Hey guys, new thread for the April due dates.

Looks like the other thread maxed out before someone could make a new one, so I'll tag a few people and then if they could tag a few and they tag a few and so on, so we can try and get everyone in.

There's no way I can get everyone tagged myself, it's a nightmare on mobile.

OP posts:

@chlo299 Congratulations on your baby girl! I'm wishing you both a fast recovery.
Did you have any signs that she might be early or for the waters to break?

94kj · 09/03/2024 08:55

Wow @chlo299 that must have been a pretty scary time!! So glad you're both doing well and hope its not too long before you're able to take your baby girl home xxx

chlo299 · 09/03/2024 12:18

Not so well in the end. 😫 they transferred her last night to another hospital my bf went there and I'm staying for another night it's so stressful 😣

chlo299 · 09/03/2024 12:21

@SummerOak thank you 🙏🏼 fingers crossed for her x not at all I went to sleep as usual been to toilet 4times as usual 5th time woke me up being the water which then followed by 3 more breaks at home/way to hospital and then few more times on the ward

94kj · 09/03/2024 12:35

@chlo299 bless you it must be so hard being away from her especially 😫 they have transferred her so that she is in the best place though and she will be getting the best care x

chlo299 · 09/03/2024 12:48

I really hope she will get well soon ❤️❤️❤️

sugarplum33 · 09/03/2024 13:24

@chlo299 Wow that's been a dramatic couple of days! Congratulations on your baby girl and hope you're reunited very soon.

SummerOak · 09/03/2024 13:43

@chlo299 sorry to hear she got transferred, but I'm sure she's at the best place to help her 🙏 I can only imagine how stressful this is for you, but take care of yourself so you can visit her as soon as you can leave the hospital.

ASGIRC · 09/03/2024 13:45

@chlo299 Im so sorry things have taken a slight turn! But hopefully it means she is being well looked after and on the road to recovery!

Knock123 · 10/03/2024 08:33

@chlo299 all the best, such a scary situation but baby girl will be very well looked after and in your arms in no time. Try to take some time to physically recover so you're 100% for your girl.

Hopefulfirstround · 10/03/2024 17:06

so sorry to hear @chlo299 , fingers crossed you’ll have her at home with you soon

MumDaisy1980 · 11/03/2024 01:29

@XenaTheWarriorPrincess thanks for setting up a new thread

@chlo299 congrats! Hope baby girl get better soon.

all, I have a bit of a embarrassed situation never experience before but apparently it’s common in third trimester. It’s piles and to the extent that disturb my sleep. I experienced maybe a lot mild before when not preg. But currently it’s awfully painful.😫 I started trying some treatments advice in NHS website, like using wet wipes and soak in Epsom salt. I aren’t sure if it helps during preg , as most articles I read said they will naturally go away after birth. I wonder if anyone experienced this and had tried any effective remedies could share? Thanks !

chlo299 · 11/03/2024 06:18

Thank you all for all your kind words 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Hopefulfirstround · 11/03/2024 17:59

So normal @MumDaisy1980 but doesn’t make it any easier ! Go to your GP and get some stool softeners and there are suppositories called Sheriproct that are meant to be very good

MumDaisy1980 · 11/03/2024 19:09

@Hopefulfirstround thank you so much!

BuzzybeeMum · 11/03/2024 23:54

@MumDaisy1980 I didn’t see any piles but I had some blood in my stool a few weeks ago, and doctor suspected piles and recommended anusol cream which you can just buy over the counter. After using it a couple of times mine cleared up!

Hope everyone is doing well this week. Has anyone paid for private group b strep test? It's not something I had heard or thought about til a friend mentioned it. I discussed with midwife last week and think it is something I want to doi but just wondering if anyone can recommend where to get the test from please and any experiences eg do the hospital actually pay attention to the results with it being a private test? Thanks.

Knock123 · 12/03/2024 21:13

@ZB86 I've not had this test and don't plan to, I just googled it as I wasn't sure what it was. For both my pregnancies I have had private consultant care up to 12 weeks for both my pregnancies and all my scans, notes and NIPT test results were added to my NHS file when I provided them, so yes they do read and acknowledge private testing.

If you're really set on having the test done, it might be worth seeing if your hospital has a private patients wing and get it done there. The notes aren't shared but at least the NHS midwives are likely to be familiar with the consultant that has arranged the testing.

Lixi123 · 13/03/2024 08:10

Hello! Sorry my first post here, been watching the April thread since the start, it's helped me greatly with reassurance throughout the pregnancy!🙂
I'm expecting my 2nd (girl) in April 16th, so 35 weeks now.
My midwife has booked me for a growth scan as bump is measuring small - has anyone else had additional scans due to this? What was the outcome? Has anyone experienced small measurements just due to how baby is laying? I find she's really low down in the mornings but my late afternoon my bump feels like its doubled in size, so I'm wondering if thats what's caused the small measurements..

sweetdreams23 · 13/03/2024 08:18

@Lixi123 hi! I was measuring very small - 22 weeks at my 28 week appointment so went for an additional growth scan where baby was actually measuring on the 77th percentile for dates. Therefore I’ve been booked in again for 36 weeks to check babies not too big. So just shows small bump does not = small baby! When I was measured at my 34 week appointment last week bump was still measuring small - 30 weeks at 34 week appointment but wasn’t referred as previous scan had shown baby was big. So basically bump measuring under 10th percentile but baby measuring almost 80th! So I wouldn’t worry just see what scan says!

Lixi123 · 13/03/2024 08:23

@sweetdreams23 thank you, that's really reassuring, I was measuring 30cm last week at 34 weeks too. I'm surprised how different your measurements were with the scan! 😯
I have only had two bump measurements to date as my midwife appointments have been really sporadic. So there's no clear trend for the bump measurements yet

sweetdreams23 · 13/03/2024 09:12

@Lixi123 baby has been head down throughout and bump is quite low so I think that’s where the smaller measurements come from for me. I am also naturally tiny (size 6) so that’s probably something to do with it to. Not sure how I can be hiding a big baby in here really so I’m hoping growth has settled down by delivery 😂 good luck for scan, let us know how you get on!

Knock123 · 13/03/2024 09:24

@Lixi123 try not to worry, they are always extra cautious and would rather scan if there is any doubt.

Last pregnancy I got sent every time for a growth scan, my baby's growth did drop off at the very end and I was induced at 37 weeks but she was perfectly healthy, just small. This time they're not even measuring my bump and doing growth scans instead. Again, baby is small but growing properly so far.

They're more concerned about seeing a good trajectory of growth rather than the size, so it could be babys position or how the measurement was done vs last time that is showing a drop off on the chart.

Hopefulfirstround · 13/03/2024 11:29

Officially on maternity leave , 37+4 , very strange ; you have to go off in Ireland at 38 weeks but I got signed off a week early , very unused to having nothing to do 😂 had intended on painting the baby room but I’m exhausted. !!! Anyone have any weird signs that made them think baby would be early ? I can’t imagine another 4 weeks 😂

Yes, I did this in my first pregnancy through GBSS. They send the kit out for you to do and you pay if you decide to do it. At the time my hospital wasn't on the Strep B trial so I felt more reassured I'd done it. They recommend from 37w. Now however my hospital is on a trial so test all women in active labour - may be worth checking if your hospital is?
I'm having a c section this time too so I won't be tested as it's more for vaginal deliveries.
