@Redheadx you too! Well it's my third so I don't think they engage until labour but I'm not sure. The midwife did say she's very low and my pelvis is very full. She had hiccups last night and I could feel them in my vagina 😂 is this your first?

Ahh I see! Oh hiccups in the vagina sound very interesting lol… yes this is my first so it’s all new to me. I feel like everyday I learn something new. My midwife is confident I will be able to go on my own but won’t let me go passed 41+3 so I’m now thinking oh that is not long to go lol

15rainbow · 14/06/2024 13:25

Our daughter finally arrived yesterday lunchtime 3 days after my waters broke. I was induced in the end as labour just wouldn't get started and she was born 13 hours later. Got a bit scary at the end when her baseline heart rate was really high and my temperature spiked so we had to rush off to theatre for a forceps delivery. We both have to stay in hospital for a few days to be treated for infections but we are doing well. Congratulations to all the other babies born and good luck to the once arriving imminently

Suchardchoccy · 14/06/2024 13:26

@Anxiousheartbeat let's hope you go naturally very soon! It would be nice to avoid a sweep but will happily take it when it's offered 😂
My midwife thinks the cramps I've been having are everything getting ready and my cervix thinning etc

Ah okay yes I think subsequent babies don't engage until labour, they "float" or that's what I've been told/read. It's not long no but possibly plenty of time for baby to come!

Anxiousheartbeat · 13/06/2024 21:55

Now she’s parting so hard I can’t sleep 🤣 so all is fine - the magic of toblerone

good luck to everyone who has a baby tonight!

Yeess, that's what I wanted to hear! The same happened to me (the night party😂) I hope you could sleep well in the end!

I have my induction date scheduled: next Monday. Everyone around me is very optimistic that I will start labor naturally before then: husband, doula, friends... But I just don't see any signs!! I feel I should be optimistic too, but I just feel tired and scared 😞How can I feel better? Any suggestions?

Congratulations to everyone with their babies 💐💖

Suchardchoccy · 14/06/2024 17:16

@Anxiousheartbeat I'm glad baby ended up having a party! It's always the way 😂

@MsNeis I'm the same, anxious for labour to start but also terrified to have to go through it again. I suppose we have to focus on the end result 🩷🩵

I have just had another Clary sage and Jasmine oil bath

I picked all mine before conception but I did have some doubts on this third one, I think we're settled on it now tho!

I had two favs picked out for years which DH also liked….. we told one to my FIL who instantly went “noooooo I had a crazy great aunt with that name who was horrible to everyone!” Ruined. Ruled it out and said we wouldn’t share any other names.
now the second fav DH has realised is the same name as his boss’ daughter. He’s close with his boss so thinks it’s weird and wants to rule it out.

there were a few others we both liked but now we both seem to be struggling and have gone off them all!

Ohhh this is what happened to me with the third one, my MIL and SIL said it's too similar to my name (they're Spanish so maybe it is similar to them) that was earlier in the pregnancy tho so since then we've just been telling people we're not sure until we meet her. It's so annoying when you tell someone to share it with them and they just voice their opinion and ruin it! We've decided to call her that name anyway because it's what we had our hearts set on and Idc if they think it's similar to mine - they named my DH the same name as his father 🤔
It's so difficult isn't it. I think if you both really love it then just go with it, it's your baby! I understand the boss thing if he's close with them ah it's so difficult!! I personally find girls names easier than boys - I only had one boys name picked out and I've had 3 girls names from the start!

Ahhh that’s so annoying and such a double standard if your husband is a junior!!😂😂🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
kudos for you for going with it anyway, I don’t think we will it’ll definitely play on my mind - mentally I’ve accepted it’s not that one!
I think now it’s just the struggle of finding replacements that don’t feel like replacements if that makes sense.

Mountainview8 · 15/06/2024 12:10

We had boy and girl names, I changed my mind a couple of times on the boy name, but once he was born I was happy with the name I had in mind later in pregnancy. I didn't tell anyone the names, in case I decided it didn't suit them, but also didn't want people's opinions.

oop · 15/06/2024 12:57

Congratulations @15rainbow ! Sorry to hear it was a bit scary at the end, at least you can now enjoy those newborn cuddles!

I know haha!! If they say it again when we name her I'll just make a comment about their names being VERY similar 🤣 yeah I understand, it's difficult if you had your hearts set on it too, like it feels that's just who she is? Yeah you need to find a name that you love just as much and that feels like her - maybe it will happen when you see her!

Congratulations @15rainbow 🥳 I'm sorry I didn't see your update yesterday!!

MrsTeepee · 15/06/2024 14:02

@Anxiousheartbeat - thanks, thankfully the newborn will get my immunity to chickenpox so should be ok, it's just a pain in the bum sorting childcare for our toddler now! Grandparents (who were on standby in case I went into labour before my c section) have decided they don't want to risk being around us as FIL is immune compromised. Trying to sort a back up plan with friends instead, or get my mum to come stay earlier.

Hope you don't have too much longer to wait. Apparently 50% of second time babies arrive by 40+3 and 50% of first time babies arrive by 40+5... The odds are in your favour at least 😊

@15rainbow Congratulations! Hope you're recovering ok from the delivery and infection, hopefully the newborn cuddles help you both recover quickly!!

glasshalffull0 · 15/06/2024 17:15

Did people in general get signs labour was close and how long did it take? I've been losing big clumps of my mucus plug for about 4 days now, I keep getting mild period cramps on and off and there's a lot of pressure when I walk but it doesn't feel like I'm any closer to going into labour! I'm not 40 weeks for another 2 weeks but it feels like its going to be the longest 2 weeks of my life!

That feels very labour-y to me! I never lose any plugs/water until I’m crowning so quite jealous of this really! Doesn’t sound like you’ll need to go to 40 weeks

@MrsTeepee im so sorry re childcare logistics - v challenging. Have you managed to find anyone? And thank you for the stats - I am 40+2 tomorrow so really hoping for a Father’s Day baby (sorry I keep saying this I am just so keen). I am not sure I can do another week of school runs with cramps and feeling nervous, and all the mothers asking me how it’s going, and doing terrible parenting with my toddler because I’m just done 🤦🏻‍♀️

@DanisEndo yes I’ve always needed to know the baby’s name asap. This time we went a little rogue so have only told people who I think would know the name and not go “what?!” - it’s been hard as there are 2 pronunciations and DH and I battled hard on which one to use. One sounds nicer/easier but the other is the more widely used one which makes life a bit easier for her I think.

@15rainbow hope you’re having the best newborn snuggles xx well done

Sorry girls looking for reassurance I did the right thing.

40 weeks + 2 and went to the hospital with reduced movements. Baby is ok just very sleepy and comfortable in there. Baby head is now fully engaged yesterday it was only partially.

The midwife advised because I am over my due date she will need to consultant a DR. The DR advised that they can either induce me there and then or come back on Monday for another monitoring and they will do that every couple of days. I will not be allowed to go passed a week on Sunday.

i declined the induction because I still have a week of trying to go natural and the baby had no risks. I am comfortable with my decision but wanted to know your thoughts?

I would have done the same! I’ve had a brutal induction and after that decided I couldn’t do a hospital birth again so had 2 lovely home births after. I think if your baby is happy on monitor it’s better to just wait her out for a bit longer - I’d think about getting a sweep in a few days, and I would just monitor movements/go in any time you’re concerned xx

Faithincats · 16/06/2024 06:13

@Redheadx I also would have declined the induction in these circumstances - you're only just past your due date, after all (which in itself is just an estimate), and it sounds by all accounts like baby is still happy cooking! Well done sticking to your guns.

Also, just to say that it's not for them to "let you" go past a certain day or not; it's your body and your baby, so they should offer their guidance and recommendation but it's ultimately your decision what you are comfortable with and when, and they would need to accommodate that.

After my last midwife appt - when induction was already being mentioned at 40w - I went down a bit of an induction rabbit hole and found these two podcast episodes interesting/useful, in case they can help anyone else in a similar position:

Wow congratulations to all the June babies that have arrived already.
I am 38+4 today, been getting lots of period type pain and tightenings on and off for around 10 days or so but comes to nothing.
I am booked to be induced at 39 weeks (providing a bed is available) feel like I’ve had conflicting advice from midwives so have agreed to induction so I know he’s here and safe. I’ve been told I’m measuring 3 weeks ahead, too much fluid around baby, fluid fine around baby, me not measuring as big as others have said and now they are saying his growth has slowed down so offered the induction. I’m glad I’m not the worrying type of person as all these different opinions aren’t filling me with confidence but I’ve been managing to deal with it and not let it bother me too much.
Be glad when he’s here. Now hoping I don’t need to drip like last time and will only need slight intervention 🤞🏻.

Redheadx · 16/06/2024 10:22

@Faithincats wow thank you for sharing these. I will be listening to them today.

Mountainview8 · 16/06/2024 11:35

@glasshalffull0 I was getting a heavy feeling in my pelvis when walking a couple of weeks before labour, maybe about 4 days before I started feeling pressure on my cervix. Waters started to break and bloody show started on my due date with contractions increasing over the day but he wasn't born until early morning 40+2
