Hi guys.. Just saw the old thread is full so thought I'd make a new one :)

OP posts:

Just had my 20 week scan this morning, and everything is looking great with little baby! 🤗Still managed to keep the sex a surprise, and glad to see them jumping around, even though I've not felt any movements at all yet.

She said my placenta is a touch low lying, but only by a couple of millimetres out of what is 'acceptable' so she's confident it'll move up to where it needs to be in plenty time as I grow, but it does mean I'll get another scan at 30 weeks to check it - absolutely no complaints about a bonus one from me, and for the time being I'm not worried about it at all 😊

veggiebuns · 15/10/2024 10:32

@bouncingblob That seems very unlikely! In England the midwives appointments become MORE frequent in the 2nd half of the pregnancy.

I would really recommend contacting your midwife and checking with them!

Had a successful 20 week scan today!

Only weird thing...the maternity unit said that was my last scan and last appointment until birth...surely that can't be right?

So I just have 18 weeks now essentially on my own with no more check ups until the waters break?

Did she just mean your last hospital appt rather than mwife appts full stop?

Does anyone have any advice for coping with a bad cold whilst pregnant? I’m on a cruise and managed to catch the cruise cold and feel pretty rough. As far as I’m aware the only thing I can take medication wise is paracetamol 🙁

ChristmasJumpers · 16/10/2024 17:45

@GlitteringCat I would love to know if I can have more than paracetamol too as my 18 month old has given us all an absolute stinker of a cold!!

IMBCRound2 · 16/10/2024 18:53

It’s awful isn’t it? I thought I was just having an adverse reaction to my Covid jab but turns out it’s some vicious infection - been given antibiotics and told nothing but them and paracetamol. If I’m not better in 48 hours being sent to hospital so they can keep an eye on baby….

Feeling like an awful mum to my little one just curled on the sofa and ordering takeaway. Nearly let her watch telly but just couldn’t face keeping up the inane commentary.

prizecow · 17/10/2024 12:03

Hi everyone NC now but was eatsleepwork etc

How are you all doing today? I am 19+6 and just feel like I'm already counting down the days until maternity leave starts, trying not to check out too much as still a few months to go! Also want to try and enjoy this time as not planning to have any more DC after this one but it's hard. I feel like pregnancy does just make me really daydreamy and zoned out a bit, find it hard to concentrate and that's not ideal with work! Anyone else get the same?

My 20 week scan is two weeks away and can't wait to find out if boy or girl. Are others finding out?

How are you feeling today?

thank you for checking in 🩷

Finally recovered enough to get my little on to nursery so I can have a day in bed! Feel like someone has switched my brain off …. But thankfully no longer think I’m looking at a hospital stay.

I have also now created a tiny foodie monster who knows what takeaway is 😂 she kept asking when the man with motorbike and food is coming …. constantly amazing to me how someone that small can put away that much food? Like how ? That pizza is literally bigger than you?

I’m hoping a day or two in bed and I can make up for the last few days of being a poorly grump and take her to the fair!

prizecow · 17/10/2024 15:42

@IMBCRound2 I'm glad you're getting a bit of rest, and that you don't need to go to hospital. Really hope the rest helps and continues to improve.

And don't worry about your toddler's diet, I feel like short term you just need to get through hard times however you can! DS4 also loves a takeaway and when I was very nauseous in the first trimester he ate quite a few of them!

veggiebuns · 18/10/2024 11:26

Am I feeling baby?

Morning! Hope we're all feeling well😊
I'm 17 weeks today, and the last couple days I've been feeling something that I "think" might be baby - it's my first so can't be sure!

It's super light but i wouldn't say it feels like gas bubbles, the only way i can describe it is it feels like jelly wobbling against the inside of my stomach, with the occasionally super gentle "tap"😂 It's definitely a new feeling that I've never felt before! Position wise it's on my right side, at a similar height to my belly button.

Has anyone had movements the feel like that? I've been waiting and praying to feel movements so I'm really hoping this is them🤞🏻

We find out the sex tomorrow too so feeling them and knowing the sex will really make me connect with them, start building out this little personality in my head haha xx

prizecow · 18/10/2024 11:40

Hi @veggiebuns from what you describe it does sound like baby. Sometimes I get a weird rolling/pressure sensation from inside too. Hello little one!

I'm 20 weeks today! Very jealous of you finding out sex tomorrow, I am waiting a week and a half for my hospital scan but I am counting the days! So excited to find out.

How are you feeling at the moment?

I really hope so! I guess if the same feeling continues/gets stronger I'll be more sure!

We decided to go for an early scan as I had heard the NHS don't like to write it down and I really wanted to find out privately just the two of us. I'm so awkward that I feel like I wouldn't appreciate the moment if i was just told by a random sonographer. So so excited, I've been counting the minutes all week😂

I'm actually feeling so good recently! Still a big fan of my post-work/pre-dinner nap but other than that, I'm finally feeling like human! Have quite a substantial bump now as well, especially considering it's my first! Feel like I'm entering the "good bit" haha

lipgoss · 18/10/2024 12:05

@veggiebuns it's so hard to know if it's movements, isn't it?! It does sound like yours might be though 🤗

I'm 20+3 now with my first and an anterior placenta, and have had a handful of feelings in the past couple of days that I think miiight be the baby... one that was a sort of pop and then a couple that were more like a kind of twitching. Half of me thinks if I'm noticing things I haven't before then it must be the baby, and half thinks it's probably still just my stomach gurgling and its wishful thinking, as I'm conscious with the anterior placenta it could still be a couple of weeks before I get much.

Doesn't help that I've really no idea what I'm feeling for!

IMBCRound2 · 18/10/2024 12:38

Thank you! Baby gave me a bit of a scare after a MASSIVE roll that you could literally see from the outside (didn’t know it was possible at 18 weeks since everything you read was all about flutters, bubbles and pops and all of a sudden an actual whole human rose out of my bump!! apparently it’s unusual but if you’re really skinny then it’s a thing even at this stage) then promptly didn’t move for the next day …. Thankfully my midwife is the best and got me in to listen on the Doppler and baby was just happily kicking the placenta instead of me

as she predicted- got in the car and had a good cry! Cuddled back up in bed and baby is now doing the can-can in there and I’m listening to the heartbeat on repeat .

yes - we’re usually pretty healthy eaters so I’m not worried about the diet part of it - more the start of the ‘mummmmmmmmm can we get a takeaway, mummmmm pleassssssse’

veggiebuns · 18/10/2024 12:52

@lipgoss I've decided that I'm going to allow myself to lean into it and put it down to baby!

Even if it's not, not hurting anyone by letting myself enjoy some digestion gurgles and calling them baby movements 😂

GlitteringCat · 19/10/2024 01:32

Apologies in advance I think I just need somewhere to have a moan! Came back from holiday tonight but flight was delayed significantly so missed my train home which was the last one of the day. I’m now stuck in a city 600 miles from home overnight and no hotels have any availability. No flights either so only option is a train at 6am and either sitting in a train station or airport until then. I’m just really frustrated and emotional. I’m 21 weeks pregnant and planned for that by booking an over night sleeper train and paying a tone of money for it. Now got the prospect of no sleep for 30 hrs (been up since 7am yesterday travelling) and loosing tones of money. I’m also stressing if this could cause any issues to the baby in any way being so tired and spending so much time travelling (left 13 hrs ago already). My bump hurts, my back hurts, my hips hurt and oh I have a raging virus I picked up on holiday. Luckily at least have my 20 weeks scan in a few days so can check she’s all okay. I’m now really stressing she’ll be hurt by all the stress 😞

prizecow · 19/10/2024 08:25

@GlitteringCat are you ok? Sounds like a horrific situation. I'm glad you have your scan in a few days for reassurance but I'm absolutely sure baby will be fine. Hope you're near home now and can get some rest x

RaineyNina · 19/10/2024 09:01

Sorry I've been silent for a while! So much sickness at work it's been so busy 😫 19 weeks now and I'm still waiting for a bump! I am slightly bigger but I feel like I've been the same size for weeks now. Makes me feel so paranoid. Because I'm petite (4'10 and size 8) I just so expected to be bigger by now even with a nice little rounded bump. Another 2 weeks till my next scan ...

IMBCRound2 · 19/10/2024 09:06

hope you’re safely home tucked up with a cup of tea !

The stress won’t hurt her - it’s a temporary blip… During my last pregnancy, I had a life -altering relationship breakdown in the middle of a house move during Covid ( he had a severe mental health breakdown and pissed off to a warzone )- I was beside myself, but my midwife was very reassuring about the odds of this impacting the pregnancy. I’m hoping by now you’ve got your feet up and it’s all melting away. (Also, for an epi-genetics standpoint, girls are much more resilient!)

(on a practical level, will insurance cover it and take away some of the financial stress?)

Yeah. Just shattered. Managed about an hour’s sleep so far on the train 😴 obviously the train I booked got cancelled! So got an extra 2 hours sat in some train station waiting for the next. Still got another 7-8 hours till I get home so hoping I can force a bit more sleep but I’m rubbish sleeping on planes, trains etc.

I think I just started panicking a bit that not sleeping 30 odd hours, so much travelling etc could hurt her. Had this stupid virus about a week now so had been panicking if that could hurt her too but she’s luckily been kicking away every day (including occasionally whilst I was sat at the train station lol). I’m at the point now that I’m considering taking time off sick on Monday even though I’ve been off 2 and half weeks but between this and the virus I feel really rough.

Going to look at it tomorrow but don’t think I’ll get anything back from insurance annoyingly. On plus my cancelled train ticket was refunded easily 😅 or that’d be another £250 lost

Anyone else still vomiting? 20 weeks now, Not everyday but could be morning / evening or both 🫠

veggiebuns · 20/10/2024 20:14

Hey!

Quick update after our private scan this weekend - we're having a little girl 🩷🥰
We honestly couldn't be happier!

As well as the scan we've had a busy weekend of baby shopping/pram testing etc and this evening my back, hips and feet are in bits! Really starting to feel the effects of everything moving around. Hopefully it eases up or I at least get used to it, because right now I'm stiff as a board after being on my feet all day😂

Congratulations! Welcome to club girl 🥰
I am struggling physically too. My bump is huge and so heavy. Back ache and pelvic pain are in full force from the slightest bit of activity!!

Muffin101 · 21/10/2024 10:11

Hey managed to miss this thread 🤦🏼‍♀️ thought the other had gone quiet 😂 so lovely to hear how excited others are getting about finding out whether they’re having a boy or a girl 😊 I have to say, I’m still on the fence about finding out. We didn’t last time, and it was nice being told there and then in the midst of the emotions and whatnot but I wonder whether this time it might be more sensible to find out beforehand, to help with DS getting his head around it? I have until Friday to decide 😂
