Hi everyone, just found out I'm pregnant today at 9dpo, I wanted to make a thread for people to join who will be due in September 2025!

Hi everyone! Been great reading all your updates and anticipating what lies ahead as I’m 6+5 today. My main symptoms are feeling super nauseous the past week and frequent leukorrhea ranging between cloudy white or rarely with a tinge of yellow (learnt from this thread that it’s normal so thank you 😊).
Veerryyy impatiently and SO nervously, after my previous MMC, counting down to my first scan with EPU at 8 weeks. Fingers crossed! Think I will ask for abdominal scan if possible, has anyone else ever specifically requested this at 8w? I don’t mind if they do that first and then say it has to be internal. Just a little niggle I have from my previous experience.

Can’t believe how anxious I feel nearly all the time. Running out of things to distract my mind with!! 😂

Melusina123 · 10/02/2025 19:01

@LimeStork hello! I've had abdo scans at EPU at 7wks before, but also internal at 8wks (different pregnancies). It seems to depend a bit on the sonographer. I think you'd be fine to ask for it! Just as long as you know (which you do) that they might need to switch to an internal scan depending on what's happening.

There are a few of us on here with experience of loss so we can all count down nervously together. 💙

jjj2024 · 11/02/2025 12:52

hey @LimeStork , in my last pregnancy I had an abdominal scan at 8 weeks. I'm sure if you ask they'll at least be okay with starting with that. And I understand the anxiety of waiting! it's so hard trying to stay distracted but not long to go now 😊

I just had a viability scan and there was luckily just one baby in there, measuring on track at 8w6. So relieved!

LimeStork · 11/02/2025 13:03

Thanks so much @Melusina123 & @jjj2024 that’s useful to know.

6+6 today, have had a bit of fresh pinkish spotting/light bleed scare Monday night and it has now turned to brown spotting today so have my first scan scheduled for Thursday which is much earlier than planned. Not sure what has triggered it, have read that it may be due to intercourse so hoping everything still may be ok. Fingers and toes crossed😖

KittyFantastica · 11/02/2025 15:37

Hi @LimeStork sorry to hear you've had some worrying spotting. I also had some on Sunday, red blood followed by a bit of brown. The 1st trimester constipation and bloating have been pretty bad for me, so EPU suggested it was likely due to that. I have a scan on Friday for (hopefully) reassurance.

I was 7 weeks at my last scan and they did it internally. I'll be nearly 9 weeks at the next one, but I think they may be internal again to check my cervix/for any bleeding around it.

Hope it all goes well for you.

MrsH26 · 12/02/2025 19:29

I’ve been super quiet here, needed to withdraw a little.
We’ve got a scan tomorrow after check viability after our last scan just showed gestational sac and yolk sac.
I’m absolutely terrified all won’t be ok!

thismotherhoodthing · 12/02/2025 19:54

@MrsH26 good luck and fingers crossed for you.

I'm 11+ 4 today and it's been a bit of a week. I've had Covid, DD not sleeping at all, general life/family stress and my sickness and nausea has reached new heights. Hoping everything ok at scan on 21st and really hoping sickness doesn't last much past that. I've booked NIPT for the same day as my scan, was on the fence about it but then found I was getting anxious about it so have done it.

Is anyone else over 35? Had my first child at 33 and I'm now 36. Will be 37 when baby born if all goes to plan. All I seem to see on Mumsnet is people talking about how late this age is to have a baby

AMMxx · 12/02/2025 20:08

@MrsH26 fingers crossed everything is ok for you.

@thismotherhoodthing good luck with your scan and NIPT! I’m 10+6 and had the NIPT yesterday because like you I was stressing about it. It’s a small price to pay at the end of the day for peace of mind.

I am 34 but will have turned 35 by the time the baby is born. We want another one at some point (this is our first) and I am a bit concerned about being a bit older when the time comes for that but really it’s more to do with risk of complications than anything else. But I also think if you’re fit and healthy surely a couple of years can’t make a difference (and just to be clear I don’t think 35-40 is old at all!).

Had my first midwife appointment yesterday which was dull and took ages but at least I’m on their systems now.
Considering getting a doula as I think it would be nice to have someone supporting through the lead up to the birth and the birth itself. Has anyone got experience of having one / considering it?

Fluffydino21 · 12/02/2025 20:30

Does anyone know if it’s recommended you wait a week or two between ultrasounds?

I want to book a private NIPT but won’t be able to get it until 11.5 weeks. the place that does it locally seems like there’s no staff available to do it for the week I’m 10 weeks.

But with it being 11.5 weeks I’m mindful it could be very soon before or even within a day or two of the nhs 12 week scan… which I still don’t have a date for to further complicate things.

Chellooo · 12/02/2025 21:05

@thismotherhoodthing I'm 39! Had my first when I was 38, little one will arrive just before my 40th... been a busy few years 😂

Melusina123 · 12/02/2025 21:20

I'm 38, will be 39 by September. First kid born just after my 37th birthday. We started trying when I was 35 but these things don't always go to plan. 🤷‍♀️ In the end 37 felt pretty perfect - financially secure, emotionally more stable, etc. Whereas when we got a positive test in the first month, I was a bit like, "oh shi--", but that ended up a CP. 39 feels a bit older, I would have liked to have been done when I was 38 but again sadly it didn't pan out that way. I think there are a lot of older mums on Mumsnet! So many 'over 40' conception/ pregnancy threads. :) I think it's super cool.

I have a scan + NIPT on Friday. Feels like the biggest hurdle so far. Just hoping everything's ok.

I’m in a similar boat. Was 34 when I had my first and will be 37 when this one is born. This pregnancy is already putting me through my paces and my last one was easier. I do wonder if it’s my age. I always say I wish had met my husband 10 years earlier so I could have done this in my twenties not thirties!

Satibg that, there are lots of older mums out there right now too.

MrsH26 · 13/02/2025 03:00

Thanks for the thoughts everyone.

@thismotherhoodthing 42!! 🙈
Second baby, first is 19…

thismotherhoodthing · 13/02/2025 07:05

@Chellooo @MrsH26 that's so cool!

@MrsH26 How's your 19 YO feeling about it?

@Mudonstairs yes that's how I feel too! But I am definitely could not have provided for two children in my 20s!

@Melusina123 it took us a while the first time around too. Then this year we had a break from trying as we had some traumatic family events so everything is just a bit later than ideal, but what's meant to be will be I suppose. Good luck with the scan! Mine isn't until 13 weeks.

@AMMxx yes I hadn't thought that much about NIPT but then started to think about it loads so I'm glad I've booked it. Hope the results are quick. I was thinking about a doula too but I would like one mainly for the post partum support and some of the ones in my area are pregnancy and birth only. A few of my friends have had private midwives recently and I looked into that but was put off by the cost

This happened to me , when I went for my first scan , gestational sack and yolk was there but no foetal pole , they told me not to worry and that this happens if you ovulate late . I went back a week later and there was a heartbeat there. Cross fingers for you and hope everything goes ok xx

MrsH26 · 13/02/2025 07:54

@bsummer thanknyou for the reassurance, I know it’s normal to see anything at the gestation I was, you still worry though, don’t you?

@thismotherhoodthing she doesn’t know yet! I want to make sure this scan is ok first. We’ve got a family trip to centre parks at 10+ though, so it’s going to be very obvious by then and it’s only fair she knows before the rest of the family. Very nervous about telling her!

thismotherhoodthing · 13/02/2025 08:21

@MrsH26 aw how exciting . I am nervous about telling family too for different reasons. One of my parents had a serious accident earlier this year and is now disabled- I know they will feel mixed emotions about it, as well as the fact I will be able to help out less. I keep telling myself that once everyone knows it will all feel easier and I'm sure people will be happier than I imagine. I'm sure your daughter will be happy even if she's shocked at first. I can't wait to tell my 3YO!

Yes, this is true. I don’t think society is set up for people to have kids in their twenties. By the time I finished studying and was in a stable job with a good salary I was in my 30s, yet the ideal biological age to have kids is waaaaaaay younger that this. I don’t think society matches up to nature’s standards!

AngeDD4thSept · 13/02/2025 10:35

Hello!

Just joined and catching up on the chats.

I’m 43! This is my second, but definitely have thoughts about being pregnant at this age.

I’m 11 weeks today - but feel like all my symptoms have gone - anyone else had this? I’ve felt like death energy wise and sore back and that’s now gone. I’ve had 3 scans as had some spotting, and last week baby was wriggling about at 10 weeks but always thinking the worst!

MrsH26 · 13/02/2025 10:44

@AngeDD4thSept it’s to remain positive isn’t it? And it’s easy for people to say symptoms fluctuate. But it really is normal

MrsH26 · 13/02/2025 10:44

Scan all good!!
little one has grown well, measuring just about on track and heartbeat all good. Phew!

I'm 40. Had my first at 36 as it was Covid I joined a Facebook group of expectant mums and I was very much the average age for the mums in the group. I had no concerns about my age or anything. Now it does seem to be a huge deal if you are over 35 and don't know what's changed, if it's just my perception on mumsnet and my social circle or if my age is a bigger deal now I'm older and it's riskier and so I'm more aware of it.

emsaussiegirl · 13/02/2025 19:12

I'm 38 and will be close to 39 when I'm at the due date, it's my first pregnancy too so fingers crossed! I think they say over 35 is a 'geriatric' parent but really it should be fine

Melusina123 · 13/02/2025 21:06

@emsaussiegirl I think they now avoid "geriatric" 😂 advanced maternal age is the preferred term but in the trust I'm at 50% of the births are apparently to women over 35! So they don't really bat an eye. The only time anyone was awkward about it was after my last birth I had to have the clexane shots and the Dr who was going through the reasons was like, "I don't like to say this but you are over 35 and that is a risk factor for clots" and I was like, "??? I mean you have said the truth, my age is over 35 so ok?"

MyGardenDaisies · 13/02/2025 21:10

Hey! 10 weeks tomorrow based on LMP, very excited to have the next scan soon to see little baby ❤️

still the same symptoms, acne, nausea, fatigue, bleeding gums and constant peeing. 😄

can’t believe how soon it’s 2nd trimester already!!!
