Hello!

I know there are quite a few threads like this, but thought I’d start a new one for those of us going through this just now šŸ™‚

I found out about my MMC at what should have been 7.5 weeks (no growth since 5). Had to have a D&C as my body wouldn’t let go. That was back in mid-April.

I’ve had one period since then and it now looks like I’m pregnant again! Can’t believe we’ve been so luckily to fall again so quickly.

Got a vfl yesterday at 10dpo and the line is a bit darker today at 11dpo. Pic attached has 11dpo at the top and 10dpo bottom. What a shock when I saw that line!

Anyway, I’m already feeling nervous about everything so I thought I’d make a space for people in a similar position to join. Maybe we can help to calm each others’ nerves a bit šŸ’œ

He's four!

And yep, I had a frozen embryo transfer so I'm still on estradiol and progesterone, which continue until 12 weeks-ish, plus this cycle they added low-dose aspirin from the beginning. Also, I have an MTHFR gene variant that means I don't convert folic acid into folate properly, so I take a more bioavailable form of folate instead.

Wow, did it get easier from 3 to 4? My son is proper threenager, he is very sweet and gentle but just knows exactly what he wants. Is your son starting school in September?
May I ask where you get folate? I also have MTFHR gene mutation (heterozygous), I was prescribed folic acid 5mg but I'm combining with 400miug methylfolate in proceive.

I started listening to the Is It Normal one last time so might pick it up again.

Would 100% recommend Child, it’s a BBC podcast. It talks about all pregnancy, birth, and right up until a child’s first birthday. She speaks to loads of different experts and also sort of links pregnancy in a social context too which is cool. Some of it is really beautiful and brought me to tears!

I found out from listening that you experience more estrogen throughout pregnancy than you do for your entire life combined! Madness.

Ah brilliant I'll check out that podcast. With is it normal, it is only 20 min for weeks 4-6. That's like an eternity for me, I need something to pass time šŸ˜‚

Lemonbalm8 · 27/06/2024 20:52

I found these two podcasts in my search, no idea if any good but thought I'd share here:

It's about pregnancy after loss. I'll probably start on them tonight.

I am 36 which I thought was quite old, but we’ve seen quite a few fertility doctors recently who keep telling me I’m young in fertility years so I’ll take it (even if I don’t believe it)

@Mommabear96 i also have a little boy who will be 2 in September. I think this is my fave stage so far as he’s talking so much now, but I’m starting to get scared of the terrible two’s, especially as he LOVES to tantrum over pretty much anything

I binged the worst girl gang ever after the miscarriage, but I feel like I need to distract myself from pregnancy stuff atm to keep myself sane over the next few weeks. I walk into work most mornings so have started listening to Uncanny which is a podcast about ghost stories. Couldn’t be further from pregnancy šŸ˜‚

purplecolouroffunk · 27/06/2024 21:25

@Bubbles19818 ooh Uncanny sounds good! Love stuff like that.

If anyone needs true crime podcast recommendations, I have a lot šŸ˜‚

Bubbles19818 · 27/06/2024 21:41

@purplecolouroffunk its soooo good. I’ve already made it through 2 series in a week šŸ˜‚ it’s hosted by Danny Robins who has done some other great paranormal podcasts if you’re into that kind of thing

Love a good true crime podcast so def send a few over, although I feel like I’ve listened to them all. I listened to a good one earlier in the year called Ghost Story which is half true crime and half ghost story.

On another note, how is everyone doing on the caffeine front?

I don’t drink coffee but I’m obsessed with peach iced tea and Pepsi Max so I’ve got in some caffeine free P Max and have been limiting myself to a peach iced tea every few days šŸ˜‚

Bubbles19818 · 27/06/2024 21:54

I gave up caffeine when I had my son 2years ago. Had to try a few different bubble teas at work today and totally didn’t connect the dots with it being caffeine and my head was spinning after a few sips 🤪

CosmicLove · 27/06/2024 22:27

I also gave up caffeine when I was pregnant with my daughter in 2022. I have decaf tea and coffee, and I also drink lots of plain sparkling water.

Was very excited to have made it through the whole day with no spotting but unfortunately a wee bit has started up again šŸ˜” wish it would just go away!

It did not get easier, I'm afraid - my small person has in the last few months started to experiment with being CROSS AND ANGRY about basically everything. He is starting school in September so we'll see how that goes... he'll be in quite a small class which I'm hoping might help.

I literally just buy it on Amazon!

Yes my son is much harder to convince now than at 2, and if he doesn't want to do something, you can't just make him do it, including going to nursery some days. Hope it eases up.

I still spot every other day. It is worrying times, I'm hoping it's just irritated cervix.

Lemonbalm8 · 28/06/2024 08:54

@purplecolouroffunk I still have full fat coke every now and then, I don't drink coffee or tea (only herbal tea), so hoping it's ok...
@Bubbles19818 I've never thought of ghost/true crime podcasts. I used to listen to them a lot few years back. I often listen at night and am a bit of a wuss, so I'll leave these for the morning šŸ˜€

CosmicLove · 28/06/2024 09:21

Got 3+ on CB digital this morning! šŸ™Œ Hoping it's a good sign and I'm going to leave it there. No more testing!

Experienced my first ever signs of spotting last night, so am feeling a bit more anxious today. I feel a bit squeamish as well, which is very weird for me, almost like my mind has an aversion to the potential of seeing blood? Never had anything like it before, so it's been interesting.

In terms of caffeine, I could probably do better at cutting more out. I don't drink coffee, but I'm a soft drink fiend. I have as many decaf teas as I want per day and try to limit my soft drink intake to one or two a day.

CosmicLove · 28/06/2024 10:44

Hi @KittyFantastica so sorry to hear you're feeling anxious about spotting. It's totally understandable. I've been spotting since last Thursday so I can very much relate to the anxiety it brings. It seems to be coming and going, and each time I see a bit more after a period of nothing, I think "this is it, this is the bleeding starting". Thankfully it's stayed light and my EPU nurse said spotting can be a very normal part of early pregnancy. I think even just the shift in our hormones can bring it on. It's still hard not to worry and think the worst though. Are you under the care of EPU and do you have an early scan booked? Apologies if you've said already - it's hard keeping track šŸ˜…
Sending love ā¤ļø

Great! I think it's a good sign things are moving in the right direction. Honestly though I feel relief binning the tests šŸ˜‚

How many weeks are you? There is a big hormone shift around 6-7 weeks. I had bleeding with my son starting mid of week 6 and at 7+2 saw his heartbeat at epu. Spotting is not great for the mind, but seems normal.

KittyFantastica · 28/06/2024 15:18

Thanks @CosmicLove and @Lemonbalm8 I am feeling a little better now. Still a bit squeamish feeling, but otherwise calm now. I keep reminding myself that there's nothing I can do, so just have to hold on and hope. It was only a little bit and it seems to have stopped now, so I'll take that as my sign to chill out and accept it can be normal.

Love seeing your 3+ today, @CosmicLove! I hope you feel reassured by it 🄰 Sorry to see you've been spotting too, but as everyone says it can all be very normal. If only we had a little window to what's going on in there!

And @Lemonbalm8 really interesting to hear about the hormone shift. I'm 6+1 today, no symptoms or anything at all so I don't even feel pregnant. I do have a scan booked, but I'm keeping it on the low as I find them extremely traumatic after my last two losses and probably won't be ready to talk about it for a bit šŸ˜…

CosmicLove · 28/06/2024 16:04

@KittyFantastica I know, it would be so much better if we knew what was going on in there! I'm glad your spotting has lessened and you're feeling a bit less worried about it. That's completely understandable about your scan. Know we're here for support if / when you want to chat about it ā¤ļø

purplecolouroffunk · 29/06/2024 09:50

Hope you’re doing okay @KittyFantastica, I’m sorry to hear the spotting has brought on some anxiety. As a chronic spotter I totally relate.

@CosmicLove yay on your test! Good idea to stop though. I’m going to do a Clearblue today as one last test to keep it as a sort of memento that isn’t just a strip test, whatever happens in this pregnancy.

I’m off to a family do today and we’re going to tell my mum and dad. Going a bit early to catch them alone. We’re very close and we told them about everything last time and they were just amazing. Feels scary saying it out loud again though!

@purplecolouroffunk thank you šŸ’œ good luck today telling your mum and dad! It will definitely make it feel more real xx

CosmicLove · 29/06/2024 16:31

I think you had a scan today @Lollypop25
Hope everything went well. Sending best wishes ā¤ļø xx

purplecolouroffunk · 29/06/2024 21:13

Thank you @CosmicLove! It went really well šŸ™‚ It’s my mum’s birthday today so I just put a wee p.s I’m pregnant (again) at the bottom of the card. She and my dad are delighted!

I am so so tired this evening. Have lots of family round and feel like I can barely keep my eyes open now, it’s almost making my head swimmy as weird as that sounds šŸ˜‚

Have also had some cramps which panicked me a bit, but they’re very light. A wee bit like the normal warning cramps that my period is coming. Has anyone else been getting cramps?

I’m 5 weeks today and my last pregnancy ended at around 5 weeks before it was picked up later as an MMC so it’s an anxious time.

OP posts:
CosmicLove · 29/06/2024 21:30

@purplecolouroffunk that's great and what a lovely birthday present for your mum! I'm also feeling exceptionally exhausted today. Hoping to go to bed soon! Sleep well xx
