ButterflyMcQueen · 17/07/2008 12:19

hello ladies

so sorry you are all still here - wish i could say enjoy the lll but i know its not like that

franny wow what an impressive bump!

hatrick - hope sweep works this time!!!

Much love to all x

springerspaniel · 17/07/2008 12:20

F&Z - now that head is engaged, it might be a good time to try sex again.

When DH and I did the deed the other day, we agreed that it definitely didn't feel like it did with DS when labour started a few hours later. Cervix must have been much lower due to head being down.

FabioUnblogged · 17/07/2008 12:24

I think it's a boy.

You'll appreciate the sentiment, but this is quite terrifying

How the heck did she get up there?

Oh dear God who would eat this???? (Click 'see full size image' if you dare)

That last cake is

Poledra · 17/07/2008 12:36

Last cake is 'orrible - I don't think even desperate pg ladies would eat that (at least this one wouldn't)

Going in at 2.30, and they want to try and break my waters then. Shitting self now.

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/07/2008 12:37

Blimey ladies, can't believe you're all still waiting! Just popping in to offer sympathy and to marvel at Franny's perfectly round bump. Can I predict that you're going to give birth to a beach ball?

FrannyandZooey · 17/07/2008 12:41

Hatrick I know you may have various reasons for induction / not induction
I have been reading about overdue babies a lot and the risk of stillbirth (sorry to be so bald but that is what we are worried about, yes?) goes up by less than 1% after 42 weeks
they can monitor: baby's heartbeat
amount of amniotic fluid
rate of blood flowing through cord from placenta

the placenta does not give out all of a sudden
with daily monitoring it should be noticed that cord blood rate is decreasing and then you could take action
you can also measure kick rate as a fairly good indicator that all is well - if the baby kicks less than usual this could be a sign oxygen via placenta is decreasing

you probably know all this as is your 4th
just wanted to give you an alternative to being induced straight away if you didn't want to be

hatrick I also asked about homebirth after 42 weeks
she said no not really
I said what if I had been monitored that morning, for instance, and all was well? would I still be considered high risk?
she didn't exactly say yes
but I think it might be a possibility

Hello, am back

Franny, your bump is like mine - ie you + comical add-on (although yours is probably a little bigger. and poss a little more comical. espesh in the painted ones!) and I am having a boy...

Hospital AMAZING as usual. Lovely, lovely, lovely midwives. Referred to dr cos of hideous back pain (I cannot actually walk properly now) and they have diagnosed urine infection.Have antibiotics and codrymol (codein/paracetmaol - hope it works). Makes sense to me, that the infection would trigger BH and that they would then be painful... So was thinking I would take me antibiotics and then become just overdue again ready for curry bla bla bla (but thankfully overdue-and-not-in-pain) BUT the mw has examined and said I have dilated a little bit more (now all of 3cm !!) and that she felt the waters bulging and she said it could be today.

So fingers crossed, I won't be in so much pain soon and I can get on with moaning about being overdue, OR I will be actually having proper contractions

FrannyandZooey · 17/07/2008 12:56

yup full moon about 7 or 8 am tomorrow I think
go for it hatrick

we tweaked a bit last night
everything ceased completely

I reckon my best bet is to install a cork some barbed wire, and a sign saying "no babies allowed" - then it will probably shoot out within the hour
