Hello!

I'm 44 and have just found out I'm 4 weeks pregnant.

It's all a bit meh at the moment as I've been here before, multiple losses and all over 40. I'm putting it down to the quality of my old lady eggs!

Anyway, I'm back on that rollercoaster. I clearly love the stress of it all!

If anyone else is on the same rollercoaster or even in the same theme park, pop in and say hi ☺️

@Fletchasketch oh I'm so sorry. I have been there before. It's heart breaking. Im glad your partner is there for you and you have each other. I had 4 back to back missed misscarriges life can be so cruel. Hugs xx

Fletchasketch · 10/03/2025 15:45

@Amuseaboosh that’s a lovely message. Thank you. Kingston Hospital can fit me in for surgical management tomorrow, so took that option as it’s over quicker. Lots of support, my partner has been wonderful and have some lovely friends nearby who have already said they’ll drop everything when I need company.

@SnakebitesandSambucas wow, you’ve been through a lot. I’m so sorry, you never forget them. Your story does give me a bit of hope though. Did you change anything for your current pregnancy. Thank you for your kindness.

Scarftown · 10/03/2025 15:53

Fletchasketch Aww so sorry to hear such sad news. I think it's all our fear. Hope you have all the support you need. Hear to talk if you want

MrsH26 · 10/03/2025 15:54

So sorry to hear your sad news @Fletchasketch sending you all the love and strength

@Fletchasketch hi 👋🏻 ive had 15 pregnancies since 2015 and 2 living children 6 and 9.

Mix of chemicals, first trimester and second trimester losses.

I'm now 28 weeks and still terrified tbh. I've got a blood clotting anti phosliphlid sorry can't spell! Bi cornerute uterus and endo ademysosis etc. I'm now 37. But you can look at my previous posts. I topped up my vitamin d3, took myisontol and coq 10. Lost weight. But I'm on same medical regime so I honestly don't know I'm afraid. I wish I could have a magical ball too look into for all you ladies. I would advice having a lap and a hysteocospy to check tubes etc. Rest up and have lots of fluids. X

That is so tough, I’m sorry. I’m not surprised you feel terrified, anyone would. Glad to hear you’re on the home straight now, and crossing fingers and toes for the rest of your pregnancy.

Thanks to all for your kind words today. It has been a comfort on a very bleak day.

It will be, allow it to be. Don't feel forced to put on an act or smile. If you can therapy can help. There's no time line on loss xxx

Amuseaboosh · 14/03/2025 21:12

Evening all, how's everyone getting on? I'm so glad it's the weekend! This week has hurtled by but it's also exhausted me. I was hoping after 12 weeks I'd get that 'energy' burst. Nope, not happened and I'm still living off mostly unhealthy carbs Blush

We are 13 weeks today, I have my '12' week scan on Monday. Baby seems to be bumping along nicely though. I'm a little anxious about what the hospital scan will bring but I'm thinking positively.

We have started to tell immediate family. It's a strange sentence and telling them how far along I am, it feels like it's been forever and then I remember how far I've still got to go!

Also, does anyone have any tips on how to share this news with beautiful and kind family members, all younger than me, who are struggling with fertility. Some with failed IVF cycles and others still waiting for things to develop without intervention. We have a couple of family events next month and I do not want certain loved ones finding out like that, (I'm already showing) - how have others handled this with love and compassion without appearing to be condescending?

@Amuseaboosh no energy burst here either! The long shifts at work are killing me and I’m shoving extra shifts in all over the place too because my qualifying weeks for mat pay are unusually early!

Dating scan Monday for me.

I would think being kind but honest and telling those that it may be sensitive for individually rather than in a group.

Hey, how are you? We have our dating scan on the same day! ❤️❤️

How are you getting on with food? Have you started to show yet? I have a risk assessment coming up at work, we sometimes end up in some high risk situations, (think volatile opposing sides and court rooms) so I may end up with 'safer' clients for the duration, I think I'll be bored out of my skull.

I hope you're managing to rest in between work 😊

And I think you're 100% right on individual conversations. I don't want to text but then I think over the phone could be awkward. Kindness and sensitive is the way.

I'm ready for a nap, even though I have so much to do. I've just turned the heating on. What are you doing this weekend?

OP posts:
MrsH26 · 15/03/2025 16:27

@Amuseaboosh
I’m much better thank you! Nausea has eased loads but the tiredness is still kicking ass. Napping every day I’m not working 😂 and I’m usually a get by on 6hrs girl.

Our risk assessments are less interesting, just can’t go to theatre before 20wks and no major moving and handling.

Daughter is home from uni for placement at the moment, so been catching up and tidying up after a teenager and the bf! Working tomorrow, so got a Sunday roast on the go for this evening and then that’s lunch for work sorted too! And loads of house chores. Boring.

We think we’ve found a pram too, and found such a good deal, but very cautious about buying too early!

PurpleTurtleMoose · 15/03/2025 17:16

Hi everyone, I'm new here 🙂. Due 1st September, so about 15+5 today.

After previous losses it still doesn't feel real (though the nausea definitely is!!) but I'm taking each day as it comes. I've not really told anyone yet, just 2 friends and one colleague who I share a room with and needed to explain the periodic retching! It's not quite as bad as it was but I'm still really struggling with food. Everything makes me feel sick to think about 😂.

Hope everyone's doing well

Scarftown · 15/03/2025 19:35

No burst of energy here either. I'm off to the US with work Monday and 15 weeks. Slightly anxious because of previous mmc at 21 weeks so getting a scan as soon as I can when I get back.

re telling other sensitively. I think it's so individual for each couple that there's no right or wrong just be sensitive and don't take offense no matter how the react in the instant. Feel free if they are dicks later down the line. We have always done it individually and by text so they don't have to react in front of me and then we alsyws say happy to meet or call whenever. We are u understand it might not be what they want to hear but calls in their court.

Morning, I hope the work strip is uneventful and not too tiring. I'm so sorry about your previous loss. I hope this pregnancy keeps going in the right direction for you. And as you've not had the burst of energy either, lots of napping whenever you can while you're away.

Good advice regarding telling certain loved ones. I'm speaking with 2 of them today.

Welcome and congratulations. Nausea (and the retching) is the worse! No suggestions with food, I'm sure you've heard them all. Although my husband keeps suggesting the drink Nourishment to me the idea of which makes me gag!

Sorry about your previous losses. It's such an anxious time. Keep posting here, there's lots of support.

Hello! It must be nice to have your daughter home for a little while but if you're anything like me, also a little frustrating at the moment as you're not feeling your best. I hope I've made sense here. I love my family but, I'm genuinely low on tolerance for anything else other than getting through each day - makes me sound a right laugh.

I hope work isn't too taxing today. I'm back tomorrow so will batch cook today. My dating scan is in the afternoon, excited and a bit nervous about that. My last successful dating scan was 11 years ago.
It's all quiet here except for me and the dog, just how I like it 😁

Morning all! I've had a crap week. Had my iron transfusion which went well. But ended up in hospital because of severe dehydration HG and racing heart. Feeling really low as I'm missing my little boys party which I had planned and saved up for. And thinks are quite tense. 😭. Having a scan to check the baby growth as I'm dropping weight fast. Just miserable all round. 29 weeks + 4! Glad everyone is doing better. Scans are always anxiety inducing especially after loss! So I hope you have someone with you. Enjoy the US trip. Make sure your insurance is water tight!

Oh this is rubbish, you poor thing. I feel for you, I've been suffered HG with my first daughter from 6 weeks to giving birth - it's crap!

Are you feeling tense with the stress of it all? I'm sorry you're missing your little ones party. It does feel like the pregnancy becomes all encompassing and it feels never ending. Do you have good support around you?

Yes just tense but also a bit isolated. I just hate not being able to my normal plans. Also I want for nest and do stuff. But can't even lift my head of the pillow. Yeah I had it till birth with both of mine as well. Lucky they are at school so I can rest. But I want to do more!

Oh my lovely, it's tough. Keep going, you're doing great. I know it's hard to see the other side of it when you're in the thick of it, but this shall pass. Getting through a day at a time is a win every time.

I’m very much a leave me well alone girl when I feel pants! And she’s been on placement so haven’t seen that much of her tbh.

Getting major nerves for tomorrow now. Decided against NIPT because we’ve got a fairly early dating scandal, but now I feel unprepared. Scan is at 08:30, so won’t have much chance to think about things in the morning.

best wishes for your scan in the afternoon

referral gone for fetal medicine for Uterine Artery Doppler, growth scans and GTT booked in. Feels very real now!!

best of luck for you later

Aah this has made me so very happy!!!! Huge congratulations to you both. I've been refreshing the page. I'm WFH today but can't really concentrate. What is your due date?

I genuinely hope you can relax a little and start to enjoy this journey. Still a very long way to go, I know but you're on your way. GrinGrin
