Hi everyone,

New thread for those of us due in November 2024. Old faces and new: welcome!

The last thread got a bit quieter as the Facebook group seems to be picking up. Link is here: fb.me/g/p_dSrSRkjpYfziyYWj/jkEMUg9j
It will expire in 48 hours so just ask if you need a new one!

Looking forward to hear how everyone is getting on as we approach/enter the second trimester ⭐️

@piechipsgravy Thanks for starting the new thread!

I had my 12 week scan this morning - all looking good. One very wriggly baby (clearly much more awake than I was after a late night and less than 4 hours sleep!) and measuring 4 days ahead at 12+6. It all feels more real now!! ❤️

ChocolateSaxophone · 12/05/2024 11:40

@taytay2020 congrats on the scan! It's a heck of a mental milestone isn't it

Kinsters · 12/05/2024 12:04

Checking in! 15+5 today and feeling pretty good. I'm a bit worried as my kids and DH are sick and it was around this gestation when I lost my last pregnancy and that coincided with everyone being unwell.

Kinsters · 12/05/2024 12:14

I'm sure I've been feeling the baby the last few days which is lovely. Just a tiny little popping feeling quite low down. We call her pop-pop which feels even more appropriate now haha.

Riverstardust · 12/05/2024 13:12

Hey, 11+5 now, so approaching the 2nd trimester shortly. The nausea and sickness seem to have died down by quite a bit however I have low iron so so just feeling exhausted constantly. Getting iron prescribed so hopefully that'll sort it! 😊

UnravellingTheWorld · 12/05/2024 13:13

13 weeks tomorrow for me! Been looking in the mirror at my bump and thinking IT'S TOO SOON!!!

@Kinsters that's so nice that you can feel baby moving already. I'm really looking forward to that stage - think it's the next milestone after the 12 week scan!

y0rkier0se · 12/05/2024 13:27

Thanks for sorting the new thread @piechipsgravy Ahh that’s exciting @Kinsters! I’m 15 weeks today so will look out for the pop! Poppy is top of our list for a girl so love that you call baby pop pop 😂

muddlingthrou · 12/05/2024 13:48

@Kinsters, sorry to hear about your understandable anxiety and hope you sail through the next few weeks x

I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and today is the first day in ages that I haven't taken any anti sickness medication. So far so good! I think I've started to feel something going on down there, but not sure... I had an anterior placenta with my last pregnancy so hoping I haven't this time and will feel more action (though I might regret that when I'm getting beaten up by baby in the early hours)

Ah that’s lovely. I have had two moments of thinking I can feel some movement. I’m only 12+4 though. It is my second baby and they say you feel them earlier! It’s been like a tiny swooping feeling, which I remember from my first.

LegoBear84 · 12/05/2024 15:39

Thanks @piechipsgravy for starting thread 4!
I'm super tired again today after a few days of feeling like I had a bit more energy.
Got my scan on Thursday morning which is super exciting, and then telling our 5 year old that evening.

Welshcake15 · 12/05/2024 16:19

Jumping into the new thread!

meepthebeep · 12/05/2024 16:49

Thank you for the new thread @piechipsgravy 🙂

1yearplan · 12/05/2024 16:50

Thanks for starting a new thread @piechipsgravy. I love that we are all getting to the second trimester now.
@Kinsters I hope you and your family are all feeling better soon. It's really triggering when coincidences like that come up. You're doing so well and pop pop is obviously trying to send messages that they're okay. x
I've had a lovely day out with my nieces today, although I'm absolutely knackered now!

MrsS11 · 12/05/2024 20:30

Evening! Hope everyone's most grim symptoms are beginning to fade! I keep thinking maybe my nausea and bone crushing exhaustion are easing, then feeling worse again. I'm pretty sure my oldest thinks I'm on my last legs.

For some reason I can't get the FB link to work, any tips? I've tried copy pasting it.

Morning all! I'd love to hear how you told your parents / partner's parents about your pregnancy. I'm surprisingly nervous about it (though sure they'll be pleased) and I'm running out of excuses to do it now we've had our 12 week scan! I've told a few close friends already and their support has been great, but I'm still enjoying it feeling like our nice secret thing (and quite a personal thing to me, healthwise). It's our first, and my parents' first grandchild.

taytay2020 · 13/05/2024 12:49

..... and I really need to stop using the word 'it' in reference to our future child! 😂😂😂

UnravellingTheWorld · 13/05/2024 13:03

@taytay2020 With our first we went to my parents' on Christmas Day 2020 to deliver pigs in blankets/collect our dinner (Boris had cancelled Christmas a few days before, so we decided to still make the dinner and share it). We exchanged presents on the door, then said we had something else for them but hadn't been able to get it in time for Christmas. Mum started to say "okay that's okay" when I finished with "because it takes 9 months to grow". Cue stunned/delighted silence.

With our second we got our toddler to show them the ultrasound, and proudly declare it to be "his" baby 😂

Good luck! First baby/first grandchild is always exciting so I'm sure they'll be thrilled however you tell them!

ChocolateSaxophone · 13/05/2024 13:04

@taytay2020 we are keeping it simple with a card with due date and sonogram inside! Nothing fancy tbh.

ps. I just say "baby" as in "baby is doing well" / "I'm excited to see how baby has grown" etc.

y0rkier0se · 13/05/2024 21:50

Is anyone else really struggling with heartburn on an evening? I’d all but stopped being sick but the heartburn is triggering me to be sick these last few days 😞 I can no longer take the melt on your tongue rennies so I’m taking gaviscon liquid but it’s a bit of a killer!
Also, I bought a cot on Sunday 🙈 I know it’s mega early, but I posted a pic the other week of baby’s wardrobe that someone my OH works with was giving away, and found out it’s mothercare’s Lulworth range, so was having a nosey on marketplace and came across the matching cot bed in immaculate condition so went and collected it on Sunday 😂 Not going to build it until the nursery is decorated and of course I’m going to get a new mattress. I’m really proud of myself for how much second hand stuff I’ve got so far - I’ve never been a charity shop person and always bought new but trying to be sensible with money with mat leave coming up!

ChocolateSaxophone · 13/05/2024 22:32

@y0rkier0se yup I'm having heartburn and reflux evenings. I'm normally a early to bed and rise person but eating dinner at 5pm (!) means I have heartburn etc right when I want to sleep at 9, so I'm staying up later until it passes. Just not worth the "am I going to..." worries where the line between reflux and vomit gets distinctly blurred when lying down.

Also no judgement on the cot - we've had one a while after a similar Facebook marketplace success! Get the deals when you see them!

ChocolateSaxophone · 13/05/2024 23:04

Btw, I posted on the previous thread worrying about surprise twins appearing at my 12 week scan because of my strong symptoms, and now I've had my scan I can confirm that didn't happen. One baby! Relieved!

taytay2020 · 14/05/2024 08:44

@UnravellingTheWorld @ChocolateSaxophone thanks for sharing your stories! I think we'll just do a videochat, but I still remember the phone call where we told them we were engaged and that was really nerve-wracking too! (Again, even though it was nothing but good news.) My heart was racing afterwards 😂 We're waiting for our combined screening blood results (hopefully this week) then ripping the band aid off!

taytay2020 · 14/05/2024 08:46

@ChocolateSaxophone haha congrats on your singleton! I was so so excited when she started scanning and there was immediately a baby in there, I was half expecting to see an empty womb even though we'd already had an early scan 😂 Still processing the reality...!

carlymarie24 · 14/05/2024 09:14

I have my 12 week scan next week (ill be 13+ weeks) I don’t want the find out the gender so I’m thinking of asking for a picture of the nub just for guesses or do you think this will give it away 😂
