Hey, anyone else due July 2026? I got my first faint positive at 10dpo on Thursday 23rd October, I’m now 14dpo/4 weeks pregnant. Feeling nervous as still very early my period was due tomorrow. I’ve booked an early scan for in a few weeks so hopefully everything is all good, now just an anxious wait

I'm miffed today - when my GP gave me the referral for my nuchal translucency scan she told me that the imaging place would give me the referral for bloods and let me know where to go for them. I called the imaging place this morning to check in as my scan is in 2 days and no one had contacted me, to be told that they don't organise bloods, that's the GPs job, and that you need the blood done between 10-12 weeks. Now I've missed out on getting the PAPP-A and HCG parts of the nuchal (but if course I still have to pay full price for the rest of the scan, if I still want it).

Hi everyone. Today is my 12 week scan and I’m not going to lie, I’m very anxious. I’ve previously heard sorry there is no heartbeat twice in the past and I’m so anxious. Scans at 1pm.

SummerSolstice25 · 05/01/2026 09:56

Has anyone had an influx of new symptoms from 14 weeks? I had it pretty easy for the first 13 weeks but since 14 weeks I had a day where I vomited, then I’ve had nausea on and off. My energy seems better but I’m getting headaches now also that I didn’t have before. First pregnancy so I have nothing to compare it to.

Sending a handhold - I’ve been there too and I feel you with the anxiety. Have you had any other scans so far? Sending you all the luck in the world!

I was due to have my 12w scan today but it was cancelled by the sonographer due to the absolutely mental snow we are having in North East Scotland at the moment. I can't get out of my street so I was going to cancel anyway so was glad that they did it for me! Gutted to not have the scan today as id of liked the reassurance, last scan was private at 9 weeks. However its rearranged to next Monday so surely to goodness this freak weather will be a distant memory by then! We've had it since NYE!

I am 14 weeks tomorrow and nausea is much improved but still need to eat breakfast quite soon after waking to avoid gross dry retching. I will sometimes just be walking around and this disgusting croak/groan will come from my throat out of nowhere as I wretch - wtaf. I go back to work on Tuesday and if that happens I will struggle to keep my pregnancy quiet!

I’m also finding it more and more difficult to brush my teeth - twice in the last week despite seeking to be gentle and leaning my head down has resulted in immediate and spontaneous vomit! Same with trying to take any tablets - I have had to take any with a flavoured drink or in food as with water again led to immediate projectile. I’m never good with tablets but this was ridiculous. I’m going to need to cancel my next dentist appt as no way will my poor dentist remain safe!

I’d say I vomit now more randomly from sudden feelings of nausea / a hypersensitive gag reflex than I did when my nausea was constant and debilitating for the entire day - it’s bizarre (but still much better than the nausea).

I'm the same with teeth brushing its horrible! I have also found fruit juice makes me spew which Im so sad about as I love my glass of orange or apple juice in the morning šŸ˜‚šŸ™ˆ

Curiousrobin · 05/01/2026 20:11

Same here with difficulty brushing teeth! I found my gag reflex more sensitive in my son's pregnancy but this is a whole other level - I have thrown up 4 times whilst brushing my teeth! And taking my Pregnacare multivitamins is difficult too. I don't usually have any trouble swallowing big tablets but this baby has me in trouble! 😁

Thank you. I had a 9 week scan and all went well. My 12 week scan went well yesterday and I’m due 18th July :)

How soon do you guys think I will be able to get my dating scan booked in? I’m 11 weeks now and haven’t had my booking appt yet (it’s tomorrow) dating scan has obviously not been booked yet and I’ll be 12 weeks next week. Is it more likely that I’ll be waiting until around 14 weeks for it or can they get you in quite soon?

Hard to answer as will be so dependant on where you live and how busy it is! However when I didn't even realise I was pregnant till gone 12 weeks I was seen within days.

Thank you! I’m thinking it probably is busy if they couldn’t book my first appt until 11 weeks and I registered with them at 4 weeks exactly! Hopefully they can get me in sooner rather than later

Allsigns · 06/01/2026 11:14

Oh wow, I just looked up NIPT tests...holy smokes that's an investment!! Have seen so many people mention having one, are they mostly privately done or NHS referral? Did you have your dating scan first and have higher probabilities of issues, or did you just do one?

Also getting so confused by conflicting advice already. Doctor has put me on a higher dose of folic acid due to my weight, then midwife told me 'oh we don't do that anymore, just the basic dose for everyone'....so do I follow GP or midwife?! GP told me to take it for longer than 12 weeks, midwife disagreed. Wish there was just one message coming out of the NHS!

Still feeling massively dizzy pretty much 24/7 and tired a lot, but sickness has abated thank goodness. Just the occasional strong smell causing me to retch now which is a huge improvement.

Good luck to everyone having scans soon!

Curiousrobin · 06/01/2026 11:56

@Allsigns I've been given conflicting advice re: extra folic acid too! Mine is for GD in previous pregnancy. Was put on it by EPU when I went in for an early scan (due to previous losses). They said to get more from doc when I run out. I asked my doc for more and they told me i don't need anymore since I'm over 12 weeks now. Then why did EPU tell me to get more🫤 to make it worse it's impossible to speak to anyone about it. My local midwifery team don't respond to my voicemails! I have many questions I need answering, like the results from my booking appointment bloods (which was in early December!). I know the NHS is struggling - it definitely shows! I don't think my GTT has been booked either so I need to chase that as I think they've forgotten. Not like it's important or anything🤨

Edited

I just bought mine myself rather than getting it on prescription - in case that's helpful! https://e-surgery.com/product/folic-acid/

The lack of being able to speak to someone is really jarring me also. This isn't my first pregnancy but the difference between the one 5 years ago and now is stark. Everything is on an app now (not helpful when scrolling on my phone makes me want to vomit) including the tours of the local birthing suites and everything! No red folder with my notes to be able to reference, all on an app. Can also message the midwives through the app, apparently. Feels very impersonal. But I guess they're doing what they can with the resources available.

@Allsigns thanks!
Yes, I do find it a different to when I was pregnant 4-5 years ago too! I feel so much more in the dark now.

Limmers14 · 07/01/2026 19:31

Just checking in, we had our scan today and baby is looking good. Measuring 2 days ahead and is soooo active. I also had my bloods done for the NIPT and they said if there are any concerns, they’ll call within 72 hours. Overall, a really positive experience!

I feel so incredibly nauseous still though. How’s everyone else feeling?

MaybePossiblyMaybe · 07/01/2026 20:26

I had my scan too! Without the bloods having been done already they can't do a proper screening test, but the sonographer said that all the soft markers like nasal bones are there. I'm measuring one day ahead as well.

blossomhoney2 · 08/01/2026 07:11

I’m glad scans etc are going well for everyone. I also had a scan this week - baby moving loads.. I feel like we will have another very energetic little boy on our hands.

I am 14 weeks today and I’m still nauseous. I spent all afternoon in bed yesterday after vomiting up my lunch and feeling horrendous. I’m really over these pregnancy symptoms now. Last pregnancy I definitely didn’t feel sick this far along. Where is my second semester glow?! 😩
thinking about telling work in the next 2 weeks as my belly is quite bloated and I feel like it’s obvious. Anyone else told work yet?

MaybePossiblyMaybe · 08/01/2026 07:40

I was going to try and hold off until after my 20 week scan, that's what I did with my first... But I'm showing already this time and I'm not sure whether I can hide it for another 7 weeks šŸ˜…

Phoenix321 · 08/01/2026 08:39

Hi all hope everyone is well. I'm 13 and a bit weeks today, had my 12 week scan last risk and bloods came back as low risk for genetic conditions. However, since the day before yesterday I have been losing a little bit of brown old loss on wiping each time I go to the toilet. Had a reassurance scan day before yesterday and all fine but still panicking. Midwife said to go to A&E if start heavily bleeding or acute pain. I don't have any pain other than the discomfort that I've been having for weeks around my lower back and feeling like my tummy is stretching. Triage don't see people until 14 weeks so I'm thinking if I'm still with the same symptoms I'll go to triage next week. Just really hope everything is ok (makes me realise how much I want little bean), especially as family including my dc now know and are excited.

Same as you! Measuring 2 days ahead so now placed at 15 weeks. Equally energetic baby doing handstands and stretching - very cute. Given this is the earliest I could have screening due to being out of the country and quadruple not being able to screen for two out of three conditions I opted for self-funded/private NIPT which luckily they were able to do the blood test for straight away. Will be great to find out results in the next week hopefully.

Limmers14 · 08/01/2026 16:00

@blossomhoney2 i told work when I was 6 weeks as we’ve had loads of redundancies and if my name was on a list somewhere, I wanted them to think it was too risky to have me on it! Obviously you can still be made redundant when pregnant but the positives of telling them out weighed any negatives for me.

Anyone already counting down to mat leave starting? Hoping to take June as holiday and start mat leave 1st July.

Definitely counting down. Although I am going to try leave it as late as possible to due date to go off. Reason being work will know the possibility of an early birth and typically will start handovers earlier than eg if someone was going on extended unpaid leave with a fixed date (eg sabbatical), leaving most people’s last few weeks / month at work being fairly relaxed! I’m keen to save my hols to help me go back to work on a phased basis - 3 days then 4 days etc

Allsigns · 08/01/2026 20:26

Scan today, they moved me forward 16 days! Was a much more developed bub in there than I was anticipating. Still in the July club though. Was so lovely to see it wriggling around. Made it all very real.

Told work a few weeks ago as I've been really struggling with screens making me feel sick and wanted them to understand why my working hours suddenly changed. WFH having some benefits that I'm not having to hide a bump.

Hadn't thought about when to start mat leave at all, think I'm agreed on as late as possible. DH and I are hoping to take shared parental leave, so keen not to take anything before the birth if I can help it so can maximise the time before we need childcare.
