@GCS34 so pleased your scan went well, been thinking about you!

My anxiety is currently through the roof again (as I think it is for a lot of us!) I’m 6+4 so quite far behind most of you but my nausea is still there but has started to fade a bit and my HCG tests keep getting lighter.

They were ‘dye stealers’ for a while but the one in the pic below where I’m holding it is 6 weeks and then the one on the countertop is today at 6+4 and they keep getting lighter 😢 I know about the hook affect but I thought that was normally later on? Even looked at booking an early scan but all my local ones are booked up right until after Christmas. This anxiety is awful 😣

Try not to worry, the same think happened to me around 6 weeks and I booked in for a private scan and baby was absolutely fine. Someone mentioned it could be the hook effect but could also be how hydrated you were or even the test itself they’re not the most consistent x

Hi how is everyone doing?

I'm 11 weeks tomorrow and officially can't do my jeans up! I have a big bump/bloat but baby is my 2nd child so assumed this would happen as I had a big bump at 11 weeks with my first!

My daughter is asking lots of questions so trying to put the secret off until Xmas but not holding out much hope haha

Sickness is still strong but every other day now, wish I had got anti sickness meds in hindsight but will stick it out now

purplespink · 09/12/2024 10:26

I was on the June thread but I've been bumped into July when I went for a scan last week. I'm 11 weeks today (ish- they didn't exactly say but I'm going off what my private scan said a few weeks ago). NHS re-scan booked for 27th, wish it was before Christmas but what can you do Smile

purplespink · 09/12/2024 10:28

Also, I won't be telling my DC until NHS scan, keeping it a secret is so hard as DS (5) has been desperate for a baby sibling for years Grin

Pricklypickles · 09/12/2024 12:32

@MaSads I can't do mine up either! But my out of control eating is a factor too I'm sure. I've been plodding around in baggy clothes for a while now.

Still feeling nauseous but it comes and goes. Yesterday I felt good, had some energy, got stuff done. Today I woke up feeling hungover and very sicky. Generally feeling fatigued and out of breath all the time which is annoying....reading a bedtime story to my son last night and I had to keep stopping to take a deep breath....yikes!

My first scan is coming up on 17th December and I'm a bit nervous to be honest.

@GCS34 @LifeonMarss Thanks both for putting my mind at ease a bit! You’d think 2nd time round I’d be more chilled but nope😅

@Emj1993 from what I gather, no time makes it any less anxiety inducing!! 😖When did you say you had your scan? Or do you not have one booked yet?

@MaSads oh my god i'm so glad you have said this and that @Pricklypickles agrees - I thought I was just a porker! I've been in leggings constantly (tbh, I was before, but least I have an excuse now!) This is my first too, so I've not even got a slight excuse! Apparently if you're smaller build, which I am, you show sooner. Can anyone vouch for that? And when did you ladies 'pop' and actually look pregnant not just like you'd eaten too much pasta for lunch?

@MaSads when are you planning to tell her and do you have a cute way to yet? And I am with you on the nausea. I seem to be 2 on, 1 off atm. I'm hoping that ratio of good:bad will swap soon!!

CadoAvo · 09/12/2024 15:25

Random question....I've just received an appointment for an ultrasound on my gallbladder. (GP made the referral in August). It's on Friday, I've called them to tell them I'm pregnant and they said the scan can still go ahead. Do you think I could be cheeky and ask them to check on baby? 😅

@CadoAvo How far gone are you? If you're over like 8 weeks you could defo ask as they will be able to see abdominally. If it's earlier, then you'd probably need to have an internal ultrasound to see baby properly so probably wouldn't see anything. Ask - why the heck not! 😅

I'll be 10+2 on Friday!! Already seen baby at 8 weeks (abdominally) so will be nice to check everything is okay. I guess it depends on the person doing the scan. I have a feeling they might not do it though incase there's something wrong and its not their area of expertise. I'll chance it and ask anyway lol

@CadoAvo ooooo you’re not far behind me. I am 10+2 today, so you’re 4 days behind me.
how was your 8 week scan and will you have another between now and 12 weeks scan? Have you got your date for yours yet? I’ve still not. Was told I’d have it by today but still nothing 😭 she said it will be this year, but I’m so hoping it’s pre Xmas!

and yeah they probably will say that about the area of expertise incase they can’t find what they’re looking for. Plus I guess they don’t know what they’re looking at either. My niece is a midwife and looking forward to telling the family at Xmas so I can get her to use her Doppler on me all the time 😂😂

My 8 week scan was really good. Had it at the EPU due to my previous miscarriages. She could see the baby and heartbeat abdominally but then did an internal scan for clearer measurements.
I don't have a date for my 12 week scan yet. I have my booking in appt tomorrow so hopefully get an update then? I was told at EPU that as I'll be 12 weeks on Christmas day, it's likely my scan will be 30th or 31st Dec. So I have booked a private scan for 21st Dec (11+3) so we can tell family at Christmas. I am so jealous you have a family member who is a midwife hahaha

MiniMaisy · 09/12/2024 18:30

I had another private scan today. The baby has grown from 6+4 last Wednesday to 7+3 today which is good news. Despite the spotting, which gives me non stop anxiety. Just hoping for the best, but she said there seemed to be nothing to worry about.

I have my booking appointment with midwife tomorrow, I’ll ask all the questions..
then another appt for some tests on 27/12 and my 12wk scan is on 06/01.
I can’t wait. I will tell my employer after the scan too.

@CadoAvo ah I’m sorry for your previous history. I’m with you on that one - makes the anxiety 10 times worse doesn’t it?!

oh good luck for your apt tomorrow! Hopefully you’ll get it tomorrow or soon after. I was told at my booking apt on Thurs I’d get it either 19/20/23/27th December. But if it’s the latter, I’ll get a private I think on same day as you Just cor piece of mind. Mind you we’re having the NIPT on weds so we’ll get the results next week so that will tell more than the 12 week scan I think!

are you due 9th July then? So exciting! And is this your first too? And not sure if her being a midwife is gonna be a good or bad thing 😂 queue annoying aunty questions!!!

LifeonMarss · 09/12/2024 20:47

Hormones seem to have Intensified today, DH asked me to move the oven dish so it didn’t melt the hob dial things and I cried then I thought about miracle on 34th street when Father Christmas uses sign language to talk the little girl and started to cry at just the thought of it🤣

That’s great news @MiniMaisy i bet you feel a bit of a relief. Do you have anymore private scans booked between now and the nhs one? Exciting you’re growing fast! Hope you’re feeling a bit of relief despite the anxiety inducing bleeding! Has it slowed?

Thank you. I do not have any more private scans booked, but the local place has slots every day available, so I am thinking perhaps I need to book another scan towards the end of next wk, just for my peace of mind.
the spotting is about the same, however yesterday it was pink at some point, I really panicked. Today is back to brownish, so I am trying my best not to worry..

Oh my.. yes hormones are something!! I cry at every christmas advert or most random stuff on tv.. I watched the Grinch (the animation one) with my 4 year old and cried about 5 times 😭 same with 'That Christmas' on Netflix

@MiniMaisy theyd have said at the scan if they were any way concerned / could see why. I know it’s so so common, I had some at 6 weeks and naturally panicked but my sister and 2 friends both had heavy bleeding for 3-4 weeks and all 3 have living babies now. It was a hematoma / delayed implantation bleeding coming out. I had 2 embryos transferred together and one took and one didn’t, so they said mine could have been that / implantation bleeding coming out. So many reasons.

I had a scan at 8+3 and then another on sat at 10weeks. I defo think it helps having regular check ins. After Wednesdays scan and NIPT test , I’ll wait till 12 weeks I think as I’ll be 10+4 on weds at the scan / test so not long after. I find anything more than 10+ days and I start getting scared!

Same here.. 11 weeks tomorrow and I have a mini bump (also lots of bloat in the evenings), the thing is I mostly wear skinny jeans 😖 and it feels so tight, I cannot hold for much longer. I've bought maternity jeans ready for Jan.. don't want to start wearing them before the announcement as I'm worried the band might show.
It's my second, with my first I switched the jeans around 16 weeks but didn't start to really show until 20/22 weeks I'd say! So definitely soooner this time

Just had my booking in appt so now things feel a bit more real! Looks like I'll be high risk (boo) but will get growth scans from 28 weeks (yay).

Also got my flu vaccine so that was fun 🥳😂

@CadoAvo Yay for making the first stop, next stop 12 week scan! Did you get your date today or you got to wait for it?
Sorry to hear you're high risk - I was put as intermediate, so I get a few extra scans but only 16-20 week scan, with the potential for a cerclage (joy!).

Yay for extra scans though. Will you be having them bi-weekly from 28 or more spread out?

MrsS11 · 10/12/2024 17:09

Evening ladies, kind of rejoining as I've been kind of in denial/trying to keep busy. I haven't had a lot of nausea which has made me pretty nervous (even though I've had sooo many other symptoms) but we had our first scan at EPU yesterday and little bean looks good and I'm measuring 8weeks. I've been really ill since Sunday so I was especially worried; wish I'd booked my flu and COVID jabs as soon as I found out I was pregnant! But I just couldn't acknowledge it at the time in case it ends in loss. As a consequence my booking appointment isn't til I'm 10 weeks and I'm wondering if that's going to delay my dating scan 🙄 @MiniMaisy sorry you've had so much spotting, such a worry. I was listening to the 'is it normal?' podcast (which I'd totally recommend) they said up to 80% of women experience some bleeding in pregnancy

No didn't get the scan date yet, she's putting it through now so should hopefully find out in the next week!

My bmi is slightly over 30 hence the high risk. I can't remember if she said, for some reason I think it's 28 weeks and 32 weeks for a scan and then every 2 weeks from there.

I was a bit bummed at being high risk as the hospital website led me to believe I'll be hospital led when I'd rather be midwife led. However midwife said it doesn't change things really, and I can still use birthing pool etc if the circumstances allow. I would prefer birth to be as natural as possible, but no one really knows how it will go until you get there!
