Hello!

I'm 44 and have just found out I'm 4 weeks pregnant.

It's all a bit meh at the moment as I've been here before, multiple losses and all over 40. I'm putting it down to the quality of my old lady eggs!

Anyway, I'm back on that rollercoaster. I clearly love the stress of it all!

If anyone else is on the same rollercoaster or even in the same theme park, pop in and say hi ☺️

@Amuseaboosh
the little lady is an absolute warrior! 💗

she came off the ventilator, which she didn’t like very much. And this morning she came off oxygen and she’s started gaining weight.

It’s a hell of a rollercoaster some days, but we’ve had some good days the last few x

I'm so incredibly pleased to hear that she's making progress.

Amuseaboosh · 15/08/2025 04:56

Morning all, how's everyone getting on? 🙂

I'm 35 weeks today, can't quite believe it.

Oh wow, you're nearly there! How are you feeling?

We're doing OK. Little one is 5 weeks now. I was readmitted to hospital after a week with an infection/temperature that they never managed to get to the bottom of. I think being so tired and run down didn't help.

The last few weeks I've been sick with a bug my older daughter caught at nursery, but luckily the baby didn't catch it.

I feel utterly broken from surviving on 2 hours of disrupted sleep a night, but I know things will improve soon. Baby has reflux and the usual wind and digestive problems for this age. She's a very noisy sleeper like my first, but at least she will go down in her crib for an hour or two sometimes between feeds (my first would never accept being put down at all!).

Otherwise, my healing from C-section has been going great. I was driving after 3.5 weeks and have no real pain anymore.

Aww so lovely to read your update. Can't believe she's 5 weeks already! How has your older one adjusted to the new arrival?

I'm so pleased you're healing well. Was she your first c-section? I'm probably going to end up having a c-section. Previous births were vaginal but protracted and painful recoveries. Plus she's still breech, measuring very small (currently about 4lbs) I'm over a decade older and have GD. Consultant keeps pushing for a vaginal birth but I don't want the same experiences again with induction, instrumental intervention and labouring forever!

The sleep deprivation sounds brutal, I imagine you're taking it a day at a time.

I've been looking at baby carriers, slings etc. It's all a bit mind boggling 🤣

@Amuseaboosh there’s a fab baby wearing Facebook group. I’m hoping to baby wear my little premmie when we finally get out, make up for lost time!
we spend most of the day with her, but she’s so settled next to me & it breaks my heart every time we have to leave 😢 she’s just over 5wks old now too, 34wks gestational age & we’ve just started trying her with the occasional breastfeed but she had a rough week or so.

IVFlife · 17/08/2025 04:39

Hello. Just saying hi. I'm 40 due in September. I have gdm and various other risk factors so likely induction/,section around 38 weeks

@MrsH26so, so good to hear from you.

I'm sorry your little fighter has had a tough week - 😔 but look how far she's come ❤️🙏

How are you doing in terms of recovery?

Baby wearing, it looks so simple but not at the same time if that makes sense. My DH wants to wear her in a sling/carrier so we're definitely trying to learn about it. Will check the FB group out, thank you.

Are you managing actual rest? Sending you huge hugs 💓

@Amuseaboosh physically im grand! The caesarean itself was a breeze, I was out of bed within 4hrs & only had a couple of doses of paracetamol & ibuprofen. Wound has taken time to heal because I was doing too much & heat waves etc
The NICU journey though, it’s tough! And we have no idea on timescale of getting home yet, so it’s days of treading water & hoping for the best! It’s weigh day again today and they fill me with anxiety.
I’ve changed my pumping schedule about a little to get a tiny bit more sleep overnight, that’s helped a little bit. But because we were nowhere ready for her to come, it’s been all hands on deck to get everything ready for her inbetween visits & keeping on top of cleaning and shopping etc.

it really is never ending

Helloooo, how are you both getting on? 😊

Still in hospital!
Baby has got over the sepsis, then needed a blood transfusion.
But we’re in a flat now rooming in & getting feeding established. This is the frustrating bit, one Dr says we’re ready for home, the next thinks not. There’s no clinical reasons really, just different opinions on whether someone thinks she’s big enough or not! There’s no guideline, no minimum weight policy, so it’s frustrating that we’re waiting on personal opinion rather than clinical factors

Cxx84 · 03/09/2025 19:42

So glad that the babies that have arrived are doing well and that mums are recovering well. I cant imagine the mental and physical stress it must cause having to be in hospital for so long and having doctors not being consistent with going home timescale etc.
Im 35 weeks niw so hopefully get a date for my section soon. They said 38/39 weeks so only 3 or 4 weeks to go!
Im 41 next week, never thought id be having another baby at this age but im actually very excited and a lot more relaxed about it all now.
Hope everyone else is doing well and surviving these last few weeks! My hips, back and pelvis are causing havoc. At least im getting used to being awake most of the night

She's here - 4lb 14oz and I'm in love ❤️ 😍
38+1
She's been breech since 16 weeks and then decided to flip at 37+5 😂 so we went with a vaginal delivery - no more babies now, EVER!!!

Amazing! Congratulations!! 🥰🥰

Mine came too! Vaginal delivery and completely know what you mean about never wanting to suffer that again 🤪.

Just came home from the hospital yesterday and I'm very grateful everything went ok. Hope your little one is doing well x

MrsH26 · 07/09/2025 23:57

Congratulations @Amuseaboosh
We got home today!!! NG free, fully breastfeeding & weighing 4lbs 2oz at 8wks and 1 day
Struggling with reflux this evening we can’t seem to get things on enough of a tilt for her & she’s only comfortable sleeping upright 😢

mamajuelz · 08/09/2025 06:15

Oh wow congratulations! I am so pleased for you!!! This is the best news.

How's everything going now?

Apologies I missed the updates here.

I was in the trenches with sleep deprivation, but things have improved now and she's turning out to be a much better sleeper than my first. I've had a couple of good long nighttime stretches out of her recently, which I didn't have with my first until she was nearly 4 years old!

Great to hear you finally made it home with your little one! How is everything going?

My little girl still has bad reflux, so she spends a lot of time in the baby carrier. Now she's 4 months and constantly stuffing her hands in her mouth which I think is normal for this age, but she brings up little bits of milk a lot. Some days I go through 10 bibs and >20 muslins. I always stink of baby vomit, people must smell me before they see me :D I remember going through this stage with my first, not sure how long it lasts... I guess she'll be on solids soon which I'm sure will help.

Hi all, Baby boy arrived 4 weeks ago. 7lb 11 one week early! Congrats to all. Hope everyone is doing well x

New to the group! How old are you all? I’m 44y. With a new partner and considering having a baby. It would be my third eek!

We ended up being readmitted for 2 days beginning of Sept, she was having choking episodes because of the reflux.
medication has been reviewed and we’re waiting for an appointment with the children’s hospital at the end of the month.

shes doing amazingly though, still can’t lay her down to sleep because of the reflux, but she was smiling at 2wks corrected and she’s very nearly almost laughing by 5wks corrected. Feeds loads during the day but goes 3-4hrly overnight, so I can’t complain really!

  1. With my 3rd. Was a big shock as my eldest is 17 and middle is 7! But now it is just magical and I cant believe I didn't want another. Im so much more relaxed and 'go with the flow" this time around and savoring every minute as I know how fast it all goes! Id say if you and your partner are serious and both on the same page about trying fot a baby.... go for it! X
