@retrievermum No bright ideas, I'm afraid, but just wanted to say, ugh, poor you! Covid and then constant low-level sickness 😕 It just sounds horrible. Hope you bounce back very soon x

@Redapple21 Good question. I have a vague recollection that she said 'up until week 12', but I wouldn't want to swear by it. If you do check in with your midwife, please let me know what she says!

Yes I really can't remember what she said! I will enquire and let you know. X

I'm supposed to take folic acid 5 mg (is that your prescription?) the whole of the pregnancy. I have mtfhr mutation though, so not bmi related. I am also told to take it outside pregnancy if I understood correctly, so I don't think it'll be an issue to take the entire pregnancy. I have it on repeat prescription.

LilacSnail · 09/07/2024 21:39

Hey guys, I had my midwife appointment yesterday and I’m in the same boat, BMI means I need to take an additional dose of vit D and folic acid.

I’ve been taking pregnacare max too, so I just need to pop to the chemist & buy the top up dose. When I saw how different the folic acid was I was a bit surprised but at least I’ve been taking something. I sort of feel if this was something very critical they would have it some sort of leaflet when they send your booking appointment confirmation. Xx

EastLondonCoffeeFiend · 09/07/2024 22:17

@Redapple21 my midwife definitely said ‘up until the 12 week scan’ for the higher dose, but definitely check in case it’s different for you for some reason!

Redapple21 · 10/07/2024 07:09

@LilacSnail it seems like a few of us are in the same boat then! My midwife prescribed mine as our prescriptions are now free. Yours should have probably done the same! Hopefully they're not too expensive.

Roxttc · 10/07/2024 10:20

I’ve been taking high dose of folic acid since Feb so 3 months before trying due to my mum having losses due to Spinal Bifida - had my booking appt yesterday and she advised I can stop taking that at the 12 week mark and go onto a pregnancy multivitamin instead. You can actually buy high dose online I did that after the faff of having it prescribed initially! As about £8 for 120 tablets.

I didn’t realise you don’t actually book your scan at booking appointment I now have to wait for a letter from hospital. Bit annoying as I’m impatient 😂 and also basing when I can tell people around the scan!

elb1504 · 10/07/2024 10:50

I hope people don't mind me having a rant, I'm just so exhausted I'm struggling to get through the day. My DS is poorly meaning I'm trying to work from home and look after him whilst feeling rubbish myself and its starting to get to me now! Fingers crossed the nausea and tiredness shifts soon!

More positively I had my booking appointment yesterday and they booked my 12 week scan and not long to wait as its when I'll be just 12 weeks and I'm 10+3 now. Having to be consultant led this time due to previous c section and having some thyroid issues after pregnancy last time.

@apple67cherry thank you for sharing your story about bleeding, I was a mess yesterday and you gave me hope!
This morning we had a scan for the first time (7weeks+5days) and it turns out we are having twins! Both healthy looking and we've seen a heartbeat. We are over the moon but shocked at the same time. It just show you that not all bleeding means bad news after all. Thank you for your support.x

@Lilly2025 Wow, that's amazing news! Congratulations 😊

retrievermum · 10/07/2024 13:32

@elb1504 do you mind me asking your thoughts on elective section vs VBAC? I had an EMCS with DD in May 2023 and I’m desperate for a VBAC but so scared I’ll fail and end up traumatised again with another crash section

UrbanSquirrel · 10/07/2024 13:33

@Lilly2025 Wow! Two sets of twins on the thread now! Congratulations Lilly. You must be absolutely thrilled (and probably rather overwhelmed). We heard from @Kt1704 last week that she's having twins too. Such lovely news ☺️

ZingySheep · 10/07/2024 13:40

Oh congratulations @Lilly2025 ! That’s so exciting. Do you know if they’re fraternal / identical?

I’ve got my 7 week scan tomorrow. Nerves are definitely starting to kick in! I haven’t really had many symptoms - the odd wave of nausea and definitely hungrier than normal, but I’m on progesterone so hard to know what’s what, and I definitely don’t really “feel” pregnant.

Feels like a bit of a sliding doors moment!

elb1504 · 10/07/2024 13:43

@Lilly2025 Congratulations what fab news I bet that was a shock.

@retrievermum I had EMCS too back I 2020 so long time ago but think I'll be going down the VBAC route all being well. I had a very long labour getting to fully dilated before EMCS so I do not want to go through that again but I'm hoping 2nd time round it won't be as long. I've had couple friends have elective sections and their experiences sound great. I'm sure consultant will be pushing VBAC.

Kt1704 · 10/07/2024 13:56

@Lilly2025 Congratulations! I’m the other twin mumma to be 😍
7 weeks 3 days. How are you feeling? My nausea is dreadful xx

retrievermum · 10/07/2024 14:08

@elb1504 yeah I did too, three full days of contracting every two minutes! Got to 8cm but they thought me and baby were both septic so rushed to get her out. My notes say I’m suitable for a VBAC I’m just terrified of it not happening (which is ridiculous I know!).

Lilly2025 · 10/07/2024 15:27

Omg! Congratulations to you!
We were definitely overwhelmed with this news and asked to be checked again to be sure 😂🥰

I am 7+5weeks so pretty much the same as you @Kt1704 yep the same here - I am super tired and feeling sick everyday, struggle to eat anything.
This is so exciting to know you are expecting twins too, pretty much the same timing!

elb1504 · 10/07/2024 15:54

@retrievermum I'm trying not to think about it too much and just going to go with the flow I think (as much as possible)

Kt1704 · 10/07/2024 15:56

@Lilly2025 Aww amazing it is exciting isn’t it! Nice to know someone else is in the same position as me so we can relate ☺️
I’m soo sick and weak. Not exactly vomiting but just bad nausea and I don’t want to eat anything. Really struggling to work at the moment as I’m in retail so on my feet all day. GP has prescribed anti sickness tablet and they do seem take some edge off the nausea but they make me feel even more tired!!! Ahh I hope it dies down by the end of this trimester for both of us xxx

Roxttc · 10/07/2024 16:14

@Lilly2025 Congratulations! That’s very exciting news

Roxttc · 10/07/2024 16:16

I’m 10 weeks tomorrow and I really feel like I have the start of a very small bump today anyone else? 😂 Im sure it’s just bloat although I don’t feel bloated today, and I’ve never had a flat tummy anyway but it feels quite firm compared to usual

rolzshe · 10/07/2024 16:18

Hi all, hope it's ok if I join the thread.

I found out yesterday that I'm pregnant, according to my flo app I would be 7 weeks but clearblue digital yesterday said 2-3 weeks so I'm not sure.

Congratulations to everyone on here🥰

UrbanSquirrel · 10/07/2024 16:40

@Roxttc My husband and I are currently engaged in a daily game called 'is it a bump or is it podge?' So far, alas, I think podge is holding its own. But I'm 11 weeks on Friday and am very much hoping that'll change soon 😂

OP posts:
ZingySheep · 10/07/2024 16:46

@UrbanSquirrel @Roxttc I'm a few weeks behind you both but my tummy definitely doesn't look like it did 2 months ago! I suspect mostly bloat from the progesterone but some of the clothes are already no gos - even some of my leggings are feeling a bit too tight for comfort! I won't mind a proper bump but the bloat is definitely annoying 😂
