Hello!

I know there are quite a few threads like this, but thought I’d start a new one for those of us going through this just now šŸ™‚

I found out about my MMC at what should have been 7.5 weeks (no growth since 5). Had to have a D&C as my body wouldn’t let go. That was back in mid-April.

I’ve had one period since then and it now looks like I’m pregnant again! Can’t believe we’ve been so luckily to fall again so quickly.

Got a vfl yesterday at 10dpo and the line is a bit darker today at 11dpo. Pic attached has 11dpo at the top and 10dpo bottom. What a shock when I saw that line!

Anyway, I’m already feeling nervous about everything so I thought I’d make a space for people in a similar position to join. Maybe we can help to calm each others’ nerves a bit šŸ’œ

@purplecolouroffunk
PS. I'm from Edinburgh! Lived there till I was 28. Small world šŸ’œ

purplecolouroffunk · 25/06/2024 11:16

@KittyFantastica sadly when I was in for my MMC they made it very clear that they won’t offer early scans until you’ve had 3 MCs šŸ˜ž

But like you say they will help if you have bleeding or pain. I had spotting from about 4dpo-10dpo and then it stopped. I get that every month in the run up to AF so I’m thinking it was breakthrough bleeding. I think I’ll call them anyway and tell them that, but I suspect they’ll say only call back if the spotting starts again.

They also found a cyst when they discovered my MMC. They said they’d follow up after 12 weeks for another scan which is actually next week, so maybe that gives me reason to call them too cause I’ve not heard anything.

@CosmicLove thank you! I think it’s worth a call anyway since I did have spotting, and yes you’re right, means I’m not lying šŸ™‚

Aw no way, nice to see another Scot here! That’s funny you’re from Edinburgh too šŸ˜

I realise it might be different in different areas @purplecolouroffunk but my EPU told me to contact them if I ever got pregnant again and they'd scan me early because I'd had two losses. They also scan people for pain and bleeding, have you had any?

I also had private scan last time and it was fine. They couldn't tell me anything conclusive because they are not the nhs and therefore not diagnostic, but I could see what was what from it. It did what I needed it to.

I'm sorry you're not feeling great, it's like the moment we find out the joy of a positive test lasts about a day and then the anxiety hits you like a bus.

Just to reassure people, my tests all looked the same between 16DPO and 23DPO. Test line about as dark as control line. I got a proper dye stealer yesterday on 25DPO. I haven't worried about it much this time as last time I had clear dye stealers from 20DPO and it ended in MMC. I only continued to test so I could be prepared if it was another chemical as the line changes don't do much to reassure me.

How are you @KittyFantastica ? You are absolutely right that positive test is followed by anxiety for those with losses. How are you doing? Have you done any HCG tests or scans? There really is nothing but time to reduce anxiety is there.

Bubbles19818 · 25/06/2024 11:57

@torturedpoet13 @Mommabear96 welcome :-)

I am 19dpo today and trying not to think about what this translates to into a due date. Still obsessively peeing on sticks (attached this mornings which looks the same as two days ago and yesterdays) and waiting for the follow up from my second HCG blood draw I had done on Sunday. So nervous, keep checking my phone every few mins šŸ™„

@purplecolouroffunk in my pregnancy that ended in my son I had two early reassurance scans at different private clinics and then another two with the pregnancy that ended in a MMC. I had a positive experience all times and liked that you got photos and a report to take away. One of them (ultrasound direct) gives you videos too which was lovely as I had that one at almost 9 weeks so could see the little limbs moving around. I’m not sure if you get a scan photo from the EPU, but appreciate it’s not cheap going for an early scan

I've burst into tears this morning. I joined a WhatsApp group from Mumsnet due date group. I mentioned about having no symptoms at all and someone said they are absolutely sure everything is fine and that they're jealous. I'm sure they didn't mean to make me upset and I'm sure I'm sensitive, but I burst into tears. I also realised before this whole thing that I had to leave the group as the only thing they're talking about are all the symptoms they're having! Of course it totally makes sense to have safe space to talk about everything but it's making me so anxious, but I didn't appreciate being told they're jealous!

Anyway maybe this is my symptom!

Bubbles19818 · 25/06/2024 12:23

@Lemonbalm8 I’m so sorry, although being tearful is def a symptom šŸ˜‰

Was the group chat a general Feb chat? If so, then there will be such a variance of how far along people are on that chat that of course some people will have symptoms as they’ll be 6+ weeks. I don’t have any symptoms aside from being tired, but even then I said to my husband last night I’m always tired as our son is still a rubbish sleeper so I have no idea if I’m any more tired now I’m pregnancy than I was 2 weeks ago šŸ˜‚ I know it’s hard not to worry and I’m with you there 100% as I feel sick with nerves the whole time, but truly symptoms before 6 weeks are so uncommon and anything you’re feeling at this stage is just linked to increased progesterone so is normally sleepiness or bloating/changes to bowel movements.

This feels like a lovely and safe space to chat about our pregnancies, especially this early on. I think people who haven’t experienced loss just don’t know what it feels like so maybe general chats at this stage will be more anxiety producing than they are helpful.

purplecolouroffunk · 25/06/2024 12:24

@Bubbles19818 I feel ya on the stick peeing! I did another one at 17dpo this morning which is looking good, so I think I'm going to stop now and just accept that I'm pregnant šŸ˜…Ahh that must be nerve wracking for you - let us know when you hear anything!

I'm glad to hear you had good experiences with your private scans. There seem to be so many mixed reviews but I think I've found one that looks okay. That's sweet that you get images etc. Definitely up for just paying the cost of the private scan, so I think that's what we'll do.

Oh @Lemonbalm8 I'm sorry. I've found that a lot on Mumsnet. I joined a due date group before my MMC and a lot of the conversation was about symptoms.

If it helps I really don't have any symptoms either. Very vaguely sore boobs is the only thing I'm feeling just now. Being weepy could definitely be a symptom for you though!

I'm sorry lovely ā¤ļø I'm with you on the tearful though! And I agree with Bubbles and Purple - I'm sure it's a symptom. If it's any reassurance, I don't have any other symptoms yet either. Go easy on yourself and nothing wrong with having a good cry when you need to! xx

Lemonbalm8 · 25/06/2024 12:52

@Bubbles19818 good strong line! Good luck with the HCG tests šŸ¤žšŸ»

Thank you everyone. Yes it was general Feb chat and most were 7+, so in the middle of some tough nausea. Awww yes as soon as I had a cry, I did feel better. I also had a tiny bit of nausea just now, maybe I'm manifesting symptoms now šŸ™ˆ I'm on bunch of meds this time, so feeling a bit sorry for myself having to do daily injections and not having symptoms is just so odd for me, but I've read both good and bad stories, so it's just waiting time and hoping I get to have my little baby in the end. I know no matter what happens I want to have some hope and positivity.

V1kster88 · 25/06/2024 14:29

Popping in with utter trepidation.

Found out in late April that baby was measuring a couple of weeks behind. Started to miscarry in early May. That was my 3rd pregnancy and I really didn’t anticipate anything going wrong after two healthy babies previously (Boy 16 yrs and girl 16 months), so it came as a big shock to miscarry at 9 weeks.

Had one cycle after that, which seemed extra long, but have been getting faint positives on strips since Sunday now. Was worried that they aren’t getting any darker so I took a Clearblue Digital this afternoon (so not FMU) and it’s come back as Pregnant 2-3. My app says I should be 3 weeks 4 days so I’m hoping it means my levels are good!

Have bouts of nausea here and there but nothing major. Have been having quite bad cramps though, which worries me. Haven’t registered with the hospital yet though as it feels too early. Taking each day as it comes, or trying to at least!

Hope you are all keeping well and congrats on your positives!

@Lemonbalm8 I’m sorry, it’s tough ā˜¹ļø I haven’t joined a due date group yet, I can’t bring myself to! I think most of the people here are in the no-symptoms-yet boat so we totally understand how anxiety inducing it is šŸ’œ

CosmicLove · 25/06/2024 15:41

@V1kster88 welcome! I'm so sorry for your loss. My MMC came after a healthy pregnancy (DD is 18 months) so it completely blindsided me - I know how you feel. Good to have you on board and congratulations on your BFP! ā¤ļø I've been having quite a lot of cramping (along with some spotting) and my EPU said that it was very normal to have cramps in early pregnancy. The nurse said she'd only be worried about cramps if they weren't being relieved by paracetamol. Mine haven't even been bad enough to merit paracetamol so hoping that's a good sign! Xx

I'm exactly the same. I joined a due date FB group in March and then had my loss in April. Too scared to even look for one this time round! 😬

Bubbles19818 · 25/06/2024 16:12

Just had my second HCG blood back and it’s got me into a right tizz. Results doubled in 55hrs and whilst it says 48-72hrs is normal in the early weeks, everything I’ve read online says the higher you go above 50 the less likely it’s a viable pregnancy. Wish I’d never done the tests as I now feel so sick. Just had a little cry in the loos at work 😭

I'm so sorry the HCG results got you anxious. I did HCG last time, mine were 33 hours, 65 hours and then 72 hours, all within 23 dpo. If you want, you can do one more test, but I would only be worried if it's closer to 72 hours to be honest. I know it's easier said than done.
The first story on Reddit if you search Google "doubling time 55 hours" is a success story. Only seek out success stories. Your doubling time is good, it's bang in the normal. If there are many success stories, there is a good chance. And nothing is written, even if slower rise. We only know more later at scan times. If you can find a way to keep calm, just keep trying to find good stories and print them out and try to keep up the hope. Again I'm so sorry you're worried, I've been there, it's horrendous. I decided not to do HCG for that reason this cycle, but there is no right/wrong, it's just what we can do to keep calm(ish).

Bubbles19818 · 25/06/2024 20:44

@Lemonbalm8 - thank you. I know it’s ridiculous because it’s in the normal range, but I don’t think I would have been happy with anything but 48hrs or less…I knew I shouldn’t have done the test but was stressing over my lines so thought it would help / reassure.

I have found a lot of positive stories on Reddit, but also a lot of negative stories too. I keep also trying to remind myself that people who have really fast doubling times also have miscarriages too.

Gaahhhhhh pregnancy after loss absolutely sucks. I hope everyone is having better evenings xx

Persipan · 25/06/2024 21:01

Sorry your test results were stressful, @Bubbles19818 - thinking of you and I hope all is well.

My scan is booked in with my clinic for 16 July (7+4) which is both a perfectly sensible time for it and also a really long time away, so we'll see how I hold out over that time.

It's not ridiculous at all. I know well the feeling. Might it help to book in an early scan?

That's great!
I've booked mine on 8th July when I should be 6+5. I am wondering whether to push it back but I already feel like it's too long away. Also doing a scan beginning of the week feels scary, maybe at least Thursday or Friday just to have the weekend to recover whichever way it goes.

purplecolouroffunk · 25/06/2024 21:49

@Bubbles19818 I’m so sorry the test levels are making you anxious. I have no experience of having hCG tested so I probably don’t have anything particularly insightful to say, but from what Lemon said it definitely sounds like it’s in the normal range! So sorry that it’s causing you stress though šŸ’œ

@Persipan and @Lemonbalm8 I’m glad you have your scans booked! I called the EPU this afternoon and then missed their call back by milliseconds and by time I’d listened to their voicemail they’d closed for the day, boo. Going to call again in the morning.

Has anyone has experience of ovarian cysts and gone back to have them checked?

When they found my MMC they also found a cyst - they said they weren’t worried but that I’d need to go back in 12 weeks to have it checked. 12 weeks in next week but I haven’t heard anything! Going to ask EPU about that tomorrow too.

If they had me in to check that, surely they could check my pregnancy at the same time? Although I’d be between 5-6 weeks so still in that scary period where you can’t see much. Ugh.

MrsB2019x · 26/06/2024 07:11

Sorry your test results have left you stressed @Bubbles19818 Like you say it’s within the normal range and closer to 48 than 72 but it’s hard to think rationally when we’re so anxious. I hope you’re feeling a bit better today.

@purplecolouroffunk Hopefully ovarian cysts will be enough for EPU to get you seen šŸ¤ž

Got my scan this morning and feeling wobbly! I’m only 5 weeks today so I know we won’t see much but they just want to make sure it’s in the right place because of spotting and previous ectopic. I’ll update here afterwards 😬

purplecolouroffunk · 26/06/2024 08:07

@MrsB2019x good luck with the scan! You are spearheading the way for all of us šŸ˜€šŸ’œ
