I'm sending hugs and positive energy your way! I'm sorry you have to experience this anxiety, fingers crossed the cramps are just Baby having a growth spurt 💕
Limbo state is no fun, please know you are not alone!

This is all such rollercoaster coaster - I have gone from having an 8 week scan at the EPU last week and seeing a little baby and heartbeat and joy and belief that this baby might actually be a baby we get to take home as the Sonographer said there is just a 5% chance of having a MC after seeing a heartbeat at 8 weeks, and suddenly that's all gone away. I woke up in the night feeling like a damp feeling and needing a wee, I went to the toilet and there was like pink watery blood in my pyjamas, and then more dark pink blood on the toilet, I bled for about 5 minutes as then a clot just fell out - I didn't see it to see how big but I felt it so it couldn't have been tiny. I didn't have any pain, and the bleeding then pretty much stopped after the clot passed, just a tiny bit of very pale pink when I wipe but nothing in the pad I put in at about 1:30am this morning.
I spent all night crying my eyes out, believing this is MC number 4 in the space of a year - we didn't see a heartbeat with any of the others so I really thought it would be ok this time.
But now I feel confused, if it was MC would I just stop bleeding after passing a clot?
I have left a message with EPU I am hoping they will scan me again but I doubt it will be today.
The up and down of emotions is so so difficult!

I hope you can see someone today and get some peace of mind.
Fingers crossed as the bleeding had stopped and you don't have pain that it's nothing sinister.
Keeping everything crossed and sending a big hug 💕

UrbanSquirrel · 09/07/2024 07:49

@Lemonbell and @Hettycan Sending you both so much love. What a shock on both counts: it really is an emotional rollercoaster. Hope you can both get seen today and / or given some other form of reassurance 🤗 Fingers hugely crossed for both of you and please keep us posted. Be gentle with yourselves and get lots of rest, and I hope you both have good news soon. With big hugs xxx

Aw thank you @Lemonbell you are right sometimes a hug is just needed. Yes that is my experience too with a MC, I'm just worried it's the start of the pregnancy coming away and the bleeding is going to start again any moment.

But another part of me is thinking it's just a clot and now it's passed everything will be fine - at the 8 week scan they did mention that they could see a small amount of blood around the pregnancy sac but it was nothing to worry about and not to panic if I have a little bleeding - but they did not mention passing a clot.

I just hate this limbo, and I really thought I was past that now I had seen the heartbeat twice. I feel so niave now.

Thank you @susie1984234 and @UrbanSquirrel for your kind words honestly it means a lot to have a group of people to turn to

ZingySheep · 09/07/2024 09:59

Hi all! Hope you don't mind me joining. I'm currently 6+5 with my first pregnancy - our third round of transfers (2 x fresh, 1 x frozen). Have our 7-week scan on Thursday so trying very hard to keep calm - this wait has been awful! No real symptoms - the odd wave of light nausea and very bloated, but not sure what's pregnancy versus progesterone tablets!

Find this wait harder than any of the TWWs. Trying not to get carried away but it's very hard! Great to have others in a similar boat.

LilacSnail · 09/07/2024 12:26

@Lemonbell @Hettycan sorry to hear you’ve both had such a rough last day or so.
Really hoping everything is ok & you can both get the reassurance needed via EPAU today. Xx

Hi all,
This is my first post here, been following this threat in the background a lot.
I am 7+4 weeks pregnant and due for my first scan on Thursday. This late morning I've experienced a bright red bleeding, feeling very anxious. I was feeling sick this morning and I had an intercourse this morning, could this cause this bleeding? Has anyone experienced this kind of bleeding and still had a healthy pregnancy? Worried sick.

Hiya! I'm 9+1 now but experience bleeding at 5 1/2 weeks and at 4 weeks on and off but was nearly everyday until it stopped around 6 week mark. I was so convinced I'd miscarry again and had bright red/pink/small clots you name it. No cramping though I may add. It's not always bad but I'd definitely get checked out. I'll link my thread so you can see what I experienced and my updates on it Smile TW BLOOD PIC - advice!! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/5096733-tw-blood-pic-advice?msgid=-5096733#-5096733

@Lemonbell @Hettycan so sorry - I missed your posts when I sent my introduction earlier. I think I hadn't refreshed the page since I was reading last night.

That sounds very stressful - hope you're both doing OK and get some clarity and reassurance today!

Trying to delete a message but can't - ignore this!

A belated welcome, @ZingySheep, and very happy to have another thread member with an animal-based username 😉 Yep, we are all learning on this thread that waiting is the hardest part, but at least we are all waiting together. And everyone has been amazing at banding together to offer support or to celebrate good news. Welcome to the gang 😁

@UrbanSquirrel 😂I panicked when setting up my account so just took one of the "suggested" usernames - felt as good as any, and probably a fair reflection of where my head is with all of this (i.e., non-sensical!)

UrbanSquirrel · 09/07/2024 15:03

@ZingySheep I really like it. I imagine you as white and woolly, wearing funky star-shaped sunglasses 🤣

So sorry that you’re going through all that stress and worry @Lemonbell @Hettycan

Sending you all the best, most positive thoughts. We are all here for you and thinking of you x

UrbanSquirrel · 09/07/2024 17:29

Yes, @Lemonbell and @Hettycan, did either of you hear back from the EPU today? x

OP posts:
Hettycan · 09/07/2024 17:33

Thank you for everyone's kind words.
Annoyingly the EPU discharged me last week after the 8 week scan was all good, so they said they will scan me but I had to go back to the GP to get another referral. The referral was done this afternoon so I'm hoping I will hear from EPU tomorrow, and scan maybe Thursday. It's hard it all takes so long and I could just go private but I'm not sure I want to pay £90 just to be told iv miscarried again.

I am taking some comfort in that the bleed lasted a short amount of time and stopped after the clot passed and it hasn't started again. This isn't my experience of previous MCs where the bleeding continued, although it would get lighter and then heavier it didn't stop entirely for a day!

Redapple21 · 09/07/2024 18:31

Sending love @Hettycan hope you get some reassurance soon.

I am feeling a bit worried about folic acid. I have been taking the recommended dose since before conception as part of a multi vitamin. Once I found out I was pregnant, I moved to Pregnacare which contains the same recommended dose.

I went to my booking appointment on Thursday and the midwife said as my BMI had crept over 30 (I am around 1.5 stone heavier than when I conceived my son 2 years ago) then I should take a higher dose, and she prescribed it.

I've collected the higher dose and it is a lot higher. I'm now concerned the dose I've been taking wasn't enough. There's nothing I can do as I can't go back in time, just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat? For context I am 5ft 1 and around 11.5 stone. So I am overweight but I wear a size 14 clothes so it's not as though I would consider myself massively overweight. It's just unsettled me.

I’m in the exact same boat (including similar body size!). I only got the prescription at 9 weeks when I went to the booking appointment. What helped reassure me was they gave me an extra blood test which included folate levels- it showed mine were high without the extra prescription, so hopefully it got passed along?! Maybe you can ask for the extra test too, or at least take reassurance that my body seemed to be doing ok before the prescription!!

I also try and remind myself that not everything is in our control, and a lot of these recommendations are very new- my Mum was overweight when she had me and didn’t know to take extra folate! And I think I turned out alright 😉

Redapple21 · 09/07/2024 19:15

Thanks so much @EastLondonCoffeeFiend that has helped me feel much better. As you say there's nothing I can do now, I will just start taking it today! The midwife took blood so hopefully they do check the folate levels as you say. Thanks again for reassuring me.

elb1504 · 09/07/2024 20:30

@Redapple21 I always think in instances like this about all the people who find out their pregnant really late and haven't been taking any prenatal vitamins potentially drinking etc... and have babies that are fine. Also positive you've been taking them for a while which has got to be a good thing! Doesn't stop the worrying though!

UrbanSquirrel · 09/07/2024 20:50

@Redapple21 If it's any consolation, I'm in very much the same position, although my BMI is a teeny bit higher (slap on wrist, very intense sedentary period at work, too much good food and wine, was meant to get back into daily aerobics, then found I was pregnant, etc, etc 😉).

I was prescribed 5mg extra folic acid and roughly the same amount extra of Vitamin D, and I've just added those onto the existing Pregnacare with omega 3. It's amazing I don't rattle. Genuinely, there are so many tablets I've had to buy a pill box, like an old lady.

We will be absolutely fine. We were taking folic acid anyway, and now we've just been given a bonus boost ☺️ My midwife didn't seem concerned at all, so I assume it's planned to be of use for whatever the next phase will be!

Does anyone have any advice for constant low level nausea? It’s been around a week of it now and I’m sick of it! Just feeling constantly shitty and every time I try and eat anything, I get about one bite in before I’m not able to eat any more (I’ve tried all sorts!) for several hours, so the little but often advice doesn’t really work for me 😭 I’m ten weeks today and was so pleased I’d missed out on any horrific symptoms then got covid last week and I’m still feeling rubbish from that, plus the not being able to eat, I feel awful!

Redapple21 · 09/07/2024 21:10

@elb1504 @UrbanSquirrel thanks so much ladies for the support, it has made me feel better already. I think I'm also annoyed with myself for letting my BMI get too high. I know I gained weight after having my son and I just didn't have the willpower to shift it.
Anyway we are here now, and hopefully all will be well as you say.
@UrbanSquirrel did your midwife say you would take the higher dose for the rest of your pregnancy? Mine didn't actually tell me how long, but has prescribed me a months worth. I might call and ask if I should be getting a repeat prescription once I've finished these.

UrbanSquirrel · 09/07/2024 21:11

@Redapple21 Good question. I have a vague recollection that she said 'up until week 12', but I wouldn't want to swear by it. If you do check in with your midwife, please let me know what she says!
