@Lidlisthebusiness Just checking in to see how you're doing in terms of Covid - are you feeling better? - and your mum - any news on how she's progressing? Hope things are getting a little calmer for you 🤗

My Covid query is slightly weighted as I've woken up this morning feeling rubbish and I'm trying to decide if it's just a cold or some horrible person has given me Covid on the commute. Need to get some new tests; we had some old ones but they've all dried up 😂 x

@Piluka haha that's worked out very symmetrical for us both 😂
@LilacSnail yes I think that must be the case indeed, different care path in Northern Ireland, who knows maybe also between different trusts.

That's partly why I've went private for NIPT as they aren't offering me the combined test in NHS. They only offer quadruple and apparently combined is better. I said I went for NIPT and she said it's more reliable also so not to worry about quadruple.
Who knows it's all a minefield! It was a fair chunk of change but I'd probably have done it anyway for the extra reassurance as I'm an anxious worrier. But I'd imagine most people just go with combined.

@UrbanSquirrel hope you feel better! So much covid going about! My parents have just had it for the first time.
I'm not being offered the covid vaccine which is maybe another different in location/trusts. She basically said they don't offer it anymore to pregnant people I guess as it's so prevalent in the community now we all build natural immunity. I get called for it anyway via my GP due to a childhood illness and she said no harm getting it just need to make sure I get the one suitable for pregnancy, she couldn't remember which thought maybe Pfizer.

Also again maybe this is another difference in location but we talked about birth options and I explained my anxiety and that I was wondering about a c-section and she was really nice and just said no problem basically. Asked if I was worried about asking her that which I was lol. She changed me to consultant led to kick start that process. Was really surprised as thought from reading about it'd be too early to think about any of that and they'd heavily try to encourage vaginal birth.

@SBelfast Thanks to the might of Deliveroo I've managed to get some Covid tests delivered this morning and fortunately it is not Covid - so it just means it's a bad cold. Physically it'll probably feel much the same, but psychologically somehow it feels so much better!

Interesting what you say about the c-section. At our booking appointment I wasn't sure, but I'm increasingly leaning towards an ELCS (risks of having a first child at 40 as I'll be then, etc). I've been wondering whether I might get any pushback. It's so encouraging to hear that your team were supportive. Well done for thinking about everything so early! 👏🏻

(Mind you I have a family history of preeclampsia and was born at 29 weeks in 1985, so we might not even get far enough to worry about The Plan!)

If you do get pushback ask to be referred to a consultant who is willing to support maternal choice ELCS. It’s a right you have and no midwife or doctor should stop you getting the care you want, they should refer you on if they don’t feel they can provide it.

OrangeSlices998 · 03/08/2024 09:53

Also glad for you it’s not Covid @UrbanSquirrel this week has been literal hell, I’ve never felt so ill. Finally feeling slightly better 6 days in!

UrbanSquirrel · 03/08/2024 10:36

@OrangeSlices998 Oh good lord you poor thing. I hadn't realised you'd gone down with it - sending many healing vibes, and hope you get better soon 🤗 xxx

@UrbanSquirrel so glad it's not Covid for you! I'm all well again now, just tired, but that could be the pregnancy too. Mum is now on a different ward, she had a really alert day yesterday, eyes open amd communicating via nods and hand squeezes!
Unfortunately, it was the one day I didn't go as I needed a day just to rest, sod's law and all that.
I'm on my own at home now with the children as my husband works abroad and was recalled on Tuesday, so everything just got a whole lot busier, which is exactly what I needed right now!

Piluka · 04/08/2024 15:10

Quick question for all of you who had nauseas and they went away but then they came back.

For how long have you got them back? I have been a week nauseas free and last Thursday I got them back, not as bad as before.... But still uncomfortable. Thanks

Piluka · 04/08/2024 15:12

@UrbanSquirrel hey good news about not being covid! It's the last thing anyone would like to catch during pregnancy. Covid it's pretty rough by itself. I'm very glad for you! 😁

Mines on and off, no where near as bad but still heaving at times. I can only think of a few days where its not been present at some point in the day. Hoping it does fully disappear but is more manageable now.

UrbanSquirrel · 04/08/2024 18:04

Huge thanks to everyone for your 'get well soon' wishes. You're all lovely. I had to drop out of a family lunch today, but my husband went, so I spent the afternoon in bed, drinking vast amounts of orange juice and binge-watching Season 2 of Interview with the Vampire and am now feeling on the cusp of getting better.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week 🤗 x

Just dropping in a quick update from me. I was too nervous to mention it before, but I had a reassurance scan today at 11 weeks.

We are measuring 11+4 and baby is doing beautifully :). It's the farthest we've ever got and the tears were plentiful.

QuantumPanic · 04/08/2024 18:40

@KittyFantastica That is wonderful news. So chuffed for you both.

Redapple21 · 04/08/2024 19:44

Great news @KittyFantastica :-)

Apple22over7 · 04/08/2024 20:33

@KittyFantastica that's amazing news! Congrats!

@UrbanSquirrel good to hear you're feeling better!

We told our parents this weekend. MiL was stunned - she'd resigned herself to the fact me & OH weren't ever going to have children and that she'd never be a grandma (OH is an only child), so I think the news will take a little while to sink in. My mum & dad were over the moon - this is their second grandchild, and they're already so excited! My mum especially is looking forward to mother/daughter bonding throughout the pregnancy, something she (naturally) didn't get when my brother & his wife had their little girl.

We've got a few social events with friends lined up for this week to break the news to them too, which I'm also really looking forward to. I think telling people has been my favourite part of this journey so far!

UrbanSquirrel · 04/08/2024 21:12

@KittyFantastica I'm so pleased for you! That's wonderful news and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the baby will just keep doing better and better 🤗

@Apple22over7 It's lovely to hear about everyone's responses! I think my mum was a bit like your MIL. Good luck with the social whirl this week; I'm sure everyone will be absolutely thrilled for you 🤩

SBelfast · 05/08/2024 08:12

Good morning all!
Update from myself, I got my NIPT results on Saturday morning by email and came back low risk, and we are having a boy! Still can't believe it :)
Had a friend staying over weekend so was busy was able to tell some friends and my sister though as they were over on Saturday so that was exciting. Going to tell parents this week when get a chance to see them. My sisters struggling to keep it in, told her she can do it as we've managed to for 13 weeks haha.
Was very pleasantly surprised results came on a Saturday assumed they'd not work over weekend!

@UrbanSquirrel I wasn't exactly organised with asking for c-section lol, more anxiety and a few bad sleeps lying awake worrying about it. Friends we told at the weekend, ones a paediatrician and anesthetist both working in hospital and they said it shouldn't be a problem, think it's your right to request one. Xo

UrbanSquirrel · 05/08/2024 08:23

@SBelfast Oooh congrats! Isn't that our first boy on the thread or did I miss someone (sorry if so). Yes, the results are so speedy aren't they? So happy to hear that all was low risk. Your parents are going to be SO excited! 😂 xxx

@SBelfast congratulations!!! I bet your parents would be over the moon!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳

@KittyFantastica they are great news!!

I absolutely liked your afternoon plan with juice and TV series (I did not know Interview with the vampire had a series. Are they cool? I loved the movie) @UrbanSquirrel

Rockyslife · 05/08/2024 11:06

I can’t believe we’ve got here after 3 losses we made it to a 12 weeks scan! Can anyone guess the sex of our beautiful rainbow baby?

OrangeSlices998 · 05/08/2024 11:49

@Rockyslife delighted for you 🥰 congratulations xxx

UrbanSquirrel · 05/08/2024 12:37

Huge congrats @Rockyslife - what wonderful news! Haven't a clue about the baby, though, I'm sorry to say... But perhaps we have some nub theory experts lurking among us?

OP posts:
UrbanSquirrel · 05/08/2024 12:40

@Piluka I loved the movie too but I have to say I think the series is so much better. It's very different, but the actors are brilliant. You can watch both series for free on iPlayer too! Highly recommended either for relaxation now, or to pass very long wakeful nights from next February onward 😉 x
