BFP after recent loss

Hello!

I know there are quite a few threads like this, but thought I’d start a new one for those of us going through this just now šŸ™‚

I found out about my MMC at what should have been 7.5 weeks (no growth since 5). Had to have a D&C as my body wouldn’t let go. That was back in mid-April.

I’ve had one period since then and it now looks like I’m pregnant again! Can’t believe we’ve been so luckily to fall again so quickly.

Got a vfl yesterday at 10dpo and the line is a bit darker today at 11dpo. Pic attached has 11dpo at the top and 10dpo bottom. What a shock when I saw that line!

Anyway, I’m already feeling nervous about everything so I thought I’d make a space for people in a similar position to join. Maybe we can help to calm each others’ nerves a bit šŸ’œ

@Lemonbalm8 I'm so sorry how worrying for you. I hope it's settled down for you and you're ok 🩷

torturedpoet13 · 13/07/2024 10:25

@Lemonbalm8 thinking of you, hope all is okay ā¤ļø

Lemonbalm8 · 13/07/2024 12:26

Thank you ladies!
The earliest EPU will see me is Monday afternoon. So no answers this weekend. I'm just expecting the worst, but the bleeding is less than last night. I don't know if I take comfort in that because it can just come back later. Argh

CosmicLove · 13/07/2024 12:59

@Lemonbalm8 glad to hear it's slowed a little. And good that you're seeing EPU on Monday. I'm sorry it's not sooner though. What a worry for you. I hope you can have a relatively restful weekend and look after yourself. Big hugs ā¤ļø xx

MrsB2019x · 13/07/2024 21:40

Hope you’re doing okay @Lemonbalm8 🩷

Lemonbalm8 · 14/07/2024 12:07

Morning! I am fine, I am having a rather busy weekend, as my partner is sick, so no breaks to think too many bad thoughts. I bled most of Friday, but since then I've just been spotting brown blood. I have a scan tomorrow afternoon. I guess I'll be completely terrified before it 😩 will update you all in any case.

purplecolouroffunk · 14/07/2024 12:12

Glad to hear the bleeding has calmed down @Lemonbalm8. What an anxious time for you, I’m so sorry. It’s a great sign that it’s slowed down though. Hopefully the EPU will be able to shed some light for you tomorrow, and I’m glad you’ve got a busy weekend to keep you distracted šŸ’œ

@Lemonbalm8 im in the same boat at the moment similar timing too with the spotting/bleeding. Im really struggling to stay positive and also terrified to get a scan.

Mines brown and clots and wiping clear in between. Different to last time but fearing it gets heavier and redder like last timešŸ˜”

Im so glad that it has eased for you and im hoping it stays awayšŸ’–šŸ¤žšŸ¼ just know that you're not alone and i hear and feel your pain too. I hope everything goes well for you tomorrow ā¤ļø

Thinking of you both @Lemonbalm8 and @Beks96 🩷 hope it calms down for you!

MrsB2019x · 14/07/2024 13:40

I got my email to set me up for Badger Notes today so it’s all starting to feel a bit real. Hopefully that means I’ll get my booking appt soon!

Urgh I also dread going to the bathroom.
With my son, I bled at 7+2, which coincidentally is when I did with this pregnancy also, exactly at 7+2. I suppose what I mean is not all bleeding is bad. That's what I hope is the case this time. This time though I constantly worry about lack of symptoms, how can this end well...
Thank you for support. I hope all goes ok with you too. Do you have any scan booked? How long have you had this?

Lemonbalm8 · 14/07/2024 17:12

Thank you @purplecolouroffunk @MrsB2019x

@Lemonbalm8 I started spotting beginning of last week, at 5+2, lasted 3 days, once in the morning. Had a break until this week, I've been spotting very slightly and dark brown since Tuesday but it ramped up Friday, had a bit of a more red blood and a clot. It seems to have slowed now but it's not much comfort, it's all brown again now. I'm 7+1 today.

Last time, my MC at 8 weeks, I was bleeding in between and pink when I wiped every time but it isn't just yet. I'm preempting itšŸ˜–

Interesting that you bled with your son at the same time, was it similar to what you're experiencing now? I've read sooo much about people experiencing these things. Even lots of blood and big clots and having a healthy baby. I did have a SCH last time, which the doctor said should go and all should be fine, but obviously it didn't work out that way. It works out fine for most pregnancies though.

I'm with you with the lack of symptoms. I had all the symptoms consistently last time. This time I've been having them come and go. It's exhausting to keep up with ā˜¹ļø

I haven't got a scan booked yet, I have just started a new job and have already took time off for an appointment. I think a private scan would be more convenient at a weekend or evening but then again I'd prefer to be at EPU if things continue. I am just trying to put the little faith I have left in my body at the min šŸ˜–

With my son, it was even more and longer, like a week of bleeding, not all day but every day, every time I went to the bathroom. I was sure it wasn't going well. But it was ok and they didn't even find sch at the scan.
Have you ever had a scan in this pregnancy? Just to be sure it's in the right place?
It is so easy to go down the path of googling people who are similar and how things end up for them. I just feel like I can't get a break. I'm trying so hard to enjoy and be positive, it's all I wanted 😢
If it's brown, and it didn't progress quickly to lots of bleeding, there is a good chance it's sch. That's what I keep telling myself.

Beks96 · 14/07/2024 18:38

@Lemonbalm8 oh wow, I think it can be so normal. One of my partners friends bled throughout the entire 9 months, on and off. Even seen stories as much as golf ball sized clots, although that is obviously rare (you can tell I've been googling too muchšŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø)

I would say with you having that experience with your son, and also with your positive scan, it may not be anything at all to worry about. But I know how hard it is after a loss, and the anxiety will never go awayšŸ˜–

I rang the EPU when I first spotted last week, they didn't get back to me at all to offer a scan, even after me chasing up. I wasn't cramping then but I'd have thought with a previous loss they'd have got me in. I went at 6 weeks last time and there was a heartbeat, then went back at 8 and there wasn't. I just have a really bad anxious tie to the EPU and the TV scans, I'm trying to protect my peace as much as poss. I was a WRECK last time with it being the first and I was losing my job, life was a bit all over the place. Just trying to stay as calm as I possibly can this time around.

There is a really high chance it is sch, they are not normal but way more common than people think. Sending out so much positivity and calm vibes. I'll be thinking of you tomorrowšŸ’– I have my booking appt tomorrow. I will mention all of this and see if they can maybe nudge the EPU for me.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate your support. And right back at you, hope they give you some reassurance tomorrow. I also have booking appointment on Wednesday, I keep thinking what if it's not ok. But I promised myself, I'll try to keep thinking positive thoughts until if and when something else happens. @Lemonbalm8 no thank you so much too, it's so good to have this support network, of people who truly get itšŸ’–

I know how hard it is, and literally alllll my effort is going into this, but take it day by dayšŸ’– everything crossed šŸ¤žšŸ¼šŸ¤žšŸ¼šŸ¤žšŸ¼

purplecolouroffunk · 14/07/2024 19:05

@Beks96 hope you’re doing okay. You’re totally right about what you said - spotting/bleeding is definitely associated with successful pregnancies too. It’s always so scary to see though.

That really sucks that the EPU didn’t follow up with you. Hopefully you’re able to chat things through at your booking appointment.

Here’s something I’m probably overthinking…

When I went in for my scan on Thursday I expected to be 6+5 based on ovulation strips. The EPU dated me at 6+2. I’m not worried about that cause they’re not worried, and they discharged me.

They also said the foetal pole measured at 6mm which when I checked online is pretty much bang on for expected at 6+5.

So now I’m wondering where the discrepancy has come from? I wonder why they’re dating me at 6+2 if FP is expected size for my dates? They didn’t mention anything about the gestational sac size or anything.

I don't really have any advice on this but when I went for my scan the consultant first dated me at 5+5, and I said I can't be as I know when I ovulated, he said he'd measure again after he'd done his checks and he did and then 5 mins later I was 6+5, which is 2 days less than I thought. But it's such a huge jump to what he said first that I think it's so small even if they miss the tiniest bit then it's gonna be a few days out!

purplecolouroffunk · 14/07/2024 19:16

@torturedpoet13 thank you - that makes sense! It was also a trainee doing the scan. She was brilliant and had a fully trained sonographer there too but I guess the measurements could be a little bit off.

OP posts:
jellyfish2 · 14/07/2024 19:18

@purplecolouroffunk I really think the measurements are so so tiny that its easy to get it wrong at that stage. The sonographers probably don't even consider how much we analyse everything and worry so much. To them measurements are fine and all looks good so need to focus on that 😊 (I'd be the same as you though).

purplecolouroffunk · 14/07/2024 19:28

@jellyfish2 you’re right. The measurements are soo tiny!

Feel a bit better now, thanks everyone. I think because things are okay for now and I feel like everything is going too well that I’m trying to find something to fixate on šŸ™ƒ

I have my 8 week scan a week today and starting to get a bit nervous already. I know a few of you here found out about an MMC at around 8 weeks so I’m trying not to spiral into thinking the same will happen to me.

OP posts:
Lemonbalm8 · 14/07/2024 19:33

@purplecolouroffunk I was measuring 5.7 mm at 6+2, and they put as 6+1, so I think your measurements are perfect.

purplecolouroffunk · 14/07/2024 19:40

@Lemonbalm8 oh that’s good to hear. I wonder if it’s just developing ever so slightly slower. I know when I ovulated and we only had sex once in that fertile window oddly enough, so I’m pretty certain on dates. Will see how things line up next Sunday when I should be 8+1 :)
