12 week scan done today, baby measuring 12 weeks and 5 days so I have a due date of 26th June.

Baby was so awkward, was upside down and refusing to co-operate so no NIPT test 😂

@narwhalsarereal WOW That's amazing!! Congratulations and 5 days ahead - great news! Defo a boy if it's already awkward 😉

CatmumTTC · 17/12/2024 13:26

Hey all just catching up now I'm back in the UK. Lovely to see the positive scan news. I'm patiently waiting for my private 9/10 week scan this Thursday, excited to actually see something a bit more baby shaped. Also finally got my 12 week scan appointment through for 3rd January too, they sent it in the post. Feels like my NHS trust is a bit behind on electronic processes!

Going away in the first trimester was a bit of a challenge. Went from 8pm bedtimes in the UK to a jam packed holiday itinerary. But after a couple of days I readjusted to less sleep and more activity. Luckily my nausea has been mild and intermittent otherwise it would have been a very different story. Main concern is how much pollution I was exposed to in Marrakech, so many stinky mopeds in enclosed pedestrian streets! My CO was already high at the last appointment!

Welcome @GlitteryPurpleMum! I'm in Yorkshire also 😊
@GCS34 bless you, can only begin to imagine that journey! I don't think most people really understand what's involved in the IVF process and just how much it takes over your life. IVF was going to be our next step but thankfully the Letrozole tablets got my ovaries working. But can definitely relate to the surrealness of feeling pregnant after many years of infertility and after an MC. I keep thinking it's a dream or too good to be true. I also have moments where I panic and think I don't actually want a baby because I was so focused on getting pregnant I didn't really think about what it would be like to be a mum!

I had my scan at the EPU today. The baby measured 8+6 which is great, heartbeat was there, and all is well.
my bleeding is still ongoing but they were so assuring saying it is from a different part of my uterus and has nothing to do with the baby.
how traumatising! I actually need to use a pad these days. They said it’s subchorionic bleeding. apparently it should stop in couple of weeks but some women can have it throughout the pregnancy!

@MiniMaisy fab news about the scan 😀 it is good they know what's causing the bleeding but know how nerve wracking it is I've just been there today and had 3hr wait omg but jellybean okay and 9wk5 days measuring. X

Loveeeeee this!!! Amazing news. And a nice early due date, maybe you'll be the first of us to give birth! 🥰 do you need to go back for NIPT?

I'm hoping my nausea and sickness has passed by Christmas Day because feeling like I have the past few weeks no way can I tackle a Christmas dinner. Thankfully we're hosting this year so if I do start to get ill at least it will be in my own house

Mine is deffo getting better although been worse in the evenings last couple of days but glad it's not all day every day now. I'm still not eating loads so also wonder how I'll cope with Christmas dinner. My dinners just now are children's portions and I rarely finish it.
Same as you though, hosting at home so will take myself off to bed whenever I fancy haha.

Be a lovely way to end the year! Hopefully for all of us with scans before 2025. Oh wow you're basically having a 12 week scan on Saturday then - least that is a reassurance!
And I know -- I can't believe it's come round so fast. Think that's because we've all been living week to week with pregnancy! I thought I was over my nausea, but it's come back worse than ever yesterday and today so god knows what's going on. I imagine as I'm on progesterone supplements until 16 weeks, I'm going to be feeling rough until I stop them! Aye aye ayeeee

I've got to drag myself out tonight after work to finish my Christmas shopping as everything has been on hold. Will need my wife to do most of my wrapping too haha.
Oooft progesterone doesn't sound fun, 16 weeks isn't tooooo far away though!

Finally heard from the hospital about my 12 week scan, apparently im on a waiting list but they'll tell me in a few weeks when it is. I'm 10 weeks 4 days today so 12 weeks on boxing day and they said I should be about 13/14 weeks when I have my scan. Idk if I'm being a bit mardy but that seems like quite a while away and I know they can struggle with dating if it's done too late.

@CatmumTTC thank you for the welcome. I have still not got a midwife contact yet at 9wks4 days so frustrated. We had a private scan last week and it was amazing. I've never had a private scan before and wow in the room straightaway, explanations, the pictures and videos. Enjoy yours on Thursday. Think my 12wk scan will be 3rd Jan too. I have another scan on 31st Dec. I would love to go to Morocco happy you had a fab time and i can imagine the exhaustion. In 29 days I go to Cape Verde so excited to get some sun. I will miss the sangria but worth it ❤️

GCS34 · 16/12/2024 22:27

Awww thank you @GlitteryPurpleMum. You’re so kind. It’s funny, when you go through it you don’t really see it as much as it’s just been drawn out over 2 years, but when you look back over what’s gone on it’s mental. Oh and to add 3 x IUI’s to that, and about 4 cancelled cycles due to my body not playing ball. So feels very weird to actually be pregnant and so far, things showing okay. My 12 week scan is on Friday morning 😬🫣 so scared! We had a scan with our NIPT on weds and that was showing everything spot on. Was measuring 3 days ahead so I’m hoping that’s a good sign!

how far are you — 10+3? and when is your scan again? Did you say new year?

and yes healthy will be the main thing but I do feel like it’s a boy but I’ve no rationale or reasoning to that! How about you and what have you got already? i did the Chinese predictor and it said girl so god knows 😂 what does it say for you this time?

oh gosh. Has it got worse or just persistent? And have they said anything / seen any reason why? My midwife said to me that pregnancy is like replumbing the house with the water mains still on - sometimes you're going to get some leaks. 😘

@GCS34 wow that is stressful for you and now you have a gorgeous bean to look at on Friday. I wish all the best for your scan and hope it goes really well and please update us all. Any NIPT results? Eat for sickness it helps and regularly every 2 to 3 hours. Almond are fab for heartburn and sickness. I had severe sickness all the way through my 1st and 4th children, it did not stop at 12 weeks 😭😭

I'm 9wks 4 days or 5 days by scan today. Still surreal we only found out last Monday. No reason for bleeding. They've given me progesterone which I think you suggested? And another scan on 31st Dec. They have given the midwives a kick up the bum for not getting in touch yet. Saw the jellybeans spine, heart and it has grown 8mm in the last 6 days. Only prob was my BP was 180/117 so consultant gave me some BP meds and im on rest (only 15hrs work this week then I'm off till 8th jan).

I love what your midwife said about pregnancy that's so true !! ❤️

@LifeonMarss keep phoning them and see if you can get a cancellation. Good thing about later is the more detail you will see. Have you had a scan yet ?

Welcome home @CatmumTTC how was Morrocco apart from tiring? Glad you weren't too nauseous while there though - that would have been a big challenge! How are you feeling now you're back? Great you've come home to your 12 week scan date too! All exciting things to come back from holiday for 😘

Awww thanks for 'getting' it. IVF is such a lot more than just a few injections. I would say, honestly, I've done about 250 injections over the last 2 years, not to mention the pyschological impact (and cost!) BUT I would do it all again if it means this baby goes all the way. So great you managed to conceive with letrozole - it's so good you didn't have to get to IVF. And yes I am also exactly the same about feeling too good to be true, but also this panic of "oh sh*t there is a baby with this" as it's so geared around being pregnant. But I think that's probably the case for everyone in here who's first time mums.

What time is your scan Thursday? Best of luck for it! 😘

Awww thank you darling. That really does mean a lot. I am SO invested in everyones journeys on here too! And no results yet, no. Sigh. I am suspecting around Thursday/Friday. Thurs will be 5 working days from when I worked out the lab will have received them. And they quote 5-7 working days, so hopefully by the time we have our scan!! Oh god that's horrid, and I'm fully expecting to feel rough until I stop progesterone! I do stop the injections next week though if the scan Friday is okay, so I guess that's slightly less than I'm currently on.

So exciting that you're measuring ahead too. Is that on par with your others or have they all varied? I've read that boys tend to measure a few days ahead, but I have no idea how accurate this is! 😂

Oh you get to enjoy the delights of progesterone pessaries! I'm glad they've given you them, but expect some pretty lucid trumps!! My husband is not enjoying that little added bonus. One tip, go up the bum with them instead of front - it is WAY less messy and you don't ruin all your pants! 😂(Sorry to everyone else reading this!!)

Is your scan on the 31st with EPU to check on bleeding, or is it a private one?

Have you always had high blood pressure? And did you have it with your other 4?

@CadoAvo oh gaddddd - least it will be evening though and quieter... in theory! Ship your presents over to me - I LOVE wrapping. I'm a bit of a freak with it and always get mocked for being really extra with it. Are you having many over for Xmas dinner or is it just you guys?

And yeah tbh I'll be buzzing I'm still doing it if I get to 16 weeks so I don't think I'll care!

I'd defo do what @GlitteryPurpleMum said and try ringing for a cancellation. I would be pretty annoyed about waiting that long too, you're not being unreasonable. It's called a 12 week scan for a reason, surely!?

Can you book a private one in the meantime to tide you over and allow you to share the news with the family over Xmas?

Pricklypickles · 17/12/2024 14:45

@narwhalsarereal Congratulations! 👏
I've had a similar experience to you - scan today and baby also not cooperating, they made me start doing star jumps!!
I'm measuring a bit ahead what I thought - 12+6, due 25th June.

Thanks @LifesABeachx I am just SO relieved that she is okay and all come back as low risk. Now just Friday to go then I can hopefully just let lose and go mental!

When is your scan?

narwhalsarereal · 17/12/2024 16:28

@CadoAvo they said they can do the test at the next scan in February.

@LifesABeachx we are going for a gender scan next month, I'm so impatient I want to know now lol

@Pricklypickles wow, you're the day before me!

MrsS11 · 17/12/2024 17:24

Aww congratulations to everyone who has had scans and results today, so lovely @GCS34 to know those tests are clear and you're having a wee girl! It's so amazing what they can tell now. @LifeonMarss the dating scan is supposed to be in the 10-14 week window so if you're confident of your dates 14 weeks will be ok. Ive had a scan at 14 weeks and they were able to do the tests ok. But, there's no harm asking for a cancellation especially if you haven't had any other scans to check dates.

rivierliedje · 17/12/2024 18:56

I've also just had my NIPT results back, low (1/10000 for everything] but we decided not to find out the sex yet.
I had my '12 week' scan at the same time, but was only 11 weeks and am still waiting for my booking appointment at the start of January.
I've sent out christmas cards to my family with strict instructions not to open them until my say so, as they have announcements in them. I'm getting excited now, alternating between thinking of names and wondering about budgetting on maternity leave!

CatmumTTC · 17/12/2024 19:02

@GlitteryPurpleMum I have to say it was really nice being in a dry country, every restaurant had a comprehensive mocktail menu so didn't miss the alcohol at all! Probably quite a good place to visit pregnant! Enjoy Cape Verde!

@GCS34 that's a lot of injections!! You trooper! So pleased to hear you NPIT came back positive and a girl. So exciting! I keep chickening out of getting the gender blood test. I don't know why! My scan on Thurs is in the afternoon, and I'll be finishing work for Christmas before I go so it'll hopefully be a nice start to holidays! I'll post an update once it's done. I'm a bit nervous but I've got symptoms still and never had any bleeding so trying to focus on all the signs being that things are progressing well.

And yes I think you're right about this being a normal feeling for first time mums. I think it's finally starting to sink in how much our lives are going to change! I'm the first in my close family and friends to have a little one so it's going to be quite an adjustment.
