Hello!

I'm 44 and have just found out I'm 4 weeks pregnant.

It's all a bit meh at the moment as I've been here before, multiple losses and all over 40. I'm putting it down to the quality of my old lady eggs!

Anyway, I'm back on that rollercoaster. I clearly love the stress of it all!

If anyone else is on the same rollercoaster or even in the same theme park, pop in and say hi ☺️

Hi all, im almost 14 weeks! I will be 41 yrs old when baby is born. Haven't told anybody yet as have been so ill with HG and waiting for scans/test results etc before telling anybody. This was a big shock! Age has definitely caused me to be a lot more concerned about possible outcomes etc. My other children are 17 and 7 so I'm starting all over again. Not quite sure how they will feel either! Im just praying the HG easrs soon because it really is debilitating and my mind is struggling to be able to find joy in anything X

MrsH26 · 12/04/2025 13:12

Thank you @TheGreenCrab slowly getting there, still feel very rough, but it takes time when you’ve been so poorly!

@Cxx84 tell people when you’re ready! We told close family at around 10wks because we went away with them and it would have been obvious. The majority of people at work didn’t know until I was over 14wks, it was quite a relief not having to hide it anymore really. It was stressful being quiet!

EveningReflection · 17/04/2025 09:58

Sorry I've been quiet. Life has been busy and I've been completely exhausted!

Sorry to hear some of you had issues at work and unkind people to deal with. I finally told some work colleagues and it was just a tumbleweed moment. On a teams chat when resourcing came up, I mentioned that I would be going on maternity leave soon and literally no one said a word and then we awkwardly moved on to the next topic! I do work in a geeky male dominated field to be fair.

I'm 27 weeks today and turned 43 yesterday. Currently at the hospital having drunk the sugary gloop (gestational diabetes test), waiting the 2 hours for the next blood test and trying not to vomit, fun times.

I hope everyone is doing well. I have booked a private 4d scan for Saturday, so I'm looking for ward to that. Little one is excited to see the baby in mummy's tummy.

Helloooo, I've been just as quiet but the beauty here is we pop in and pick up where we left off 😊 Happy Birthday for yesterday!

Was the tumble weed moment rectified later with the odd congratulations? People are odd aren't they!

I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling the exhaustion. My energy picked up a little week 14 to 16 but I'm dead again now. Are you feeling movements?

Enjoy your scan on Saturday ❤️

Thank you, I just worked on my birthday and didn't really celebrate, but I will make a day of it on Saturday instead!

Nope, none were forthcoming! Though I had already told the person I work closest with and my line manager and they both congratulated me.

I had something very similar around 20-23 weeks I perked up a bit, but now I'm floored again. Struggling to feel motivated to do anything besides the basics of life!

Amuseaboosh · 17/04/2025 21:14

@MrsH26so sorry you're still not feeling great, you poor thing. I genuinely hope things ease for you very soon ❤️

@Cxx84welcome and huge congratulations! I agree with tell people when you're ready. The age factor is very scary and it's such a different range of emotions. I think I've spent most of this pregnancy looking for problems and haven't really allowed myself to enjoy it. I've been very, very anxious, in part due to heavy miscarriage history and then my age. But so far, so good. I hope things keep going well for you and keep us updated ❤️

@TheGreenCrabwelcome and congratulations ❤️😊 how are you getting on? It's lovely that the siblings are excited, better that than the other way

@mamajuelzcongratulations ❤️ I hope things keep going well for you 😊

We had an 18 week scan today, everything is going well, bar my aforementioned exhaustion. I do feel like I've been pregnant forever and then remember that I'm barely halfway! 😁

I figure if I leave the house wearing pants, I'm winning. That's my bar 😁

Have a beautiful day on Saturday Cake

Hey ladies, who knows what they’re having yet? I’m having a girl this time. This is my second child, my first child is a boy 🥰

MrsH26 · 18/04/2025 08:55

@Amuseaboosh sometimes your body tells you to stop and slow down! I did 42hrs overtime last month on top of working FT. I’m listening now and slowing down a bit, I’m 42, it hits different to when I was 22! Lol

@mamajuelz we’re not finding out, DH really wants to, but he can’t keep a secret, so he said he’ll wait 😊

Amuseaboosh · 25/04/2025 20:16

Evening all, how's everyone doing?

I'm 19 weeks today, it's going fast and slow all at the same time.

I'm feeling huge, my stomach and breasts are no longer fitting in any of my original clothes 🙃

How lovely 💗
18wks tomorrow, lots of little movements now but DH can’t feel them yet. I can’t see this child having a name before it’s born either, lol

Hello darling! How are you? How's your week been? I'm 20 weeks now, can feel her moving, but no one else can 😌

I don't think this one's going to have a name either, some contenders have been Kiwi and Thanos. I'll leave it here...... 😁

Hope everyone else is getting on well and starting to relax a little the further along we all go.

We've got our 20 week scan on Wednesday, it's going fast! 😊

@Amuseaboosh much better week this week, more settled at work, feeling pretty much back to normal after being unwell, getting a few bits sorted in the house to make room for the little one.

We’ve got our anomaly scan on Friday and then uterine artery Doppler the following Friday. My platelets are low, so they’ll get checked in the week too & then 4wkly following that.

Name wise DD suggested Cassandra and nephew suggested Misty or Cynthia…
Yet no one’s keen on what we actually like! Might just not say them out loud until we’ve decided and baby is here!

SnakebitesandSambucas · 03/05/2025 15:29

Oooh my real name has been mentioned 😍

Hey, so glad you're feeling well. What do low platelets mean?

Our scans are 2 days apart 😊

DD has good taste! They're all lovely names and definitely more sensible than any of the suggestions made by my DD's 😬

MrsH26 · 04/05/2025 09:19

Platelets - if they’re too low, it can effect blood clotting, so more chance of PPH. So would need cannulation and more drugs for 3rd stage management. No epidural or spinal if an emergency. And baby could also be born anaemia or with low platelets. So no instrumental birth, Fetal scalp monitoring or anything like if needed because we won’t know baby’s platelets.

It’s not ideal but if I can keep them above 100, that’s the magic number!

Scarftown · 04/05/2025 10:25

We had to have a follow up to our 20 week scan but all done and all looks good. Allowing myself to get a little excited now. Names are going to be tough here. And we aren't finding out.

Amuseaboosh · 08/05/2025 21:32

Does anyone have any experience with a subchorionic heamatoma? They found one at my 20 week scan yesterday, it's over 12cm in length so classed as a large one and it's also lying right by my placenta which caused other issues.

Baby is growing beautifully but the heamatoma could stunt her growth and it's increased our risk of a miscarriage, just when I thought I could relax a little. We're back at the hospital inn2 weeks for monitoring but I'd be grateful if anyone has any experience of this from a personal perspective ❤️

Sounds like lots of us are having girls, we are too. I think the statistics show that girls are nearly twice as common as boys for older mums, which might explain it!

I've been adjusting to being diagnosed with gestational diabetes. It comes with some extra risks and I've had to drastically change my diet. I'm really hungry and missing my carbs! Only 8/9 weeks left now though.

Also, had a growth scan today. My first daughter was small, around 20th centile, but this baby is more like 60th.

@Amuseaboosh sorry I haven't encountered a hematoma before.
