Hey guys, new thread for the April due dates.

Looks like the other thread maxed out before someone could make a new one, so I'll tag a few people and then if they could tag a few and they tag a few and so on, so we can try and get everyone in.

There's no way I can get everyone tagged myself, it's a nightmare on mobile.

Has everyone packed their hospital bags? I don’t want to overpack but everything I have for me and baby doesn’t fit in my overnight bag! A suitcase feels like overkill though 😂

I am almost 100% packed - the NHS check list said pack 3 sets of comfy clothing. But I don’t have any nursing top. Or am I being silly that it’s not an issue? Do anyone know brand relatively budget n casual nursing top?!

I’ve got one mum overnight bag n one baby bag n hubby packed a backpack .

my friend did suggest suitcase and explained when baby born , easier for hubby to carry the car seat + wheel suitcase than handheld so many bags.

i opt for bag because easy to access stuff.

@MumDaisy1980 they were trying to get my placenta out and stitching me back up for atleast an hour of that time and he was happy there so we just left him to it lol. My partner then went out to get us food and the doctors left me alone with my son so I didn't try stand up until my partner got back incase I wasn't steady on my feet. So we chilled! He was wrapped in a towel and I can't even remember if I was properly covered up but I had been in labour for 3 days and pushed for an hour and a half, I really didn't mind just chilling lol

@Ttcmumma what an experience! Then the 2 hours wouldn’t feel that long I guess~~

MumDaisy1980 · 23/03/2024 06:04

ive got a clear vagina discharge this morning , I googled and it’s said sth call show?! I’ve learning the theory of labour , the three stages … mucus plug. But not think I read about discharge.

throughout the preg , I don’t have any discharge or blood or anything. So this morning the discharge seems a big deal, as in a big change!

anyone got similar?! It’s sign of labour anytime ?!?!?!

feel like just got on a roller coaster waiting to depart!!

Ttcmumma · 23/03/2024 08:12

@MumDaisy1980 I've had an increase in discharge over the past week and a half. So much so I have to sometimes go check as I feel it come out and wonder if it's my waters! I think it's the bodies way of preparing for labour but doesn't mean labour is imminent

MumDaisy1980 · 23/03/2024 08:46

@Ttcmumma thanks! I see. Google did say it could be days / weeks before labour.

just that I have one more week of work before mat leave starts, in that respect not that ready lol!

Ttcmumma · 23/03/2024 09:05

@MumDaisy1980 everyone is different so you really never know for sure but at least you know your body is preparing 😊. I'm working until I go into labour and will be 38 weeks Monday so I really just want to go into labour at this point 🤣. My son was born at 38 weeks so I'm on edge waiting at every little sign lol

Pinkstuffs · 23/03/2024 09:32

@MumDaisy1980 I’ve had loads more discharge the last day too, mine is thicker like snot but not bloody. I’m only 35+4 though so hoping it’s not my plug!

I've had snot like discharge for the last 5 or so days. Currently exactly 36 weeks today. Hoping it's not an imminent sign as I've only just finished yesterday for annual leave before officially starting maternity leave at 39 weeks and I would like a couple of weeks to sort myself out first!

Pinkstuffs · 23/03/2024 11:17

@Alice4875 yep I was thinking I’m the only heavily pregnant woman who would like baby to stay inside until 40 weeks! Currently mid-kitchen reno which is not ideal

H&M have some good nursing camis, I lived in them last time. You just clip down from the strap. Really reasonable too. Usually wards are really hot so perfect for hospital. If you pack a hoody if possible pack a zippy one so you can easily breastfeed :)

SummerOak · 23/03/2024 13:42

I've had discharge for the last 2 weeks. It probably means something is moving along with the cervix, but In my case it didn't mean the labour was imminent. I hope he comes at 39 weeks, I already feel huge.

MumDaisy1980 · 23/03/2024 19:01

Thanks everyone for sharing and recommendations!

Petris123 · 24/03/2024 14:43

Does anyone know if Braxton Hicks can last various minutes / half an hour? I've been having these quite longs tightenings but I've read Braxton Hicks are only supposed to last 30 seconds / a minute. Had 2 or 3 yesterday and already had 2 or 3 today as well.
I have no other signs of labour (mucus plugs, waters).
TIA!

Knock123 · 24/03/2024 21:56

@Petris123 I have braxton hicks that seem to last without a break for hours. It's very uncomfortable and I find a bath or hot water bottle eases them, I've been having them for weeks but they've got a lot worse the last few days. Definitely doesn't feel like contractions though so for me I don't think it means anything.

Petris123 · 24/03/2024 22:49

@Knock123 thanks for sharing! Does anything seem to trigger them? For me it seems to be every time I get up from a chair or sofa, and it doesn't disappear until I sit down and relax again.

Knock123 · 25/03/2024 13:05

@Petris123 not really, seems to be if I've been on my feet! I just had an obstetrician appointment and asked about them lasting hours, she said it's completely normal and a good sign my body is getting ready. She suspects I won't be waiting too long as last baby came after a very straightforward induction at 37 weeks but will take it with a pinch of salt. In my head I'm telling myself baby will be late, otherwise it's going to be a very long few weeks waiting!

SummerOak · 27/03/2024 06:02

Had some proper period pains last night, hopefully it means the baby is ready to come soon. I did drink raspberry tea leaf yesterday before bed so think it's because of that. Anyone drinking that and having cramps later?

BuzzybeeMum · 27/03/2024 09:58

Hello, all!

I had my 38-week appointment and they’ve booked me in for induction at bang on 41 weeks. I’m hoping I don’t have to do it, but it seems a bit early (ie not 41+4 or something like that). Is this normal? I’d obviously rather not have an induction and hope she comes sooner, but just wanted to check we weren’t disturbing her prematurely.

thanks!

sugarplum33 · 27/03/2024 10:18

@BuzzybeeMum I think the induction guidelines changed fairly recently and they like to get inductions started by 41 weeks instead of pushing towards 42. Bear in mind that induction can take a while so even starting at 41+0, baby might not make an appearance for a few more days.

Ttcmumma · 27/03/2024 11:35

@BuzzybeeMum I had my 38 week appointment yesterday too and they have mentioned discussing induction at the 40 week appointment but not booked it yet. I will be going for it as my body is giving up and this baby is getting too big, I'm extremely paranoid I won't be able to get her out naturally if she goes longer than that.

However if you don't want an induction you actually have every right to refuse it, they will just have to monitor you and baby more closely. There is supposedly a higher risk of still birth when you exceed the 42 weeks but many women these days like to wait for it to happen naturally and all is fine with extra monitoring. They can't actually force you into it, so do your research and make your own decision rather than letting them dictate your journey. As I said, I will go for an induction of needs be, I would have taken it yesterday if she offered 😅) but we aren't all the same and we all have different stories!

SummerOak · 27/03/2024 11:44

@BuzzybeeMum I was told that they routinely book you in for induction at 41 weeks, but like others have said you can decline it and opt for more monitoring. I really want to avoid induction so if it comes to that I'll probably decline if I'm still feeling ok and the baby is happily moving. I'm hoping he comes before all that.

MumDaisy1980 · 27/03/2024 12:50

@BuzzybeeMum yes. Agree with what other have said. You’ve the right to refuse it. I also did some research about it. There is indeed increase chance of stillbirth from 38 weeks onwards. But the chance of stillbirth apparently still very small. Besides I also read somewhere NHS nevertheless is a one size fit all approach to a certain extent, so they have general guideline of suggestion induction at certain point. Do your research to make informed decision.

MumDaisy1980 · 27/03/2024 12:55

I am in 38 weeks now.

just want to share that my recent clear discharge today turned into a big red glob! It’s not fresh blood. Blood mix with discharge! I had a panic attack for half a second!

Then called midwife , she asked me to go for a long walk and sit on the birth ball for an hour then call back.

after long walk I did have more blood discharge. And I just really feel like a bath, so in bath now before sitting on birth ball.

i googled and seems like a mucus plug ?!

I wonder anyone had or know what mucus plug like?! Google said jelly like etc and I think it’s similar to what I had today.

midwife asked if my water broken. I had no clue as it’s my first preg. And in theory I thought I would have feel contraction first?! Which I don’t think I did.

besides I am home alone, at some point I felt a bit daunting. But DH can take any emergency call from work. Still would be an hour away!

Exiting anxious and all mixed feeling!!

Ttcmumma · 27/03/2024 13:10

@MumDaisy1980 definitely sounds like your mucus plug! Usually baby comes a day or two after but some women still have weeks once they lose their plug. Keep track of everything and good luck if it progresses!

sweetdreams23 · 27/03/2024 13:50

@MumDaisy1980 last time I lost mine about a week or so before I gave birth. It came out in clumps (snotty texture) , don’t remember the ‘bloody’ show until I was actually in labour. I think I’ve started to lose some of mine this week but no blood in it yet.

how exciting for you, sounds like you are really close. The mucus plug can regrow itself if lost early but if it’s got blood in it I would think you’ve lost most of it. Last time I went into full blown labour after a really long walk and spending most of that evening on the yoga ball!
