Has anyone else started to put on weight? I've put on 5lbs 😓 only 12 weeks today.

YES! I've put on 2kg (which is similar to you) and i'm only small build, so its WELL obvious. I'm only 11+2. God help the rest of my pregnancy if i'm already gaining now! 😂

Pricklypickles · 16/12/2024 15:42

@purplespink god yes! I dread to think how much, but I haven't weighed. Unfortunately constant eating has been the only way to cope with nausea for me. It's getting a bit better now at 12 weeks, as in I'm craving healthy food again but my appetite is still crazy.

I haven’t weighed myself and I’m not planning on! I don’t even want to know 😂😭

Does anyone wanna make a WhatsApp group instead? I find it so hard to keep up with Mumsnet, WhatsApp groups are much easier for us all to ask questions and connect! Let me know what you all think?

@Pricklypickles that's exactly the same as me! It helps the nausea. I would also be interested in joining a WhatsApp group Smile

@LifeonMarss As @GCS34 CS34 said it is normal all the way through the pregnancy to get cramps but very hard not to worry. It could be many things - round ligament pain, pelvic pain, weight gain (remember at 9 weeks the womb is now the size of an orange so if you are further on it will be bigger), the uterus/womb expanding, the pelvis changing shape, hormones or even the baby burrowing deeper into the walls implanting further. Also can be a sign of dehydration. Around 9 weeks onwards the placenta takes over from the yolk sac so think about what the placenta is doing too, all the changing hormones.

If you have not had a scan and below10 weeks and the pain is very sharp, continuous, at either side of the stomach rather than the middle - the hospital will want to check for the position of the embryo such as looking for ectopic pregnancy. Overall though if the pain does not go off with rest, drinking water, or bleeding occurs then please phone the midwife/go to the hospital. By the way i am a biology teacher so know far too much and send myself into a tizzy worrying about everything.

Hope it is okay though :) I have the same at the moment with spotting/discharge so another scan tomorrow :(

What a lovely pic. So good to see so many positive scans and so many measuring ahead. I am sorry about the spotting. Is this the first time or have you had it before during this pregnancy / others? Hopefully you’ll get your booking apt through soon. Be nice to have it this year but I don’t know how big an area your midwife covers. Mines quite a small area so quite lucky she has availability a lot.

I have had the NIPT test. Had it on Wednesday evening and now eagerly awaiting the results. I’m so nervous — I keep having dreams about high results and carbon monoxide randomly 😂 I should get my results Thursday ish this week. Are you doing it? It was £400 but if everything is okay, I think the piece of mind is invaluable. And we’re telling everyone Xmas day (12 week scan Friday) but our parents already know as we’re IVF so they knew when our transfer date was.

half day on a Monday is a treat!!

@GCS34 How's your day going? I have had spotting with all my pregnancies in the first trimester, including miscarriages. The doctor phoned me today and is thinking of aspirin but will find out tomorrow.

I am thinking of going to the window to the womb for the NIPT (The advanced NIPT is £275 and £90 extra for a scan) as i think it will be quicker and easier. I can get it on Thursday (9weeks 6 days) or Saturday (10 weeks 1 day) but the results will be around Xmas day. We had our scan there last week and they were so good. I have not even got a booking in appointment/bloods through the midwives yet so by the time they do NIPT it could be well into the NY. BTW I am in Yorkshire. I am worried about the test that it will give me a high chance and then I will worry more over Christmas and worry more until 16-18 weeks for an amino. How are you feeling with the NIPT test? is there a particular reason you have had it? Is your result due through an app or through email? I got the scan and 15 week blood test with my others but never had this then. Also are you going to find out the gender?

I get so tearful when someone says they have got pregnant through IVF because i don't think so many people understand how heart breaking and soul destroying at times it can be going through IVF and all the TTC/testing before. I have a hell of a lot of respect for you to go through it all because it is so hard. My OH did IVF for years with his ex and they never conceived.

Has anyone else started to put on weight? I've put on 5lbs 😓 only 12 weeks today.

@purplespink remember weight gain at first will be mainly bloating, change in bowels, the increase in size of your womb, the extra volume of blood (30-50% extra than non pregnant) and your body is retaining extra fluid.

I have gained 1lb and I am 9wks 3 days. I am very conscious about gaining weight because i have just lost 39lbs on the weight loss injections but I have cut down to weekly not daily weigh ins :(. I feel like ive gained 7lbs by the feel of my tum.

MiniMaisy · 16/12/2024 21:01

I had my scan at the EPU today. The baby measured 8+6 which is great, heartbeat was there, and all is well.
my bleeding is still ongoing but they were so assuring saying it is from a different part of my uterus and has nothing to do with the baby.
how traumatising! I actually need to use a pad these days. They said it’s subchorionic bleeding. apparently it should stop in couple of weeks but some women can have it throughout the pregnancy!

@GlitteryPurpleMum ive had horrible nausea today — I thought I had come out the other side but it was back with a vengeance today! Least you know that spotting (for you) is common. Always worth checking it out tho like you have.

yes I’m so so worried about the result 🥺 I’m like you and just thinking what will I do if it’s high. I’m really worried and now kinda like do I wanna know? I’m hoping all will be okay and I’ll feel better but you just don’t know. And yes we’ll find out the gender.

awww thanks! It’s been a 2 year journey to say the least, with 2 rounds, 6 transfers, 1 miscarriage and about 9 million injections. Hoping this lucky number 6 is the one! This was from a fresh round of new embryos so much better results. And the reason for the NIPT is because of our journey so far. I’m so worried and nervous we just want to feel reassured (hopefully) and be able to enjoy some of this pregnancy. How about you? And good to know ok the weight gain too — thanks for the inside biology tip!

@GCS34 wish I could send love hearts for the post. That is one heck of a journey for you. I hope your results are good on weds or Thurs. Remember we are all here for you ❤️❤️ and whens your 12 week scan ? You will probably have more regular scans and tests with being IVF too.

Whatever the result you will probably do what I do and Google the % chances of everything. They're not 100% accurate some places say 91%. Do you think boy or girl ? Or say what I say i do not care as long as healthy.

That's an idea does everyone want to do the Chinese gender predictor online and if we find out we can see how accurate it is. 3/4 of mine have been right.

I cannot plan more than a few hours ahead at the moment. I am still worried with the spotting/discharge. 😕

Awww thank you @GlitteryPurpleMum. You’re so kind. It’s funny, when you go through it you don’t really see it as much as it’s just been drawn out over 2 years, but when you look back over what’s gone on it’s mental. Oh and to add 3 x IUI’s to that, and about 4 cancelled cycles due to my body not playing ball. So feels very weird to actually be pregnant and so far, things showing okay. My 12 week scan is on Friday morning 😬🫣 so scared! We had a scan with our NIPT on weds and that was showing everything spot on. Was measuring 3 days ahead so I’m hoping that’s a good sign!

how far are you — 10+3? and when is your scan again? Did you say new year?

and yes healthy will be the main thing but I do feel like it’s a boy but I’ve no rationale or reasoning to that! How about you and what have you got already? i did the Chinese predictor and it said girl so god knows 😂 what does it say for you this time?

oh gosh. Has it got worse or just persistent? And have they said anything / seen any reason why? My midwife said to me that pregnancy is like replumbing the house with the water mains still on - sometimes you're going to get some leaks. 😘

Aww fab news that is nothing to do with the baby! Hopefully it subsides soon as must still feel so worrying.

@MiniMaisy congrats on the scan. That’s great and so pleased measuring all okay and baby is all good. Apparently bleeding and SH’s are more common with ivf pregnancies. Two friends had them who were both IVF mums. Not that that makes it anymore reassuring!

good news though. What a relief 😅

How is everyone today? I've had a bit of an emotional breakdown this morning and cried loads for no reason at all, thanks hormones haha! I am a bit anxious about 12 week scan on Thursday so I'm assuming it was down to that, but could have done without it as I now look extremely puffy. Anyone else had this yet or am I a little bit unhinged?

Oh no, that's doesn't sound fun. But there's probably a lot of nerves around the scan, hopefully it will all be good news and over before you know it!

Emotionally I've been okay (apart from crying at the polar express recently). My nausea is now going from all day to just some parts of the day so that's a win!

Have a private scan booked for Saturday too.

@MaSads Oh bless you! I cried yesterday like that because I had tooth ache! My husband was like 'I can't understand you poppet' 😂I totally get the nerves for the 12 week scan. I'm absolutely petrified for Friday, so I don't think you're being irational. It's a really weighted scan, and a weighted week around it all, so the pressure naturally feels 10x what it would for any other scan. When was your last check in?

Yeah hopefully going into NYE and the new year feeling all happy and positive 🤞🏼 does anyone know how long the 12w scan usually takes?

Yep should be around 11+4 on Saturday from my LMP, give or take a day as per previous scans.

Genuinely can't believe Christmas is next week as only just feeling like I'm starting to crawl out of my nausea hole 😱

I'm hoping my nausea and sickness has passed by Christmas Day because feeling like I have the past few weeks no way can I tackle a Christmas dinner. Thankfully we're hosting this year so if I do start to get ill at least it will be in my own house

Be a lovely way to end the year! Hopefully for all of us with scans before 2025. Oh wow you're basically having a 12 week scan on Saturday then - least that is a reassurance!
And I know -- I can't believe it's come round so fast. Think that's because we've all been living week to week with pregnancy! I thought I was over my nausea, but it's come back worse than ever yesterday and today so god knows what's going on. I imagine as I'm on progesterone supplements until 16 weeks, I'm going to be feeling rough until I stop them! Aye aye ayeeee

12 week scan done today, baby measuring 12 weeks and 5 days so I have a due date of 26th June.

Baby was so awkward, was upside down and refusing to co-operate so no NIPT test 😂
