that was an early sweep wasn't it b+s? was there any reason they are keen to get things going so quickly?

I have SPD and really want to get things moving as I'm fine once I've had the baby. But I don't want induction as it hurt like hell last time (dd was induse due to IUGR at 39 weeks)

I'm getting almost no sleep as everytime I move I'm in pain Running (cue me hobbling comically around shouting "drop that" take it out of your mouth" etc) after a 2 and a 1 year old doesn't help matters either.

FrannyandZooey · 07/07/2008 21:14

oh b+s
how miserable
sending you big opening like a beautiful flower type thoughts (apparently this is what we have to imagine our cervixes doing )

lol maybe that where i'm going wrong! I keep imagining my pelvic bone being held together.

do you know what your having? or are you having a surprise when it does finally pop out.

ButterflyMcQueen · 07/07/2008 21:31

[stern] wonky
don't tease the afflicted

Cali I wish people would stop ringing me actually, which is really ungrateful of me as I know they are just being nice. The only phone call I want atm though is someone saying "can I look after ds for you at the time of your choice this week"

Butterfly much good it does me [grump]

b+s no a surprise what about you?

Damn. Due date today. No baby.

Oh god, had sex last pregnancy when I was late and it did the trick. Immediate feeling of watermelon between legs afterwards, which lasted for about 3 hours when waters broke. Baby born a few hours later. (Apologies if TMI)

Reeeeeeeeeeeeeally can't be bothered to have sex. Is like trying to manoeuvre one of those really big camper vans into a petrol station. Most undignified.

Ho hum. ER at 10am on Channel 4 - the excitement might get the baby out.

Next person who rings to see if baby has arrived will, no doubt, be MIL - am going to tell her that we had the baby a few days ago but didn't want to tell anyone. Ha - maybe I'll tell her that I only told my mum so she could look after DS1.

Need to give birth. Am even more evil than usual.

Mummywannabe · 08/07/2008 08:44

Hi. Due today so not overdue as such but so fed up (can i join?? ). Had contractions all last night for about 7 hours, 8-10mins apart, very painful blah blah, then nothing. grrr little bugger is just teasing me i think!

springerspaniel · 08/07/2008 08:59

Oh god. So many people keep saying that they are having painful contractions and then nothing. My mum is 2 hours away and will have to take a day off work. Am worried about getting her for a false alarm. On the other hand, DS1 was super quick. Eek. Should have gone for home birth!

FrannyandZooey · 08/07/2008 10:29

springer I have had plenty of sex and it is doing NOTHING
so take it from me and don't bother
I have not even had one contraction or in fact anything

my mum rang and left a message saying "haha I bet you are getting fed up of people leaving messages saying 'any news'? so I won't say 'any news?'. I will just say, er, ring me if you have anything to tell me...."

AAAAAARGH

Hello can I join also please? I am 6 days overdue with DC2.

ROFL at Springer - I can picture the camper van/petrol station analogy!

I was 14 days over with DD1 - have a sweep tomorrow but don't hold out much hope as had 2 attempted sweeps with DD1 and the midwife couldn't even reach my cervix... I also firmly believe I am owed an on-time baby after last time!

How do people forget what it's like to be overdue? I have several friends all of whom went overdue themselves and yet are texting me every day with "any news?". I have stopped replying rather than give a ratty answer but that just makes them think I am in labour!

Does anyone know if Braxton Hicks contractions do anything other than make you a mite uncomfortable? Are they preparing the way or anything? Have been having them for weeks.

FrannyandZooey · 08/07/2008 13:26

god I am so PISSED OFF
I am just tired and everything is a struggle and dp is helping me as much as he can and it just isn't enough
I need someone to look after ds so I can REST this is a crap state of affairs to have one woman one house and just carry on doing your stuff until you fall over

OP posts:
ButterflyMcQueen · 08/07/2008 13:48

too tired to function

FrannyandZooey · 08/07/2008 14:00

OP posts:
ButterflyMcQueen · 08/07/2008 14:07

i am in bed..
eyes stinging after the most restless night on record
dp moaning ' it would be a better nights sleep with a newborn'
me ratty
ds cabin fever
ds wooden toys all over wooden bedroom floor

this experience.....torture

any sign of hatrick?

FrannyandZooey · 09/07/2008 21:10

how is everyone doing?

I had a sleep today but still felt awfully grumpy

it never ends does it
I have been pg for about a decade I think

OP posts:
ButterflyMcQueen · 09/07/2008 21:21

lol Franny and yes it does end..... has no one warned you!!!

My friend who also has five children was at a lunch i was at on monday. she said to me ' Why dont you have murderers eyes?' as allegedly at this stage in her pg's she does!!

Any news from hatrick?

Franny were you overdue last time?

I am now looking forward to friday - well i use the term lightly ! I will have my sweep which if it goes like my previous ones is a relatively painless and relatively natural way of getting things started. someone described it as tickling the cervix!

FrannyandZooey · 09/07/2008 21:24

yes I was 10 days over with ds
however I did not have spd or another child at the time - I was having a lovely time really, going for long walks, watching bargain hunt on tv, etc

I'll have a sweep on Monday when I'll be 10 days

OP posts:
ButterflyMcQueen · 09/07/2008 21:36

you wont get that far!
i feel fine actually - a bit too well?

brightandshiny · 09/07/2008 21:41

Still here too.

I'm trying cumin tea now, see if that gets anything going.

If one more person says to me "still here then?" I'll strangle them.

Does anyone know if another sweep would be effective even if I have already lost the plug? I'm off to the physio in the morning for some crutches and if it would work might pop in the maternity and ask for another one.

FrannyandZooey · 09/07/2008 21:44

I would think so, b+s
it's the membranes they are after now, isn't it?
cumin sounds REPULSIVE btw

Butterfly wanna bet?

I keep having kind of 'feelings' in the evening but I am buggered if I know if they mean anything
I wasn't getting them last month though so shall i presume they are something New and Meaningful?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 09/07/2008 21:45

oh and the latest one people say to me is "oh NO you are still HERE!"
which really really really helps, a lot

OP posts:
brightandshiny · 09/07/2008 21:58

Thanks F+Z.
BTW Cumin + sugar not that bad! smells bad but hold your nose and its fine.
I'm at the point of trying anything (within reason, don't wanna be harming bump) I'll let you know if it worked! pah![doubtface]

Just hope I'm not up with braxton hicks for hours on end... again.

People can be so tactless. I'm sure all they're all just desperate to coo over the newborn.
