@MyGardenDaisies exciting! when is your scan? just had mine booked for when i'll be over 13 weeks, feels like a lifetime as i'm only 9 weeks now, away but hoping it will fly by.

And another over 35-er here too, at 36. it looks like there are quite a few of us in this group😊

My scan will be just over 13 weeks too. Mid March still feels so far away!

I’m 40 and could be 41 by the time baby arrives as my birthday is 5 days before the due date. This is my third and I’ll have had a baby in my 20’s 30’s and 40’s 🤣I’ve also opted for the NIPT which I’ve got a week on Monday.

Fluffydino21 · 14/02/2025 12:28

@jjj2024 @chicke09 Can I ask when you ladies got the dates for your scans? I realise it will be different for each NHS Trust but I'm 9 weeks and still haven't got a letter... was going to leave it to 10 weeks and start chasing.

Thank you!

Melusina123 · 14/02/2025 13:01

I’ve got a scan this afternoon, plus NIPT. Feeling a bit sick with worry! If we get through this hurdle maybe I’ll believe it’s all going to happen but at the same time I can’t shake a bad feeling… I’ve convinced myself it’s either going to be another MMC today or a high risk T21 on the NIPT. 😣Even though I know intellectually the odds are in my favour, it’s hard to be optimistic when you’ve been on the wrong side of good odds a few times already. If we make it through today/NIPT my proper NHS 12wk scan is on the 25th, only 11 days away…!

@Fluffydino21 I self-referred at about 7wks and got confirmation of scan date at my first midwife appointment at about 9+2. Letter arrived in the post about 5 days later.

jjj2024 · 14/02/2025 13:12

@Fluffydino21 i had my booking in with the midwife on tues and the appointment through yesterday. Have you had your booking in appointment yet? It might be worth getting in touch sooner rather than later in case it's an oversight!

@Melusina123 will be thinking of you and hoping all goes well - I feel optimistic for you!

I had my booking appt last week so they called through to book it then and I got the letter to confirm a couple of days ago (I'm 9 weeks)

Fluffydino21 · 14/02/2025 14:59

@chicke09 @jjj2024 @Melusina123 Thank you for sharing! It's weird in my area and you don't self refer for anything. Had my booking appointment about a week and a half ago though so I think I might call on Monday and check in case anything's been lost...

@Melusina123 Really hope the scan and NIPT goes well for you xx

MyGardenDaisies · 14/02/2025 15:16

My next scan is at 12+0 base on private scan measurements.

Then a private one at 16 and then the anomaly scan at 20

thismotherhoodthing · 14/02/2025 16:19

@Fluffydino21 I got the date on the badger app after my booking appointment.

@Melusina123 hope it all goes ok. My scan and NIPT is on 21st feeling nervous now

Melusina123 · 14/02/2025 17:11

Thanks @jjj2024 @Fluffydino21 @thismotherhoodthing , scan all went well. 💕Having serial scans is wild, they develop SO MUCH between scans. A month ago, a nondescript prawn; two weeks ago a little gummy bear; today arms and legs and kicking around like mad!

The sonographer was super nice as well. Bloods taken for NIPT so we’ll get the response on that next week. We went for the option that has the lab in the UK (PrenatalSafe 3, I think) so we could get the results ASAP.

MrsH26 · 14/02/2025 20:33

@Melusina123 so pleased your scan went well! Can I ask if it was private?
I’m older and were thinking NIPT - someone has mentioned to me that my trust may automatically refer due to my age, so need a chat with the screening coordinator.
i’ve had my booking now too. Saying scan will be at 12+1.
then I’ve got a uterine artery Doppler at 16/40 because I’ve had pre-eclampsia before. And I’ll be on serial scan pathway too.
They’ll be fed up of seeing me 😂

Melusina123 · 14/02/2025 20:49

@MrsH26 yes, we went private, our trust only does NIPT if the combined screening comes back positive. It’s exxy, and I didn’t do it last time. But this time I felt like for us it’d be worth it to have an answer sooner. If you can get it on the NHS I’d go for it, definitely.

I think if the NIPT & 12wk scan is OK the NHS won’t scan me again until 20wks due to all my MCs being in first tri, so that’ll be hard going cold turkey off scans having had them at 6, 8, 10 and 12 weeks. 😅

DJE24 · 15/02/2025 11:11

Hi all, I’ve been rather quiet here but now 11w2d and is anyone else just not feeling pregnant anymore?

My nausea disappeared out of nowhere, I’m still tired but other than that, nothing, and it’s making me worried. I’ve suffered a MC before albeit around 4/5 weeks so very early. We had our early scan at 7w5d and all seemed well with a little heart beating away. My dating scan with NHS is not until 13w5d so I’ve got nearly 3 weeks to wait still and it’s horrible :(

Fashionlover123 · 15/02/2025 11:22

@DJE24 try ringing the scan department and see if they have any slots sooner, they might have had cancellations. My friend did this x

Melusina123 · 15/02/2025 13:48

@DJE24 agree with @Fashionlover123 my OH couldn't make the date I got originally so I contacted the scan department and they offered me a scan a day earlier...! Also remember the placenta takes over around the end of tri 1 so it's not unexpected that you'd start to feel better around this time.

Sept25bub · 15/02/2025 17:02

Hi,
definitely feel this too. I turned 35 yesterday and I’m 9 weeks.
Most of my friends had their first between 32-37 so don’t feel too old in that respect. I don’t think you turn 35 and suddenly all the problematic things increase 100%. But I suppose overall the numbers read 35-40 as higher issues. It did feel like I’d go to sleep on Thursday and wake up high risk on Friday based on everything you read 😂

Seems like this group is also a good mix of ages.

I’m trying to keep running and dancing every week assuming the fitter you are the easier it’ll be to carry and deliver a pregnancy too.

Lou98x · 15/02/2025 18:17

Hi all - checking in again! Had my booking appointment last week and found out I have to be under consultant-led care this pregnancy as DS1 was ‘low birth weight’ (he was 2nd percentile when born) so extra scans needed to monitor the placenta this time around…

After having such a straight-forward with DS1, I’m suddenly feeling very anxious about this pregnancy going forward. Scans are booked for around 13 weeks, but this seems ages away now - more time to overthink and stress out!

Lou98x · 15/02/2025 18:25

Got my scan dates after my booking appointment - have you had that yet?

I've had my booking appointment nearly 2 weeks ago but still no scan date.

It seems like most people's 12-week scans are for after 13 weeks. I wonder if that's because this is the busiest time with September being the most common birth month!

Might be worth giving them a ring then - yes I bet they are busy this time of year!

thismotherhoodthing · 15/02/2025 19:35

12 weeks for me today. Was half expecting to wake up this morning feeling miraculously better, but I know from last time this wouldn't be the case. I do think I feel very slightly less horrific - but not sure I could get much worse than last week anyway!

The main thing for me this time has been how rubbish and gross I've felt in general. I'm a bit heavier than I was first time around (wouldn't say overweight, just not in shape) and due to a traumatic year I haven't been able to exercise much as all my spare time has been spent caring for family members. That, coupled with Christmas, winter and then having no energy to do anything and needing to eat every five mins to not be sick has just left me feeling like a sack of potatoes! I am half hoping that second trimester energy will kick in and I'll be able to get on the power walks and tone up a bit, or at least just feel a bit better about myself! wishful thinking?! Anyone else feel like this? Doesn't help when all my jeans are too small already !

chicke09 · 15/02/2025 19:39

Been told I have GD again Sad had it with my first pregnancy but only found out late on. I'm almost 10 weeks so it's going to be a long way to go!

thismotherhoodthing · 15/02/2025 19:39

@chicke09 what were your symptoms and how did they diagnose it? I have been wondering about this

With my first pregnancy I was measuring big so got referred for a scan and glucose test. This was in the third trimester. The glucose test was bloods taken after fasting, had a glucose drink and then a further blood test 2 hours later.
