I agree with others @PurpleBath . Try to drink things that look ambiguous. Appetiser in a champagne flute is a great one, I used it on my wedding and hen do! Nobody suspected a thing.

I did a test this morning as my others have been very faint but this one was pretty undeniable. I feel really lucky that both pregnancies have happened on the first try, it does make me a bit nervous.

No symptoms yet, I dread the morning sickness as last time was vomiting from weeks 6-20. I’m also nervous about how DD2 will react to a sibling. I have one that I have spent a lifetime arguing with so I hope she doesn’t have that. I hear a 3 year age gap is quite desirable though.

Hey, I had HG with my first and have started antisickness already in a hope it stops it. May be worth a try? X

Rach3190 · 29/06/2024 21:18

Hi everyone, I'm tentatively popping in.
I had a chemical pregnancy 3 weeks 2 days ago, I was having negative tests.
I'm 9dpo today and did 2 easy at home tests one fmu and one early evening both positive, the evening one darker than this morning.
I dont want to get my hopes up just yet as don't know if my body is tricking me but will keep popping in.
Congratulations everyone

Hello - nervously joining as just had a positive test this morning and find this phase where it's super early SO hard - will be nice to have people to chat to about it! Have a little boy who is 18 months old tomorrow and then looks like I'd be due with #2 around 9th March. Is anyone booking an early private scan - and if so, how early??

I’ve booked one for 17th July, will be 7 weeks 4 days. Wanted to do earlier but want to make sure I can hopefully see something as they’re not cheap!

MrsWindrush · 30/06/2024 01:32

Oooh @SMD16 you'd have the same sort of age gap as me!! Not quite 2 under 2, but not massively far off it either...I've always wanted quite a close gap (and am 37 so feel like time is passing too) - we've been trying for 6 months now so couldn't quite believe it when a second line appeared. Really keeping everything^^ crossed at this stage though.
Reckon I'll go for an early private scan at 8weeks and probably won't quite believe it until that point - unless the horrendous morning sickness that I had with my son starts before then!

ELJ1502 · 30/06/2024 08:47

Hi Everyone, tentatively joining with a very strong positive this morning on an Amazon cheapy.

I’m 4+2 - 16dpo with an estimated due date of 7th of March.

I have 4 year old DD and we’ve been trying for no2 for around 2 years. We conceived last October but found an empty sac at a 9 week early scan. This then followed lots of waiting until we met the NHS guidelines of sac size before they decided we had miscarried. Unfortunately, my body didn’t want to let go like expected so we had to have medical management the week before Christmas.

We just started some testing for secondary infertility and bam positive test this morning.

It’s safe to say, I’m petrified this time round.

We have 2 holidays booked at the end of July/ middle of August so I’ll be booking an early scan at around 7 weeks. I think I just need to know what’s happening after last time but it also scares me that it will happen all over again.

I hope everyone is feeling okay today.

Melusina123 · 01/07/2024 08:57

Hi all, welcome to new joiners! How are we all feeling?

I'm 4+6 and in a bit of a weird mood at the moment. Since I stopped POAS I've felt very disconnected. I've got a very what-will-be-will-be attitude generally, having experienced losses before. I feel a little bit off my food and tired but otherwise I could easily forget I'm pregnant. Going by last time(s), proper morning sickness will probably hit in a week or so. So I guess I should be enjoying my last week of not feeling crap??

Still can't decide where to register for antenatal care, and still can't decide whether to get early scans. Since I'm 38 I'm basically set on doing NIPT privately around 10 weeks but tossing up an early scan around 7wks. Also I ovulated a week late so going by dates everything is going to be a week behind where it should be. So I may end up with my NHS scan at 11wks, a week after the NIPT, unless I bump back my LMP by a week when I register.

Tri 1 is so weird, I don't like it!

PregnantNowScrewed · 01/07/2024 09:18

I’m the same @Melusina123 …it doesn’t really feel real to me yet. My 6yo has been behaving very badly this week (I think end of term exhaustion plus general tiredness from going to bed later due to heat/light evenings) and some days I feel like how on earth can I add another child into this?!

Im definitely going to have an early scan at 6 ish weeks and will then book in with the hospital where I had DC’s 1 and 2 after that. Will also do NIPT as I’m 37, but not finding out the sex this time (we did with dc2). I’m resigned to the expense of it as I need the peace of mind.

Melusina123 · 01/07/2024 09:26

@PregnantNowScrewed do you know which NIPT you had? There seem to be so many options! I am thinking Panorama - Harmony seems to be not great these days.

PregnantNowScrewed · 01/07/2024 09:36

@Melusina123 I had the Harmony back in 2020…hadn’t got as far as researching what to get this time as assumed they were all essentially the same. What’s wrong with harmony?

Melusina123 · 01/07/2024 09:50

@PregnantNowScrewed this is all v new to me but I found this page that seems to suggest Harmony has been discontinued? https://www.londonpregnancy.com/nipt/ but then I can see providers still offering it. 🤷‍♀️ Probably worrying over nothing - I'm sure they all do the job.

Hi can I join. I got my positive test on Saturday edd 4th march

I think I might be in the minority here, I have only test once! I have an almost 4 yo and did the same with her. Both times the pregnancy line came up first and very quickly so never considered doing more until I came on here!

My boobs ached this morning when my daughter was using them as a pillow but otherwise I just a bit tired but that might just be life! My had horrible pregnancy sickness with my first so I'm on a mission to eat all the nice foods I can before that starts! I spent 6 of 9 months living off rice crackers and tinned peaches with my first!

I took loads with my first but have 'only' took 3 this time, the third was purely to use up the test 😂

I think I'm only 4 weeks but I woke up this morning with awful dizziness and some slight nausea, I felt severely hungover! I didn't have any symptoms this early with my first.

ChristmasJumpers · 01/07/2024 13:10

I think I am 6 weeks today and started feeling quite nauseous over the weekend. It seems to be the same as last time for me, where the thought of food turns my stomach, but not eating makes me feel worse - I can't win!
I've booked an early scan for 13th so I'll be 7.5 weeks or so.
With DD I got bad nausea (occasional throwing up) & food aversions weeks 6-16, then onto bad heartburn, then when I started to feel better, I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes and pelvic hurdle pain. I swore I'd never do this again 😂

Is anyone else just telling people? I can't be bothered hiding it with how ill I was last time. I've told family, friends and work already

Flowerpots32 · 01/07/2024 13:42

Nervously entering the chat! 10dpo today and have had BFP getting stronger since 8dpo. I had a chemical a couple of cycles ago - so very aware it’s early days but keeping fingers crossed and trying to stay positive!

Superscientist · 01/07/2024 14:06

@ChristmasJumpers
I told my boss today but as I work in a lab it's part of my job description to inform them as soon as I know so they can do another risk assessment

With my first I made the decision to tell people when it was the best explanation. For nights out last time I had the advantage of it being January so got away with saying I was on a health kick but when I had to ask someone to do some lab work for me I told her it was because I was pregnant and I let someone who I had regular meetings with through the week know that there were blocks of time in my calendar blocked out due to pregnancy appointments this was 9 weeks onwards.

I plan to do similar, if pregnancy is the reason and a lie would be a bad reason I told people on a case by case basis. We told my partners parents at 12 weeks, his brother at 16 weeks and my family at 17 weeks and I will probably do the same. Oddly I'm more comfortable with colleagues knowing than I am family! 😂

msbrightside2 · 01/07/2024 15:03

Hi everyone, I would like to join too. I am 4+4, due date 6th of March.

I feel like I'm having some symptoms already, I am absolutely ravenous and getting a bit of lightheadedness. Also getting easily irritated!

Anyone else previously had an ectopic pregnancy? These early weeks are so stressful, every little twinge in my stomach makes me worry it will happen again.

I'd like to get an early scan in a couple of weeks and will then start letting people know. We are going to 2 weddings at the start of August and I'm not sure I will be able to hide the pregnancy from people who know me well!

That’s interesting @Melusina123…I wonder why? I was planning on going to the Fetal Medical Centre and they don’t seem to spell out which brand of test they use so I might double check with them.

I have boycotted the London Pregnancy Clinic after an early scan with them showed a missed miscarriage and they continued to email me to advertise follow-up scans even after I’d asked them (twice!) to delete me from their database. They have a clinic very close to my office though so it is a shame!

Congrats to new joiners! I haven’t told anyone yet and barely even discussed it with DH (who is in shock!). Think I will leave it as long as I possibly can. I’d also like my kids to be the first to know and don’t want to tell them too far in advance as it’s such a long wait for them. But also very conscious with dc3 I might get a bump sooner rather than later so may have no option!

pinkrose001 · 01/07/2024 15:59

Tentatively joining!🙏 Got a positive last Thursday and nurse confirmed I was pregnant today. Was worried as line progression didn't seem to get that much darker but roughly 14dpo - I have pcos and LMP was 28th May so not too sure on due date. This will be our first baby🤞 Sending lots of luck to you all❤️

Melusina123 · 01/07/2024 16:16

@PregnantNowScrewed eek! That's not good!! There are so many orgs out there taking advantage of women's worry in T1 aren't there. :/

Welcome and congratulations new joiners!

ELJ1502 · 01/07/2024 16:35

I’m definitely over doing it with the POAS. Bought a clear blue digital date today and it said 2-3 weeks already so it’s eased my mind a little. For some reason, it feels more real when it’s in writing.

Nausea has started to kick in and I’m sick of feeling like I’ve wet myself already. Is anyone else’s discharge REALLY heavy?

WLaura · 01/07/2024 18:19

Hey ladies

Am due 4th March (so far) it's not fully settled in yet I keep checking for my period. But I do have a few questions if that's OK:)

A have you told anyone yet?
B do you have any other children if so how old
C how old are u? (You don't have to answer)

I've told my husband first then my mum and sister (the test was not clear so I wanted to double check) and 2 of my i thought was my close friends which I wish I never did now but can't take it back :( I have a 7 nearly 8 year old and I am 35. (These are what worries me the big age gap and the fact am a "geriatric" and guess i wanted advice)

Congratulations 🎊

m00ngirl · 01/07/2024 19:20

@WLaura

A: only husband
B: first pregnancy, took almost a year of trying
C: mid 30s... we're not geriatric!! 😁 for lots of women this is a good age to do it these days imo

Superscientist · 01/07/2024 19:25

@WLaura
A. partner and boss (Job requirement)
B. Daughter 4 in August
C. 36

I am the middle of 3 with 7 and 4 y age gaps and have always been really close
My dad is eldest of 5 and has age gaps to his siblings of 2-21 years. The only one he does speak to is the 2y gap and my nan was 44 when she had the youngest! If that is of any comfort!

MrsWindrush · 01/07/2024 19:30

@WLaura, in answer to your questions:

a) had a positive test this weekend whilst away with a friend - so told her, and then my husband when I got home.
b) have a little boy who was 18 months yesterday, and had a pregnancy which ended in a miscarriage in 2018
c) I turned 37 last week.

Just booked a private scan for 30 July - reckon I'll be 8+2 then. Don't think I'll really believe it/let myself get excited before then as am very fearful of what could go wrong etc.
