Hello!

I'm 44 and have just found out I'm 4 weeks pregnant.

It's all a bit meh at the moment as I've been here before, multiple losses and all over 40. I'm putting it down to the quality of my old lady eggs!

Anyway, I'm back on that rollercoaster. I clearly love the stress of it all!

If anyone else is on the same rollercoaster or even in the same theme park, pop in and say hi ☺️

@Amuseaboosh hi! It's nice to find someone of a similar age 😂

I'm feeling ok thanks, just getting symptoms in waves if that makes sense? Nausea, exhaustion and a bit of a light headed, dizzy feeling sometimes. How about you?

I'm only 4+3 but we found out super early as I have short cycles so also ovulate early.

Hey,

Didn't want to read and run...

I just turned 44 and I found out I am pregnant on new years eve. I've also been feeling pretty "meh" to be honest I am all over the place. How are you doing? X

Amuseaboosh · 03/02/2025 19:21

@VV1280, huge congratulations to you! Welcome 😊 how are you feeling now? The 'meh' feeling for me has subsided and is currently replaced by the feeling of non-stop nausea! 🤣

@Lemonbell, thank you for the advice regarding the midwife line, I didn't even know that was an option! How are you getting on? 🤗

@Jellybean123456, has the nausea subsided a little? It can be all-encompassing 😬 you have my sympathy 🤗

@Snakebitesandsambuca, have you found anything that helps with the nausea? I hope so. If not, onwards and upwards! 😁

@simplehuman, welcome. How are you getting on with your bloods? I hope all is well ❤️

@MrsH26, so glad the scan showed everything in the right place. I hope you're ticking along nicely 🤗

@EveningReflection, thank you for the sparkling water tip, I'll try that ❤️

We had a scan at our hospital today, GAU.

My husband is the polar opposite, manifesting his reality, thinking positively, and so on. I'm more of a realist, so I fully went in today and prepared for the worst.

I had an entire plan for when they told me the pregnancy has failed and an idea of how I'll distract myself and move ahead. I even had a referral to get sterilised ready because I won't be doing this again, no matter the outcome.

I couldn't see the screen when I was being scanned, but my husband could, so I just kept staring at his face - he gave nothing away!

We saw a strong heartbeat, exact dates as they should be, I'm 7 weeks tomorrow and, still as sick as a dog! 😊❤️

How many people, if at all have others told? 🤔

@Amuseaboosh
only our best friends know at the mo and I had to tell my boss due to where I work.
i’m struggling at the moment with all the negativity surrounding pregnancy over 40 and risks etc and I’m really struggling to see everything will be ok.

my symptoms settled down and they’re intermittent now, which I know is normal, but I was focussing on those as a reassuring feature.

the next scan seems so far away without really knowing what’s going on!

SnakebitesandSambucas · 03/02/2025 22:14

Hi tbh I take onxvea. But it takes the edge off. But I got HG so pretty extreme. Only been on a drip twice 🤞🏻. Just stayed very still. It's crap but worth it. So glad its all going well

Scarftown · 04/02/2025 09:20

We had an early scan and all ok at the moment. I'm still anxious because of age and previous loss but I have my booking appt with MW on Thursday so will speak to her about then. We haven't told anyone yet. I'm kinda in a little bubble and I don't want to tell anyone but I feel bad that I haven't as in previous pregnancies I have told family by this point

Glad to hear your scan went well. I know what you mean. I had a MMC back in August and we hadn't told anyone, and it felt so sad to be just telling them about the miscarriage. I've decided I'm going to tell a close friend tomorrow and then my parents when we see them in a couple of weeks when I'll be almost 8 weeks, all being well. Due to holidays and partner being away, the first opportunity for a scan is at 9.5 weeks which does make me a bit nervous, but I suppose at least it should be conclusive.

Hey, I'm having bad nausea in the morning. My head is in a bit of a state to be honest. I'm not sure I can continue with the pregnancy. My mental health is really bad right now. I haven't even booked in for a scan yet because I am.too scared. I've had no bleeding, etc, and I think I am.around 10 weeks now. Not dealing well with this situation and not actually sure what to do. I am In turmoil 😔 how are you doing? X please be kind because I am just being honest about how messed up I am feeling. I don't have any support and I feeling the pressure. X

Congratulations @Amuseaboosh glad to hear all is good!

I had bloods on Friday and some yes.
Symptoms completely gone
So I think it's not good news. But we can hope. Scan next week at 7 weeks

I was in your shoes 4 years ago. Naturally conceived at 44 after many failed IVF cycles. I'm the lucky mum to a gorgeous daughter now! Wishing you all the very best.

I know how you feel. I am a bit of a mess too and I have kinda been in denial. I have got my first appt with a midwife tomorrow and I am taking it from there I'm also 10 weeks.

what's worrying you? We are here to listen.

SnakebitesandSambucas · 05/02/2025 12:21

Tbh I am still in denial until the baby is here. That crippling anxiety is normal if it's been a traumatic journey. Can you talk to your midwife?

Scarftown · 06/02/2025 10:34

Just had my booking appointment and confirmation I'm high risk. Has everybody already started on the Aspirin and whatever else I have been advised?

SnakebitesandSambucas · 06/02/2025 11:16

Why did they say you are high risk? I am because of pre existing conditions etc. But it's controlled by meds and check ups.

Literally just because of my age. Last year when 39 and pregnant I was low risk. I did have a loss at 22 weeks but apparently that doesn't affect my risk. Just being a few months older lol

Fletchasketch · 06/02/2025 14:39

Have just had my booking in apt and 12 week scan dates through, so starting to feel a bit more real now. Not sure what to expect from the booking in apt especially, do they just talk you through what to expect, diet etc? Also, my partner will be away but would assume most people go alone to the midwife apt.

Scarftown · 06/02/2025 17:58

mine took about an hour. It was a lot of questions about my previous pregnancies. Family history both mine and the dads side, bloods, urine, height weight etc. a bit about keeping healthy. Eating well. My partner was in the house as mine happened at home but she didn't ask him anything and there was a few questions about domestic abuse.

Afternoon my fellow lovely people. How are we all getting on?

Time seems to be dragging a little!

What's for dinner tonight? I'm in a food rut, albeit nausea induced 😁

I'm going to try moussaka and garlic mushrooms. Depends I've been non stop puking though. My shoulder pain is getting worse as well. Craving carbs and stodge! Ha ha

I'm so sorry, normally moussaka and garlic mushrooms would be divine, but right now, I cannot even fathom the idea 🤣

Chlozine is not helping, so I may go back to the GP for something different.

What's causing then shoulder pain? How far along as you now?
