Hi everyone and welcome to thread 3.
Please ask if you’d like the link to the private Facebook group. It expires after a couple of days so I won’t add it to this post.
If you’re new to the thread, we are a friendly and supportive bunch all in it together and hoping to welcome our new additions in November 2024!

My OH is out at the football today so I’ve been to IKEA and bought baby coat hangers so I can start organising things! My OH’s colleague kindly gave us their baby wardrobe, and I posted a pic last week of the bits I’d got from the pre-loved sale, & my friend passed on quite a few bits from her little one when she was newborn, so I’ve started putting things in the wardrobe and now it feels very real! (of course I’ll wash it and iron it all just before baby’s arrival, but it feels better than just being in big bags in the spare room 🙈

This really is very sweet. Tiny baby clothes are the cutest.

Happy BH weekend everyone!

Has anyone got any tips or remedies for sicky burps? It disappeared for a while but is back with a vengeance- keep burping and bringing up stomach acid with it (I can feel it come up my throat and into my mouth 🤢). Other than Gaviscon is there anything I can try?

Have you tried rennies? I found them a lot easier to stomach in my last pregnancy. Gaviscon made me feel sick as it’s so thick.

Is there any food that triggers it? I can't eat food with lots of butter as it really sets it off.

piechipsgravy · 05/05/2024 06:55

@Kinsters ooh not sure about triggers but admittedly I had had a McDonalds which most likely did not help the situation

@waryandbored I haven't tried Rennies but I will!

I could have written this. It's so horrible isn't it? Sugar makes mine worse.

Kinsters · 04/05/2024 08:24

@Daisychain27 I've gained 4kg already! My boobs are also a lot bigger and my "bump" is at that stage where it just looks like flab. You'll get some energy back soon. I'm 14+4 and it's really only the last few days when I feel all my energy and motivation to exercise is back, I feel so much more like myself again.

Thank you. I’m feeling better it’s not just me,
I cannot wait to get some energy back!

You'll get there. The first trimester is so hard but it ends and you forget how horrible it is.

I hate how my body changes in pregnancy (except the boobs - I'd happily keep them!) but this will be my third baby and I've found the weight drops off quite easily so I'm not too worried.

mrssunshinexxx · 05/05/2024 16:23

@Kinsters also my third I'm nearly 16 weeks and belly flabby I don't remember this with the other 2z looking forward to a hard bump hopefully before I go abroad on hols next month !

1yearplan · 05/05/2024 19:56

I'm on holiday next month too @mrssunshinexxx and I just look a bit blobby. I'm hoping I'll be looking more pregnant by then!

muddlingthrou · 05/05/2024 20:11

I'll hopefully be 19 weeks when we go on hols and I'm hoping it'll be good timing... when I was pregnant last it was still lockdown times so didn't have the option! Praying I won't be nauseous by then too. I'm in the bloated, uncomfortable in my body stage at the moment, but remember really enjoying the second trimester last time so fingers crossed we all bloom in time for the summer ☺️

mrssunshinexxx · 06/05/2024 06:47

@1yearplan it's tricky to know what to order yet either I've got lots of lovely bits in my basket but don't know when to take the plunge 😂

@muddlingthrou first baby lockdown here was so sad at the time for no baby moon! I'm 16 weeks and defo aren't glowing yet 😂

1yearplan · 06/05/2024 08:34

I've been dithering about clothes too!! I initially bought a maxi dress (non pregnancy) in a bigger size. Then I had a little chat with myself and I took the plunge yesterday and bought 3 new maternity dresses and two cosies. I'm really looking forward to doing some touristy things and being in the sun. Are you heading to the sunshine?

1yearplan · 06/05/2024 08:34

I mean to tag @mrssunshinexxx in my previous post.

mrssunshinexxx · 06/05/2024 09:32

@1yearplan sounds perfect we are going to Spain first time abroad with the kids what about you? X

1yearplan · 06/05/2024 11:29

@mrssunshinexxx Spain will be lovely. We've booked a holiday to Spain in the summer - all things going well with the pregnancy. We are off to Abu Dhabi - just me and my dh this time though. I can't wait for some sun and some sightseeing. Are you going to get some compression socks for the flight?

Lilac24 · 06/05/2024 15:49

We’re going away in August when I’ll be 29 weeks.. I’m a bit nervous but hopefully I’ll be ok on the plane. I’ve bought some compression socks and will drink lots of water!

mrssunshinexxx · 06/05/2024 16:12

@1yearplan no I'm not I doubt I'll sit still for longer than 5 mins 😂

waryandbored · 06/05/2024 16:41

Hi everyone. I’ve been feeling a lot better so managed to actually get out a bit this weekend. Last night I felt really achey in my pelvis and groin, like I did at the end of pregnancy last time. I rested and felt better today. But the last two times I’ve been to the toilet there has been light pink discharge when I wipe. It’s not reaching my underwear at the moment and is only a small amount but I’m concerned it’s the start of something. What do you think I should do? I’m 12w on Wednesday which is when my scan is too.

@waryandbored Glad to hear you’re feeling better but sorry that you’re getting this - it’s always worrying to see spotting even of there’s a reason. Could it be that you have pushed yourself a bit more because you’re feeling better so your body is telling you to slow down a bit?

If it were me, I think I’d keep an eye on things and contact midwife/ EPU if anything changes. I remember I had spotting around 22 weeks last time. It was a Sunday evening, so I phoned the hospital rather than my midwife and they were amazing and saw me straight away. It was nothing in the end, but they did a check of my cervix and listened in for the baby’s heartbeat just to make sure.

You know your body best, though, and if you really are worried something could be wrong, contact your midwife and she might get you booked in earlier for reassurance and checks.

waryandbored · 06/05/2024 17:05

@Hoppyhops thank you for your reply. I also had spotting at 22/24 weeks last time and had a similar experience. The midwives were great. I don’t really have A midwife at the moment. I had a booking in appointment but they didn’t assign me a midwife, so not sure who I should contact if anyone. I will have a search and call someone in the morning if it continues I think. I wish my scan was tomorrow so I could get an idea of what is going on in there. I am already so anxious, so this is very much unneeded!

@Lilac24 that's my plan too. Compression socks and lots of water. How long is your flight?

@mrssunshinexxx moving around lots is definitely going to be good for getting the blood pumping!

@waryandbored glad you're feeling better. I'd probably give EPU a call tomorrow, just to ease your mind.

@Magicmushroomsauce ahh, no way! Abu Dhabi is clearly the place to be. I honestly can't wait. There's so much to do. I love being a tourist.

Lilac24 · 06/05/2024 17:56

@1yearplan my flight is 4.5 hours, how long is yours?

I’ve had really bad acid reflux for about 5 weeks now! Had to have the gaviscon even though it makes me feel sick, it definitely helps. Having rennies constantly but feel like they’re not as good. I’ve found things that trigger it are anything tomato based & orange juice! Think they’re quite acidic.
Still trying to figure out other triggers but since cutting out tomato stuff it’s so much better! Just missing pasta & pizza 🤣
