Hello!

I'm 44 and have just found out I'm 4 weeks pregnant.

It's all a bit meh at the moment as I've been here before, multiple losses and all over 40. I'm putting it down to the quality of my old lady eggs!

Anyway, I'm back on that rollercoaster. I clearly love the stress of it all!

If anyone else is on the same rollercoaster or even in the same theme park, pop in and say hi ☺️

Well when I mean a portion I mean about 4 bites lol. I have scar tissues and adhesions from surgery. Plus costocondritis which causes inflammation of the rib cartilage which is super painful!!

That sounds tough - I hope it eases for you. 4 bites is still pretty good going! I'm opting for toast, living large, and all that 😁

Tbh ive only ended up on a drip twice so I'm doing well!! Baby is kicking away furiously. I'm trying not to be sick waiting for the kids to finish club! Can't stand toast normally but I been having marmite and lots of salted butter 😁. Getting my C-section date soon so planning on fitting it in around school holidays! Chaos 🙃

MrsH26 · 12/02/2025 18:48

I have my viability scan tomorrow after just seeing the gestational sac and yolk sac 2wks ago.
I’m petrified all won’t be well 😢

Oh my love, it's such a scary and anxious time, isn't it? The counting down is beyond stressful.

How are you feeling in yourself?

I'm hoping you get a positive outcome tomorrow, sending you all the positivity in the world ✨️❤️

Ha! Love that you're fitting baby arriving around school holidays! Genius! What's your due date?

The toast didn't work for me tonight, but I made a very basic roast, quite the accomplishment considering I can't face food smells!

Thank you so much!

We had a small bleed just after 4wks, HCG was normal. Gestational sac and yolk sac at 5+4 was in the right place and the right size. And my gynae team were reassured.
Booked us back in for 2wks to check growth and heartbeat. I know it’s all normal so far, But the narrative on being a little older is so negative isn’t it? It’s so hard to see past it!

Afternoon my fellow lovely people. How are we all getting on?

Time seems to be dragging a little!

What's for dinner tonight? I'm in a food rut, albeit nausea induced 😁

Just plain rice for dinner for me. Extra queasy tonight as I had a long drive in traffic to the hospital for a pointless 10 minute consultant appointment that could of been done over the phone. The next appointment in a few weeks is more exciting because it will be my 20 week scan (although I already know from the NIPT that we're having a girl).

Aah, huge congratulations to you! That's wonderful news 💗😊

Plain rice sounds about right. May I ask the NIPT, how did that go? Did you get it at your 12-week scan, or was it after?

@MrsH26 hand hold, as I've been there myself it's so awful the waiting. Be kind to yourself. I have a long history of misscarriges so I know the pain and fear. There are some really supportive threads.

SnakebitesandSambucas · 12/02/2025 20:27

@Amuseaboosh no planning here haha. Just shocked the pregnancy has gone this far!

SnakebitesandSambucas · 12/02/2025 20:29

@EveningReflection lucky my hospital is not too far away by bus. But I feel like I'm in every other week!

I completely agree regarding the older narrative. I understand there is science to support this, but it doesn't mean that it is the absolute outcome if you're pregnant at an older age. Yes, there are risks, but there are all sorts of day to day risks as soon as you wake up in the morning, such is life!

I tend to think I'm 44 and pregnant, not 84. It helps a little 🤣

The fear is real, and the collateral is so very high. But you must try to focus on the fact that right now, in this moment, you are pregnant. That's it. You can't control what was and you can't control what will be. You're doing your best, and whatever the outcome, you will continue to do and be your best. I know it's really hard, but sometimes we just have to trick our minds a little ✨️❤️

I know that feeling. I'm only 8 weeks, and in shock, I imagine that will remain for some time.

But you're both doing brilliantly. You really are. I hope your pregnancy continues this way, sans nausea, of course! ❤️

@Amuseaboosh thank you for your kind words! You’re very right, I know you still produce HCG with a mmc, but I’m still very symptomatic, had no bleeding for well over 3wks, no pain, the reassuring signs are there!
Just need to trust the process, which I do every day every day for other people in my line of work!

We did a private one at 13 weeks, using a local private midwife. I don't think you get the sex determination element of it if you're offered one on the NHS. It went well, 1 in 100k got everything. With my last daughter it was all 1 in a million, but apparently 100k is the smallest chance they show now. The NHS combined test was 1 in 440 for Tr21. Not a high chance, but I wanted to do one because we did one with my last pregnancy and I'm nearly 5 years older now.

SnakebitesandSambucas · 13/02/2025 09:15

@MrsH26 trust the process! Ha it's still ingrained in my head long after my formal training. I think misscarriges and also pregnancy can plant that doubt over our bodies.

MrsH26 · 13/02/2025 10:46

Scan was good!
Measuring almost to dates, heartbeat all good. Thank goodness

Oh what good news, I do so love hearing positive scan stories- gives me some hope.

I'm almost 7 weeks, so a bit behind most of you but still with almost no symptoms which is making me nervous. Constant googling seems to indicate that this is normal, but a bit of morning queasiness would feel very reassuring at this point. I'm sure I'll regret saying that once it kicks in. Hope everyone else is doing well.

SnakebitesandSambucas · 13/02/2025 11:58

@MrsH26 so pleased was thinking about you this morning!

SnakebitesandSambucas · 13/02/2025 12:00

@Fletchasketch I know it's hard but try stay off Google. It won't make any difference either way. The book pregnancy after loss is very good and helpful

You're right, of course though I don't think it will stop me. Thank you for the reccommendation, much appreciated.

Is anyone NOT having a private NIPT and waiting for NT and bloods at dating scan?
