My mam passed this morning, peacefully. Her pain and suffering is now over. She was robbed of time with her newest grand daughter but I will do all in my power to ensure the love, joy, wisdom and nurture she showed me is passed on. I’ll look at the sky every day and see her looking back at us, I’ll sit with her in the quiet and know shes with us. There’s no way she can leave when our souls are bonded, I just have to get used to seeing her in another place; all around us. ❤️🕊️✨

FuppinNora · 20/10/2024 14:13

@PinkWatermelon88 so sorry to read this news. Look after yourself ❤ your little girl has an angel protecting her now

kc92 · 20/10/2024 14:34

@WinsandSam wow 400 is a lot!! Id never keep up. I'm just nosy and want to see how cute everyone's baby's are. 😂

@PinkWatermelon88 I'm so so sorry to hear that. It sounds like she's going to live on in the love you show for your own daughters, everything she demonstrated for you will be passed down to them in the most beautiful legacy. 🩷 🕊️

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 20/10/2024 14:57

@PinkWatermelon88 I'm so sorry for your loss, that's incredibly hard ❤

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 20/10/2024 15:36

Maybe I can offer a glimmer of hope to everyone. My baby is 8 weeks today and, after 2 weeks of colic, and after a solid 3 hour crying session last night, he slept 6 hours 30 minutes. We did not sleep that long as we were obviously just staring at him waiting for him to wake up 😂

WinsandSam · 20/10/2024 18:14

@FuppinNora I'd be up for a smaller WhatsApp group if others are too?

@PinkWatermelon88 I'm so sorry for the loss of you mam. I can't imagine how you are feeling right now 😢 I'm sure no words will help right now but know we are all here and thinking of you. Let your new baby offer you some comfort and like you say, mums memory will live on in her and you 💕

@HuggingAnIcePack887 woah! That's an achievement. Good work you guys, hope it wasn't trickery 😂

TripleESept24 · 20/10/2024 20:43

@PinkWatermelon88 sorry to hear about the loss of your mum 💔🩷

I joined the WhatsApp group and left the very next day the amount of messages was insane I was never reading all of that!

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 20/10/2024 22:36

@PinkWatermelon88 so sorry for your loss 🥺💕

@TripleESept24 we boil the kettle and put it into a flask. And also use a nuby rapid cool and fill that up. Then throughout the night use the boiling water in flask for the hot shot and fill the remainder with the cooled boiled water from the nuby rapid cool. So quick and fresh bottles every time and they last through the night :)

My girl is 4 weeks old tomorrow and the witching hour is witching 😫 or should I say hourssssss! She had been fussy from 7-10 then going down to bed, but some nights it's been up until midnight. Friday night she did fantastic and only woke up once during the night...last night?! Completely different story. Would not stop crying from 8pm - 2am. Had an unsettled nap from 2 until 3:45 then woke for a feed and after that feed she finally settled and slept until 7:45.
I'm currently sat in bed feeding her, praying to the gods that she'll stop fussing and go to sleep properly soon cus this mummy bear is tirrrrrred!

TripleESept24 · 20/10/2024 23:04

@BeautyAndTheBump1 I've bought a nuby rapid cool...... Partner is just doing them fresh still but I'm gonna give the rapid cool a go!

SpicyMoth · 21/10/2024 12:35

Tysm for the new thread @luckyfaith !!

Apologies for not checking in sooner, I don't get on with the MN app and I'm fully sofa bound with how much Bear's feeding at the minute!

Catching up as much as I can, and it's so so reassuring to see we're all struggling the the same things here and there!
This group of ladies has honestly been SO life saving for me, thanks to absolutely everyone here <3

WinsandSam · 21/10/2024 14:53

Todays tough! Partner back to work fully now and won't be home until 10:30pm. Ruby is having a tough day and crying when awake 😢 won't be put down. Went for a 45min stomp with her in the sling to get some peace and for my sanity. I've had lots of tears today, sure it's just the change and being alone.

How are you all surviving alone with Velcro babies??

FuppinNora · 21/10/2024 17:15

@WinsAndSam sorry to hear you are having tough day. It is so hard when they are just stuck to you. Things that made it slightly easier for me was getting out with buggy to give arms a rest, throw on any old clothes, don't bother washing just get out. Sometimes I went for drive with a podcast and DS would nap in car. I also have done mcdonalds drive thru with baby sleeping, ot was a little bit of heaven lunch and a hot coffee.
Also leave everything else, someone told me that think of it as your job - sitting with them and feeding basically. It somehow made it easier to let the housework go.
Have quick snacks/lunch that you can grab and bring to sofa with you.
Also it is ok to leave them down and let them cry/grumble - I didn't do that for the 1st few weeks.
I know it feels relentless and frustrating right now but it will pass.

kc92 · 21/10/2024 18:15

@BeautyAndTheBump1 whoever called it witching hour instead of hours was a liar. 😭

@SpicyMoth every time I see your DS name I think how much I love love love it.

@WinsandSam had one of those days yesterday too when my husband was working late - caved and called my wonderful beautiful mother in law down to help with bed time. 🙈 It's funny because I was worried about privacy when we moved in next door and now we're the ones constantly annoying them. 😅 Felt like I was about to break otherwise so can't imagine making it to 10.30 alone.

@FuppinNora also have been doing the drive throughs and they're glorious. 😂 Still can't get both boys to sleep at the same time unless we're in the car so mcflurries are my special me time at the moment. And second that about leaving them down to grumble when you need too - this time round my rule is I eat first and it's been game changing for my mood.

WinsandSam · 21/10/2024 20:06

@FuppinNora thanks! I think I also feel a bit trapped as can't drive yet, 2 weeks to go. Had c section so no lifting etc yet. Will be easier once I can do more

I have heard about seeing it as a job and that's really helpful. I'm usually active and busy. Not one to just sit on the sofa so it's a tough transition.

Need to be more organised with getting drinks/snacks ready.

Have so ordered a sling type thing that I can use in the house rather than a carrier. She loves her carriers and will be asleep in 2 mins in it 🙌🏻 trying to get used to putting her down even to go to the loo etc. not nice to hear them cry

@kc92 that's amazing having them so close.. I have very supportive family who are all within 45 mins drive and will be over in a flash if I asked them. Luckily have people over rest of the week.

Don't think this crappy weather helps. Wish we were going into spring!

Sterilise it every time in Milton cold water (lid too) if you add the formula to the Nuby. If you only add the boiling water for a hot shot method then just sterilise it every day or so.

I bought Milton tablets today! So you don't have to add the formula you can just do the water!? Is it not hot enough to then add the powder to in the bottle though?

There’s a ‘hot shot’ method where you add a bit of boiling water straight to the bottle with the formula and then top the bottle up with cooled water from the Nuby to bring it to the right temperature for the baby to have. I haven’t tried that method though.

When I couldn’t breastfeed and had to switch to formula, we just sterilised the Nuby after every use because we added formula to it direct. You can only use it once every 3 hours so we bought 2.

Now we’ve found my baby has CMPA so we’re on a prescription formula which is prepared differently and we only need to use cooled boiled water. So we make that via the Nuby and as it’s only getting used for boiling water we now just sterilise it once every 1 or 2 days.

Just checking in with you and seeing how the week is going for you. Since Monday we've had a much better week and managed to get out for some nice walks and coffees so life has felt a little bit more normal. She still gets quite unsettled and I'm not sure what the reason is.

We took Ruby to the doctors this morning as since she's been born she's had a very white tongue which I presumed was milk tongue. However turns out she's got thrush in her mouth and has been prescribed medicine and four times a day which is fun because she just spits it out , I've also been given cream for my nipples even though I have no symptoms. Maybe this is something that's making her unsettled in the day and night.

FuppinNora · 24/10/2024 00:33

@kc92😂 who knew I'd find McDonalds luxurious, the first time I thought of it I thought I was so clever.

@WinsAndSam sounds like you are getting into the swing of it. Maybe the thrush has been making her unsettled?
Not too bad a week, getting him down for naps in morning on his own in buggy, they are only catnnaps. He seems to prefer being upright in the pushchair than lying in carrycot. He is also playing on his playmat rather than just lying there now and lots of cooing and smiles. Still has contact naps in afternoon and loses his shit if the car stops for even a minute. Had a bad night with him the other night, I think I saw every half hour for the first half.

Someone in the coffee shop asked me how old he was today and it was the first time I didn't answer in weeks, I said 2 months 😭 it really does fly and while I miss him being small I'm not sure I miss being in the thick of it!

Hope everyone is doing OK.

Esme had thrush in the mouth and the Nystatin for a week. It looked like it cleared a lot ...... Then HV said it looked like it was still there and prescribed another one. Having to do it four times a day, after feeds, and then they can't feed straight after. I had no symptoms either and did the cream. Someone else on here said they were prescribed it 3 times and then gave up and it cleared. I don't think it's what was bothering Esme at all ......

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 24/10/2024 04:43

My baby has just been screaming and cluster feeding for the last 4 hours (it's evening time where I live). How do I wind down??? I'm shaking with tiredness and overstimulation.

I can't have a glass of wine, baby might wake up any minute and I'm so tired, wine will make it worse anyway. Seriously, how do I calm down from this??? I'm mindlessly scrolling Instagram and the Daily Mail gossip section. I hate both of them. I just can't actually read anything so thought something mindless will do it. It's not doing it. I am sitting in bed not knowing what to do with myself 😩 and obviously on a time limit, the later I go to sleep, the less sleep I get.

kc92 · 24/10/2024 05:37

@HuggingAnIcePack887 that sounds so so rough!! Hot shower with a bit of lavender essential oil dropped in the drain to make it smell nice is my go too. Or lying in bed and concentrating on relaxing one part of your body at a time is a good trick. Hope you're able to get some sleep before the next wake up. 🤞🏻

@FuppinNora I keep saying I'm going to go on a postpartum health kick, and just keep ending up back there for my sanity. 😂

@WinsandSam good catch on the thrush! And lovely to hear your week is going well.

Has anyone had experience of positional talipes? We had our 6 week GP visit yesterday and the DR spotted my boy's feet turn in a little. I hadn't noticed myself and it hadn't been spotted in any of his earlier checks. We have exercises to do at home but I've never heard of it before or know anyone who had it.

Decaffe · 24/10/2024 08:51

@WinsandSam why can’t you drive for two weeks? You can drive again as soon as you feel able. Has the GP said it’ll take another two weeks? Also, please share what sling you’ve bought and how you’ve got on with it 😊

RosiePH · 24/10/2024 09:52

@kc92 my little boy has the talipes thing! I need to watch a YouTube video on the exercises actually as I can’t work out how to do them from the (badly written) leaflet we were given when we left hospital. And the HV and midwives didn’t know how to do them either.

Here for a handhold this morning! DH is a primary school teacher and bought us home a lovely bout of Covid! He came down with it on Friday and despite us detol-ing the entire house everyday, I succumbed yesterday and this morning I think 5 week old DS has too! I feel dreadful, and poor baby is snotty and sicked up mucus this morning. I feel awful that he’s got it too. I had so many issues breastfeeding and he has CMPA, so he’s EFF and won’t get any antibodies from me which makes me feel even more awful!

To top it all off, the haemorrhoids returned this week (I even had a c-section so feels extra unfair that I’ve been struggling with them since the birth!), my period came back yesterday and I need to be well enough to attend a face to face doctors appointment on Saturday as one of my nipples has started inverting and the midwives said this wasn’t a normal reaction to pumping. Really quite nervous about this now as my maternal grandmother died of breast cancer in her early thirties, after developing it in pregnancy. I’m 32.

It’s all quite a lot!
