@UrbanSquirrel thanks so much for replying. The clinic definitely does internal or abdominal scans it just depends what they can see. I will do the internal if needed. I’m just worried about it bringing back some of the trauma from the internal scan I had when I was miscarrying 🫣

UrbanSquirrel · 07/07/2024 13:16

@Shortcake06 Totally understandable. I hope they'll be able to reassure you, or offer an alternative 🤗 x

@superj21 you might find this interesting. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4928162/

Peripheral vasodilation in early pregnancy leads to decreased resistance and increased stroke volume (more blood moved for every pump of the heart) - could account for your decreased RHR?

Thanks @QuantumPanic that's really interesting!

Lidlisthebusiness · 07/07/2024 16:28

I'm having the worst week of my life, and the preganancy has taken a back seat. My Mum had a massive stroke on Friday evening, she's in a coma and so I'm in the hospital whenever I can be, with so many thoughts and feelings rushing around my head that I don't know what I'm doing sometimes.

I've been concerned that the stress levels could affect the baby, and buy as worried as I am about that, I have to concentrate on my Mum, and also take on the care for my Dad, who has dementia. It's a very tough time at the moment.

UrbanSquirrel · 07/07/2024 17:37

@Lidlisthebusiness That's such awful news! I'm so, so sorry to hear it. Your poor mum! And, of course poor you, being pulled in so many directions. We have a family history of dementia and I can imagine all too well the demands on your time. Do you have siblings who can help shoulder some of the load?

My heart goes out to you, really it does. Life throws us curveballs at the worst possible time. I hope your mum stabilises soon. In the meantime, sending lots of love and hugs to you and your dad xxx

Hi, I’m new to posting here but have been reading the posts on the thread and so sorry to hear of the sad news for some.

Want to share my latest update in case it’s helpful for anyone else, I’m trying to not worry much so maybe this is also for my sanity!

Had an early private scan booked today, going in assuming 9w2d based on last cycle. Sonographer said we’re actually measuring at just 5w5d!! Too early to see heartbeat, which was a big surprise.. but based on ovulation dates etc she said she wasn’t worried given I have irregular cycles. Got a rescan in two weeks to hopefully see growth from today and heartbeat.

Meant to have my booking app on Tuesday but not sure if it’s worth bothering this early based on new dates, so will call tomorrow and see what’s recommended.

Thank you for the welcome ladies. I’ve requested to join the Facebook group. Is the Facebook page or this thread the best place to chat?

Sorry to hear some of you are having such tough times. Early pregnancy can be a difficult time, so extra pressures must be awful. Hope you all have support offline to help.

WRT disappearing symptoms, I remember having these in my first pregnancy and all was well. They often disappear to worry us, then come back with a vengeance!

MilkingIt · 07/07/2024 21:57

Hi guys joining late! I had my first positive last Saturday and booked myself a private scan yesterday I’m 6 + 6 with my due date being 24th February 2025! Second pregnancy and definitely feeling very anxious this time around not really sure why! I’m guessing just the wonderful hormones 😔

wondering if anyone has had light spotting and if this is normal? I had the tiniest bit just once today and nothing else since however my nausea seems to have disappeared too! Anyone else experienced this?

Hopefully2ndtimemummy · 07/07/2024 22:45

QuantumPanic · 07/07/2024 10:05

@Hopefully2ndtimemummy I had nausea from week 7ish to week 8ish and then it completely disappeared. I'm ten weeks today and no sign of it (although I do occasionally get a little heartburn). Otherwise no symptoms to speak of really - although over the past couple of days I've suddenly developed a belly!! (Seems very early, but I've googled 'ten weeks belly and some women are a lot bigger than I am at this stage, so reassuring to know it's normal.)

I mentioned the vanishing nausea to the midwife at my booking appointment, but she wasn't concerned at all. My scan is just after 13 weeks, so a three week wait to see if everything's ok.

Thanks a mil! Glad you’re doing ok atm. My scan is after 13 weeks too and does feel such a long time away!

@GodspeedJune I would say this is the best place to chat but Facebook might be better for specific questions. I think we're all still figuring out what works best!

Hiya please feel free to check my thread TW BLOOD PIC - advice!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/5096733-tw-blood-pic-advice
I was similar amount of weeks and went through this and this was my story. I'm now 9 weeks and the pregnancy is very strong and going well. I have had a chemical pregnancy before which started from spotting which didn't end well but wanted to also give a positive story that it doesn't always mean something bad Smile

Does anyone else have a confusing abdomen at the moment? I'm currently 7+6 and can feel my abdomen more than I usually would but I can't tell if it's cramp or ligament pain or queasiness or hunger or if I need the loo!

Yes! This is exactly what I was trying to describe to my husband. Like there's a little balloon and it's kind of crampy but not exactly crampy, and I'm bloated but it also feels like more than bloat.

Definitely this! My abdomen is very confused it's bloated, hungry/sicky/crampy and loads of other things it's driving me mad!

Shortcake06 · 08/07/2024 18:15

@whizbee omg yes. The bloat is unbelievable I look about 6 months already! Normally really crampy and uncomfortable by the end of the day and it makes no difference what I eat.
And so hungry, but loads of food aversions. Plus any time I’m hungry I feel so sick 🤢

ThisLimeDeer · 08/07/2024 18:34

Little update from me, I have my booking appointment this Friday, however the scan I had last week confirmed that I was only 5+2 that day meaning I will be 6+3 when I see the midwife. Much too early but I decided to go as I have a couple of queries anyway and I guess worst case scenario I’m sure we can still have a chat? not sure if I’m doing the right thing - should I move it? I do suffer from hypertension so I’m hoping we can have a conversation about that.

Also this is going to be a little bit TMI - but has anyone noticed changes in their discharge? I seem to have a lot more and it’s light yellow which makes me think there’s a problem 🤔. Another reason to speak to midwife asap I think.

retrievermum · 08/07/2024 21:26

@ThisLimeDeer i had my booking appointment really early too (confusing dates RE last period), I think I was about 6+5. She still got all of the info she needed and it doesn’t REALLY matter when you see her (they typically like to wait until 8-10 as the risk of MC is a bit lower then).

In terms of discharge, lots is very normal in pregnancy (just wait until the end - the amount of women I know who thought their waters had broken when it was actually just discharge!) and light yellow is also fine as long as it smells okay :)

Roxttc · 09/07/2024 07:22

@whizbee Yes I’ve been having bloating and pains from bloating/trapped wind since 5 weeks! It did subside last week all week but seems to be back with a vengeance this week 😂 try just eating little and often that’s really helped me. And lying down a lot but that’s not really possible most the time!

I’ve got my booking appointment today, I’m 9w 4d - really hoping I can have my scan booked in before I get to 13 weeks as have a lot of plans with family around 13w 1/2d and want to be able to tell them then but would rather we’d had our scan! I also have annual leave booked start of the last week of July and since I have no plans to tell work for a while yet I’d rather be able to go on my day off and not have to ask for time off. Fingers crossed!

Hettycan · 09/07/2024 07:31

This is all such rollercoaster coaster - I have gone from having an 8 week scan at the EPU last week and seeing a little baby and heartbeat and joy and belief that this baby might actually be a baby we get to take home as the Sonographer said there is just a 5% chance of having a MC after seeing a heartbeat at 8 weeks, and suddenly that's all gone away. I woke up in the night feeling like a damp feeling and needing a wee, I went to the toilet and there was like pink watery blood in my pyjamas, and then more dark pink blood on the toilet, I bled for about 5 minutes as then a clot just fell out - I didn't see it to see how big but I felt it so it couldn't have been tiny. I didn't have any pain, and the bleeding then pretty much stopped after the clot passed, just a tiny bit of very pale pink when I wipe but nothing in the pad I put in at about 1:30am this morning.
I spent all night crying my eyes out, believing this is MC number 4 in the space of a year - we didn't see a heartbeat with any of the others so I really thought it would be ok this time.
But now I feel confused, if it was MC would I just stop bleeding after passing a clot?
I have left a message with EPU I am hoping they will scan me again but I doubt it will be today.
The up and down of emotions is so so difficult!

So sorry you are in limbo again too 💔 I don't know if this helps at all but when I had 8 week scan last week the sonographer said not to panic if I get any spotting or a small amount of blood even after seeing the baby heartbeat it's still completely normal. The pain is always worrying though, but again it can be normal.
I am just trying to say to myself I am still pregnant until they tell me I am not.
I really hope they can see you quickly and you get the reassurance you need x
