@Superscientist I’m so sorry to read your update, you’ve been suffering so much with the symptoms too so it must be so hard to manage those when you’re worried it’s not going to come to anything. I hope for a miracle for you but appreciate that sounds unlikely at this point. Take good care of yourself. Xxx

LifeonMarss · 05/12/2024 11:37

@Superscientist So sorry to hear about your news, take some time to look after yourself if you can this week. I hope you get some answers about it all x

laalaaleelee · 05/12/2024 11:39

I'm so sorry @Superscientist 💐

@GCS34 there was a larger pregnancy sack but the growth wasn't consistent with 2 weeks. I should have been 9+4 based on lmp or 7-8 weeks be based on previous scan and it was smaller than both dates. No heartbeat and there was a flicker of something 2 weeks ago. They didn't give a date for this scan but even a complete novice I could see there wasn't much change from last time.
She said it's highly likely to be another missed miscarriage. The scan next week is to confirm and she'd like someone else to do it to get a second opinion. I'm over 35 and she suggested I would qualify for counselling and potentially investigations under the reoccurring miscarriage clinic

@Superscientist I'm so sorry, and that they weren't encouraging. That's just setting you up for a really sad week ahead.
I'd recommend taking up the counselling option - I am having it through my clinic, and I find it really helpful. Are you thinking of investigating further?

Thinking of you and take it easy. I feel so much empathy for you as I had this last year, and I know how much your world just collapses. Make sure you're not working or anything today or the rest of the week. xx

Superscientist · 05/12/2024 12:26

Thanks everyone x

@GCS34 I'll take anything that is offered.
I've been off work for the last 2 and a bit weeks on the verge of losing my mind so might do a bit today it will be something different to do but otherwise I'm taking things as they come. My partner came with me so is WFH so I'm not alone.

@Superscientist it does help. I was told I was suffering PTSD and I'm now just working through some of that with CBT and something called EMDR around densinsitising myself to the loss, and not applying it to this pregnancy. I am having a hard time thinking differently with this and disassociating the two.

I'm glad your husband is home. And I agree, sometimes procrastinating and thinking about it more isn't always helpful. Were you signed off before? When is your next appointment - thursday next week?

Superscientist · 05/12/2024 14:05

@GCS34 yeah I've been off with sickness and fatigue. I've been shackled to the sofa for the last few weeks as any exertion has made me nauseous and sick then my daughter gave me her cold.

I had therapy after my daughter was born due to pnd and then earlier this year to process that year a bit more I had some counselling with my HV

My hospital seems to have a rainbow room for support with pregnancy losses. It funds the room where I've been having scans. It's for scans after losses with a private waiting room, loo and scan room so you aren't mixed in with other women having scans. I think it funds the counselling and support too.

Yeah next Thursday. It's early again which is good

Parks17 · 05/12/2024 15:13

I got an email from the hospital with a code for Badgernotes, then a second email saying to download the app and register.

when I try to register it says the details aren't correct?! Has anyone else had this????

I then got a seperate text message from an unknown number stating a date and time for an appointment at my local GP surgery on New Year's Eve - I can only imagine this is my booking appointment?

CadoAvo · 05/12/2024 15:15

@Superscientist ah I'm so sorry it wasn't better news today. That really does suck. Possibly controversial but I'd consider treating myself to that hot toddy if I were you. I had a drink during my 2nd miscarriage when I was told it was measuring 2 weeks behind however I'd also started bleeding so knew it was coming. Deffo take them up on any further support/investigations. Despite being 35 I was told I MUST have 3 miscarriages before they'd consider helping me 🙄 be kind to yourself and let your hubby look after you ❤️

Parks17 · 05/12/2024 15:18

@Superscientist God that's even more upsetting. I'm so sorry I really don't know what to say.

That's lovely about the Rainbow Room. Do they do counselling there then and is that where you will be having your scan on Thursday?

I just had my booking appointment and my Co2 breath test came back alarmingly high! I am a non smoker, and in a really 'green' area and home (electric cars, new home, induction hob etc etc). It came back as 10 then the repeat at the end of the appointment came back as 24! My husband did his and his was 1, and the midwife did hers and it was 0.

The only thing we could think was that I was in London yesterday for work, and got the train down and back, and used the tube, and was in busy Holborn. Do you think this would be it? I'm so worried!!

MaSads · 05/12/2024 16:49

@Superscientist I am so sorry to hear your news, look after yourself these next few weeks, it's so hard x

Julilie93 · 05/12/2024 18:24

@Superscientist very sorry to hear it seems you are going through a mc again... 😔

@GCS34 That doesn't sound right?!! But then if your husband and the midwife tried it and it was very low... very strange even a massive difference between 24 and 10.
I don't know, I live in London, take buses, tubes, have long walks by busy main roads all the time..and my Co2 test was 2.... (MF said 2 is normal because of the pollution but shouldn't be over 4 if non-smoker)

Oh god @GCS34 I live in a built up part of London so I shudder to think what mine might be if so. That is worrying though and does seem quite high. I have my booking appointment next week so will see what my co2 result is.

Superscientist · 05/12/2024 19:07

@CadoAvo if I thought I could keep it down I might. I fancied a comforting cup of tea. Had one mouthful and threw up. Foods ok but drinks wise all I can manage is smoothies and camomile tea and honey and only small glasses/cups.

@GCS34 yeah my body misses the memo about not making you go through pregnancy symptoms and miscarriage! Last time I was nauseous for 5 days after I lost the pregnan xxxcy and it took 2 weeks to get my appetite back. It does make it harder to process when you are still feeling very pregnant. I think so. They have beautiful artwork in the wall, it's a lovely space. I'

My dad previously has had an aps diagnosis but not currently it's complicated. I had my phospholipids tested before TTC my daughter but I wonder if they would be willing to repeat them as I know it can cause miscarriage. My sister has had a similar situation hyperemesis with an pregnancy that didn't get off the ground and minimal growth measuring 6 weeks over several weeks.

We are going to give ourselves some time and space. I'll probably step away from this thread over the next day or so

Best of luck as you all navigate your way through the rest of the brutal first trimester and the rest of your pregnancies

@Julilie93 hmmm that is odd then. It’s just such a difference from 10 to 24. Like a big old jump! We’ve not had the log burner on in over a month, and we have Carbon monoxide monitors in the house already, all consistently flashing green. It’s the fact my husband who lives with me is 1 so it’s not the home related. But I work from home, as I say both our cars are electric and new, and live in a leafy area. I can’t think why it would a) be so high and b) go up such a lot in the appointment. I’m back next week for a recheck.

@houwseevryweekend i know… it seems oddly high. And the fact it went from 10 to 24 within the space of an hour. That can’t be right? I don’t know the risk of high carbon monoxide when pregnant and what levels but this reading is 5 times that of a smoker, so I feel like something is wrong.

LifeonMarss · 06/12/2024 13:40

Woke up yesterday with 0 symptoms and the same today, I've been nauseas and throwing up for weeks so for it to suddenly stop is worrying me. Its the only symptom I've had as well so can't even compare it fatigue etc. Trying my best not to worry but never thought I would want morning sickness to come back

Thetravellover · 06/12/2024 16:42

Has anyone taken unisom/doxylamine?
I am picking mine up shortly for morning sickness and wondered if it helped anyone?

Also has everyone heard back from midwife? I put in a referral at 5.5 weeks im now nearly 8 and haven’t heard anything, getting a bit worried.

houwseevryweekend · 06/12/2024 16:57

Hello all, just wanted to update: I brought forward my private scan to today as I wanted to see if there was any growth since the Mon EPU scan of no fetal pole. I know in viable pregnancy the gestational sac and fetal pole should grow by 1mm a day.

Sadly, my gestation sac showed only 0.25mm growth in 5 days. Still no fetal pole. By LMP I'm 8 weeks, by scan i'm 6w3d which isn't possible as I got my BFP on 4 Nov and even if I was, no growth in either sac or fetal pole is bad news. So I'm taking this as non viable/blighted ovum pregnancy even though the NHS will only 'call it' at my 2 week follow up on 17 Dec. The private scan sonographer did say I could self refer back to EPU to try and get an earlier appointment to not delay a diagnosis. I'm supposed to have my booking apptmt on 10 Dec so when I call to cancel will ask them whether I can get scanned sooner. My preference if my body doesn't start the MC naturally is surgical removal so hoping to get it done before Xmas, enjoy my Xmas with booze/cheese/smoked salmon and try again in the new year.

Im ok as I knew this was a possibility so we avoided getting excited/attached until we saw the heartbeat. I've told my close friends who are super supportive, most of them had MC but successful pregnancies afterwards so I'm hopeful for a rainbow baby next year. The only positive is I'll be able to attend the Oasis concert with my hard won tickets - my old EDD was a week before!

wish you all happy, healthy, successful pregnancies and a great summer 2025!!!

I’m so sorry to read this @houwseevryweekend is there no chance the dates could be wrong based on the scan results? I really hope you get some answers sooner rather than later — I hope EPU get you in sooner and you don’t have to wait until 17th December. Will you try get another scan before? Thinking of you. X

@LifeonMarss mine ebb and flow constantly. I feel rough today but yesterday felt totally fine.
how far are you as I know they can start to lessen around 10 weeks. X

houwseevryweekend · 06/12/2024 17:43

@GCS34 On Monday I did think the dates could be wrong and I was 6w1d like the scan said. But now 5 days later, I'm 6w2d only and still no fetal pole. It's the lack of growth in anything in 5 days that even the private sonographer admitted wasn't good news.

The earliest you can get a BFP is 3 weeks from LMP. I got a Clear Blue weeks indicator BFP on 4 Nov so I have to be a min of 7w4d today. To be measuring so far behind, with not even a hint of a baby - it has to be blighted ovum. I know medical professionals don't want to risk calling a MC too early and being wrong, so understand the wait to be 100% sure but it sucks. I'm actually more scared of the impending MC than sad at this point. MC is bad enough, having it over xmas feels even worse as it's my favourite time of year too. I feel it will only hit once it's all over I think.

Thank you for your kind words.

I was the same with the referral and I got a text yesterday just with an appontment date and time - no further info
that was at 6+2, 15 days after referral

@houwseevryweekend ahhhh I see on the measuring and dates. I know they can go through growth spells though and spurts so hopefully it could be that. But I also appreciate you will know in your gut the outcome and sometimes people trying to be positive just pisses you off. Have you got another scan booked?

i elected for surgical management last year for my MC as I didn’t want the trauma and pain of having to go through it physically, so that could be an option if you didn’t want that to deal with over Christmas if it did come to that.

have you many symptoms or not? Thinking of you. Xx
