We had our gender reveal yesterday evening and were Team Boy! 🩵

Congratulations!! 💙

Anyone else feeling just a tad irritable? I'm so easily annoyed at the moment and I can't stop it even though I can tell it is me 🙈

Yep not in general but work is making me particularly irritable the number of times I've felt like saying "I really don't give a shit about this" to something I'm tasked with is not good 😂 I'm counting down the weeks I think, I know maternity will obviously be anything but a rest but I feel like I've checked out and have no motivation especially as I'm expected in the office no wfh

20 week scan tomorrow, DH is reading a book and it sounds pretty intense and I know it's the "big" one in terms of checking all as OK as they can tell, it looked OK at the private one but feels another hurdle that needs to be safely cleared

I got on tne scales yesterday to weigh the cat, and was surprised my weight hasn't really changed, even though aside from work I've spent most of it lying on the sofa or in bed! I was rather plump beforehand so that may be why.

Congratulations! 🩵 I found finding out the gender made things feel so much more real! Also confusing as I was convinced she was a he 🙈

🙋🏼‍♀️ me! Poor DH doesn’t know how many times I have cussed at him in my head the last few days, particularly, for all sorts of crimes, leaving a teaspoon on the sideboard, not filling the dogs bowl ‘right’, leaving his boots a fraction too far to the right meaning the porch door catches them, breathing, existing, y’know that sort of thing. I’m okay at keeping a lid on it before I actually bellow at him tho 😂

RaineyNina · 28/10/2024 22:19

@ChristmasJumpers yeah I'm in the irritable club! Really got to bite my tongue at the moment 😬

20 week scan in a few days and feeling really nervous about it

26dX · 29/10/2024 08:11

Had our 20 week scan and I have to go back because she was covering her face the whole time so they couldn't check lips 😂 after a walk and dancing like a twat HAHA oh well another chance to see her x

Lulub94 · 29/10/2024 08:20

Had my 20 week scan last week and am team boy!
Having already got a boy I'm trying to work out how best to deal with the 'its ok you can try again for a girl' which was one of the first things the consultant said to me at the scan.
I'm honestly not bothered about it being another boy and I can't see us having a third, having lost the month before this pregnancy I'm genuinely just happy that baby is healthy and that everything is looking well.

Call them out on it, I have. I am having my second boy and final baby. I can't do this again. I just want a healthy full term baby. My house will be full of wrestling, jumping, running and fun and that will make me so happy. 2 boys is going to be challenging I'm sure but so much fun! Someone said it to be the other day and I replied with ' why would you say that?' They became awkward and just hadn't thought before saying anything but it shut them up. I don't know why people think it's ok to suggest having just one sex isn't enough for you, it's your life and decision and choices. It really annoys me and I don't keep it to myself anymore 😂

I have been tempted to say something like 'well I don't think that's any of your business', especially when it was the nurse doing my covid jab on Saturday who made the comment about being able to try again for a girl.

Yes I'm actually really excited about having 2 boys, I'm sure it wont always be easy but then everyone tells girls can be hard work too!

Gah had 20 week scan but have to go back as apparently he was wriggling too much to fully check the heart although they did see it enough to see there were 4 chambers, think also they didn't see the full face properly

What they did see looked OK but of course it's the worry that there's things that couldn't be fully checked to ensure all ok

It felt really rushed we were in there about 45 minutes didn't get sent out for a bit to hope he settled or anything

What are people's thoughts on the RSV vaccine? It feels very new to me which is a worry, had whooping cough today as they were doing a clinic which was really convenient. I'm thinking I'll probably have it as I'd regret not if he became poorly from something it could have prevented?@

Absolutely getting it done! I can’t imagine not protecting my baby - I also have a toddler and am a solo parent so it would be incredibly traumatic for her if I ended up having to spend days away from her in hospital. The thought of hurting both my babies is just too much (especially with a heavy dose of hormones in play!)

lipgoss · 29/10/2024 12:45

@PlumpHobbit I'm 100% intending to have it too - have heard too many horror stories about RSV and also didn't realise until recently that Bronchiolitis (which I've also been aware of quite a few babies suffering with, and recurrently too) often also comes from the RSV virus, so am keen to do whatever I can to avoid.
In terms of it being new, I've heard that it's not actually super new in itself, just to the UK using it, but has been offered in other countries for a little while already. I admit I haven't looked into that claim any further, as I never had any doubt about it to begin with so haven't done any further reading beyond the leaflet the midwife gave me, but might reassure you if you found some more info.
There's definitely a couple of threads on here about it already, which have a bit more info/stories from people.

Thank you everyone.

This will be our third boy, as OH has two wonderful boys from his first marriage (8 and 12). As it's taken us 5 years to make this little one, I would genuinely have been thrilled either way, but I know that the kids were hoping for a little sister.

They've already warmed to having another wrestling buddy, although the youngest is gutted that he's going to be the "middle child". No amount of explaining that he still would be if baby was a girl has helped 😂

Had my covid and flu vaccines today, whooping cough booked for next clinic... Not been offered RSV though, nor has midwife mentioned it. Is this something I would need to ask for specifically? Guidance appreciated 😇

I got a text from my GP- I think they do RSV clinics (like they do for Covid/flu) because I only had one day choice when I went to book… however it was before I’m 28 weeks so they said they’d just make an appointment at that point!

IMBCRound2 · 29/10/2024 17:54

20 week scan tomorrow . The wobbles are hitting - just got to keep hoping for a healthy baby. I’m always really hoping for a home birth and baby will have to be above the 20th percentile ….

bouncingblob · 30/10/2024 08:21

Got my flu vaccine and whooping cough vaccine at the GPs.

Hospital told me they offered COVID as well.

GP told me they don't and to go to the hospital for it.

Hospital said they didn't and to go back to the GP.

Honestly the communication has been appalling.

IMBCRound2 · 30/10/2024 11:49

baby was happy and wiggly on my scan -
measuring right on track! Feel like I can breathe (literally ! I’ve been hiding my pregnancy until I got the good news!)

Hey, how is everyone getting on x

ChristmasJumpers · 04/11/2024 09:51

@26dX hi! It's been so quiet on here lately.
I'm now 24 weeks and sat in the hospital for my second gestational diabetes test (they seem determined I'll have it after I did in my last pregnancy!)
Baby kicking away and loving life after the glucose drink 😂
How are you?

26dX · 04/11/2024 10:11

@ChristmasJumpers hey, ah I think the sickness is just passing at 22 weeks 😂 finally!! I have to have the test at 28weeks, didn't have it with my first but due to my BMI being over by 1 🫠 how is it? Dreading it incase it just comes back up haha! At least they're keeping an eye on you x

The drink really isn't that bad. Very sickly and you have 5 mins to drink it all, but extra sugary stuff doesn't bother me. It's the fasting from midnight until it's done that's hard! Hopefully you'll come out of it unscathed 🤞

26dX · 04/11/2024 10:21

@ChristmasJumpers hoping it's not too bad then! I can't do much if it comes up, will pre warn them 😂 hope all is ok xx

IMBCRound2 · 04/11/2024 10:56

I had to have it in my first pregnancy (didn’t realize you weren’t supposed to eat before the urine tests at the midwife so would always have a delicious snack while I was waiting 🤦‍♀️ but since it was consistently high still had to do it!) The fasting was definitely the worst bit -
while I was waiting there were so many women sneaking snacks in when we were supposed to be fasting- I was just hungry and shooting daggers at them while they snuck food out of their handbag ….
