Hi everyone and welcome to thread 3.
Please ask if you’d like the link to the private Facebook group. It expires after a couple of days so I won’t add it to this post.
If you’re new to the thread, we are a friendly and supportive bunch all in it together and hoping to welcome our new additions in November 2024!

@Lilac24 our flight is 6 1/2 hours ish. It's a night flight over, so we've booked business so we can sleep on the way over, plus it gives me a bit more room ( I'm tall). I honestly can't wait. We've had such an emotionally challenging 6 months. It will be lovely to just get away.

Kinsters · 07/05/2024 07:17

We're doing 14 hours next month - coming back to the UK from Malaysia. At least DS is over 2 now so he'll have his own seat rather than being sprawled on top of me!

strawberrycake12 · 07/05/2024 15:03

Any recommendation for next to me cribs? I'm hoping to spend around £100 ish maybe. Thanks for your help ☺️

1yearplan · 07/05/2024 15:10

That really is a longhaul longhaul! @Kinsters. Are you doing it in 1 leg? Or are you having a stop over somewhere? x

One leg really. We've got a short 1hr flight to KL then from KL direct to London and then a couple of hours to get to my parents house. I used to do it a lot (we went 5 times in about 18 months just after covid lockdown lifted) but I haven't done it since this time last year. The jet lag coming back to Malaysia is pretty tough to manage.

We have a Chicco one which has been great. We were given it secondhand and bought a new mattress for it. All of the parts are either washable in the machine or metal/plastic so can be disinfected, so if you would consider it I'd advise maybe looking at Facebook marketplace. There are usually loads for sale and it's something you'll only use for about 6 months. You could then put the money towards buying a cot bed for past 6 months, which are not cheap!

Welshcake15 · 07/05/2024 17:41

@strawberrycake12 if you do buy secondhand just make sure the seller gives you the plywood mattress board as that doesn't come with any new mattress you buy! I bought the new mattresses (I used the same next to me for my first and second) from Amazon for about £30.

Lilac24 · 07/05/2024 18:19

@1yearplan that sounds so lovely. Hope you have an amazing time and relax lots!

ChocolateSaxophone · 07/05/2024 20:28

This is a small pity rant post. I thought I was done with nausea. I'd had some great days, some with zero nausea at all, some with manageable nausea. However, I've spent every hour of today so far in hospital on a drip (several!) because I couldn't keep anything down on Monday so 111 sent me to A&E. FFS. I'm 12+4 today.

Loads of SnuzPod 4s on Facebook (with the latest air circulation and fire/SIDS safety regs). The main selling point is that snuz sell spare parts of everything so even if someone flogging one super cheap because a part is broken you can definitely get the part. Difficult to navigate to their spares page so best to Google Snuz Spares and they'll all come up.

piechipsgravy · 07/05/2024 21:05

@ChocolateSaxophone I'm sorry- that's so awful! Hopefully you get some relief soon

That’s awful, really sorry to hear you’ve been so unwell and hope you’re home and feeling better now?

12w today and dating scan in an hour. Anxiety high! I had a swab yesterday to check for infection because of the spotting/pink discharge. Still vomiting but nowhere near as often which is a huge relief. I just need some positive news from the scan and I might actually be able to relax for 5 mins!

Good luck, @waryandbored!

We had our scan yesterday and got moved up a couple of days to 13 weeks exactly, so a new due date of 12th Nov. Everything looks great so far 🤞🏼 I was so nervous going in, especially as there’s a screen above the bed so you can see what the sonographer sees. I couldn’t look to start with, until he said he could see the baby and the heartbeat.

He did an amazing kind of ‘fly through’ of all their organs and everything. It was just incredible how everything grows in there, and the baby was so wriggly! It didn’t want its picture taken and kept hiding and spinning around 😄

Westy22 · 08/05/2024 10:14

Good luck @waryandbored ❤️ x

Riverstardust · 08/05/2024 11:37

Hey, does anyone know if you have to have a scan before you can have your NIPT test please? Haven't had one yet so need to know if I have to wait until I do or can get it booked?

Shroedy · 08/05/2024 11:38

If you're talking about private NIPT you can book anytime from 10 weeks, definitely no need to have had your scan.

Riverstardust · 08/05/2024 11:43

@Shroedy yeah the private one. Thought maybe they would want to check everything is ok beforehand?

waryandbored · 08/05/2024 12:15

Everything was fine in my scan apart from the printer buggering up so only got one picture 😞
Baby was nice and active and is measuring 12w exactly which lines up with our dates. It feels very real now!

No, the connection between the NIPT and the scan is only an NHS one, that they will only fund the NIPT where there is a higher risk of an abnormality. Going private that isn't the case and plenty of people just have it for reassurance or to find out the sex. The test itself isn't impacted by whether there is a concern arising from a scan or blood test.

Ive been here since the beginning just reading in the background. I am currently 13w4days due date 09/11 with my first baby.
TMI now but I’m wondering if anyone has experienced severe constipation in pregnancy at all? I currently have it and have overflow. The Dr has prescribed me a laxative that can take a couple days to work. I guess I’m just looking for reassurance that if anyone else had been through this and everything was all ok in the end! Thankyou :)
