like one! lol. It does feel so much more real now we know what we're having. I know a lot of people are against the whole "no surprise" thing but it feels right for us to know. We're so glad we found out. Im loving shopping for her! Little dresses and my sis is buying her some really sweet tights with flowers and polka dots! She'll be a trendy baby i think ,lol How did the swimming go? Haha at your sex dreams......i dont seem to get them. I thought in your middle trimester you were sposed to get more horny (excuse the cheap word) but it doesnt seem to have that effect on me! DP is very upset because i've done the 180 the other way. I can manage kisses and cuddles but no more.........i get freaked out when she kicks me and thats it then!

Firststar - we're having fun with the names. We've agreed on the first name but the middle name is up for discussion. I want a double middle name but DP says it is cruel when she will have a double barreled surname too. I tried to explain to him that she'll never use her middle name anyway!

Fettle - Hehe i didnt mind what i was having but i spose a girl may be a little easier to start with! Sorry to hear of the period pains.......i still get them throughout my pregnancy - they really hurt too. Thought this was meant to be 1 of the perks of pregnancy?! Good luck with filling the form out. Just remember that it will go down on paper so be careful what you write.....it may come back to bite u in the ass at some point...... Oh and dont worry about your "friend" deleting you from facebook. People like that are all the same and arent worth worrying about - crossed a few of them in my time!

Right, best get back to work!

Chooster · 07/08/2008 13:24

So, come on babylove - spill the beans on the little ones name . I think it is fun when you find out which sex the baby is. It was nice knowing I was having my second boy . It sounds like your DP is going to be a lovely daddy...

Work is going fine thanks Greedy! Although am still not that busy really so its quite relaxing. I dont think the boys are really missing me as I've really only been doing 2 day weeks because of the amount of holiday I've got. I thought I'd take some now before things start getting busier... Having said that Theo still howls when either me or DH leave him at nursery , but I know he is fine once we've gone as I have a friend who drops her LO there too and she always says "Ooh, Theo looks so happy and settled there"... , not when I drop him off he doesn't!!! But I do think he's becoming a bit of a performer with the tears and turns them on quite well when it suits him . He's going to be trouble that one...

Hope you are not feeling too hormonal fettle! I think you will feel heaps better once you've dropped all that stuff off and will be really pleased that you're not having to work there again. Silly old facebook bint... You dont need friends like that.

Right, better go and do some more internet shopping. Phew... this work business is exhausting

The sun is shining! Granted, im sure it wont last long but yey! Apparently is is 88% humidity here............that explains my excessive sweating then! It says in my book on week 24 "you may sweat more due to increased blood flow" - YOU THINK?! I could fill a river! Sorry, i know im not painting a good pic of myself but im sure anyone else who was 6 months pregnant in summer understands where im coming from!

Chooster - lol at wanting to know the names. Im just a little scared incase someone i know is on here! You never know who these MN's are . Ok well i'll let the first name slip - Katelin. I'm keeping the rest as my disguise, lol. She officially is Katelin now - everyone who talks to the bump says hello Katelin! I think DP will be a great dad - im sure we'll have disagreements on things and i see him being a bit of a soft touch though - will need to kerb him on that one! Lol, sounds like little Theo is playing games with you......they learn young eh?! I was like that though with my parents when i was very young.....once they'd gone i was fine but the initial bit i'd sob my eyes out for. Dont worry, he'll grow out of it when he sees it isnt working. Oh, so its not just me who has been internet shopping?! Verdbaudet had a sale on and i found cotbed sheets (pack of 2) for £5! I stocked up and got 4 packs! I wont open them all, will keep some in the cupboard but she'll be in that bed till 4/5 yrs old!

Firststar - Thank you for your kind comment i hope we make good parents too, she certainly is going to be very loved! Wow, lucky you having no plans for the weekend, im starting to flag from not stopping......so much going on all the time!

Have great weekends everyone!

cityangel · 10/08/2008 05:47

Thanks for all your kind wishes Its been a rough ride so far
Tuesday he went all floppy & lethargic on us and we were admitted via A&E to hospital. After a battery of tests while I stayed on a campbed they decided it was dehydration from before my milk came in.
Now home the big issue is that he won't sleep in the crib only on us. I don't know if this is because he likes the warmth/ heartbeat?

He gets all worked up into mega cry mode if put down and seems to rely on sucking the boob for comfort. dh an I had mega row re: dummy option and it would be too early for one risking nipple confusion? Swaddling was helping as he puts his hands in his mouth and gets v over excited. I am getting 1-3 hours sleep a day Apart from that its all great

fettle · 10/08/2008 08:04

Oh City - you poor poor girl. At least you and he are home again now. Thank goodness they didn't make you stop breastfeeding because of it.

Don't worry about him wanting to sleep on you - he's just been inside you for 9 months - you're his comfort and he feels safe and warm there. Enjoy it, if you can - before too long he'll be too big and restless and won't sit still long enough for long cuddles! However, I also know how draining it is - how is he getting on with swaddling? I know Honey and Chooster loved their Amby nest thingys, maybe they might be an option?

Boob is a great comfort to him - there is a bit debate re dummies and nippes confusion, but if it gives you some rest and a break, it may be worth the risk? You need to keep resting to keep up your milk supply.

Personally, I would take my lead from him with regards to cuddling and feeding, but share as much as possible with DH so that you can get some rest - don't worry about arguing with DH - nearly all of us on here have had blazing rows with partners after birth - it's the sleep deprivation, hormones etc playing havoc with you both!

I promise it should get easier with each day. Remember we are here for you, but do you have anyone in RL who could come and cuddle him to let you get some rest too?

Hello everyone else - have to go - DD is getting restless and Toby hungry!!!!

xxx

Chooster · 10/08/2008 18:57

Great advise from fettle! sorry things are a bit tough city - but as fettle says it will and does get easier. The first few days can be really hard and it can feel like a struggle once the excitement dies down a bit and the lack of sleep hits. But as fettle says, take the lead from your LO and dont worry too much if he just wants to sleep being cuddled. He's still so young and its not uncommon for them to need that bit of re-assurance. Pretty soon you'll be able to ease him down gently and he'll sleep on his own for a while...

Fingers crossed things get better and rrest all you can .

iamamummy · 10/08/2008 19:43

hi girls!

city - sorry you are having it rough i remember the feelings oh so well! oscar was the same would not settle and would not sleep unless he was being cuddled and just as you describe used the nipple for comfort although would not feed from me(he was ib formula gave up trying to bf after sooo many attempts and expressing). anyway back to where i was going - i put oscar in our bed, he slept on the outside me in the middle and dp on the edge, having that constant contact with me made him sleep so much better and so did i, he switched from crying every 30mins to sleeping 10pm-3am feed then 3:30am-6:30am so that might be worth a try. after a couple of weeks of doing that and i felt a tonne better for having some sleep we moved him into his cot right beside our bed and i used to hold his hand whilst he sleep then again after a couple of weeks all contact whilst sleeping was dropped. he now sleeps soundly in his cot on his own 7-7 (probably jinxed myself now)!
it will get better though xxxx

greedygreedyguzzler · 11/08/2008 09:35

hi city. its not quite what you imagine to start with is it? they can be tricky little things babies cant they! everyone has given you good advice of course.........but you will be the one who knows best what to do (even if it doesnt feel like that!) so dont get too confused with loads of conflicting advice from friends, HV, midwife relatives etc............cos EVERYONE is bound to tell you something different................so just do what you feel is best cos you are his mummy and mummies know best (honest!)

had a dream last night that me and my sis both got pg....................what do you reckon?

fettle - how could anyone delete you? what a twat! (them, not you!) im too scared to join facebook by the way cos i think i could easily end up spending too much time on there.

bodders.......where are you? i need you to do my books for me................i hate doing my tax return!! some friends of ours have just had a stained glass window made for them and i thought of you when i saw it. actually i asked who had made it cos they had it done in cornwall (thats close to you isnt it?) and i thought it might have been you, but it wasnt!! felt a bit daft when they said "who do you know that does windows then? how do you know her?" i kind of avoided answering cos i always feel like a knob saying "oh, its just someone from mumsnet!"

so how are the older babies going with the walking? a little baby that we know is a month younger than marcy and walking around unaided already! puts my little dumpling to shame really!!!

think i might update some pics while i have time...............marcys asleep and ellis and kiki are playing dragons and castles!!! (she is going to be such a tom boy!)

Chooster · 11/08/2008 10:54

Ah, it would be great if you and your sis were pregnant together Greedy! I take it she's still trying every month?

My little walker is getting on well and is more steady every day . Its lovely to see him tootling along - we're off to centreparcs again in September so I'm hoping he'll be even better then and he can enjoy things a bit more. Poor little guy is sleeping off his HIB booster than he had this morning tho . I always hate taking them for these injections. Max's pre-school one next - not sure if its worse when they dont know whats coming or they do .

Presume Honey is moving at the moment - she's been fairly quiet lately.

So you think she'll be a Katelin babylove! I like the name .

Right better go and do something constructive with my time as Theo is sleeping and Max playing at his Grans and I've got day off work

Hey Everyone,

How was your weekends? Mine was a bit crap, had a seriously hormonal day yesterday and refused to speak to DP. I also shut myself in the bedroom for 10 hours solid and just laid there in a daze......i couldnt be assed to do anything. I had so much to do but just couldnt motivate myself to do anything bar lay there and get up for the odd wee. Tried to bond with the baby but got fed up waiting for her to kick too.....i was miserable. Come the evening i was a lot better, got myself up and made myself some cheese on toast! I chilled out then, v strange. Hormones are strange things!!!!!

City - sorry to hear things havent been easy, im sure you're doing really well as a mum and your instincts are kicking in well. Theres nothing i can add to what everyone has said but just remember that you're a great mum and you know what is best for your baby Hope things get a little easier for you over the coming weeks.

Greedy - Ooooh at the pregnancy dream! I am a great believer in dreams coming true so you never know! Oh and the facebook thing - yeh dont get addicted. I did initially when i signed off, i was off left right and centre trying to find people but then i couldnt be assed. If its anything like me, these ppl who you ask to be friends ignore you anyway! Some ppl crawl out of the woodwork too!

Chooster - Awww poor Theo, hope hes doing ok after his booster. I am worried about takin my baby for her jabs, its nec but not a nice thing to put them through. Hope you enjoy Centerparcs - someone i know just came back from one and loved it! Thanks, we like Katelin too! We love the name "kate" so it'll get shortened when shes a little older. As for the "lin" bit, DP and i are still arguing over that one! I like "lin", he likes "lyn"......we'll see who wins!

Best do some work!

hello

got back from cornwall late saturday night- had a great week away (a bit rainy ) but lots of fun. Even swam (briefly) in the sea- well I had to get some use out of my new bikini!

Dp surprised me the friday before we went with driving up in a lovely new car for me ... fab 7 seater version of my old picasso- he's not such a bad chap really .

As for moving- well we have exchanged and have a date set for the 22nd- me and the kids are going camping before then though- so looks like DP will be doing a lot of the packing on his own- shame...

City- CONGRATULATIONS! Well done you . Fettle is a wise lady- lots of good advice from her- as is Greedy- you DO know best- honest! If Kade still seems unsettled you could try a cranial osteopath- I know it helps for many newborns.

Babylove- a girl! Lovely . I think I like the Irish spelling best - Caitlin. You should have kept the name a secret!!! BTW whenever my DD is playing pretend games she calls herself Caitlin (or Megan or Maddie )

hello to everyone else- sorry for not catching up better, lots of love xx
