BFP after recent loss

Hello!

I know there are quite a few threads like this, but thought I’d start a new one for those of us going through this just now 🙂

I found out about my MMC at what should have been 7.5 weeks (no growth since 5). Had to have a D&C as my body wouldn’t let go. That was back in mid-April.

I’ve had one period since then and it now looks like I’m pregnant again! Can’t believe we’ve been so luckily to fall again so quickly.

Got a vfl yesterday at 10dpo and the line is a bit darker today at 11dpo. Pic attached has 11dpo at the top and 10dpo bottom. What a shock when I saw that line!

Anyway, I’m already feeling nervous about everything so I thought I’d make a space for people in a similar position to join. Maybe we can help to calm each others’ nerves a bit 💜

@purplecolouroffunk I know me too. I was saying to my partner - what if I'm only measuring 5 weeks or something and have to go back in 2 weeks for a rescan. Like here we go again 😔 have to try and stay positive 🌈 but my god it's hard xx

@CosmicLove that's exactly it. Last time at both 6+1 and 7+2 they told me I was measuring 5 which is how we knew nothing was progressing and therefore MMC.

Like you said, I'm terrified they'll say something like oh you look like you're around 5 weeks, even though I'm really sure on my dates. Could be negligible dating difference, or could be that things have stopped growing. It's just awful. I'm right there with you.

I'd totally resigned myself to waiting til 8 weeks for a scan and was finally happy with that. Then the stupid spotting has to come back.

@CosmicLove oh the other thing I'm terrified about is them doing an abdominal first, and then having to go to a vaginal. Like they're so unlikely to see anything at this stage with an abdominal? But they've still asked me to come with a full bladder which I don't understand. Did they ask you to do that too?

I know when they inevitably say they're switching to vaginal, and will make me go and pee and come back, that it'll set ALL my anxieties off cause that's what happened last time.

@purplecolouroffunk exactly the same for me. I was 8 weeks and knew when I had to go and empty my bladder for transvaginal scan that it wasn't good news. They've asked me to come tomorrow with full bladder to try abdo scan but inevitably I'll have to go and pee so they can do internal scan. I think as long as we're not expecting too much we'll hopefully not be too disappointed 💜

@CosmicLove it's an awful feeling isn't it. I don't know why they insist on doing both when they know they won't see anything with the abdominal. I half wondered if I should ask them to just go straight for the TV but I guess I'm not the one calling the shots haha.

You're right about keeping expectations low. That's the best way to think about it 💜We're just checking things are in the right place.

@purplecolouroffunk sorry to hear about your spotting but try not to panic (easier said than done!!!) how is it now? Also your dream made me LOL, I also have such vivid dreams when I'm pregnant 🤣 but that one is so funny!

@Lemonbalm8 I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and I don't have very many symptoms except sore boobs and I was sick once yesterday morning, it worries me but I do also know that people have completely healthy pregnancies without any at all - my mum had 5 and breezed through them all! It's really so hard to tell but I also get worried about not having any symptoms also especially after loss and a MMC too it's really hard 💓

@Rockyslife I'm sorry to hear about your losses and I really hope your scan goes well, I have one a week tomorrow when I should be 7 weeks but I'm absolutely petrified too, I don't want to go cos of the nerves! I read you're on progesterone- I started mine yesterday at 5+5 and hoping it helps me but worried incase it masks a MC which is what I've read it can do!

I've been working today 7-6 and I'm doing
The same tomorrow and next week, the rota came out before I knew I was pregnant and I'm absolutely fucked 🤣 I'm lying in bed with my progesterone pessary and my cat purring away on my chest 🐱

@Rockyslife welcome and I'm so sorry for your losses. Sounds like the absence of spotting and cramps could be a good sign for you. Keeping everything crossed this is the one 🤞 it seems to be scan time all round - such an anxious time for everyone. Sending all the best positive vibes out for us all ❤️🌈

I called the EPU this morning and am also waiting to hear back to see if I can have a scan. I've had spotting and clots every first morning wee of this week, and then nothing the rest of the day.

Very similar to what happened last time so I'm not feeling confident at all.

I just want to know what's going on.

I felt so sick yesterday, very nearly threw up. But have been fine today, although tired as have been traveling to/from London from up north. Not used to this and don't know how people do it every day!

I'm hoping everyone who has a scan booked gets the best news possible, I'm so sorry to everyone who's feeling all the anxiety. I'm so sorry that we have to go through this as women as well, got the biggest respect for us all and our bodies. Sending out so much positive energy

@purplecolouroffunk So sorry the spotting has started again, can’t give you a break! Hopefully it’s just baby snuggling right in and getting comfy. Sending you all the positive vibes in the world for a good scan tomorrow 💜 I don’t know why they’re asking you to come with a full bladder, it’s like setting you up for anxiety! Even my 8 week scan with DD was internal 🤨

@Beks96 Sorry you’re having bleeding too. So strange it’s only first thing in the morning. Have they tested you for a UTI? Hope they can get you in for a scan soon.

Been feeling sicky on and off today, and I’m so tired. Hoping that’s a good sign.
One of the children I work with decided to try and run away (towards a main road) so I grabbed him and he started punching me. Luckily only my arm but it’s made me so anxious about work going forward. It’s really not often we have physical incidents at work but it‘s made me quite anxious. Gonna talk to my manager about it tomorrow 😕

@torturedpoet13 been pretty slow today. A bit of beige in my underwear and some v light pink when I wipe but not on every single wipe. I know, what a ridiculous dream 😂

@MrsB2019x thank you! I’m really hoping it’s just snuggling in too. I know, I don’t understand it - they’re never going to see anything with the abdominal. Debating whether to say something ahead of the scan.

@Beks96 I’m sorry about your spotting too. I hope the EPU get back to you soon! It’s so hard to feel confident with loss in the past even if the spotting is unconnected. Sending love 💜

I have had the beige, the pink and small clots Monday, Tuesday and Weds. miraculously have not anything first thing this morning, I'm hoping and praying it's stopped🤞🏼

@MrsB2019x isn't it so strange, almost as if whatever was needing to come out comes out with gravity first thing then that's it all day. But why at night/in the morning😩 it's definitely not a UTI, I had the same thing at 5 weeks last time, they checked me for a UTI and didn't have one. Also not feeling any symptoms of one either, they are a pain! It's not been there this morning, so that lasted 3 mornings. I'm just praying that's it now!

Last time I had a break from it but then bleeding, that increased, during the 7 week mark. I will not rest until these milestones are met, never ending worry isn't it🥲

@Beks96 I know what you mean about milestones, totally get it. My last baby stopped developing at 8.5 weeks so I think I’m going to get a scan at 9 weeks and relax a little more if that’s okay. We found out they passed at our 12 week scan so that’s the big milestone for me. Hopefully you have no more bleeding and little one is just getting super comfy in there 🤞

@Beks96 I hope you hear back from the EPU today. It’s such a horribly stressful time so it would be good to have some reassurance from them.

Milestones are a funny one as originally I kept telling myself if I make it to a 7 week scan I’ll feel more positive (baby stopped growing at 6+3 last time), but now I’m 6 weeks i feel like even a positive scan next week won’t make me feel better. Think I won’t really be able to feel OK until I hit 20 weeks and have the anatomy scan, if I make that far!

6 weeks today and still no symptoms. I know symptoms don’t mean anything really, but I wish there was some way of knowing it was all ok in there.

Good luck @purplecolouroffunk @CosmicLove , hope it goes smoothly! If it helps, I always had TV scans at weeks 5-7, not abdominal, and I would mention you prefer this at the start if possible. Mine just went straight to TV from the beginning, can't even imagine abdominal at this stage.

I know, it's the no-symptoms that completely convince me there is no way it could work. I would probably feel a huge sense of relief after nipt and 12 weeks scan, but I'm with you, I think 20 week scan is when I'll feel like a huge milestone has passed and I'm actually ok to celebrate this much loved baby.

That's me home from scan and delighted to say all went well. Gestational sac in uterus, foetal pole and yolk scan seen, as well as a heartbeat! ❤️ measuring "just under 6 weeks" which is hopefully correct as I'm 5+6 today. I know it doesn't predict what lies ahead, but of all the outcomes I could've hoped for today, this is the most positive. I need to keep telling myself that.
