@SBelfast Totally same boat! First pregnancy too so feeling nervous but hoping all goes well and it'll be good reassurance. I have cramps on and off but it's the nausea that's been hitting me hard but I keep reminding myself it's a good sign.

Same here, and good point! Good luck again :)

elb1504 · 26/06/2024 12:03

@SBelfast I've had a lot of cramps on and off this pregnancy which I don't remember from my last one but I think it's just everything stretching! I think as long as its not severe pain and bleeding it's just everything going on inside!

I had a scan yesterday at 8+2 and all was well.

Thank-you for sharing, it's reassuring to be able to speak to people in the same boat :)

alwayellie · 26/06/2024 16:24

Scan went great! Measured at 7 weeks 3 days which is exactly what I had thought. Strong heartbeat too so feeling positive!

SBelfast · 26/06/2024 16:24

@alwayellie that is great news :) hopefully can relax a little now.

Aw fantastic news @alwayellie that's wonderful! Glad everything was exactly as hoped 🤗

After the worst sickness yesterday I feel so much better today. Still a bit nauseous but more manageable than it's been since I got pregnant! After initially feeling very happy to feel better, can't start wondering if everything is ok 🤦‍♀️ such a stressful time! I know fluctuations are normal so I just need to talk some sense into myself. 12 weeks can't come soon enough (and 9 weeks for my private scan 😊!). How's everyone feeling today?

BabyDust13 · 26/06/2024 18:19

@alwayellie congratulations
I bet it was so exciting I'm so glad it went ok

UrbanSquirrel · 26/06/2024 18:24

@superj21 Ugh, the heat is not helping, is it?! I have to give a hour-long lecture in about half an hour and am feeling sticky, bloated and slightly queasy. Nowhere near the nausea that you brave troopers have been facing, but just enough to be irritating and distracting. Bring out the Polo mints 😂

@UrbanSquirrel oh god that sounds pretty hellish! I'm amazed that you're still functioning at this time, I've been basically going to bed after dinner! Fortunately / unfortunately we've not really been getting much of the heat that you guys have down south. Was still in my down jacket this morning when I took the dog for a walk!

Does anyone else suffer with sciatica? I've had it since early March, it gets better then gets worse then gets better, then worse. I can't drive or really sit down at the moment. Osteopath won't treat me in first trimester and said physio is unlikely to either even though I have an appointment with physio on Friday. Anyone else experienced this? I'm worried pregnancy will only make it worse. Being in pain all the time is very draining.

I've got back pain at the bottom of my back, I wonder if that's what it is. I keep thinking it's cramp but then when I put heat on my back I realize that's actually where the ache is. Don't remember it til a lot later last time!

somethingabouther · 26/06/2024 19:33

Thanks for the new thread!

Not sure if it’s the heat or the fatigue has finally kicked in but I feel exhausted tonight🥱

Going away on Saturday with a group of friends and worried about hiding my symptoms and the lack of drinking! They all know we were planning on trying later in the year so hoping I can bat off any questions that I’m just preparing for now!

we haven’t told anyone yet so I really don’t want to tell them until we’ve seen family face to face - wish me luck!

Shortcake06 · 26/06/2024 20:00

Thank you for making a new thread 💕

@WildFinch i also suffer with sciatica. I’ve had it on and off for years. When it flares I do stretches, keep moving and avoid any lifting etc that could aggravate it. I also get co-codamol from the GP to get me through. So I feel your pain but have no advice because I’ll be in the same position if it flares up 🙈

Today I am 5+3. Does anyone else feel the weeks are just dragging? It’s still SO early. I have had some proper nausea hit me today but I’m abroad on holiday so trying to power through!

Thanks for replying @Shortcake06 I've had it since early March now, I can't even drive at the moment. Really hoping it eases soon.
I'm 6w+5 and totally feel the same about the days dragging. I've got an early scan at EPU next week because I've had a lot of spotting so really trying to be patient waiting for that.
Hope everyone is coping in this heat! Fruit pastel ice lollies are the dream!

What's peoples opinions on zero % alcohol pregnant? Having a gathering with partners parents and wanted to join in my own style!🤣 haven't seen any actual 0.0% yet which makes me weary. Or do they all have 0.05%?

apple67cherry · 26/06/2024 20:58

@WildFinch congratulations and good luck for scan. I'm 7+2 and had spotting 4 and 5 weeks and mine is a positive story. I had a cervical bleed nowhere near the pregnancy sac. Not saying this is your case but wanted to spread a bit of hope 😊 hopefully it's just a bit of implantation or something like in my case. There's also something called a nabothian cyst which is what I have (no spotting since 6 weeks but bleed is still there). Sonographer said they don't usually say anything to pregnant women during scan as it can cause panic but they're so so common and can be why you bleed/spot in pregnancy but it doesn't affect baby at all.

I've had bright red/small clots/pink! X

I'm on a quest to find the best 0% drinks 😂 With beer, if I remember correctly, Peroni, Moretti, Heineken and Leffe (at least) do 0% versions of their beer, all very good, and Thatchers do a mean 0% cider which tastes the same as the normal version. 0.5% isn't the end of the world though either.

Wine is trickier. I tried a 0% McGuigan sauvignon blanc the other day which was the most passable so far - still a bit grape-juicy but it has more of a dry finish than other 0% whites I've tried. I've also tried a dealcoholised Torres red recently and it was better than other 0% reds (which are generally awful) but still a pretty poor substitute. All in all the perfect alcohol-free wine remains to be made - for my palate anyway!

I do love a nice glass of wine so the next seven months (assuming all goes well) are going to be a bit of a desert 😂

I found this the other day for moments of extreme crisis or celebration where bubbly is required - an alternative to the disappointing (for me) Nozecco. It is however 0.5% which some may prefer to avoid.

@apple67cherry thank you for the reassurance and glad to hear it was all ok with you. I'm hoping for the best and I'm also quite a spotter when not pregnant. I was told by a nurse doing my smear that I have cysts on my cervix several years back. As this is my first I've no idea what to expect really. I'm keeping everything crossed!
@UrbanSquirrel I like the 0% peroni and asahi for beers. Never drink beer normally but can't stand the non-alcoholic wines I've tried. All so sweet! Might try the ones you've recommended though, I've quite a few social occasions over the summer and it's nice to have something a bit special.

Shortcake06 · 26/06/2024 22:22

@WildFinch oh god that’s a really long time to have sciatica, I’m sorry that’s so tough. I really hope it passes soon. I work in a very physical job and that caused my back pain in the beginning. I know how horrible it is 😭
That’s good you are getting an early scan! I think I will pay for one.
i had a miscarriage last year at 6 weeks and a chemical last month so I’ve been so very anxious. Even though my tests are so much stronger this time than those. Just want to get past 6 weeks safely and then go day by day!

@apple67cherry i think 0% stuff is fine! If you have nausea it might put you off though?

Roxttc · 26/06/2024 22:26

@apple67cherry 0.0% wine has gotten me safely through 2 weekends away with close friends having 0 idea I’m pregnant!! I got my partner to drink an alcoholic screw top wine, washed the bottle and filled it with my 0% each time and no one had a clue I’ve become quite stealthy 😂 Butttt - the white tasted like apple juice and the red wasn’t much better - if anyone had tasted it I think they’d of known. The smell was fairly accurate though!

I had Aldi's "zerozecco" last week (Rose sparkling) and it was actually pretty good. I'm not usually a rose girl but this was nice and it wasn't sweet (I like a dry wine!). I'd like to try their normal zerozecco but could only find the rose version.

This is quite nice with tonic and makes you feel like you are having a spritz

I also had a mocktail at the weekend with 0% tanquaray gin and that tasted good.

our local pub do a 0% beer which is nice but can’t remember the brand. Will look it up next time I’m there!
