I had some symptoms earlier but the last 3 days I've got loads of energy and no symptoms at all which makes me worried as well. But it is just a waiting game now and I'm telling myself that no symptoms could also be quite normal.

In my case, I've had some spotting as well but don't know what to make out of it.

T0r11210 · 27/06/2024 09:30

So I got an appt with the nurse at my GP this morning for the spotting I’ve been having and it turns out I’ve got a urine infection and thrush, with no symptoms and apparently very common in pregnancy. I’ve been having a few cramps but but that down to early pregnancy.
Always best to get checked if you’re having any spotting x

EastLondonCoffeeFiend · 27/06/2024 10:09

Good luck @UrbanSquirrel - we have our booking appointment on Monday so I have no tips unfortunately, but would love any advice you have after yours 🙏 & thank you for the new thread!

re. 0% drinks, there’s a few ciders that I’ve been enjoying. Galipette is a fancy French one but it’s delicious and basically just apple juice 😂

Also, we have our booking appointment today. Finally there! Any recommendations from experienced mums about what I should ask / look out for?

Hope all goes well ❤️ let us know how you get on

@T0r11210 I'm glad you were able to get some further information and reassurance on your spotting - though that sounds as though the infection / thrush could be rather uncomfortable! Hope it settles down and you feel better soon x

Name buddies 😁 I am 5+1 and no symptoms since I found out I'm pregnant. I found out dpo 9, when I had a headache in the evening. Very worrying. I am there with you. Have you done weeks indicator test? Have you got an early scan booked?

Hope1986 · 27/06/2024 13:22

I have booked an early scan but not until 9 July. I’m 5 weeks and have no symptoms apart from sore boobs which come and go and some cramps. It’s going to be a long wait!

Lidlisthebusiness · 27/06/2024 13:53

No real symptoms here either @Lemonbell .
I've had 1 wave of very slight nausea but I put that down to being hungry, and tender breasts just before my period was due, which is normal for me. However, this is pregnancy number 8 for me, and I've never really had any symptoms before so I would encourage you not to worry.

@Lemonbell that's understandable! Try not to equate having symptoms with a healthy pregnancy though. Like I said, I've never really had any, and all being well, this will be baby number 6, everyone and every pregnancy is different. I know it will be difficult to relax, but I hope this is your time 🙂

I hope this is your time.
I also have first time bunch of medications to support the pregnancy, due to recurrent miscarriages, I am taking aspirin, progesterone and clexane injections. If you're taking any immune drugs such as prednisolone, that masks pregnancy symptoms.
Good luck with the scan! I have mine booked for 6+5, slightly terrified there is nothing but hoping we both go all the way in the end.

Hello all - just back from our booking appointment and all went very well. We have really lucked out with our midwife: funny, down to earth, and the same age as me and my husband, so we had lots of jokes about 1985 (obviously) being the best year.

Basically just expect a lot of questions about your, your partner's and both your immediate families' medical histories. I had to provide a urine sample on arrival (but, like all of us, I'm a bit of a pro at weeing on sticks / on target nowadays). There was also a carbon monoxide breath test and bloods taken - along with a talk through of the other scans and tests that will happen. They also check BMI, at which point I adopted a suitably hangdog expression; but, although I'm just over the 30 mark, she didn't seem hugely concerned.

The trigger for extra attention due to age seems to be 40. I've put a bit of a spanner in the works because I turn 40 two days before my EDD so she's checking with a doctor to see if they think I should do the added aspirin thing or not.

But all in all, super easy, very relaxed and reassuring!

@UrbanSquirrel glad it went so well! And thanks for the heads up about what to expect. Did they ask about private scans or anything ?

I actually brought that up myself because - I know it sounds daft - I guess I might have felt rather furtive otherwise. She had no issues with that at all and said she totally understood why people might go for that extra reassurance.

I even explained that we're thinking of having the advanced NIPT next week and she said that that was fine too - the NHS will do their own checks if they find out that there's a high risk from the 12 week scan and, if there's a difference between the findings, they will of course go with their own lab results - as I would want them to!

But no judgment, no issues, which was great.

@UrbanSquirrel thanks for the update, glad it went well! Fellow 1985 baby here, first pregnancy. A sensible down to earth midwife sounds ideal. I've had to fill in a long pre-booking questionnaire which I guess she'll go through, we have our appointment next Wednesday.

superj21 · 27/06/2024 18:54

@UrbanSquirrel aw she sounds like a great midwife and good to hear she was understanding.

OrangeSlices998 · 27/06/2024 19:23

Hi all, can I join? 7+4 by my dates, EDD 9/2/25. This is my 3rd baby, the other 2 are 4 & 2.5. Feeling absolutely awful and nauseous almost every minute of the day 🤢 god I hope this passes soon! My husband is away for work so I’m flying solo and I’m soooooo tired!

UrbanSquirrel · 28/06/2024 06:40

Hello @OrangeSlices998 - of course you can join and welcome! I hope your sickness eases off soon, with two energetic little ones to chase after. Congratulations on the new pregnancy! x

LateNightTalk · 28/06/2024 07:31

Can I hop on too? Around 5+3 due about 25th Feb.. 1st baby and I'm so anxious and scared! Main symptoms for me is sore boobs and mild cramps here and there. Early scan booked for 8ish weeks but anxiety that something is wrong is high!! Kinda want to feel the nausea and sickness to be reassured 😂

UrbanSquirrel · 28/06/2024 07:36

Hello @LateNightTalk and welcome to you too! You are not alone - several of us here are 'enjoying' all of this for the first time (me included) and I think we have all decided that the waiting in the first 12 weeks is the absolute WORST!

Don't worry about the lack of sickness. I haven't had any either - except the faintest flicker of queasiness during the extreme heat of the last few days - and your symptoms sound exactly like mine. I had a scan at 7 weeks and all was well. Another one coming up next week, so fingers crossed for that.

But remember: 7 out of 10 women do experience sickness, but that means 3 out of 10 don't. And don't let anyone freak you out by suggesting that could mean there's something wrong 🤗 We've just got lucky on this particular aspect x

Thank you so much @UrbanSquirrel 🥹 it feels like mad rollacoaster and trying so hard not to stress and roll with it. I'm on a hen do this weekend and none of them know yet obviously! Pre planted I have dental infection which I'm on antibiotics for.. luckily I've had tonnes of dental work in recent years so it's rather believable just need to get past this weekend and then I've got my first booking appointment on the 9th which should hopefully give me re assurance!

Hoping I'm a bit too early and some nausea kicks in.. I'm still in total shock to be fair.. didn't catch my peak this month and with no PMS symptoms which is unusual for me I thought a was having a non ovulate cycle!!

OrangeSlices998 · 28/06/2024 07:50

Thank you @UrbanSquirrel - I do too. It’s like being hungover everyday, it’s just miserable and it’s making me so grumpy and short tempered with my wonderful kids! Is there a Facebook group, I seem to remember joining one of these threads with my daughter (now 4.5 🥹) and eventually someone took the initiative to make a group as the thread grew and grew!

UrbanSquirrel · 28/06/2024 07:55

Yes @OrangeSlices998 there is - the lovely @DauntedAF set one up here (I need to edit my OP and add the link there):
