Hi everyone, just found out I'm pregnant today at 9dpo, I wanted to make a thread for people to join who will be due in September 2025!

@chicke09 ahh I had it in my last pregnancy. Checked at 28 weeks due to my BMI. I have my test next week but also think I have symptoms currently. Have you been eating the diabetic diet this pregnancy so far?

I did start off with but I've been feeling so sick that I've just been eating what I can (mostly crackers, toast, bananas)

Melusina123 · 16/02/2025 13:49

How's everyone going today?

I'm a bit over 11 weeks (!) and still feeling pretty rough - nauseous, exhausted and constipated. 🥲 Can't believe I've made it this far! Still riding high from the lovely scan on Friday, but also nervous for the NIPT results call this week.

MyGardenDaisies · 17/02/2025 06:58

Hey! Based on LMP, I’ll be 12 weeks next week!
this time has flown by so quickly!
feeling same symptoms still, maybe now more emotional too

LovingMamaWifeTeacher · 17/02/2025 12:30

@Melusina123 the nerves are setting in for me. I’m 11+4 and have my 12 week scan on Thursday.

I’ve had hyperemisis for the second time this pregnancy but miraculously I’m on day four of not being sick. I know it’s likely a combination of medication finally working now I’m on Xonvea and the placenta kicking in but with DC1, I still felt awful up until 16 weeks or so. The anxiety has really ramped up that this means something is wrong!

Fluffydino21 · 17/02/2025 13:40

I called the Midwife team today as I hadn't received the 12-week scan letter and was a bit shocked by the response..

They just said it was normal not to have heard yet (I'm a few days off 10 weeks). That no scan appointments were currently available and I'd be given an appointment when one was. I'd hear at some point between 11-14 weeks and might only get a couple of days notice of the scan. It could be a letter or it might be just on Badger Notes or a text. (Why would it never be a consistent form of communication??)

I mentioned about trying to organise it around work so needing some notice (I'm self-employed so it can be tricky) and they just said it was important to try and make it to the scan and if I couldn't to let them know I wouldn't be attending.. I didn't get the impression there was any flexibility with this. It was kind of if you can't make it on a date with a couple of days notice that's your scan opportunity gone.

The majority of my interactions with the NHS so far this pregnancy (this is my first) haven't filled me with confidence and I'm getting increasingly nervous tbh 😥I'm going to just sort out a NIPT and scan privately myself but obviously for the birth and other things will be reliant on the NHS as I can't stretch to covering that privately. Don't know if I'm being overly dramatic...! It could be the hormones and being fed up from feeling under the weather.

Melusina123 · 17/02/2025 14:01

@Fluffydino21 that's really bad!! I thought my trust was slipshod but they do at least act like getting you to appointments/scans is mildly important... Is there a different hosp you could switch to, or none else close by enough? When I had an issue with my hosp (last pg) not prioritising helping me make it to appointments I told them I was happy to miss the appt if they got a named clinician to confirm there were no concerns. Then a midwife rang me back and found me an appointment. 🤷‍♀️ So it sometimes does pay to be a bit difficult about these things.

@LovingMamaWifeTeacher loss of symptoms is such a double edged sword at this stage! My sympathies!! I'm sure it's just the placenta as you say. Every pregnancy is different!

@MyGardenDaisies exciting! When is your next scan again?

Edited

There is a different hospital I could consider but I'm not sure if the main issue is more the midwives rather than the hospital... She didn't actually ask which hospital I had chosen when she said all this but I suppose she could have made an assumption / see it on my notes.

She basically said not to chase them about it until I was at 14 weeks which shocked me! That would definitely mean it was too late for the combined test.

My partner thinks I should leave it a few days and try and call the hospital directly rather than the midwives to see what they say.

thismotherhoodthing · 17/02/2025 16:29

@Fluffydino21 that's terrible! I was told to chase if I didn't have an appointment by 10 weeks. I would be a bit pushy if you can - could you try calling the appointments line at the hospital to see what's on file for you? Or even the maternity assessment unit as they might be able to point you in the right direction. Honestly this is why the NHS is in such a state

Mol1820 · 17/02/2025 18:05

Hi everyone, I’m new to the group - I had a scan today confirming I’m 8 weeks today which means my due date is end of September😊 (I’ve been waiting to find out if due date was end of Sept or beginning of Oct before joining any posts). Has anyone set up a WhatsApp chat for Sept 2025 due dates to chat on more easily?

AMMxx · 17/02/2025 18:48

@Fluffydino21 that’s really bad of them. Obviously the NHS is a massive bureaucratic machine but surely there is a better way of organising these things?! It really winds me up that their booking system works by just allocating people appointments and expecting them to be able to make that specific date and time.

I told my midwife at the first appointment that I wouldn’t be able to do the first scan until after I’m back in the country as I was going away for a bit, and that can they please book it for after the date I’m back. The response was that they are unable to pass the message to the relevant department so I need to wait a few days for all the info to go through and then call the booking department. I have yet to call them as I’m dreading the inefficiency that undoubtedly will follow…

I am currently abroad and my 12weeks is on Thursday so have booked a private scan locally and if everything is ok, will tell my family. Unsure whether to wait for the NIPT test results or not, they should come by the end of the week but might not…

Fluffydino21 · 17/02/2025 19:42

@AMMxx i know it’s crazy. Some of the ladies on here just had it booked by the midwife at their booking appointment so they could agree a date they could do. So much more sensible!

If they only give people 48-72 hours notice then there’s way more chance they won’t be able to make it and then it’s too late to even offer the slot to anyone else!

@thismotherhoodthing i think that’s what I’ll do.

Fluffydino21 · 17/02/2025 19:43

Welcome @Mol1820 ! Hope it’s all going well so far

MrsH26 · 17/02/2025 20:47

@Mol1820 hi! I’m 8+1 today.

Sorry to hear some of you are having difficulties with the appt’s, I’ve been very lucky with everything so far

MyGardenDaisies · 17/02/2025 21:44

@Melusina123 12+5 nhs one :) when’s yours?

Melusina123 · 18/02/2025 06:21

@MyGardenDaisies my NHS scan is a week today!

Scarftown · 18/02/2025 09:01

Melusina123 · 18/02/2025 06:21

@MyGardenDaisies my NHS scan is a week today!

Same here. I'm so anxious I'm just hibernating at the moment. Still have symptoms and no reason to think anything wrong but previous late loss where between the 12 and 20 week scans I had no idea how wrong things were mean I no longer trust my body.

Melusina123 · 18/02/2025 09:18

@Scarftown I'm so sorry to hear about your late loss! That 8 weeks between those two scans is so hard even if you haven't had an experience like yours. 😔 Just remember things almost always go right even for people where they've gone wrong in the past. Are you under any special care/plan this time because of your history?

KittyFantastica · 18/02/2025 10:24

So sorry to hear you've been through a late loss too @Scarftown 😢 I was 19+3 with my little boy when I went into premature labour last year. It's the cruelest thing. Everything lead us to believe the second trimester is the safest/easiest, and it was a total lie for us.

Baby was absolutely perfect and alive the whole way through, but I had some pain that started three weeks before and no one did anything. Never was examined and was told pain in pregnancy normal! I was bunged a bunch of antibiotics despite testing negative for any UTIs or other infections. It's made it impossible to trust anything now.

Scarftown · 18/02/2025 11:03

@KittyFantastica @Melusina123 Thank you both. I will get an extra scan this time around and I'm sure if it would kick up a fuss my bereavement midwife would get me another if I was concerned. Last time I heard the heartbeat at 16 weeks and 19 weeks but when I went to scan at almost 21 weeks it turns out that my baby had stopped developing at 14 weeks but heart was still beating away. There's the rational side, the trust side and anxiety all at play. Some days are good. Some days are bad. But I don't want to add to anyone else so as much as it's good to talk and read I'm a bit quiet in the groups.

KittyFantastica · 18/02/2025 20:08

I can be the same @Scarftown I went into labour at 19+3 for unknown reasons. Baby was alive and perfect. Unfortunately, once premature labour happens one time, it's unlikely that it won't happen again, so I'll be having a lot of monitoring this time to try and catch anything sinister before it happens.

It's the worst thing I've ever been through and it changes you for life. All we can do it have hope for this time 🤞❤️

@Mol1820 hi! I’m 8+1 today.

How exciting! How are you feeling? I feel like I’m getting off lightly with symptoms compared to what some of my friends have gone through but that is meaning I worry more that it’s not progressing. I had an early loss in November and hadn’t had a full cycle before getting a new positive test in Jan which was a (very welcome) surprise 😊

Good and bad days. Like you I worry on good days!
horrific nausea but not actually being sick, but I am somewhat emetaphobic, so I’m good at not being sick.
work is rough, I do 12.5hr shifts

Sorry to hear you’ve been having such bad nausea 😣 yeah I’m feeling that too, I’m a primary school teacher and struggling now! I just get so tired so quickly and obviously on my feet all day! What do you do?

Lou98x · 20/02/2025 03:33

Just over 10 weeks now based on LMP, and feeling rotten! Constantly nauseous (although haven’t been sick like I was with DS1), and so so tired! Been going to sleep at toddler’s bedtime this week as I just can’t hack staying awake 🤣

I would say I can’t wait for the second trimester, but if my first pregnancy is anything to go off, then I won’t feel better for a while yet ☹️

Hope you’re all doing ok!
