Hi, thought I'd start of thread for those of us who have been through fertility treatment and are due in October 2024 :-)

I'm 6 weeks today after FET. This was our first try for a sibling (also a FET pregnancy).

Nausea is kicking my butt this time around. How is everyone else feeling?

How is everyone feeling about their early pregnancy scans?

Hello! 👋🏻 Huge congratulations! So sorry you're struggling with nausea, hope it calms down soon! I found out on Friday that I'm pregnant with our first after a FET, so I'm just over 4 weeks. It doesn't feel real - I've almost got a bit of imposter syndrome going on (I think I've just dreamt of this for SO long that it's bizarre that it's finally happening).
Feeling SUPER excited about the first scan at 7 weeks, I think it'll start to feel more real then! When's your scan?

@thislittlenugget Congratulations! It can take awhile for the reality to set in in my experience! I had a bit of bleeding on Monday evening (stopped now) but clinic have moved by scan forward to Monday (would originally a week on Monday) to hopefully be able to see a heartbeat and get some reassurance. The first 12 weeks can be a really anxious time, and I know it wasn't until about 16 weeks I felt able to relax a bit more. Enjoy the next week or so before the nausea starts to kick in - you're in for a ride!

@2mumlife Oh this is amazing - thank you so much!! According to this, I'm actually 5 weeks today!

I really hope you're okay as possible and that your scan puts your mind at ease – it's great that they could get you in sooner! Fingers and toes crossed that Monday comes around quickly for you.

I've been lucky so far with only a tiny bit of nausea, although I woke up at 5.30am the other night feeling really sick which I've got a feeling was a little insight into what's about to happen...

@thislittlenugget I find the calculator helpful as the NHS will date you differently, but this matched the due date my clinic gave me. Yes, I'm hopeful everything is ok as I know bleeding can be really common, but would be nice to get that reassurance.

Glad you're feeling ok so far! I find it takes a bit for the nausea to crank up unfortunately. The first trimester is just a bit awful to be honest between anxiety about making it to 12 week scan and the symptoms! (I know we should just be glad, but the nausea just isn't joyful)

Mind if I join? I’m going stir crazy. For background (sorry this is long) - I’m 5w4d FET (on progesterone pessaries and injection, oestrogen, steroids - due to elevated nk cells and multiple natural conception miscarriages). Had successful FET with PGS tested embryo (only one we had out of 4) - DD now 2.5yrs who I’m so grateful for after 7 MCs. Trying for a sibling (last and only chance as DH is infertile now after having cancer last year). Again, we had one embryo from ICSI and PGS testing - currently pregnant with but I’m worried it’s ending…

Had a significant bleed yesterday - bright red - whole pad full and brown spotting a couple of days before that. Still spotting today. I pleaded for a scan in the hope I could just be over with it - I feel my symptoms have gone (was very nauseous before). Reluctantly they did this morning and it showed 2 embryos (we only had one transferred!) with yolks but obviously too early to see heartbeats - one a bit smaller than the other. Had Hcg test so get that result tomorrow. They couldn’t see where the bleed was coming from. I honestly don’t feel pregnant anymore so I’m in shock. What are the chances this is going to work when I soaked a whole pad? If one wasn’t viable could this have caused some bleeding despite still being in my uterus?

@Lindyloolou Welcome to the group. Gosh you've been through it to have your DD.

Obviously no one can predict how its going to go with you. If it helps though, I had a massive bleed with my DD at not a dissimilar stage (stood up, massive gush of blood soaked through my trousers and had heavy bleeding for that evening and still spotting the next day). I was able to get an early scan the next day and they saw a heartbeat, and also a really big subchorionic hematoma (big pocket of bleeding where implantation was). Lucky I just had that 1 instance of bleeding the whole pregnancy, and by the 12 week scan it had completely self-resolved. I've had some bleeding this pregnancy too (nothing like what I had last time) but had a can on Monday and they saw a heartbeat, measurements correct for dates, and no reason for the bleeding.

Bleeding is really really common in early pregnancy, and it doesn't always mean MC. I was told the absence of any cramping is a good sign.

I think hcg at this stage is only helpful if you have repeated hcg tests (i.e. to know that hcg is still rising).

Also remember you can have fluctuations in your pregnancy symptoms at this early stage.

I think all you can really do is hope and give it time to see what happens. Will they repeat the scan for you? I know they often don't expect to see a heartbeat until at least 6 weeks and most places I think aren't too concerned if they don't see it before 7 weeks. Hope you have a positive outcome 💐

Hi everyone, I'd like to join please 😊 I'm currently 6 weeks having had my FET on 29th January. Our viability scan is next Monday. It's my first baby and to be honest I don't think it’s really sunk in yet!

Thanks @2mumlife, and to you 😊

I've only really had bloating, the odd headache and the odd bit of mild cramping. Have also been feeling more hungry! I'm on progesterone pessaries so it's hard to know what's due to the pregnancy itself and what's due to the pessaries.

Hello! Delighted to find this thread.
Im 6+3, second ivf round, first one was unsuccessful. I can definitely relate to the imposter syndrome - after 2.5 years, it’s really hard to believe this is happening and all will be ok. I feel full of anxiety - 7 week scan is next week. I also don’t feel sick at all but I know it can often happen later on. Just tiredness and sore boobs for now.
Anyone else an anxious mess?😂

Hi all and congratulation!! I am currently 9 + 2 so actually due in September, but hoping it’s ok to join as it’s helpful to be among fellow IVFers! 2nd round of ivf and nearly 2.5 years ttc first baby. I can definitely relate to the anxiety that you’ve mentioned! Hopefully everyone’s early scans will give positive reassurance and help the anxiety 🤞🏻

Ahh we're pretty much the same due date then as I think I'm 6+1. Our first round was unsuccessful too. I'm not feeling consciously anxious but my phone usage lately is through the roof so I think that's a sign I am 😂

Hi, and congrats to all!

@2mumlife thanks for starting the thread.

TMI but I also had what looked like a light bleed yesterday and freaked out if I'm honest. It seems to have reduced. Great that you had a positive scan.

@Custard7891 I am also 6+1 with a scan on Monday! I hope it goes well for us both.

Custard7891 · 22/02/2024 22:15

Oh wow, good luck too@LuxeBiscuit. I've only actually done one pregnancy test - the one the clinic gave me to do after my 2ww on the 11th. I didn't get tempted to test during the 2ww and I haven't tested since the 11th, but I'm thinking I might just do one more test before the scan to double check...

LuxeBiscuit · 22/02/2024 22:23

@Custard7891 that's a much better approach to help keep obsession / anxiety at bay.

I stopped testing last week when I received 3+weeks on a digital but I tested again today after I had a bleed yesterday. The line was much lighter so I'm slightly concerned that something is wrong. Will just have to see what happens on Monday.

Custard7891 · 22/02/2024 22:25

@LuxeBiscuithopefully everything will be alright. I'm still learning what's normal but I've definitely read that light bleeds/spotting is normal.

LuxeBiscuit · 22/02/2024 22:45

Thanks @Custard7891. I know what you mean - friends and family never really spoke about the weird things that happens to your body so we're all having to learn what is normal.

Oh the anxiety is real. Congratulations everyone on your BFPs! And welcome @IVF23 - nearly at the 12 week mark! Woohoo!

@2mumlife Thanks for your kind note and for starting this feed - a god send. It is so comforting to know others are going through similar stuff. I will have news on HcG tomorrow (technically today - insomnia is my NBF atm and has been for every PG!). I’m guessing they’ll compare to my Hcg I had last week which had doubled from the 2 days prior. But yes, they also said I’ll probably repeat on Monday too. I’m still spotting but not bright red - very dark brown now. I just wish it’d stop already! Nurse was very perplexed she couldn’t see where the bleed was coming from and did say it can be caused by the meds (progesterone). Still can’t believe the blastocyst split into two 🙈

I did have a bleed with DD at around 16wks and she was ok so that’s giving me some hope. The bright red through me though. I went to a specialist last time who said I had Cervical Ectopia / erosion (yucky word!) so perhaps it’s that again. The nurse dismissed it yesterday when I mentioned it.

@Blossomofhope @Custard7891 Fingers crossed for your scans next week! Hopefully they’ll be reassuring and you’ll be able to relax a little more.

@LuxeBiscuit Hopefully all will come good. PG test results are altered by so many factors Inc the flow you used, how hydrated you are etc. the line is there so 🤞

@Lindyloolou @LuxeBiscuit sorry to hear you have spotting, I know how stressful it can be. Lots of people seem to spot in early pregnancy and I think it’s more common in ivf pregnancies. Hopefully you can have reassuring early scans soon

I am finding the weeks just go soo slowly! But trying to see every week as a milestone to help with the anxiety. We have a reassurance private scan tomorrow, as I didn’t feel able to wait from the clinic one to the 12 week one with nhs. Really hope everything is ok.

@Lindyloolou thank you and oh that's great - 2 for the price of 1 . I'm hoping your bleeding settles or they work out the cause to put your mind at rest.

@IVF23 thank you and all the best for your scan today / tomorrow.

Welcome to all the new posters :) I joined a general due date thread with DD but found that being with others in the ivf boat is nice, as it is a bit of a different journey.

@Blossomofhope Symptoms sound super normal. I had the sore boobs with DD but this time around all I have is nausea all the freaking time and exhausted. I feel it’s worse this time around but DP keeps reassuring me I felt just as hideous with DD 🙄

@Custard7891 I also didn’t test in TWW but I’ve become superstitious now as both cycles where I didn’t test early have been positive 🤞 where the ones when I did test early were BFNs

@IVF23 Sure welcome onboard :) My DD was a September baby :) always a really busy month in maternity wards apparently!

@Lindyloolou I also have a history of an entropic cervix but lucky 1st pregnancy really seems to have cleared it up. The amount of bleeding you’ve had sounds more than I’ve ever experienced due to that though. Bleeding is super normal though and I think often you never know what it is. Hopefully you get
some reassurance at scan

@LuxeBiscuit Oh gosh no one tells you anything about what pregnancy actually does to you 😂 I keep asking DP why I’ve agreed to do this all again 🤦‍♀️

Good luck for all the reassurance scans coming up. Nothing like seeing the heartbeat for the first time x

@2mumlife yeah I just kind of have the 'what will be will be' mindset. I have just bought some tests though... I guess to ensure there's no nasty surprises at the scan. Going out for dinner tonight with some old colleagues and hoping they won't ask questions about my not drinking. It's a funny time not telling anyone, that's why I'm posting on here as at least you can talk about it openly! Thanks for starting the thread.

So happy to have found my people here! I joined the other thread but this is a different journey with its own unique anxieties.

We had our seven-week viability scan yesterday, and there was a strong heartbeat, with everything measuring as it should. It was a huge shock, as the few symptoms I'd had had faded, and I was prepared for the worst. The sonographer turned the screen off for me, but within 5 seconds said "congratulations!". It was like an out-of-body experience👽We'll probably scan again in a couple of weeks.

We've now had six rounds of IVF: five in the UK, the last of which was with donor eggs but ended in an early miscarriage. For our latest round, we went to Greece (donor eggs again), which was a fantastic experience. I can't emphasise how great the care is out there.

Looking forward to connecting with you all, and being each other's cheerleaders. My mantra for this round has been 'my body is designed for success.' I hope it helps some of you too x
