@RosiePH oooffff that is a week of it!!!

For the talipes I haven't a clue if I'm doing the exercises right either. Left the GPs with a print out of 3 pictures and a vague idea but that's all. Think I'm going to request a physio referral for peace of mind.

We're just coming out of sickness in our house though ours was just bad headcolds. The sterimar baby nasal spray was unreal, as it was the only one I could find that allowed a continuous spray for a proper clean out. Plus vapour oils in the diffuser. I found the coughing he did to get the mucus up really unnerving though, and he was swallowing it rather than spitting out. 🙈

Don't feel bad about the antibodies - I'm not really convinced they make that much of a difference. My first caught every bug going, even EBF. Much better to have a settled tummy and a happy mama.

Also relate to the haemmorhoids sadly. 😅 I managed to avoid them the whole way through pregnancy and got caught rotten pushing out this giant baby and postpartum. Waiting to see a colorectal Dr to get them removed. 🙈

Really hope your Dr appt goes well, and fair play to you for looking after your health proactively.

@FuppinNora currently nap trapped with two kiddos in the car - happily with a mcflurry. Made me think of this thread!

@BeautyAndTheBump1 whoever called it witching hour instead of hours was a liar. 😭

@SpicyMoth every time I see your DS name I think how much I love love love it.

@WinsandSam had one of those days yesterday too when my husband was working late - caved and called my wonderful beautiful mother in law down to help with bed time. 🙈 It's funny because I was worried about privacy when we moved in next door and now we're the ones constantly annoying them. 😅 Felt like I was about to break otherwise so can't imagine making it to 10.30 alone.

@FuppinNora also have been doing the drive throughs and they're glorious. 😂 Still can't get both boys to sleep at the same time unless we're in the car so mcflurries are my special me time at the moment. And second that about leaving them down to grumble when you need too - this time round my rule is I eat first and it's been game changing for my mood.

Awh tysm!!
I've had really mixed responses to it honestly, my friends from down south back in England have been less on board with it than up in Scotland, its reassuring when someone says they love it! 🥰

On a side note, I know this should be the absolute last thing on my mind right now - but does anyone have any advice for being able to get some exercise in? My appearance is making me very teary, I don't even care about my body right now as I know that will take time, but Jesus christ my neck! I just don't have one anymore!
I swear to god, my chin just goes in a full diagonal down to my chest - I was hoping it was swelling or water but now my leg swelling is fone I'm fairly sure I'm just stuck with it now 😅

Everytime I put wee one down to do something for myself like exercise, eat, or have a shower I'll get about 10 minutes before he cries for boob again - when I say I'm sofa bound, I am literally sofa bound!

I don't think I've moved properly aside from roaming around Asda every Monday, food wise I'm having to have easy stuff which just... Isn't very healthy and overall I'm feeling like a full blown slug.

I know the early weeks and months will take time before you find a pattern rather than doing everything on demand, and I know of course weight loss will take time, but holy shit does making healthy choices feel impossible right now... 😫😫

lemonsherbert86 · 24/10/2024 14:04

Hi everyone,
I don't think I've actually posted since the first thread but have been checking in every now and then.
Finding this thread very comforting to know it's not just me struggling with the newborn phase!
My DD is 5 weeks now and has been suffering terribly with reflux. I just feel like she is constantly spitting up - during feeds, straight after and up to 2 hrs after and then it's time for the next feed 🙈🙈
She is EBF and is in a fair bit of discomfort with it. Day time isn't too bad becasue I can keep her upright in her sling but night time is tough. She won't go down til about 11pm then wakes about 2am. From there we can be awake for up to 4hrs. No matter how long I burp her for or keep her upright, as soon as I put her back in her cot she may sleep for about 10 mins then starts grunting in pain and then the spit up happens and she's awake crying again.
Anyone else experiencing bad reflux?
I'm trying to make a GP appt and considering seeing an osteopath to see if it helps x

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 24/10/2024 14:58

@SpicyMoth also worried about exercise and getting back to it. My PGP is unfortunately still lingering so I can't even go for walks longer than 30-40 minutes without pain.

Last night, I handed my screaming baby to DH and went to the kitchen and stood in the dark eating jam biscuits while listening to baby scream and staring at the floor. So no chance of a diet yet 😂

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 24/10/2024 15:03

@RosiePH oh yeah the haemorrhoids are also a thing for me too since my c section ...all the sitting down I guess?

Good luck with your appointment, I'm sorry you have to deal with that right now, that's a lot.

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 24/10/2024 15:06

@RosiePH I just remembered that my mum had a breast cancer scare after she had me. It turned out that the changes in her breasts were due to post partum hormones changes and she was fine. So try and stay positive until you know more. Absolutely get it checked but take it one step at a time.

I relate to this so SO much, im still getting painful clicking in my hips and pelvis turning in bed and my joints are murder, I'm dreading going for a walk!
For me its dark choccy digestives though 😅😅😅

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 24/10/2024 17:48

@lemonsherbert86 reflux is frustrating, my baby has it too but not quite as badly. Especially with breastfeeding, I can't just breastfeed lying down or anything and we have to hold him up for ages. And then he'll still choke on sick an hour later sometimes. I cut out dairy 3 days ago and it seems to have helped but it may just be luck. I'll continue for another few weeks. You're meant to do it under doctor advisement but I couldn't get a dr appointment for another 2 weeks and baby was too distressed so I needed to try something.

kc92 · 24/10/2024 18:45

@spicymoth I wish we made it my son's middle name actually! We're constantly calling him Noah Bear but named him after an uncle instead. Too late to change it though.

It's still really early days in relation to looks but for healthy food, the slow cooker gives me life. Pop a meal on in the morning, usually before my DH escapes for work, and it does us dinner and lunch the next day. Think the biggest difference for healthy eating this time round has been having a toddler. I have to feed him even if the baby is screaming so by default I'm making time for full meals and it's made a big difference to how I feel. I'm still guilty of having a McDonald's lunch and inhaling 3 (soon to be 4) giant cookies though.

Really looking forward to trying to go back to the gym this weekend! Going to chance leaving a bottle and sticking the haaka in the car. I was overweight even before pregnancy tbh, size 14 and 5'4, but I was semi toned and really happy with my shape. Can't wait to put muscle back on.

@lemonsherbert86 osteopaths are meant to be brilliant - everyone I know who's been has raved about it. Biggest regret is I didn't take my first to one after a traumatic birth. 🙈 Have you seen a lactation consultant about the reflux? They're brilliant to examine if there's any feeding causes contributing to it. Hope it gets better for you soon - sleep deprivation to that level is an absolute nightmare. 🫠

lemonsherbert86 · 24/10/2024 20:10

Thanks @HuggingAnIcePack887!
I don't eat much dairy tbh but will try that from tomorrow to see if it helps.
It's tough isn't it - seeing them in pain but also how relentless it is on top of the usual exhaustion in the newborn phase! 🫠🫠

That's good to hear @kc92. I have now booked an appt with an osteopath but can't get in until next Fri. I'm hoping for a miracle! 🤞🤞
I haven't seen a lactation so consultant but did wonder about that too. I always thought if there was no pain then the patch must be ok but maybe that's not the case. One of the midwives does a breastfeeding group every Tuesday so I'm thinking of going next week to see what she thinks. She might be able to refer me if she thinks there's a problem.

Hoping for a better night tonight! I'm dreading it already 🙈🙈

WinsandSam · 24/10/2024 20:42

@FuppinNora in a way I hope the thrush is causing it as I feel sorry for her being so unsettled all the time.
Sounds like your little one is doing well and making lots of progress. Good work you guys.

@TripleESept24 oh yes I remember you posting about it. Ruby spits the medication straight out so I'm not sure it'll help in anyway.

@HuggingAnIcePack887 I'm sorry it's been so tough for you. I feel your pain after 6hrs of it last night and getting frustrated and upset 😭 it's so overstimulating

@Decaffe I thought you had to wait 6 weeks for insurance purposes. But I drove today for the first time and it was fine. The lifting of the car seat and buggy is a killer though after so long not exercising

@RosiePH you've got a hell of a lot on your plate. Must be feeling really overwhelmed, I hope everything goes well at your gp appointment. Re haemorrhoids- I didn't have them in pregnancy but came out of my c section with one, no idea why or what they did 😂

@SpicyMoth I out baby in a carrier or sling and go for long walks. It's the only exercise I can get and it sends her to sleep so I get some peace and a podcast on 🎉

kc92 · 24/10/2024 21:45

@lemonsherbert86 I saw lactation consultants for both my boys & found them to be angels. Second time around I didn't have a deep enough latch and he was getting too much air - very gassy as a result! First time around he was getting too much foremilk and lactose - mucus poos and lots of reflux. 🙈

Also have sundown scariest at the.moment - we had visitors this evening so we're late putting the toddler to bed and baby is currently witching at me from the sling as I pace the kitchen. 🫠 Have stress eaten 5 giant cookies so far today.

lemonsherbert86 · 25/10/2024 03:48

@kc92 I didn't know that about foremilk - that could be my problem too. Hopefully I will get some answers in the next week or so.

Hope you finally got some sleep! I've been up for the last 45 mins with mine! She's fed and is just lying on me wide awake now!
Hoping it's not another 4hr job like last night 🙈🙈

WinsandSam · 25/10/2024 05:11

@kc92 @lemonsherbert86 did the babies fall to sleep??

Mine has also been witching. 6hrs Wednesday night but down to 3hr last night! And got her in her cot rather than the bed 🎉

kc92 · 25/10/2024 06:05

@WinsandSam He had his best night yet!! I went to sleep at 10, and left him pacing the kitchen with his dad. He was dropped up to his crib at half 11, woke for a feed at 2am, and then slept until just now.

Ironically I had a terrible night sleep - too much sugar kept me awake half the night. 😭 Will teach me to binge biscuits before bed.

And congrats on the crib sleep 🎉 think all the witching going on is a developmental leap for our September babies?

WinsandSam · 25/10/2024 08:00

@kc92 yay! Well done you guys. That's the thing, when they sleep well, we don't. Typical. Ruby also did well- 11-1:45, then fed and back down until 5 for another quick feed and is still asleep now (farting away.) 😂

FuppinNora · 25/10/2024 09:10

@RosiePH Wow you are really in the midst of it, I hope things ease and baby doesn't get too sick.

I've tried starting eating healthy the last 5 days - my baby 8.5 weeks so I'm a bit ahead of ye - as all I've been doing is eating chocolate digestives and not just 1 or 2 at a time. I have failed every day! It is like when I was on night shifts looking for that sugar kick because feel crap with little sleep. Not going on any mad health kick but I really need to tone it down. That being said, I never thought of getting a McFlurry @kc92 so it will have to be done today! I've also whipped out the slow cooker and it has been great but I'm not always prepared takingnstuff out of freezer night before etc. Exercise for me is literally going for small walks, I was never big into exercise anyway.

@WinsAndSam Great you are back driving, it will make all the difference to feeling trapped.

This week he is starting to go 3.5 hours between feeds which helps, still only catnap during day in buggy but has a midday contact nap for about 2 hours and I have a little doze too so we are all in good form at 4pm!

Hope all the witchy witchings calm down, now we just have to contend with the clocks going back at the weekend, just as I had some loose routine going.

lemonsherbert86 · 25/10/2024 11:01

@WinsandSam @kc92 there must have been something in the water yesterday because Edie also had her best night!
10pm-3am (couldn't believe it!)
We were then up until 4:30am but not complaining too much as she then slept until 8am 🎉
After less than 3hrs total the previous night I feel like a new woman today!
Probably be back to 3hrs tonight but I'll take what I can when I can 🤣

That good you got her in the cot @WinsandSam. I sleep much better when she in her cot rather than in with me but sometimes she just wont settle into her cot no after what I do.

Got my GP appt for her reflux this afternoon 🤞🤞

FuppinNora · 25/10/2024 11:58

Oh my God!!! 5 hours, you lucky duck! Very jealous @lemonsherbert86

lemonsherbert86 · 25/10/2024 13:27

It's definitely a one of @FuppinNora !!
Never happened before and don't expect it to happen again soon 🤣
I think it was good karma to make up for the previous few nights which lefts on my knees!

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 25/10/2024 14:41

@lemonsherbert86 @FuppinNora my baby is 8.5 weeks and has been doing 5 hours, sometimes 6, solidly every night. Tbh DH and I were much better rested when he slept two 3.5-4 hour chunks. As he fusses, cries and cluster feeds until 11-12 (so no chance for me to even have a 30 min nap at all) and then wakes up like clockwork at 5am. But by the time I have fed him etc and he's ready to go to sleep again it's 7am and i can't go back to sleep at 7am!....so I'm actually getting less sleep, god help me.

FuppinNora · 25/10/2024 18:54

@HuggingAnIcePack887 maybe we should be careful what we wish for so! I remember when it dawned on me about 1 week in, even though he was going every 3 hours I was probably only getting 1.5 / 2hrs by the time he fed and I went back. That devastated me 😂

lemonsherbert86 · 25/10/2024 19:37

Oh yeah that does sound tough actually @HuggingAnIcePack887
Is there a reason you can't go to sleep again at 7am?
I used to do that with my first. We'd get up at about 9-10am.

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 25/10/2024 20:13

@lemonsherbert86 just can't. It's light outside, I've been up for 2 hours breastfeeding, burping, nappy changing, I'm just awake awake. I might doze off for 20 minutes IF baby takes a long nap but sometimes he only sleeps for 90 minutes and wants a feed again so by the time I'm sleepy, he isn't 😂

PinkWatermelon88 · 25/10/2024 22:05

Im back pals. What a week, it’s been horrendous. We buried mam yesterday. It was the saddest day of my life. She was my first love, I’m broken without her. Our small lady is 5 weeks since yesterday and I think we’ve entered into colic zone. She just doesn’t stop screaming from 8-1/2 in the morning. We are just wrecked. Postpartum grief is horrendous. Postpartum grief with colic is a new level. This is hard 💔🙈😭
