Hello!

I know there are quite a few threads like this, but thought I’d start a new one for those of us going through this just now šŸ™‚

I found out about my MMC at what should have been 7.5 weeks (no growth since 5). Had to have a D&C as my body wouldn’t let go. That was back in mid-April.

I’ve had one period since then and it now looks like I’m pregnant again! Can’t believe we’ve been so luckily to fall again so quickly.

Got a vfl yesterday at 10dpo and the line is a bit darker today at 11dpo. Pic attached has 11dpo at the top and 10dpo bottom. What a shock when I saw that line!

Anyway, I’m already feeling nervous about everything so I thought I’d make a space for people in a similar position to join. Maybe we can help to calm each others’ nerves a bit šŸ’œ

Hi ladies can I join?
11dpo and got a positive test today. Very apprehensive as it's #2 but had a MMC in Feb, had to have surgical management after finding out at the 12 week scan baby had no heartbeat.
Forth Valley is my trust too! I'm going to cross my fingers that everything is ok and phone begging for an early scan as I'm so traumatised about that scan day and the whole experience really. I'm wondering how likely this will be as I've 'only' had one MC but like I say it was so awful and I've been anxious about even falling pregnant again because of it.

Hello! I recognise your username from the September 24 due date group. Gentle congratulations on your new pregnancy, hopefully it’s our turn this time šŸ’œ

@CosmicLove we do actually know who the estate agent is but we’ve never been given a contact there (apart from the negotiator who apparently doesn’t know anything about their search). It's annoying. Their solicitor also works at the estate agent and that’s who our solicitor has been in contact with.

Ah I see. Well I hope things move forward soon for you. I know how stressful it is changing homes while pregnant! ā¤ļø

Welcome @jellyfish2 I'm so sorry for your loss. That must have been beyond devastating to find out at your 12 week scan when you're expecting everything to be okay. I can completely understand why you'd be looking for an early scan this time. Huge congratulations on your BFP and what a small world that we're both in Forth Valley! I've also had one previous loss - a MMC in April. An EPU nurse told me they don't do reassurance scans but they will scan if any pain or bleeding and their "threshold is very low". In other words if you called them with anything like cramps or spotting, and explain your anxiety surrounding your previous loss, I'm sure they would go ahead and book you in. Just be aware they won't scan before 6 weeks. Maybe you could call them during week 5 and see if they'd be okay booking you for the following week? ā¤ļø xx

Thanks @CosmicLove , ideally I'd want a scan around 8 weeks as that's what my little one was measuring, been carrying them 4 weeks completely in a pregnancy bliss thinking all was ok even though I felt horrendous nausea etc. So cruel. Hopefully this little one sticks, im desperate for a sibling for my recently turned 3 year old and wanted a closer gap but wasn't to be. Just grateful to be pregnant again now.
@purplecolouroffunk thank you. It's so sad what we've all been through isn't it. I hope this is it for us all!! Nice to see some fellow Scots on this board too, it's quite rare 🄰
@MrsB2019x I recognise your name too, nice that you're pregnant also. May we all bring home healthy babies.

@CosmicLove how's you bleeding now? I've only scanned through this chat quickly then saw you were forth valley šŸ˜‚

Just did more tests today. I'm 12dpo and period due today. Concerned slightly the easy at home isn't much darker than yesterday but it is from the day before that when it was very faint. Today is my first frer. The bottom one is 25miu so knew it would be faint if it even came up.

CosmicLove · 07/07/2024 08:00

@jellyfish2 it's honestly one of the cruellest things isn't it. I went for a scan at 8 weeks and embryos (twin pregnancy) were only measuring 6 with no heartbeats. Because it's normal to not see a heartbeat at 6 weeks, the couldn't definitively say it had been a loss, in case my dates were out. I had to go back for rescan after 2 weeks so a fortnight of just waiting and hoping that things were okay. I knew they wouldn't be as I was quite sure of my dates and my nausea began to dwindle. I started bleeding at 9+3 before the rescan and had emergency surgical evacuation and blood transfusion. It was terrible so I can completely appreciate your trauma.

I also have a wee one (daughter aged nearly 19 months) and like you, I'd love to give her a sibling. Totally blindsided by the miscarriage as my first pregnancy with her was so straightforward. My bleeding has stopped thankfully! I started spotting at 3+6 the day before my period was due and that lasted 8 days. I called EPU during that spell of spotting and they booked me for a scan at 6 weeks by which time the spotting had resolved. I had that last Thursday and all looking well but unfortunately had a heavy ish bleed and terrible cramps about and hour and a half after the internal scan. It did resolve itself that night and I haven't had anything over the weekend (touch wood). EPU were great and booked me for another scan for tomorrow to make sure the bleeding wasn't anything concerning. Hoping it was just the tv scan and looking more hopeful since it's gone now. They're really lovely at Forth Valley. I've not spoken to a single nurse who wasn't super kind and supportive. I guess it's what you'd hope for in this situation! Xx

jellyfish2 · 07/07/2024 08:14

@CosmicLove that's so scary having to have a transfusion and emergency surgery. Glad you were ok, so sad though and twins as well that must've been a shock. It sounds like it was the scan that's caused that, hopefully is the case but ts reassuring that they're scanning you again on Monday. They were all so lovely at the day surgery ward when I had my surgery and one of the nurses was telling me it happened to her 20 years ago and still remembers it, she said it was identical to my situation. I cried so much because everyone was so nice (and the hormones). When I collected the remains I took flowers to day surgery and the same nurse that discharged me was there and I broke down she was so lovely and remembered me and gave me a cuddle.
How far are you now?

MrsB2019x · 07/07/2024 08:53

Tests are looking great for 12dpo @jellyfish2 šŸ˜

Anyone else still feeling pretty good? I’m tired a lot of the time, and getting really disrupted sleep but I had this with DD, I barely slept a full night throughout the whole pregnancy. Other than that I feel absolutely fine. I’m not taking Pregnacare this time (just folic acid and vit D) which I think is keeping nausea at bay. But it’s not helping the anxiety! Counting down to the scan on Tuesday 😬

Definitely feeling ok after a day of nausea, I've had only 1 day of tiredness so far. I'm also ramping up on anxiety, but my scan is only in 2 weeks. I may book a scan next week, but I wonder if weekly scans are good for my anxiety either. Also I'm not sure it would help me to know 1 week earlier if I had a mc...
Once heartbeat is detected surely the risks are lower, though I know some of us have been there and it's awful, but generally it should be good chances? Ah I wonder if I am having false hopes.
I really hope your scan on Tuesday gives you some calmness. Will you be 7 or 8 weeks? X

CosmicLove · 07/07/2024 09:36

@jellyfish2 that's great that your experience of the ward staff was so positive. They're so lovely and supportive. I'm 6+2 today. Are you about 4 weeks if af was due today? I also think your test lines are looking good for 11/12 dpo šŸ‘

@MrsB2019x I'm also feeling pretty good. I felt quick sick when I woke up and couldn't think of anything I could stomach but that's passed and I'm now eating peanut butter toast and an apple very well after feeling ravenous all of a sudden! I was so nauseous in both my pregnancies by now so I guess I should enjoy it but I can't help but worry! I suppose not all pregnancies are the same though. That sucks you can't get a good nights sleep. Maybe the hormones affecting your sleep? Or the brain on overdrive! 🤯

jellyfish2 · 07/07/2024 09:43

@CosmicLove so I was tracking ovulation and ovulated on the Tuesday so technically 4 weeks on Tuesday. My luteal phase is a little shorter at 11 days.
So this cycle for some reason I didn't ovulate when I normally do, normally it's CD20 but for some reason it was cd31!! If I put my last period down on the booking form for the hospital they'll date me at 6 weeks or something which will not help my anxiety. Do I just tell a white lie about my period and figure out when it should've been based on when I've ovulated this cycle?

jellyfish2 · 07/07/2024 10:25

@MrsB2019x also I meant to say, symptoms really aren't indicative of anything. I felt reassured that I was so ill could barely move from the couch and had really sore boobs but unfortunately my baby had died 4 weeks before me even finding out so it meant absolutely nothing - the symptoms continued til I had my surgery. Please don't worry too much about symptoms 😘

Gosh ovulating at CD31! That's a very long follicular phase. Does that mean if af had come when due, your cycle this month would've been 42 days? That's very long. Must be so frustrating when TTC! I totally understand your anxieties and if you're sure when you ovulated, you could certainly modify your LMP to mean you're dated more in keeping with the timeframe you'd expect. Lots of women become pregnant and don't even know their LMP dates xx

Yeah! I don't know why it was randomly so long. All my cycles are usually pretty bang on 31-32 days and that's long enough. No idea what's caused it so if anyone knows and could give me an idea šŸ˜‚ I was nightshift when I was meant to ovulate in line with all previous cycles but I don't know if it would affect it that much? I think I might need to alter my dates.

@MrsB2019x how far along are you now?

I’m 6+4 today, and now walking round a shopping centre feeling pretty squiffy after eating some lunch. Serves me right for saying I’m not sick 🤣

Bubbles19818 · 07/07/2024 13:48

Welcome @jellyfish2, I’m sorry about your loss and cautious congrats on your pregnancy.

Having had some mild nausea yesterday, back to feeling nothing today so it’s reassuring to hear I’m not the only one! I Also made the mistake of looking at my resting heart rate data on apple health and have noticed it rose just before I found out I was pregnant but started to decline again at the start of this week so have convinced myself this means it’s not going well. Absolutely dreading my scan on Thursday šŸ˜”

Persipan · 07/07/2024 14:53

The slight crampiness I've felt occasionally seems to have dialled up today, and the vague whispers of pink on wiping have also increased to something more noticeable, and all in all I'm not feeling optimistic at all today. And my dad died suddenly a few days ago so that would be about right in terms of the general crappiness of this week.

I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. That must be very difficult. Sending best wishes. Do you have a scan booked? How far along are you? ā¤ļø

Persipan · 07/07/2024 15:19

6+2, scan isn't until 7+4.

KittyFantastica · 07/07/2024 17:06

@jellyfish2! So happy to see you here, another fellow September 2024 leaver :(. Tentative congratulations, those tests are looking fantastic for 12DPO. I've been thinking of you since our TTC conversations last month. Fingers crossed this all goes well.

I'm 7 weeks today and, apart from some constipation and the occasional bit of tiredness, I wouldn't even know I'm pregnant. I've been to the gym 3 times this week, done all the house work and eaten all my usual meals. I'm leaning towards eating more sweet things recently, but that's the only real change.

The follow up to my reactance scan isn't until 19th July, so I feel I'm just twiddling my thumbs waiting to find out if I'll need another medical intervention or to actually prepare for a potential baby. I'm with you all on the anxiety front!

CosmicLove · 07/07/2024 17:16

@Persipan I'm 6+2 today too - snap! I hope the wait isn't too terrible. I think you have a 4yo? Hopefully will help to keep your mind busy ā¤ļø

jellyfish2 · 07/07/2024 17:31

@Bubbles19818 I was trying to figure out how to turn my resting heart rate off for this reason because it was stressing me out. I convinced myself I was out this month as it started to decline and ended up taking it off. I don't think I can turn off the HR thing annoyingly. I've put it back on. With my pregnancy that ended in loss it fluctuated over days it wasn't always the same but overall did remain relatively high compared to normal. After the surgery it just fell off a cliff!

@KittyFantastica so nice to see you here! How are you doing? You said you got pregnant when you ovulated really late before didn't you? I had hoped it would happen and it did 🄰

@Persipan I'm so sorry to hear about your dad.🩷

Bubbles19818 · 07/07/2024 17:40

@Persipan - I am so so sorry about your dad. Sending you so much love x

Lemonbalm8 · 07/07/2024 17:52

@jellyfish2 the lines at dpo 12 are looking great! Just looked back at mine and mine were lighter and they got darker over 16-20 dpo.

@Persipan I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. Hope you have support around to cope, it's awful šŸ˜”

jellyfish2 · 07/07/2024 18:02

@Lemonbalm8 thank you 🄰 I feel like I'm trying not to think about it too much as I can't get excited. I just feel really indifferent at the moment, does anyone else?

It's a horrible feeling but I suppose I'm trying to guard myself. I told my DP about the tests and started with "don't get too excited but" and showed him the tests. He just said something like oh wow and well let's see how this goes. We haven't spoken about it since. I feel like he was really affected by the MMC more than he lets on.

torturedpoet13 · 07/07/2024 18:07

@Bubbles19818 how far will you be at your scan Thursday? I also have a scan Thursday at 11am and I should be 7 weeks but I'm absolutely dreading it 😬

@Persipan so sorry to hear about your dad ā¤ļø
