Hey guys, new thread for the April due dates.

Looks like the other thread maxed out before someone could make a new one, so I'll tag a few people and then if they could tag a few and they tag a few and so on, so we can try and get everyone in.

There's no way I can get everyone tagged myself, it's a nightmare on mobile.

@Petris123 definatly looks like
blood from gum/ lips. I also have occasionally had bleeding gums (very common in pregnancy)

Petris123 · 20/03/2024 10:50

@SummerOak @sweetdreams23 that's what I thought as well but gums / lips are not bleeding, not obviously anyway 😳 God knows

sweetdreams23 · 20/03/2024 11:25

@Petris123 if it helps, sometimes if I spit blood into the sink when brushing teeth I can’t actually see where it’s come from in mouth.

MumDaisy1980 · 20/03/2024 13:28

@Ttcmumma ha. Latched for 2 hours!! How could you stay still for 2 hours?? I went to antenatal class , the midwife said roughly 30mins . I guess everyone is different!

@Petris123 agree is like blood from gum, which happened to me before . Might of eating banana or apple.

Ttcmumma · 20/03/2024 15:38

@MumDaisy1980 they were trying to get my placenta out and stitching me back up for atleast an hour of that time and he was happy there so we just left him to it lol. My partner then went out to get us food and the doctors left me alone with my son so I didn't try stand up until my partner got back incase I wasn't steady on my feet. So we chilled! He was wrapped in a towel and I can't even remember if I was properly covered up but I had been in labour for 3 days and pushed for an hour and a half, I really didn't mind just chilling lol

Pinkstuffs · 20/03/2024 20:52

Has everyone packed their hospital bags? I don’t want to overpack but everything I have for me and baby doesn’t fit in my overnight bag! A suitcase feels like overkill though 😂

sugarplum33 · 20/03/2024 20:59

@Pinkstuffs I'm not packed yet but I'm going to take an overnight bag for myself and a change bag for baby. But more space and hopefully easier to find bits as well.

Ttcmumma · 20/03/2024 21:38

@Pinkstuffs I'm all packed besides PJs/clothes that I'll grab last minute. I have a bag for baby and bag for me which I'm sure my partner will throw some fresh undies in for himself and call it a day 🤣. I've also packed my son's overnight bag so he can go to my mum's when the time comes. I've almost packed for the cat too! Getting ridiculously prepared at this point lol

SummerOak · 20/03/2024 22:02

I packed a mini suitcase for me and an overnight bag for the baby. Definitely overpacked, but I keep thinking what if I need to stay longer.

cheddarsandtoast · 21/03/2024 07:03

Two bags - one for me and one for baby and even then I’m trying to squeeze everything in!

Christmascrazyalways · 21/03/2024 09:23

I’ve packed a mini suitcase for me which I’ve split into one side pre labour/during & one side for after & then my changing bag is packed with all baby bits.

is anyone else absolutely starving??? I am almost 39 weeks and I cannot stop eating 24 hours a day!

Petris123 · 21/03/2024 10:15

@Christmascrazyalways yes, I'm starving all the time. I'm 34 weeks. I eat and it doesn't even touch my hunger. Don't know if I should just keep on munching or not!
Does anyone get weighed at their midwife appointments? I think it's standard in other countries but here I was only weighed at the start!

Pinkstuffs · 21/03/2024 10:19

@Petris123 i haven’t been weighed since my 12 week scan when they weighed me with my boots and coat on whilst I was holding my handbag 😂

SummerOak · 21/03/2024 10:20

@Christmascrazyalways yep, I'm 37 weeks and always need to snack on something.

Has anyone had absolutely no Braxton Hicks or signs that pregnancy is almost over. I have few friends who are behind me and their bumps have already dropped, some have started loosing their mucus plug or they're having regular BH. I know it's different for everyone, but I'm thinking that If I don't have anything now that it means I'll definitely go over due date.

Cora24601 · 21/03/2024 10:36

@Petris123 I wasn't weighed again until my 36 week appt. They said they need to weigh you so they have a current weight on record for when in labour and if they need to administer any drugs. Probably different everywhere though.

@SummerOak I feel the same. I'm 38 weeks and I feel like baby is just going to stay put. No Braxton hicks, a couple cramp type feelings but maybe one or two a day max! Mucus plug still in place as far as I can tell and I can't see baby has dropped, although some work colleagues did say they thought I had looked like I had dropped but I honestly don't feel any different so who knows 🤷‍♀️ at my trust they said they induce at 41 weeks and don't let you go over that so at least I should have things moving in the next couple of weeks, I'm also going to have a sweep at 39 weeks see if that triggers anything!

Ttcmumma · 21/03/2024 11:18

@SummerOak I had no signs at all with my son who was born at 38 weeks. Until 30 mins prior to my waters breaking I had some fairly gentle contractions followed by a movie like water burst 🤣. So doesn't mean anything! I've had period pains for 3 days, got quite severe last night and now nothing today 🤷🏼‍♀️. I don't think you can ever really tell x

ZB86 · 21/03/2024 13:31

I'm 36+1 and haven't had any BH. Measuring 1 week over but no signs of body getting ready really. I am however constantly hungry and the online grocery order is full of sweets stuff!
Does anyone have any views or experiences of forceps? I used to work in a health visiting team so heard a lot of birth stories and I remember thinking the only thing I would definitely like to avoid is forceps, but I can't remember the specifics as to why, and midwife has just said if I do feel strongly against it I would need to discuss with a consultant as if they wanted to use for eos and I had said i wanted to avoid this, they would have to do an emergency section instead. I don't want to be a diva but I do remember it was based of quite a few different birth experiences I heard about.

Knock123 · 21/03/2024 16:50

I didn't get any braxton hicks with my first, I've had them for weeks and weeks this time so not sure it means anything at all.

My bag is packed, I found having a wheel suitcase most convenient last time as my husband could just wheel it and put baby bag on top rather than carrying a weekend bag around for me.

Forceps is one I have wanted to avoid, I have heard some horrendous stories about women being ripped internally. With my previous delivery they threatened me with Forceps and I said no unless it was life and death, they then offered the suction cup but in the end I managed to find a last burst of energy and push the baby out.

One of my friends also said no to Forceps but it was a life or death situation so she agreed and her and baby are fine...it's so hard to plan these things, best thing to do is just ask the professionals in the moment what the options and risks are at each stage/intervention.

Personally I would prefer to get a c section at the earliest opportunity if there is any concerns.

I have an overnight bag for me and a baby bag for the baby and that fits everything we need

Hey everyone!

Sorry I've been a bit absent lately, just been trying to tidy and clean before I'm too far gone to manage it 😅

I was only weighed at the booking appointment and then alongside the blood test for downs etc. It depends on trust and your bmi at booking, but there really is zero reason to be weighed throughout (just needs to be done again around 36 weeks), all it really does is make women feel bad and causes stress. We all put different amounts on, the key is to try and eat healthy as possible, balanced as possible and nutritious as possible.

I'm 34 weeks and have been having BH left right and centre for the last 5 weeks. Mine are quite painful as well, which isn't common but is normal apparently!

Had a little scare yesterday as baby girl hadn't been moving as much and ended up in triage for reduced movements, all was well and the monitors being on me woke her up properly and she's been normal activity every since. Midwife forgot to take my fundal measurement though so called me yesterday evening saying to just come for a growth scan today.

Growth scan went perfectly, doctor was super thorough and all is well. 34+4 and she's predicted 6lbs 4oz currently, so slightly on the big side but within normal range.

How is everyone getting on? Some of you must be getting real close to due date! Anyone else otping for an elective section? Got my consultant appointment tomorrow morning to request/discuss and hoping I don't get much pushback.

I'm 35w and also opted for a section. Doctors have all been very supportive to this point so can't complain. I've mentioned it every appointment since booking so it's on my notes and it's not a surprise to anyone! Had an anaesthetist appointment this week too to discuss spinal and had a tour of the hospital including theatre so I know what to expect. Apparently they book you in week 36 for week 39 and my hospital does them on M/W/F!

Hopefulfirstround · 22/03/2024 11:51

39 weeks tomorrow based on LMP:) but 38+4 if I’m basing it on when I reckon i ovulated :) i still reckon I’ll be late 😂 I’m expecting baby to come at 41+2 , anyone else feel they’ll go over ?

Amf2508 · 22/03/2024 20:22

38 weeks today, thought we had the starts of Labour yesterday! Contractions every 2/3 minutes however not really painful only slightly, called our delivery suite for advice and they said to come in and be checked over. Only 1cm dilated, and midwife did a sweep whilst checking. Had bad cramps for hours after but eased off and now only having tightenings every half hour or so with a bit of back and low down pain. Really hoping I don't have a super slow Labour 😩
Also hoping that because my cervix was closed at 35+5 that these 'contractions' were actually doing something 🙄

i feel more hungry
but definitely feel thirsty all day, as in want fruit juice or I can down 10 cups of bubble tea kind of feeling. Was also worry about the sugar from the drinks. Drink water as much as I can.
