Had my 12 week scan today, put me 2 days ahead so 12+5 due 7th Feb! (My other two didn’t come till 40+ so I’m not holding my breath for an on time baby!). Such a relief to get to this stage, nausea has abated a bit.

I do have Covid though and it’s bloody miserable! The coughing has made me vomit a few times 😭

Wonderful news all round! So pleased for you all ☺️

I have my 12 week scan next Thursday - which is also my birthday 🥹
I am still torn wether I should get the NIPT done, I’m so anxious over this pregnancy anyway I think it may put my mind at rest a little 🫣

LilacSnail · 31/07/2024 21:39

@Mamma36474 congratulations!
@elb1504 fantastic news.

Those who had NIPT did you just get low risk in your results? X

LilacSnail · 31/07/2024 21:43

@OrangeSlices998 great news on your scan and new due date. Hope you are feeling better soon!

@Pepsix I got my NIPT results today. That’s a week after I had the test done. My 12 week scan is on Monday. So you would possibly have your scan before the results of the NIPT? Xx

Piluka · 01/08/2024 07:02

@LilacSnail if you don't mind me asking, who have you had your NIPT test with? I tried window to the womb and when I was fillip it up I had a message saying it recommends to leave 2 weeks between scans (in this case 12w scan and NIPT) so I couldn't get mine last week as I have my 12w tomorrow. I feel very anxious with the pregnancy and I think a NIPT would help. Thanks.

LilacSnail · 01/08/2024 11:47

@Piluka I had mine done at Window to the Womb. I’d booked an early scan with them at 8 weeks so I just booked the blood test without the scan at 11 weeks.

I also took an EPU scan report from when I was 10 weeks as I have experienced some bleeding. They were happy with that.

Have you had any early private scans? Xx

Hettycan · 01/08/2024 12:30

@LilacSnail I had NIPT done at window to the womb and it just came back low risk for all categories.

I'm 12 weeks today, still on holiday, so scan isn't until next week, honestly if I hadn't had the scans I wouldn't believe I'm 3 months pregnant, feel completely normal, no bump as of yet, only sign is occasional heaviness in my uterus or sometimes a sharp pain if I get up too fast or sneeze! Cannot wait to get the 12 week done and hopefully finally be able to tell family and relax a little

retrievermum · 01/08/2024 12:42

Got my screening results back today (scan was last Tuesday), low risk across the board (1 in 5000) which is good news!

@Mamma36474 congratulations!

I was high risk anyway due to my age. The doctor explained that the NIPT test puts a cap of x20 on how much your risk can be reduced, and mine went down by a factor of x20, the maximum reduction, to 1/400. The test is 99.9% accurate there were no chromosomal abnormalities for the three conditions. That's enough for me.

It is very expensive, but for me it is worth it to put my mind at rest somewhat. I worried throughout my first pregnancy. As it turned out my first-born is autistic and has high needs anyway, and nothing could have prepared me for that, so maybe it's all a bit futile anyway.

Piluka · 01/08/2024 13:19

@LilacSnail I had an early one when I was 6+6 or so because I was feeling a lot of pain in one side of my abdomen. They scanned to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. I could see it's heart beating very strongly and fast and I was told I was 5w. Apart from that I didn't know about the NIPT test i thought the 12w scan and the NIPT where exactly the same. When I started to know more about it I was at the end of the 10w and when I decided to go for one (window to the womb) I just entered to my 12 w and tomorrow is my NHS scan (I'd be 13w actually). So they recommend to leave 2 wks between scans so now it leaves me to have it at 15w. I wanted to do it to get rid of nightmares and terrifying thoughts but now there's nothing I can do. Let's see what they say tomorrow (if they disclose something) I have my family, my bosses and my partner's family very excited for some news tomorrow.

Would you think it worth having the NIPT after the 12w scan? I mean if it turns out I'm low risk?

KittyFantastica · 01/08/2024 13:29

For those who had NIPT with Window to the Womb, we booked the advanced one and I think it includes the sex if the baby, but we don't want to find out yet! Were the results for the sex mixed in with all the other results? Or were they separate? Cheers :)

LilacSnail · 01/08/2024 13:42

@KittyFantastica its one email but two separate reports. The first one is my results, the second is gender. I believe it’s password protected & the password is in the email. I haven’t tried to open the gender bit yet. x

Mamma36474 · 01/08/2024 13:58

Why is the advice to leave two weeks between UK ultrasound scans?

I just had a private detailed scan, but my NHS one is a few days later. Private doctor said it was very safe and no problem to have them close together.

Hettycan · 01/08/2024 14:07

@KittyFantastica we did the advanced one too and I asked for them to keep gender separate as we are not sure if we want to know yet - it was sent in a separate file and password protected - we could have asked for them not to send it at all though so you have the choice ☺️

KittyFantastica · 01/08/2024 14:10

Thanks so much @Hettycan and @LilacSnail this is great to know :)

Roxttc · 01/08/2024 15:35

I had NIPT advanced with window to the womb last Friday - to others that have also had this how long did it take for your results? They told me if they call it’s all good but if there are any concerns the actual test company will call so feel a bit on edge waiting for a call! They did say 7-10 days

QuantumPanic · 01/08/2024 16:13

Had my 12w scan today. 🙂 Measuring as 13w 3d - app (based on OPKs) has me as 13w 4d, so seems pretty conclusive. Due date is 3rd Feb. It was so lovely to see the baby kicking away and flailing its little arms. Feeling a lot happier/less anxious now. Think we're still going to go for the NIPT, just to have as much information as possible.

QuantumPanic · 01/08/2024 18:40

What did your baby's movements look like at the 12w scan? Saw some fluid arm and leg movements but there were also whole body spasmodic jerks, like the baby was hiccuping - I should have asked the sonographer if this was normal!

Mine was kicking for sure, but also did lots of ‘handstands’ and turns. The movements didn’t look too jerky-y, but they were definitely much faster than I expected. Sonographer said ‘baby’s very active’ 😅

Roxttc · 01/08/2024 21:11

My NIPT results came through right after I last posted, all low risk thankfully - we also know the gender 😊 Over the moon to say it’s a girl, was really hoping for a girl first (As an older sister myself!) but had become convinced I was having a boy even had a nickname for my ‘blump’ so was a surprise haha

I'm still waiting for my scan this time around but with my son the movements were definitely jerky, like he was jumping all over the screen !! The sonographer at the time said lots of movement was a healthy sign :-) xx

QuantumPanic · 01/08/2024 21:46

Thank you @Redapple21 !!

Hello everyone! For some reason I haven't been getting notifications about the thread but have just been happily catching up. So pleased to read about further low risk scans and NIPT results - and a couple more girls to add to the tally! (Yay @Roxttc and @Mamma36474)

@SBelfast So sorry to hear you've been messed around. Have you heard yet?

As for the question about babies' movements in scans, ours was asleep for the first half and then started doing all sorts of funny things including the 'hiccuping', so looks like all is good for you @QuantumPanic ☺️

Sending love to you all and hope everyone has a lovely weekend. I've been rather grumpy and exhausted with the heat down here in London, but am relieved it's going to cool down now. Otherwise, don't really feel very pregnant, which is weird. It feels as though, after all the action and anxiety of the first trimester, things are suddenly just ticking over... 😂 x

SBelfast · 02/08/2024 07:10

@UrbanSquirrel sorry to hear your suffering in the heat. My friend just arrived from London last night and I was complaining about the heat here (19 degrees) and she said it was lovely here compared to London 😂

I tried to get through earlier in week once...then a bunch of 'urgent' work got dumped on me, which to be honest I didn't mind in the end as its been a good distraction. I've my booking apt today. I'm hoping I get a scan with it but if I don't and they can't confirm when it will be I'll get another private one. The nurse and another person at Window to the womb during the week seemed confident id have a scan then. Its in a midwife unit in the hospital. Had my NIPT Tuesday and very anxiously awaiting results like others on here. Had a phone call from a random number yesterday and panicked but thankfully it was greenpeace lol. I also don't feel that pregnant despite some heaviness and sharp pains also.

I keep re-reading the part of my apt letter that says bring your own urine sample 😂 I'm going to do it just because I'm worried if I don't tell not be able to check something but all I've been able to find is a small glass bottle so that will be fun! Bizarre!

Congrats to all the ladies having wriggly babies and reassuring NIPT tests :)

UrbanSquirrel · 02/08/2024 07:46

@SBelfast Ooh good luck with the appointment today! Hope it goes well, and good luck with the wait for the NIPT results. Based on my own experience they should be back within a few days and I hope they're reassuring to you 🤗

I DREAM of 19 degrees! It's been over 30 here for the past three days and muggy to boot, but we've woken up to mist this morning, so I hope it isn't just lulling us into a false sense of security. 🥵

Oh God your story about the glass bottle reminds me of when I had cystitis. I'd been up all night in terrible pain and had been on the phone to 111 and managed to get an emergency appointment with the GP in the morning, but I had to take my own sample.
Literally the only plausible thing I had in the house was one of those small jam jars, so I had to turn up at the GP appointment with a jam jar full of terrifyingly blood-coloured urine. I've never seen a man look so horrified in my life 🤣 Got me straight onto antibiotics though...

The point is, whatever vessel you choose, they'll probably have seen stranger!
