@WLaura try not to worry about the age thing - I was 35 when I had my son and although I was under consultant care throughout but it was a textbook smooth pregnancy and delivery!

Zuzu2020 · 01/07/2024 19:45

@WLaura

A- my husband and younger sis.
B- yes 3. DS 5 DD3 DD15 months
C- I'll be 30 on Sat.

Hey ladies

Am due 4th March (so far) it's not fully settled in yet I keep checking for my period. But I do have a few questions if that's OK:)

A have you told anyone yet?
B do you have any other children if so how old
C how old are u? (You don't have to answer)

I've told my husband first then my mum and sister (the test was not clear so I wanted to double check) and 2 of my i thought was my close friends which I wish I never did now but can't take it back :( I have a 7 nearly 8 year old and I am 35. (These are what worries me the big age gap and the fact am a "geriatric" and guess i wanted advice)

Congratulations 🎊

I’m 36 (just) and I have a 12 nearly 13 yr old and 8 year old (will be 9 when baby here). I’m in a new relationship hence the gap. I’ve told my mum and dad today as it was her birthday. My best friend and a couple of other friends guessed as wasn’t drinking at a party. Will be telling kids and more after my early scan on 17th if all well.

VLT36 · 01/07/2024 20:13

Welcome to all the newcomers. Think there were some with the same due date as me 4th March. 😊

In answer to your question @WLaura

A, My husband and a close friend that's also been through baby loss in the past - she asked me if there were any updates on ttc again and I couldn't lie to her.
B, I've got 2 boys 14 and 11, sadly our twins last year passed away neonatally after being born extremely prematurely.
C, I'm 37!

ninaballerina12 · 01/07/2024 20:24

Welcome new joiners, officially into week 5 and starting to feel a little yucky this evening but not sure if it’s in my head! Hope you’re all feeling ok!

A. I’ve told my fiance (obv!) mum and a close friend who has been through IVF and was really open with me through that process. My neighbour / friend accidentally knows as she’s selling her Bjorn bouncer, and guessed by my interest to buy it, oops! Randomly, I have also told my acupuncturist - I started acupuncture for this successful cycle, and not sure if it’s coincidence but it seemed to work like magic!

B. I have a 20 month old DS and had a MC in February.

C. I am 32.

Kingofthetyrantlizards · 01/07/2024 20:30

Congratulations to all the new joiners!

@WLaura to answer your questions - I'm 37 and I have a DD who's almost 3. I've only told my DH and my manager so far, will probably wait before telling anyone else - trying to work out how/when to say anything as don't want to tell DD too early but also don't want her to accidentally find out from someone else.

I'm not planning to have any additional testing/scans other than what we get anyway. I have my first midwife appointment booked for when I'm 8 weeks... was quite impressed with how quickly they got in touch tbh. It's the same midwife who I saw with both my previous pregnancies so good continuity of care 😆

ELJ1502 · 01/07/2024 20:40

@WLaura

hi :)

a. I’ve only told my partner but we will tell parents soon.
B. We have a 4 year old daughter.
C. I’m 32 :)

@MrsWindrush I feel exactly the same. I’m going to book a private scan for around the 8 week mark. I need to see a little heartbeat to chill out and not worry.

mamacitas7 · 01/07/2024 20:45

A. Only my partner knows
B. Second pregnancy, we have a 2 year old
C. 30

PregnantNowScrewed · 01/07/2024 21:24

Feel like there are a lot of fellow 37 year olds on this thread!

@WLaura I’ve only told DH so far…think family will be shocked as they thought we were done. We have a boy and a girl, aged 6 and 3.5 (2.5 years between them), so this will be DC3 and keeping the sex a surprise.

Happy Birthday for Friday. I'll try and remember on the day too 😃

We gad my cousins wedding over the weekend and omg I am so drained I don't know if its due to the pregnancy or I'm just not up for early mornings and late nights anymore 😂

@WLaura hi!

  1. Yes - just immediate family and close friends, I had HG last time so couldn't hide it for be try long anyway. Feeling very nauseous today as well
  2. Yes, DS (3)
  3. I'm 36 👵
ButItHasCheese · 02/07/2024 04:38

Has anyone else read the Expecting Better book by Emily Oster?

I'm a bit older with this pregnancy, so looking at more early testing and wondering if anyone could share their experience of CVS?

I'm definitely doing the NIPT (did it last time and it saved my sanity)

m00ngirl · 02/07/2024 07:52

How's everyone getting on, symptoms etc?

I'm a bit worried as last week I had a lot of intense body aches, head aches, mild cramp, tired. But the past couple of days I feel much more energetic, no aches, a few cramp twinges occasionally but that's all. I'm only 5+3 so no point in seeking scan. I'm worried... so desperate for this to work out!

What's everyone else feeling?

ninaballerina12 · 02/07/2024 08:03

@m00ngirl I have been feeling tired but not sure if that’s my toddler’s work ha, he loves a 5.30am rise!

I have tender boobs which come and go. I started to feel a bit yucky last night and couldn’t stop thinking about some BBQ food I ate on the weekend - it kept making me feel really gross. Other than that though, no proper nausea and nothing like what I had with my DS. I am still enjoying my morning coffee which says a lot!

It’s so hard not to overthink and worry at this stage! I had spotting at this stage with both my DS and MC so feel like I’m kind of waiting for that to start although maybe this time it will be different!

Are you going to book an early scan?

Melusina123 · 02/07/2024 08:03

@m00ngirl symptoms come and go, especially this early. I've had sore boobs, but not every day, and a bit of nausea, but not every day, and feeling tired (every day 🥲). Last week I had some cramping but not really anymore. And I've got a bit of a "runny tummy" which I had last time but it freaked me out because conventional wisdom is that it tends to go the other way (ie constipation). Sometimes I could forget I'm pregnant. This morning I felt a bit queasy and thought to myself, "I wonder if I ate something funny," before I remembered!

Last time the really consistent "pregnancy symptoms" didn't set in until wk6 and they started easing off a bit after wk8 which freaked me out, but I really didn't start feeling more human until about wk11.

Superscientist · 02/07/2024 08:22

I had some nausea yesterday afternoon. I had awful pregnancy sickness last time that started at 5-6 weeks. I really hope it isn't as bad this time around

PregnantNowScrewed · 02/07/2024 08:45

I’ve been feeling completely normal. No symptoms at all except my nipples are really massive and dark pink 🤣.

Also waiting for the morning sickness and crushing fatigue to kick in which is usually around week 6-7 for me…really trying to enjoy this while I can.

@ButItHasCheese I will get an NIPT but wouldn’t get a CVS unless there was something that indicated I was higher risk (eg genetic disease in the family or an issue showing up on scan or NIPT). It’s an invasive procedure and I think carries a (small) risk of miscarriage. At 36 I wouldn’t have thought it necessary unless you have additional risk factors?

pinkrose001 · 02/07/2024 09:16

Morning ladies - so nice to see lots of March babies in the making❤️ Had a bit of spotting yesterday when wiping (pink/red watery blood) and some pain on one side so GP spoke to EPU and Im booked in for bloods and scan tomorrow to make sure in right place, but have made me aware may not see anything. I know it is so early days - just want to feel excited but feeling so nervous. Husband keeps telling me to stay positive🤞 First pregnancy so everything is new to me and googling everything to see if it is normal which im not sure is helping😅 finding it hard not being able to speak to my friends and family about it only my husband knows! My symptoms seem to be coming and going too but have a constant headache xx

CaffeinatedLondoner · 02/07/2024 09:30

Just tested positive yesterday (12 DPO). It was planned but only our first month trying so slightly in shock (!). Due roughly mid-March 🤘

Melusina123 · 02/07/2024 09:34

@pinkrose001 I had spotting with my last LO, it turned out to be a subchorionic haematoma, LO was completely fine. Bleeding in early pregnancy can be a lot of things, some bad, some neutral. Fingers crossed everything looks good at your scan!

ButItHasCheese · 02/07/2024 10:00

@PregnantNowScrewed they're routinely offered where I am if you're over 36... likely won't get one if the NIPT is ok; but if it's not then I'll probably go for it...

PregnantNowScrewed · 02/07/2024 10:20

@ButItHasCheese are you in the U.K.? I’ve never heard of this.

ButItHasCheese · 02/07/2024 10:55

@PregnantNowScrewed no, I'm in Asia (so heavily privatised route - which reassures me and worries me in equal parts)
First DC was in London though, so I'm still trying to figure out what the options look like elsewhere

PregnantNowScrewed · 02/07/2024 11:53

Ah I see. It’s definitely not offered here as standard, but I’m sure that’s just because the NHS is cash strapped! Though tbh I have private treatment due to recurrent miscarriages and they don’t offer it either.

I know that the risks increase in late 30s but my understanding is that they really ramp up in the 40s. Im possibly a bit blasé though because in my circles most people have their first child in mid-late 30s with subsequent kids early 40s. I had dc1 at 31 and most of his friends’ parents are 5-10 years older.
