@Shroedy ok perfect, thank you! 😊

UnravellingTheWorld · 08/05/2024 14:09

@Hrttc congratulations! For me, constipation is definitely the worst part of pregnancy. Unfortunately I haven't yet found a really good solution to use while pregnant! Best I can offer is lots of fibre and water, and lots of fruit and/or smoothies.

Coffee does it for me usually, but can't drink too much of that unfortunately 🙈

Catopia · 08/05/2024 16:29

@Daisychain27 I'm 11 weeks as well and have gained 2kg so far, but a lot of my clothes already don't fit (I think I've not gained as much as my size change suggests because of loss of muscle mass in my legs from detraining). I'm still running a bit, but nothing like my normal volume and with far less intensity (I don't have the energy for workouts, I'm just plodding along for the fresh air). I did go swimming this week, which was quite nice, although finding a swimsuit I could still fit into and breathe was a chore. I've stuck a box in the bottom of my wardrobe, and if something does not fit or makes me feel bad I'm chucking it in there the first time I try it on. I'll put it in the loft when it's full, and if they still don't fit properly at a year post-partum I'll walk them out of the door.

@ThatBloatIsBloating I've not dyed my hair but I'm trying to hold out for mat leave: I have a boring formal sensible job where a natural hair colour is expected so am holding out for some fun hair whilst I can! My roots look truly awful though so not sure I'm going to last about 6+ months.

So glad everything went well today @waryandbored

@Hrttc I suffer terribly in pregnancy but I find that I can control it if I eat a bowl of bran flakes everyday, sometimes 2 if I haven’t gone for a few days. Before I realised that, though, I had movicol from the doctor and that definitely got things moving after a few days. Hopefully, things get better for you soon- I feel your pain; it’s the worst thing about pregnancy, for me.

SouthwestSis · 09/05/2024 07:39

@Hrttc welcome! Yes constipation is a problem for me too, I take movicol or cosmocol regularly now to keep it at bay, this also helps prevent you from straining and getting piles! You can buy them both over the counter.

@Cazzy87 it's my scan tomorrow too! Got to juggle getting OH out of work and dropping my toddler with a neighbour then getting into the city where traffic and parking are awful but I am really excited. I'm 12+3 today and I've started telling more people in my life which has been really lovely.

Hrttc · 09/05/2024 10:27

Thankyou for all your responses regarding constipation, hopefully I will get some relief soon! Will definitely try your suggestions. Thankyou :)

ChocolateSaxophone · 09/05/2024 16:58

@Hrttc I had good success with swapping to Weetabix for breakfast, and getting some lovely dark apricots from Holland & Barrett. Nothing like the bright orange supermarket ones. They were... effective 😳

piechipsgravy · 10/05/2024 16:55

So sorry to be TMI but is anyone else having stringy discharge? It's white/off white and odourless but definitely stringy and stretchy and quite thick. Paranoid that it's my mucus plug or something!

ChocolateSaxophone · 10/05/2024 16:57

@piechipsgravy mucus plug is like jelly so it sounds like you're having normal discharge to me!

piechipsgravy · 10/05/2024 17:38

@ChocolateSaxophone thanks! This is similar in texture (not colour thankfully!) to this slime:

Lilac24 · 10/05/2024 20:09

@piechipsgravy yes I’m having exactly the same!

Daisychain27 · 11/05/2024 08:18

Hope everyone is well, had 12 week scan this week and all well here! Finally starting to feel a bit more like myself again 😊

I have a question though, I had my blood tests and screening for Downs etc on the same day as my scan. The midwife said they could take as much as 3 weeks to come back! Do we delay telling people until we get the all clear? The scan didn’t show any concerning measurements but not sure if we were being over cautious by waiting for bloods too?

Wondered if anyone else is undecided on finding out the gender? Me and my partner are torn!! We can see the benefits and cons of both finding out and not finding out…

piechipsgravy · 11/05/2024 09:06

@Lilac24 thanks that's reassuring!

@Daisychain27 I'm glad you're feeling a bit better! We started telling after our scan- to be honest it didn't occur to me that our screening results would be anything other than low risk (naive of me). Luckily our T13/18 was very low and although T21 is slightly higher, that wouldn't affect our decision to continue with the pregnancy anyway. It's a really hard one!

muddlingthrou · 11/05/2024 11:32

@Daisychain27 - just to say they said my screening results might take a while to come back, but they actually arrived in less than a week (and they were low). So it might not be as long a wait as you think!

meepthebeep · 11/05/2024 11:48

@Daisychain27 I had my scan and bloods taken on Tuesday and then results yesterday/Friday via the app my NHS trust uses. I’d read that it would take longer and be via letter if they were low risk and quicker via phone call if they were higher risk, but mine were low, thankfully, just quicker than I was expecting.

UnravellingTheWorld · 11/05/2024 13:16

Hi ladies! We're having lovely weather here - hope you all are enjoying it too! I just remembered something that helped with constipation last pregnancy. A simple bowl of porridge - make it a bit thicker than normal, then mix in a little actimel pot. Very good for bowel movements, and actually delicious as well.

piechipsgravy · 11/05/2024 21:05

Looks like we're nearly ready for thread 4! Does anyone want to start it off (I will if there's no takers)

MrsS11 · 12/05/2024 06:48

@piepiechipsgravy you'll know if it's your mucus plug 😁 it's rank and nothing like discharge

muddlingthrou · 12/05/2024 09:32

Yes, please do @piechipsgravy (your username making me hungry again!)

I thought I'd escaped the dreaded constipation, but this morning I've woken up and I am bunged up. Just had a big bowl of granola and yoghurt with tonnes of fruit to try and get things moving. Also eyeing up my toddlers raisins 🤣

piechipsgravy · 12/05/2024 10:38

Have made a new thread but am on app so can't link it!

piechipsgravy · 12/05/2024 10:39

Also feeling proper pregs on my trip to London today...
